I've been taking my three plus my mother inlaw's dog here for years. Love it! I know I can trust them with my fur kids and that's important. Sarah usually does mine including one that has severe yeast overgrowth which makes him very sensitive to touch which he will bite suddenly no warning. She has been so gracious to do him over and over. These girls probably don't get paid enough! Took in my sweet baby golden (8 months old) for his 1st big boy bath! They were so accomatiting with my schedule change. They were all so friendly! Genuinely seemed to love my #CooperReedTheDog I thought I was a crazy dog lady that thinks her golden is the cutest ever. They made me feel great, sharing love for my sweet 65 pound puppy! Our groomer loved him, gave him a blueberry facial! He was so beautiful when I arrived to pick him up! Looked ready for a commercial! I am so happy my daughter in law and another friend told me about this place. Ot is so clean, you can see the dog being groomed, and where they put the dogs in the kettles. My dog rocky is a hand full and they said he wasnt bad. I was taking rocky and sammy to posh poodles for a long time. Just because 1 of the groomers quit the owner said she dont know if they can handle rocky. The owner disnt even try to see if anyone else can take rocky. I'm so glad this place took them both. I tip them 5.00 each, my husband said I should.of tip them 10.00. I left feeling bad because they did a good job. So sorry didnt know. I'll make sure I tip them right the next Time. Can I just start by saying that my dog is a handful! He's almost 14, and he's terrified of the groomers. I warned them about him, and they said not to worry, they'll take care of him. Immediately, I felt relieved once I met my groomer. The groomer was so warm, and loving, I knew my dog would be in good hands. We've had mobile groomers in the past, that will just groom everything but his paws Because he gets too nervous, and they don't want to upset him. But he gets mats. I was expecting the same, no paws. But the groomer finished and my dog came out looking like he has never looked before, he looked amazing! And he feels amazing I could just see the pep in his step, he wasn't sore from being handled to roughly, he was feeling great. I asked how she did it, and she said they use the soft sock scarf to cover his eyes for the time that she did his paws. When he couldn't see the clippers coming he was much more relaxed. I take Otis (My 30 lb Terrier) in for regular grooming here, my dog is very shy and doesn't like people touching him but he loves coming here. I was really anxious about taking him anywhere as a new pet owner, but he has been coming to the wonderful people at Barking Beauties for almost a year now and Vivian must have the magic touch because she says he is awesome for her. The prices here are completely reasonable and you get can anything between a nail trim to a full groom with a facial. (And yes, I'm guilty, Otis gets the facial!). Every time I come in with Otis he comes out with a new do - Mohawk, Clean Shave, Summer Cut, and today we walked away with the Donald Trump Special (A comb over)! I've been bringing my dog here for about a year now, and I absolutely love it! My pup is a rescue so he's very skittish. He even ran away one time I brought him here. He made it about a mile down the train tracks, and their staff helped me chase him, catch him, and carry him back. Ever since, they always come out to meet us at the car when we have an appointment, and make sure he isn't there any longer than necessary. They really go above and beyond to help out. The staff is really friendly and the prices are ideal. I have a 45lb border collie. For him, we get a wash, brush, and teeth cleaning for $45 (including tip). I love this place and will be bringing my kids here for a very long time. read more

After multiple failed calls to a major chain that I won't divulge, I decided to call the salon I've walked past numerous times. Friendly service and they gave me 7-8 different options for appointments today. Dropped my dog off 30 minutes later and I could tell right away it was a good place. They were so welcoming and instantly helped my neurotic dog feel comfortable. They told me it would be a couple hours but the called within 75-90 minutes to tell me she was ready. They took extra precaution and gave her a hypoallergenic shampoo because they noticed her paws were inflamed. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the groomer's name but she was extremely professional and I could immediately tell that she loves dogs. They are absolutely the best. They gave us the best experience. After Petco turned us away and the vet said we'd have to sedate her we thought we would never be able to have her groomed or we would have to do it ourselves. Then we heard about Barking Beauties. We made our appointment and took her in as soon as possible. They assured us that anything she wasn't comfortable with, they wouldn't do. It felt very much like leaving your baby at kindergarten on their first day. I couldn't wait to pick her up. When they called us early and said she was ready we couldn't get there fast enough. When we saw our Cutie, we could barely recognize her. I was brought to tears with emotions. They did such a great job. They went above and beyond all expectations. She looks great! Her nails are short and smooth. Just the right amount of trimming was done to clean up her face and maintain her adorable, somewhat scruffy terrier uniqueness. I was able to make an appointment and was treated in a very friendly yet efficient manner both when I took my dog in and when I picked her up. When I asked how my dog behaved, I got the truth, that she was a little crazy, but there was no judgement or complaint. I appreciate the care taken to adhere to all the Covid health guidelines. I had a horrible experience here. Brought my English Bulldog for bath... picked him up 2 hours or so later and he was panting uncontrollably, wheezing, could barely walk... we went home condition got worse... called BB and they said they just noticed he kept drinking all of the water while he was being bathed... he's been acting funky ever since. He's almost three and has gone to the groomers numerous times, our usual groomer was unavailable when I needed. This was our first time at BB. Forgot to update * after having numerous of blood test, spending hundreds at the vet, my bulldog died 4 days after the grooming experience. He said it was a heat stroke. read more

