Just a delightful little cafe that is spotless, with warm service, and a very good breakfast. I got the scrambled eggs with scallions and cheese, arepa, cortadito and added a side of bacon. The coffee was perfect-- and the plate of food was so pleasing that the next four people who walked in were jealous that they were only grabbing coffee and a pastry. It's not a cheap diner breakfast, but I was pleased with the value, especially the crispy and generous side of bacon. The staff were lovely. read more

I had a very good iced coffee here. Tucked away this is a hidden gem. To eat, I had the tuna sandwich. Grilled bread with tomato lettuce and onion. The chips that came with it were delicious they tasted like they were made there. They were very friendly and clean here. read more

I would normally rate 5 stars pero what used to be the spot for empanadas is slacking I completely understand inflation. But u have to raise the price and bring back the original meat to potato ratio. Cutting the product quality is never the answer I will try again in the future and adjust review! read more

What a cute spot!! 10000% will be coming back here...probably this weekend lol. This is a Colombian cafe that is super fresh and bright. We only got coffee, but the food looked amazing! I want to come back here for some arepas and platanos. Our coffees were excellent. We ordered a cappuccino and a cortadito. The espresso they use is fabulous, I'm low key obsessed. It's a small spot and would be easy to miss on salzedo, but it's totally worth a visit! read more

Barista cafe is a small family owned Colombian restaurant right by Miracle Mile. They just refurbished the inside and did a excellent job. I love supporting small business and the staff at Barista cafe is the nicest you will come across. They are all extremely friendly every time I order here (at least once a week). We always order empanadas( with picante or green sauce) ham & cheese croissants, chicken wrap, sancocho soup, ensalada de garbanzos, so far we had yet to find a meal we didn't like. Barista is a delicious yet not crazy expensive spot to get good home cooked food as if you were in Colombia. Each day they have a daily special or you can also order something off their menu (I've attached pictures). If you're looking for good Colombian food in Coral Gables this is definitely your spot. read more

i went into this cafe thinking that it wouldn't contain much or that i wouldn't be pleased with what they had to offer but to my surprise, the staff was incredibly sweet even during lunch rush which makes the atmosphere nicer and welcoming. i ordered "amanecer barista" & it was everything in more, it tasted so yummy & fresh + don't even get me started on how AMAZING the coffee tasted, i haven't tasted such a delicious cafe con leche until i came here. if you are have a quick craving, i highly recommend for you to come here! read more

I was feeling sick one day and wanted a soup and this place looked like a good option. I got a pumpkin soup and a ham and cheese sandwich. The pumpkin soup was really fantastic. It was exactly how I like pumpkin soups, not as thick as most places nowadays. Perfect for a sore throat. I really enjoyed it. The sandwich was pressed and really good and came with chips. It had a good amount of cilantro mayo on it which I love but may be a problem for any of you cilantro/mayo haters. Together it was less than 10 bucks. It was the middle of the lunch rush but the place was pretty quiet. Definitely a good place to run to if you're in a hurry. My only gripe is that it seems like they have a lot more options available than their menu indicates. I would have liked to know what salads or specials they had without having to ask the girl at the counter (she didn't seem very chatty.) read more

Chicken soaked in mushroom white sauce With rice and salad on the side . Breakfast you can order. Huevo perico it's scrambled eggs with tintarles onions all chopped up in it with an arepa Yellow or white . They have buñuelos , hoy chocolate . This is your moms and pops Colombian spot home cooking all the way . The service is excellent it's all family managed hard working people super nice and kind . The one down fall they need an extractor you walk out and smell like food . But the food is worth it ! The have a different lunch special everyday. You can also order wraps . This little cafe is super cute. The seating is pretty comfortable it's like a cafeteria type of place. The girls that work here are super friendly. I tried the pan de bono a cheesy type of round bread which taste great soft inside but crunchy on the out . The cafe con leche taste good I really wasn't into in but it didn't taste bad it had a good flavor . The choclo arepa I think that's what it's called , was very yummy taste like a corn pancake with white cheese. I loved it it was delicious salty and sweet . They didn't have wifi lol it's like a traditional Colombian cafeteria. They just believe in you get some good food have a nice conversation in a cute place , pay and get out. I can't wait to go back and try some more of the yummy stuff they have. Overall I give it 4 yummy old school stars read more

Stumbled on Batista Cafe on our walk from the farmers market to the giralda. We were craving fruit juices but didn't want to spend $9 (like at the farmers market). We got a Jugo de Lulo with water, empanada with meat and a pan de Bono- ALL DELICIOUSLY FRESH and TASTY! We had lunch to-go today, THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Great service, great wraps, delicious sancocho, empanadas are perfect and the juices are soooo good. Highly recommend! Came here for breakfast from recommendation. Cute little shop; it wasn't busy so we got a seat right in the window. We had the breakfast eggs that came with onion and tomato that came with an arepa and Colombian sweet cheese, coffee and a pan de bono. I wasn't expecting much but it was very delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast. I've read on other reviews that the empanadas are great but we were too full to try- will have to come back :) read more

