I have to say I wanted to be excited about this cafe. It's in the same building as Great Dog which offers great daycare service and grooming so I expected nothing less coming in. I visited in the summer time and I can tell U Online pix and reviews can be deceiving. There's a separate cafe for folks w dogs versus without. If u want to feel like a third class citizen u can show up w your dog here. I was told since I didn't know there was separate cafe for owners w dogs and told straightway I wasn't welcome there and to head over to the other room. To my surprise the other room looks dark, dirty and sad ( sagging couch, dim as if they forgot a few light bulbs, and a table w a few chairs where a gal sat w no dogs ( employee on break?). And since the room shares the same barista window with the other side that is well lite and presentable u feel like crap coming here. Seattle's a very dog friendly spot ( esp Ballard I highly recommend) so unless they do a huge change in this cafe I will avoid coming here even if u pay me read more

I came in yesterday, because my one of the ladies at my chiropractors office told me they have a lot of gluten free options. I decided on the vegan/gluten free raspberry almond scone. The woman who served me was super friendly. The scone was way tastier than I was even expecting, and the price was very reasonable. Most of the time gluten free goodies are really expensive, so it was a very nice surprise. So this place allows dogs. That alone means it's awesome. But, honestly, the coffee is pretty good too. I had a black and white mocha which was delicious, and my date had an Italian soda. Mostly I just loved the fact that I could sit on a couch at a coffee shoppe with my dog next to me for like 4 hours and it was no big deal. Very laid back, super nice employees, and a cute place. I'm in it for the coffee, they made a delicious double 8oz latte with whole milk, my standard, so I'll be back.

To begin with, I'm a critic and a snob; having said that, I have yet to find a flaw with Bark Espresso... The prices are decent, which is a good place to start this review. I had breakfast, snacks and drinks with my wife for 20 bucks. And my 5-shot vanilla white mocha is usually the most pricey item on the check. The breakfast sandwiches have been perfect -- greasy, fatty and just plain good -- and the pastries are just better quality than what I usually find in a local cafe. They offer a Bark Breakfast Sandwich, which is a decent ham and cheese biscuit, but served on a delicious cheddar roll. Really, truly, better than any breakfast bites at Starbucks, or even the trendier stops, like Herkimer and Lighthouse. The only place nearby that compares to Bark is Cloud City in Maple Leaf. But where Cloud City can be crowded and noisy, Bark is pleasant and relaxed. Also, though I enjoy Cloud City, occasionally their patrons and baristas can be pretentious d-bags, which has never been the case at Bark. The random customers at Bark are cheerful, and the baristas are friendly to the point of being intimidating. But, more importantly, their coffee is good. I mean really damn good. The use a high-end manual machine, and everyone there knows how to pull good shots. The espresso is Caffe Vita, so the quality is never in doubt. It just depends on who is working the machine on any given day, but even that is really not so much of a problem, as the quality of drinks ranges between great and superb! Really, even the most unskilled barista behind their counter can still make a cappuccino better than 95% of their competition. The latte art is fine, but the latte foam is excellent! -- smooth, velvety, the way it is supposed to be served at top-tier cafes. I do have one confession and caveat: I have only visited Bark on the weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) so perhaps they have their A-Team working only during the weekends, but I really can't say. From what I have seen though, they deserve my strongest endorsement. And, of course, the animals. Bark Espresso is partnered with a dog and cat clinic next door, so much of the decor is animal themed. There is a separate lounge attached for patrons who want to chill and sip coffee with their dogs. I'm not sure why, but I find this feature awesome! I brought my cat to Bark, and I felt completely welcome. And that's just the thing: the people at Bark are NICE. They remembered my name, they chatted about whatever, they were engaging, and they treat their customers like real people, and all the while without a hint of the pretentious, superior or hipster attitude that seems to befall so many baristas. So what else can I say? Dog friendly, cat friendly, friend friendly, and some of the best coffee in Seattle. Sounds perfect to me. The baristas are lovely, and though I have to walk past several coffee shops to get here, the experience has always been worth it. read more

I love this place. I'm actually allergic to dogs but I will go out of my way around La Bera and head straight here... thats how awesome the coffee and the employees are here. Super disappointed. Was really excited about the prospect of a dog friendly coffee place. There are two sides of the espresso place; the really nice side and then the dog side... which is dingy and gross. It was also really confusing... there are separate entrances. Is the dog side actually part of the dog sitting business next door? Either way, it wasn't a place I wanted to hang out for a prolonged period of time. Ok, I guess, if you just want to grab something fast and are not interested in sticking around. The staff is SUPER nice. Chai is delish, but I can find those things in coffee places closer to home. read more

What a wonderful addition to my neighborhood. The coffee is delicious, the decor bright and tasteful, and the baristas are as sweet, genuine and helpful as they come. When I heard one of them casually mention to a customer looking for a particular employee that she was out volunteering at a local non-profit for kids--that sealed the deal, and I wasn't surprised--they are the kindest people! They are still working out a few kinks with drink-making, so be patient--I predict they are here to stay. read more

Bark! Espresso is great! Dog-friendly and people-friendly! I had a burrito today and an Italian soda, and they were both delicious! Go next door, and there's a living room hangout for the pups and their owners. The next door over is a really cool pet store, with a lot of toys and natural pet food/treats. Popped in here over the holiday weekend (happy to have found them open) coffee awesome as always, friendly barista Bosha is happy and skilled at making her shots. I nice new addition since I was there over a month ago, not lucky enough to live close by, anyway, they have new pastries of the Italian variety. SO yummy, try the Almond Croissant as it will melt in your mouth. I don't have a dog in my life yet but I love seeing all of the folks with their dogs as they go into the dog friendly side or sit in the front outside tables. It is clear that the people who frequent Bark and their neighbor Great Dog love this venue. If I had a dog I know he would give this place all paws up! It's been a long time since I've been to a coffee shop in Seattle where they were all about theme and not about the coffee. I'm in Seattle for business and I yelped a nearby coffee shop. The novelty of the latte art here attracted me. I pulled up and tried to park directly in front of the shop, on the street, but I saw a knocked over sign that labeled that spot for loading and unloading. I drove around multiple times, even considered parking down the street and walking about .3 miles. But I finally saw an opening in their lot, which has two spaces. It's a very quiet shop. I thanked the barista for bringing my hazelnut almond milk latte to my table and felt I spoke too loud. This place is definitely a spot you can be productive and get a lot done. Apparently the other side is a place for doggie owners and their fur babies can hang out and order coffee and food. I saw a woman and her Yorkie, wishing I had my Pomeranian. They have good coffee and even though the shop is intimate, there's a lot of room for many people. I have a thing for alternative milks and this place has soy, rice and almond (it's an additional .60). read more

I ended up working a half-day due to a medical appointment in Northgate and I had about an hour and a half to kill. I did my "coffee shop" search on Yelp and sure enough Bark! Espresso popped up as the top search. I headed that way and it was super easy to find. The outer decor is simple to the touch and once you get inside it's very ambient. I really like what the owner did to the shop. There's beauty in simplicity and I got that from Bark. I ordered a 8oz decaf Americano and I gotta tell ya, it was the best damn coffee I've had. Cafe Larusso (locally harvested and distributed) is REALLY good, but Bark's beans were right up there (who's your supplier anyways?). Bark, you have made it to my top 3 of favorite coffee shops!