Again, another long overdue review. I can't say enough great things about this establishment and the people they have providing service. I have a 14 1/2 year old corgi named, Zoey. She's in great health aside from some arthritis. She went deaf around age 8, and that's when she developed a dog aggressive trait. It's hit or miss when she comes in contact with another dog and it not only is very embarrassing for me, but immensely stressful. The vet explained there's nothing that can explain it other than possibly it just being her breed. That being said, she sheds like no other and ideally needs a professional de-shedding bath once a month. I won't name names, but I had originally found a small locally owned groomer off El Cajon that I thought was absolutely the best. Little did I know, after sending my boyfriend at the time to pick her up, I was very wrong. Being a veterinary technician of 6 years, I know it's very important to let places know even PRIOR to MAKING an appointment, about her aggression. She's never attacked another dog, but you wouldn't know it given the barking and snarling she'll exhibit. When he went in to pick her up, the lady behind the counter yelled at him, saying I was a terrible dog owner and that my dog was scaring their customers away...... I remind them, prior to bringing her in each time, and that if it's ever going to be an issue I can look elsewhere. They insisted it wouldn't be a problem. I had informed them that putting her in a crate with a towel over it so she couldn't see any other dogs is a full proof way of keeping her calm and quiet. Given that experience, I'm sure you've realized by now we switched groomers. That brings me to Barking Beauties. What a life saver these people are. They are SO KIND, to not only my senior citizen of a dog, but me as well. They're beyond accommodating. Know exactly how to handle dogs with her issue, or any from what I've gathered and make me feel so comfortable about leaving her alone there. Have a health concern? Let them know, they write everything down and make sure every last detail is accounted for. I can't thank the team enough for their over-the-top customer service, and knowledge of pets. I scheduled an appointment for my labrador and weimaraner about a year ago. I I dropped them off for regular baths, and after 4-5 hours with no call for pick up, I called the business. I was told they weren't finished yet, so I asked to come pick them up regardless. The young man who worked there did apologize but still charged me, and they could never tell me why it took so long. Since this experience, not one but BOTH dogs are terrified of being bathed. They even hide from the water sloshing noise from the dishwasher cycle. A year later, I wish my dogs could tell me what happened. They are seriously traumatized. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

My Lhasa Henry has a very beautiful long coat which we work really hard to keep that way. Our old groomer always wanted to shave him even when he just had a few mats around his paws. The groomers at Barking Beauty always take their time to brush him and and make him look fabulous! They are so sweet to him and in return make the stress of being groomed so much less. They also do a great job on my senior schnauzer. She always looks perfect. They are not the cheapest in town but not unreasonable. Totally worth it for well groomed dogs. read more

When I look for a groomer, I look for a few things- how well they treat my dog, how close the haircut is to what I described I wanted and the price. I had a groomer I liked before but after I moved to La Mesa, I was on the hunt for a closer one. I took my cockapoo to a couple of other groomers first but wasn't happy with the cut because she always ends up looking like a damn poodle (no offense to poodles or poodle lovers out there). Took our 2 LARGE dogs here for an overdue nail trim. I got a great first impression with the very welcoming staff and clean and open atmosphere. My dogs can get anxious with other dogs around and a million new smells, but the staff kept them both very calm and comfortable. Our Great Dane was first and was all trimmed within a minute or 2. Next for our Shepard/Malinois mix... Took myself and one of the staff to hold her (she's pretty strong) while the third did her best to trim and kicking 60lb dog. After numerous attempts and treats to calm her down we eventually got it done. I was sweaty and tired, but the girls never missed a beat! They were so polite and helpful in a rather stressful situation that they have earned my business and referrals from now on. My boyfriend and I have been here twice now for our puppy, Kato. I want to start off by saying that the people that run this place are awesome! The staff are friendly and have exceptional customer service! Our puppy is a little bit on the shy side and this last time we went when it was storming out. Yes, it's the perfect time to take your puppy out to the groomers! We called and they were able to take Keito in for a bath, nail trimming and teeth cleaning. For the service and 25% tip we spent a little over $30 for our puppy. Keito is a smaller dog (a corgi, terrier, and chihuahua mix) so for the care they took on him, that was pretty darned cheap! They always put something cute on him and put a nice perfume as well. Our pup walked in shaking and scared, but walked out with a waggle in his tail and big smile on his face. We will be taking him back again when he needs another grooming. We know that he'll be in great hands! The staff will kindly ask what you need, are patient, friendly and keep your pets calm and make them feel awesome afterwards! Lol I read reviews on this place and decided to take a chance. I called and was able to get my dog in right away due to a cancelation. Yay! Spoke with Brianna and she assured me my baby would be fine. The place was very clean and very presentable when I got there. I explained what I wanted and they delivered.