I woke up craving empanadas and a Colombiana one morning so I searched for the closest Colombian spot in the Gables and that's how I came across Barista Cafe. I wouldn't say that I was fully disappointed because the empanadas were de-lic-ious (the beef more than the chicken) but being a Colombian restaurant I was shocked when they didn't have their infamous Colombiana soda. Instead they had Frescolita which is Venezuelan. Now, I'm Venezuelan so I didn't mind it all that much but there's definitely a difference in taste between the 2 sodas so I was just thrown off by it as I was expecting Colombian sodas at a Colombian locale. The service was decent. The cashier had a bit of an attitude at first but then lightened up when cashing me out. Whatever, maybe it just wasn't her day, it happens. Overall, I would probably go back when I'm craving Colombian empanadas but this time not expecting to have it paired with a Colombiana :) but really :( read more

I don't give this restaurant 5 stars simply because as soon as you enter, the smell is stuck with you for the rest of the day! Food is great! Sometimes the arepa de chocolo is from the day before, or at least that's how it taste but I am a frequent customer and 90% of the time the lunch special is DELICIOUS! My son and I go here all the time! In this area food is super expensive (and excellent). This place is moderately priced and the food is great. It's what it should be, a quick yummy Colombian cafeteria. The ladies that work there are super sweet to my son and me too. He went one morning during the World Cup and he was taking forever to come home. When came home--with perfect cafe con leche-- he told me the place was so fun, the whole restaurant, including the employees were singing and dancing at 8am "ole ole". People might find this annoying ("just get my order, so I can go") but they are wrong and should enjoy people having fun and singing in their day. Anyway, every thing I have had from here has been easy, quick, good, affordable and served with a smile. Btw, Parking is non existent, it's definitely for people who live and work around here. read more

Craving Columbian empanadas and I came across this place! Decided to get the coworkers in on the order so it was going to be a real test being the first time ordering. Called in my order for 36 empanadas and one pan de bono and it couldn't have gone smoother. Customer service is great! Free delivery too! I was warned about the delivery time being about an hour due to the quantity and that was fine, actually appreciate the notice. Took 1 hr 20 mins total. Now to the good part, the empanadas were awesome and they are the biggest I've had! Both chicken and beef are delicious! The pan de bono made me wish I had ordered more! A little Colombia coffee shop by Miracle mile. The food is like homemade and everyday they have different menus for lunch. They also have wraps, salads, and Colombia goodies(empandas , pan de bono). They boast both indoor and outdoor seating with the same aesthetic and nods to Colombian culture, like the cute hats and sandals hanging on the wall. We were seated inside fairly quickly on the Sunday afternoon we came in. They were pretty busy, but the waiters were kind of hanging out at the bar, just chit-chatting. We were able to get one of the servers to look at us after a couple of minutes of sitting there. They brought us a little palate-opener of a small portion of a simple soup. They had a margarita special we tried, $5 frozen margaritas. The maracuya (passion fruit) one was a solid choice. I also ordered the mojarra frita with white rice, tostones, and salad. The rice was really undercooked. The waiter tried to appease us by bringing us more of the same uncooked rice. We were not the only table to say something about it because our neighbors confirmed they too received the same and were also unhappy. Other than that, the rest of my meal was great. However, I will say my mom was very upset with her experience and expressed that her chicken wasn't prepared well either.

For a dish that should be flavorful and comforting, it missed every mark. On the positive side, we loved the empanadas, especially the meat ones -- crispy, well‑seasoned, and easily the best part of the meal. The guanábana juice was also delicious and refreshing. The service was a 10. Friendly, attentive, and honestly the highlight of the visit. Overall: amazing service and great empanadas, but the bandeja paisa needs serious improvement.

Culture aside, I instantly opted for Bandeja Paisa restaurant because of the solid reputation and excellent experience. My family was overjoyed to have Aura as our waitress, she was personable, knowledgeable, super patient and made the entire dining experience go from 4 to 5 stars. She truly is one of a kind when it comes to the personal touch and familiarity of what a family meal is. The food was amazing. I am an enormous fan of the consome I think it's the perfect way to whet my appetite, Stoke, the figurative food flames if you will. The favorite appetizer of the night was the plantains and fried cheese while I enjoyed the Churrasco steak and the table enjoyed the Bandeja paisa along with delicious traditional beverages. It's one of the best family outings. I've had thanks to the service and the quality of food. An admirable quirk I notice was the decor in that it looks like it was actually decorated by someone familiar with colombia versus someone who simply googled images of colombia; so 10 points to Gryffindor for authentic attention to detail Also, everything was very reasonably priced, and I was really impressed with the serving size of the Churrasco steak. The food was so good. We practically ordered the exact same order to go. That tells you something about how good it was on the spot that we knew we would want to eat it again a little later.
