This was our first time here... They brought our bichon-poodle out to us completely scalped! They cut him way too short! It is all uneven, some places longer than others and one place barely clipped at all and in most places he is almost completely bald! They cut his nails WAY too short, as they were bleeding. We have a Border Collie and Aussie... if anyone knows anything about either breeds it would be how much hair they have! We adore our fur-babies but there is nothing worse then trying to give them a bath at home. Thus over a year ago we found Bark 'N Bubbles and I was amazed not only because they had the proper equipment, but of their friendliness and how clean the facility is every time we go! We use the "You Wash" feature. Top three pro's I have are seen below: 1. Able to use an assortment of brushes prior to washing them (which helps eliminate matting), 2. Ease of walking the dogs into the bathtubs and tubs are lifted off the ground so easier to reach them then it would be at home, and 3. All equipment is there (shampoos, conditioners, and towels) best part the blow-driers are powerful enough to actually get the dead undercoat off both dogs! I only have one con, which is I live in the Reston area... so I can never make it to the store on a week night due to traffic. Therefore, we have always been on Saturday or Sunday - yet it is never too busy to get in. Both dogs are under 70 lbs, so it is $21 per dog - which I believe is extremely reasonable and completely worth the cost! Sometimes, we get blueberry facial shampoo just because I love the smell and its "fun". Overall, the most important part of our experiences has been our boys always go into and leave the building tags wagging and happy - perk for me is coming home to a clean bathroom! read more

Facility is nice but lady who groomed by dog was very mean. She did not listen to what I wanted and both times I have taken my dog there they have kept him all day long...in a cage. It doesn't take 8 hours to groom a dog. My dog was very upset the last time I picked him because he sat in a cage all day. Now when I take him for grooming he literally pees all over floor...he is so nervous. Will never go to this place again. Owner is nice, but she needs to fire her groomers! read more

I'm very pleased with my first Bark 'N Bubbles visit. Although I only came in for a nail trimming I will definitely be coming back for additional services. I was greeted very kindly by a nice woman, perhaps the owner, who played with my dog and engaged in nice conversation while I had to fill out the initial paper work. My pup is very wiggly when it comes to trimming her nails (probably from a bad Petco incident). The woman who trimmed her nails let me come to the back and hold her myself. My dog definitely behave since her mommy was able to hold her still. I really like how I was able to be there while she was getting her nails trimmed. The place was very clean and also sold organic treats and collar charms up front. What a neat concept to be able to wash your dog among other pet lovers. Even though I can easily enough bathe my dog in my own tub, I will be back! Update: I don't live in the area anymore but I visited family nearby and I decided that my pup needed a bath. So we dropped by Bark'n'Bubbles and I could have not made a better decision. There were two young girls running the show. Odd I thought, but they were the two sweetest girls! They were so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. This was my first time doing a "you wash" service here and they quickly told me what I needed to know. My poor pup hates baths and the girls could tell I was struggling. They came over and offered help and solutions to my problems without trying to "sell me" or "intrude." I could not have had a better experience. The shampoos and cream rinse are great quality. My pups coat came out so soft. They did sell me on the blueberry facial and I'm glad they did. It definitely took out my pups eye boogers without irritating her. It was definitely worth it, too bad they don't sell the blueberry facial separately because I would love to take a bottle home. What I really like about this place is how everyone here genuinely loves dogs. The young girl gave me a cup cake for my pup upon check out. She made them herself! She told me every ingredient that was in it (because some dogs do have allergies!) and said that's what she did Saturday night because she knew she was coming into work Sunday. I fed my dog the cupcake (with doggy safe cream cheese frosting and all) right then and there and she loved them! The sweet girl even came over with two extras to take home in a zip lock baggy! HOW THOUGHTFUL! I am so happy this place exist it's definitely worth it. read more

Been using Bark and Bubbles since just after they opened. It is great because my dog HATED going to another place to be dropped off and have someone give them a bath, and spend a fortune because he's a big dog. Now we go about once every 4-6 weeks, have great mom and pup bonding time. Takes about an hour. He is much calmer with the whole experience. I think he secretely likes it now! read more

I wish I could give zero stars but since I can't, I'll elaborate here. I walked in one evening with my Siberian husky and asked for a quote. The receptionist at the time took a look at my dog and his thick coat, then asked what I was looking to do. I said I wanted a bath and brush and was interested in their basic package (I think it was $30). She then told me my husky would likely need extra brushing and that it would cost extra (I wasn't surprised since my husky is usually pretty fuzzy as you can imagine). She quoted me $50. She also added that once the groomer started that she may need to do even more than that but that it was my choice on whether or not to proceed with extra brushing after the $50 mark. I asked her to have the groomer call me should he need more brushing to tell me how much more it would cost. We agreed to those terms and I made his appointment. Appointment day came and I went to go pick up my dog. I asked for my bill and she said it was $80!!! I was baffled! I told her it must have been a mistake because I was quoted $50 and I was told I would be called in the case he actually needed extra brushing. She wasn't unsure what to do so she asked the owner to come speak to me. I was expecting the owner to be understanding and fulfill the quote I was given, but instead she was rude and kept repeating that my dog was "hard work". Now I do understand my dog was hard work. He's 7 years old and has been groomed countless times. What I did not understand was how in the world as a business owner she would be ok with me paying for something I did not ask for. I specifically asked the receptionist MULTIPLE times to call me if he needed more brushing. I have never encountered a more unprofessional business owner. She clearly doesn't have any idea what her employees are telling customers. The lack of communication between staff at bark and bubbles is evident as while she was looking at the computer there was nothing noted about my directions. On top of it she mentioned the "fine writing" states additional fees will be charged for dogs requiring "more work". Well that's great, but if I want to pay $50 for a dog that maybe isn't hair free but pretty close as per my budget allows, that's my prerogative! In the end, she ended up refunding us $30, but it took my husband to go in there and have a discussion about her charging practices. She was not in the slightest sympathetic or apologizing about the inconvenience HER employees caused and even tried to guilt my husband by saying that by giving him a refund my husband was taking money from the groomer. That too was uncalled for. I'm sorry to the groomer who lost any money due to the poor management skills of bark and bubbles. If you want to have your dog groomed by a groomer who will charge you based on what they think is appropriate regardless of what you are quoted, then bark and bubbles is for you. I, however, will never go to bark and bubbles again and will continue to tell my friends to stay away. Good luck on your groomer search! read more

