So I loved everything about 1900 Barker on Mass. Full disclosure I got confused with this lunch date and ended up at the OG 1900 Barker location on Barker and it was so small (yet undeniably charming) I was thinking I had to be in the wrong place. Turns out I was but it was a quick jaunt over to the Mass location. Walking in, it's exactly what you want a bakery/cafe to be: light, airy, charming, and warm. On top of that, you've got a full bakery case with all sorts of goodies and an enticing lunch/brunch menu. I went with their take on a BLT and my god was it good. I updated my side to fries and they were equally spectacular, though so big I couldn't finish them all on my own, which is not a problem I mind having! I purchased a cold brew to go for the way home and a sandwich for my husband to enjoy later - he reported it was equally good. My only qualm is that it's pricey, but I'm still sticking with 5 stars because honestly I didn't mind paying for it when it the food and dining experience was so lovely.

Was invited to a breakfast. The order consisted of Chicken sandwich with fries and Mocha and Peach Danish. The service was awesome and staff was pleasant. The ambiance was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend. P.S. they have two locations. can't wait to go back ASAP! Amazing Food

Location: Downtown Lawrence, big place. Ambiance: it is a nice place. Several tables. Outdoor options, too. Food: Pastries are delicious. Raspberry Danish was soft, and the cream was spot on. Mortadella sandwich was ok. It reminded me of portuguese/Brazilian style. Coffee: Was ok. Service: quick. You order at the frontdesk This a nice coffee place if you want a different option other than Starbucks. Please do come for the pastries

On a hunt to find a coffee shop and some wifi, we stumbled upon 1900 Barker on Mass. Recently opened, yet packed, we realized this was the second location of another coffee shop in Lawrence. We got waters, coffee, and a chocolate croissant. I tried the latte, and I was not a fan. Could have been the coffee, could have been me. I couldn't tell ya. I'm not a coffee connoisseur. The chocolate croissant on the other hand was perfect. Huge, fluffy and flaky, buttery and chocolaty. Service was quick and efficient. It was also a help yourself to free water kinda situation. The location was clean, the bathrooms were great, and the decor was industrial and trendy. It definitely fit the vibe of a well-loved coffee shop, with friends chatting, people working on laptops, and others casually reading. Super great place!

The coffee was pretty good, but the service was not friendly. It felt like I was an inconvenience for asking about the pastries.

One of the best coffee shops in town. Breakfast burrito is a must have! Go early though as supplies don't always last too long!

The food is always fresh, the service is always excellent, and the ambience on mass Street gives a very college feeling like vibe.

I took a meeting here and the person I was meeting with gave me a few local options. This was the place I hadn't been yet so I thought I'd go a bit out of my comfort zone and try a new spot. Something I was nervous about from the photos on Yelp was if there would be enough inside seating when I arrived for a meeting. When I pulled up, I was still a bit anxious about this as the front lot was full and I had to pull to the back to park. Once I got out of my car and walked through the cafe to the front to order my anxieties about seating had diminished. It's much larger inside than the outside appears and the photos here on Yelp don't really do the indoors justice. Yes, the outdoor seating is really cute and well shaded so I get why folks focus on it, but if you're like me and wanting to get some work done you'll find a comfortable spot here. Now onto the coffee. As I made my way into the shop I noticed one of my art school professors (we both sort of looked at each other like "do I know you?") and I moved on, but that's a good sign. The art teachers usually know where to snag a decent cup of coffee. When I ordered I tried one of their special drinks and chatted with the baristas about it before I made my choice. Extra points here because not only was the drink really, really good, but the girls working were beyond friendly and answered all of my questions. I'm not lying when I say this was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in Lawrence in some time. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Glad they got a location downtown.

The tea expert let me try the tea of the day, Oriental Garden oolong, which was really good to me. However, Eric R. likes green tea so we had to agree. He suggested jasmine pearls, and I agreed.
