I booked 3 suites for a business trip and we stayed at the Barefoot Suites. You are never sure what you are going to get when booking a rental in FL, but this is a great solid choice. I plan to book here again next year. This location is super close to the Gaylord Palms Convention Center where our business event took place. Also, across the street is Old Town. A little touristy area with shops, restaurants and weekend car shows. They played some load music there at times, but it quieted down before bedtime. Putting the t.v. on remedied the noise. This property appears to be broken into 2 resorts. One may have been a time share property and the other was a "hotel" operated by Choice Hotel properties. When you go to check in there are 2 different desks that handle your needs. Great points: Full kitchen, large bedroom, living room, and a patio. In room jacuzzi tub. Stacked washer and dryer with free laundry soap. Starter toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, etc and they will give you additional sundries at the check in desk upon request. Screened in patio balcony. Outdoors Heated pool & whirpool & playground. Free WiFi. If you have a Choice rewards membership, you earn points. Cons: Unlike other hotels, daily housekeeping is not provided. You can order service, but it is for a fee. Also, I had a few bumps but they were resolved fairly quickly. My first room did not have a doorknob or lock on my side of the adjoining room door. I was switched to another room that was safer. Next my jacuzzi tub did not work. The night time gal at the desk only could suggest that I have to push the button to turn it on. Jeez, like I did not try it. The next day, maintenance came and showed me where the breaker box was and which one to flip. Warning, do not expect a very strong wi-fi connection. Desk gal said they were experiencing some issues recently with service and they were working to resolve it. The last issue was at 7 am on a weekend, every smoke and fire alarm in my suite went off. The whole floor had the same rude awakening with flashing lights and blaring noise. There was not a fire, but someone may have burnt their breakfast, causing the smoke to go thru the vents of all the other rooms. For the price we paid, the large rooms, and convenience of location, this place is an overall win. No place is going to be perfect and this place has a lot going for it. read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would. I have a whole laundry list of issues that we had in both the apartments that I stayed in over 3 week period. The first apartment had numerous issues the worst being the tour that just overflowed and flooded the entire bedroom the second day we were there we were then moved to a second apartment and it did the same thing we didn't even get a chance to use these bathrooms when they just flooded they were a large number of other issues within the both the apartments as well as issues with front desk and security not being available when they should have been and after moving out clean making sure both apartments were clean everything was tidy followed the rules never got my deposit back I have called numerous numerous times no one ever answers at the Barefoot suites as well as I call the corporate office and was promised call backs and never received them this place is a joke and a money pit Don't waste your time or your vacation staying at such a place read more

Lovely suites! It's like having my own little bungalow on a private lake. Location even came with wildlife! No I did not go out and make friends with my prehistoric neighbor, but was able to get a few amazing pictures of him. The only downfall of the location is the proximity to Oldtown. We stayed on the first floor of this location. Furniture was stained and outdated but we didnt care as we woukd be out most of the day. Unfortunately we ran into an issues with roaches on the second day we were there. They sent someone to spray on the third day. When we got back from our outing there were four small dead roaches on the floor and two full ones crawling on the wall. They were only in that area of the kitchen as far as we know and we hope we didnt bring any back home with us. They did offer to do a full cleaning before spraying but that was pointless as we were heading out the next day. I couldnt even cool in the kitchen because of that. We drove 4 hours to get here and had a reservation we made months ago. They told us that "Our room" was under construction and unfortunately unavailable. The receptionist was condescending and unprofessional. Luckily, this opted us the opportunity to complain and be transferred to a 5 star resort a half hour away. Although this was a half hour out of the way for us and not close to anything we were in town for, we are so thankful we did not stay here. I have fallen in Love! When looking up this place when searching for a hotel for the few days away we had, I thought how have I never seen this place before? The hubby and I decided to try something new. Boy, am I glad we did! This place was so quaint, so cozy, I felt like it was home! Walking into the resort, you have iron gates enclosing the area, there are sweet little Villa's spreadout on the property, and the main building. We were staying in the high rise. Walked up to the 4th floor, opened up the door and BOOM! We were home! The rooms were clean, the living room bright, and the balcony was facing the beautiful pool area, a plus, the balcony was enclosed by screens, so if you want to sit out without being eaten alive by bugs you can. Then there is the pool area, awwe I already miss it! The grounds were spotless, the pool crystal clear, and the jacuzzi, perfect for resting the tootsie's after a long day of walking. They also have an Alligator pond in the back, he was awesome to watch and the turtles that hung around were adorable!! We went away for 5 days so that we could just relax and take in some alone time together and this place was perfect for it. Some people say that being so close to Old Towne is noisey, but unless you are going to bed at 10pm the music coming from the park was just muffled background noise. The only think I can think as a con is that there was no alarm clock in the room and there are no walk up calls from the main office. So we had to make sure our phone woke us so we wouldn't miss our flight. I cannot think of one other thing to complain about. I will definatly be going back! read more

I love our room. I booked through Expedia and was hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Check in was fast and the staff is so friendly. They even gave me recommendations for restaurants for dinner. The room is very clean. There are 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, a kitchen, and a balcony. The hotel is small which is fine because there is plenty of parking. If I ever visit Florida with my kids I would definitely stay here again. read more