Our dog has severe allergies and anxiety issues and this is the first place we have taken her that goes out of their way to modify their usual grooming practices to keep her healthy, happy and comfortable. When I got there they told me they didn't have availability and were very rude and condescending... I don't need to be treated like that... my dogs will NEVER go back there... I told her she was losing clients and she didn't even care! I certainly don't treat clients like that at my place of employment... granted I work in an office setting and don't clean dogs for a living... but get real! This place is great! I have taken both a big and small dog and it was a pleasant experience all the way around. The tub area is kept very clean and the staff is very attentive and friendly. I used the U wash service, which means you wash your own animal. The experience is far better on you're back and knees then trying to wash an animal in you're tub! I would recommend this to anyone that had a dog and needs them clean. Additionally, the blueberry doggie facial was just the right thing to use to wash a dog's face-especially if you're dog is like mine and licks anything you get up near her mouth! The price is a little up there, but well worth it if you don;t want to rip you back and knees out of place! Lastly, the blow dryer is pretty cool~ my dog was totally afraid of it but I was able to bath her and dry her pretty good before leaving & she smelled good as well! Excellent place to take your dog for a bath. Quality ownership. Clean, well-organized facility. We use it for DIY baths for our Great Dane and Doberman. The tubs are super easy on one's back, everything you need is right there and is good working order, and the staff is professional, courteous and helpful. The price is extremely reasonable. If you're a novice, the staff will help you understand how to use the set-ups and make certain you and your dog are comfortable. We've been using this particular Bark 'N Bubbles for over a year and the quality is consistently terrific. Highly recommended. read more

The day we took our dog to this Bark 'N Bubbles in Fairfax for a self service bath, while we were waiting to take our dog to the tub room, we witnessed two golden retrievers who were left alone in the tubs by the staff. After about 15 min., during our wait, one of them was released into a gated holding pen. The other one was kept in the tub and it was still in there the whole time we gave our dog a bath. That poor sweet dog was so sad. It was soaking wet wrapped up in towels and didn't move at all. (tethered in spot?). We take along time to bathe and dry our dog,only twice did an employee go to it and only for a few seconds and acted very coldly to the dog, no comforting at all. Very poor service! We never take our dog there again! read more

Just picked up our dog from the groomers. It was our first visit here. They completely forgot to trim the nails on one paw and two of his other paws had nails that were cut way too short. His feet were still very dirty so they clearly didn't even do a good job with bathing him. I don't think they trimmed the hair on his face at all. The people there seemed very pleasant but I unfortunately would never trust my dog there again. read more

First time going there this past Saturday. I did the self service bath for $21 plus the owner was generous enough to not charge for the clippings of one of my dogs nails! Everyone working there were nice, helpful and looked to enjoy the job. The layout was spacious and the individual dog baths were great. Seems odd to pay $20 to wash your own dog, but it is so much easier than washing them at home. No shaking water all over your bathroom. The staff was helpful, providing shampoo, conditioner, towels, etc. I don't think I'll go there for every bath, but we will go back. My 7-year-old son loved the whole process. We have a 15 yo golden retriever who is declining. So glad we found Barks & Bubbles for his grooming. We self washed and the tubs have access in three sides. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. We are returning for a grooming appt where they have a service you can use and be the only client at that time, which if you have either an older or anxious dog you might find useful. This place is the best. The facility is clean, the staff is helpful, and my dog Snoopy loves it there. I always wash my dog myself because she is older and not comfortable with others but the staff helps so much with tips on how to best clean and brush her fur type and they teach you techniques and help as much as possible. What a great experience with great results! We did a 'you wash" & blueberry facial for my long haired shepard. They gave me 2 bottles of oatmeal shampoo, a bottle of conditioner and the blueberry wash for the facial. We've never done this before (always have left her to professionals!). IT was a great experience. Apron for me, towels for the both of us. We made a mess (she left a TON of fur in the tub) and didn't even have to clean up! I'm glad I never tried this at home. It was totally worth every penny. Told the staff I didn't know what I was doing. They checked on us often & offered helpful hints (even lent us the earmuffs so her ears would stay dry and the help block out the soundof the dryer). She doesn't like my hair dryer at home, so expected that to be an issue, but she was great! They let us stay as long as we needed - pretty sure I was there over an hour! Will definitely return and most definitely recommend to anyone. None of the dogs were upset or trying to get away. It truly was a great experience. Staff and immaculate facility alike.