NICE but beware of some downsides. There is an entertainment complex right across the street and live 70s-80s music plays all day and all night, loud enough to go through the windows and walls. You can pick up every word from the announcer's microphone. We were here on a weekend and it is possible that this was some type of special event. Because voices and noises from the street, hallway and parking lot were also easily heard, I think the walls are just thin. There were a lot of pluses also. We stayed in a clean two-bedroom apartment setup with kitchen and two full baths. This is one of those condo/hotel hybrids with limited housekeeping. Here are the pros and cons: The Good: * Good value if purchased at less than $225/night * Really nice, tidy and new look and feel * Clean furniture, appliances and fully stocked kitchen * Comfy enough beds (except, see below) * Screened-in patio * Refreshing Key West colors and themed decor * Ten minutes from Disney * The "FunSpot" attraction is part of the entertainment complex across the street (good and bad) The Bad * Shockingly loud live music across the street inescapably permeates the walls * Sketchy neighborhood (but the hotel is well fenced with an access-controlled security gate) * One of the cheesiest parts of Orlando on 192/Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. * Sales guy randomly knocking on doors at night to ask "how's your stay and let me tell you about our activities in the morning." Pretty sure that's illegal. Definitely unnerving. * Small curly hairs found in otherwise clean sheets. Also weird and unnerving. hope they weren't from the sales guy. All in all, if you don't mind the noise or if the band is not playing, and so long as you don't mind the above, this apartment/hotel would be acceptable or better to most people. The surroundings can be overlooked. The unit itself is nice. Much more space than staying in a regular hotel room. Maybe call the front desk to see if the band is playing during your stay. read more

It is very quaint. It is ultra clean and simple. Very few extras. it beats a hotel, however it does not compare to Hilton Head. The Wifi is 29.99 for a week and barely registers a signal on my laptop, forget phones or ipods. The pool is open until 10pm which is a plus. There are charcoal barbque pits in the back with a kids playground and shuffleboard. You can sit in the jacuzzi and watch the bungee jumpers from old towne. It is close to Disney , Universal, Seaworld, the airports. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. read more

interesting little place 4 smaller buildings and one 6? story one the one we had was a villa..faced the pool/playground with a small patio with some chairs.. inside was nice one bedroom with a full kitchen-so bring/buy your food/snacks only 2 letdowns..8$ for wifi and yes Oldtown is directly across the street..and they start with the canned music from open to close...it really doesnt bother you inside the room..but it may if you are anywhere outside or in the building that faces it read more

We got a special on hotels.com and we got such a great deal for a one room villa. The place is gated and is very small. I don't mind it at all though. It's literally walking distance from Old Town (with the scary sling shot and the highest sky coaster, if you try it...let me know because I'm a wimp). It's hidden but it's a gem and very homey. I would defintely go back to this place for a great deal and a good stay when we go back to Florida. They never gave us a hard time at all and the hotel comes with a coffee maker is you ever wanted to make a cup of joe in the morning before your adventure begins that day. The room had a family room with a TV, a fully equipt kitchen that had a stove, microwave, a sink to wash all your dishes and included dishes! The bedroom is separate from the family room and has a separate door that you could lock (heeeelllllo privacy)! So if you brought a whole family the familiy room should have a pull out bed couch for those who can sleep in the family room. We didn't get to use it because it was only my boyfriend and I. The bedrooms had cable and good cable! We did have a flight of stairs before entering our villa because it was a second story villa and it was like condos there was a room on each side of us and we were the middle room. Even though the rooms aren't separate homes you can't hear your neighbors and I knew we had neighbors because their cars were driving on the driveway of the villas so I saw a whole family on each side of us. I booked a month in advance. Then called ahead on the day of check in and they said everything was ready. Upon arrival they told me my room was unavailable due to maintenance. They directed me to a different hotel. This cost me double my cab fare and they did not reimburse it or offer other transportation. Completely unaccommodating. Would not recommend. read more

Spent five wonderful relaxing days at the best hotel near Old Town . The room was clean comfortable and quiet. We stayed in the hotel part in a suite with a full kitchen , a fully equipped kitchen!! Two bedroom , two bath , dinning room, living room, and a screened in balcony. The second bath was handy cap accessible, flat screens in the bedrooms and a big one in the living room. Everything about the place was excellent. And central air not the wall units that are always musky smelling. We were on the third floor and the elevator was the quietest most stable , it felt like you were not even moving. Now that the neighboring hotel has increased there rates we will be staying here from now on since there both now charging near the same . Lastly the staff and receptionist were great Stay Here!!! I could not reach the front desk all morning. When I finally did there was no answer as to when our room would be ready. A member of our party ended up slipping and landed us all in the emergency room. When I called Groupon, they said they needed authorization from the hotel to refund me. Groupon said unfortunately, Omar denied the refund. We called and he said he did no such thing, that Groupon only called to "confirm our information". He called again a few days later and offered us a complimentary room. We said no, we already left, what good does that do? Just refund us. He said we needed to speak with Groupon. Called Groupon again, they said he did in fact DENY the refund, that they were calling for approval from the manager and NOT to confirm our information, and that they'd call again. Omar (the only person who can approve a refund) was conveniently "out of the office" only 20 minutes after he called us. Groupon will be calling AGAIN in the morning to request a refund; hopefully he does the right thing this time. For the hassle alone, this gets 1 STAR. read more
