Brought our 2 female corgis here on Wednesday. Georgie and Pepper needed a good scrubbing and a deshedding session, for sure. They were able to take both dogs for 60-90 mins and in the end, the girls looked very happy and were beautiful. Nicely groomed and no yucky dog breath (THANK YOU)! They also got a cherry-blossom themed picture TOGETHER AND SMILING - which is a testament to the talent of the staff. I really appreciate that the animals are not caged and walk freely around the shop. I was introduced to the Barkley Square Pets Spaah by a recent Living Social Deal. I have a pug who, as she is 10 years old, doesn't get too dirty -- so I don't get her groomed more than every couple of months. I didn't know they opened up a spot in Falls Church and when I saw the LivingSocial deal I decided to check it out. Wow, am I officially a fan. The employees are extremely nice and you can tell they love what they do -- you don't feel like you're walking into a stressful situation (as I have in some places) and no one is pushing you out the door. My pooch looks phenomenal and, thanks to the Furminator treatment Krista did on her, she is pretty much half the dog she was when I dropped her off. I've been bringing my 1 year old husky/shepherd/pyrenees (re: large, high energy, and very furry) puppy here since she was a few months old, and we both love it. Not only do they make her noticeably cleaner than anywhere else in the area that I've tried (and I've tried a lot of places), but she thinks she's visiting friends when she goes, and is very excited when we pull up to see Amber and the rest of the very patient and knowledgeable Barkley Square team. Although she doesn't require trims, she has had many of the other treatments available, and they are always done well and carefully. Overall, I can't recommend Barkley Square enough! read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Today was our first visit at Barkley Square. After a bad first puppy trim experience at another groomer, a friend recommended Barkley Square - boy am I glad they did! Melissa was wonderful and took such great care of my 6 month old mini whoodle. She took the time to come out, introduce herself and meet Brady, and asked what look I was going for. She texted pics of my pup mid groom to confirm that the length was what I wanted - this was greatly appreciated. Brady was in and out within an hour and a half! I picked up an insanely excited, happy, wiggly butt puppy which tells me they gave him the love and attention he needed while there. They even sent him home with a little welcome bag - he now has a new favorite toy thanks to Barkley Square. I'm so glad we have finally found a groomer that we can trust. We have brought our now two dogs here numerous times. We have a coonhound mix named Gypsy and a schnauzer mix named Shelby who are not well behaved, though friendly. This groomer is more expensive, sure, but every employee here treats your dog like it's their own baby. My dogs are thrilled to come into the shop each time, which truly means something. The products used are quality and without icky chemicals. They are clean, happy, and do an incredible job. read more

Be very very clear when giving instructions about your dog's cut. We stuck with this groomer after they cut our miniature schnauzer's beard almost completely off, we marked it up to miscommunication on our part. After six months of getting the beard back to any sort of length and finally getting some symmetry back in our dog's face they completely cut her muzzle lopsided. You can see the before and after below. The brown hair on her face is now only on one side. - this will take months to grow back. We were given a full refund but we won't be taking our schnauzer back. read more

I'd been bathing my 3 yr old pit mix at home since we adopted her this summer and I felt like it was hard to get her really CLEAN. Plus bending over to bathe her in our walk-in shower didn't feel great on my back either. I couldn't get her feet very well, etc. On the recommendation of a friend who regularly takes her dog to Barkley Square, I decided to try a professional grooming for my girl to get her good and clean for the Fall. Thinking maybe we'll get her professionally cleaned a couple times a year and do the rest ourselves. It was fantastic. She did just fine. I was worried she might get scared, not having been to the groomers before. But she was completely fine and happy when i picked her up. She got a good brush out so her shedding at home this week is definitely less and she was just so clean and happy. Nails trimmed, glands expressed. I will 100% bring her back again and probably more often than my original plan. It is quite worth it to me to not have to deal with doing it myself and washing towels etc afterward. read more

What a great place. I brought my 8month old golden in. This was his first experience with a groomer. The team took their time, easing him into all the different sounds (blow dryer, scissors snipping, etc). They played with him at the onset allowing him to get comfortable. When I picked him up, he was lovely-looking, and very telexed and happy. The team displayed great customer service to me and my dog. I'm so happy to have found this place. read more

My dog is 10 and we've lived in 4 different cities in his life, so we've tried a lot of different groomers! Barkley Square has quickly become our absolute favorite. They are one of the only groomers who has actually taken the time to brush out mats on my Maltese, instead of just shaving him down. My (very particular and nervous) little guy is so comfortable there, and they always give him personal attention. They offer cage free service! So many times we've come to pick him up and he is sitting in an employee's lap while they're working or playing in the office. They make scheduling a breeze online, have tons of availability, and are FAST! He's usually done within an hour and a half and always looks great. Plus they offer great add-ons like Dremel for his nails and toothbrushing! They may be a little on the pricy end, but they are worth every penny for the peace of mind and above and beyond service they give! read more

I usually have great service at this location but today I was pretty disappointed. My maltese came out looking like a poodle and at the end of the transaction the sales associate asked me if I was tipping. I left a tip purely out of obligation and awkwardness but i was pretty shocked. I've never been asked to tip a dog groomer--- but I've been to many groomers before, so I'm not sure if this is a new thing but regardless, you get more when you let people tip at their own will, not by asking for it. At least my dog came out clean and his coat was bright white... Just not sure if I will be going back here. read more

I've taken my dog there 3 times. First two times Anna did an excellent job and we were very pleased. Last time we went, the place was chaotic, dogs barking everywhere, very noisy and messy. Our usual groomer was not there, I was told she no longer worked there. This time they kept my dog longer then usual, the haircut was choppy, nails weren't trimmed, just over all seemed very rushed. When we brought our dog home she started coughing. She contracted kennel cough while there. The groomers is the only place my dog is around other dogs. My dog is 10 years old, this stuff is serious. $100 of Vet bills and antibiotics later, I called the owner and left a message. I've never heard back. Neither my husband nor I have received any of the "several" phone calls from this place. They never had an issue contacting us in the past to confirm our appointment, ect. It is very unfortunate that we weren't able to connect, as we were very hopeful to resolve this. Now a month later, we just want to move on. read more

I have always had good experiences having my dog groomed at Barkley Square. Everyone is very nice, they do a top quality job and my dog always seems very happy when I pick him up. Though I have always felt the cost was a little on the high side, to me it was worth it. However, ownership recently announced an across the board increase in grooming fees whereby the cost to have my dog washed and groomed has gone up almost 65% from $110 to $180. Including tip, it will cost me over $200. The reasons for the increase is inflation, which I can understand, and the impact of Covid, which I find hard to understand given that everyone and their brother seems to have gotten a new puppy during the pandemic. That being the case, one would think groomers would be one of the few businesses that has thrived during the pandemic, with the spike in business locked in for many years to come. Regardless of the reason for the increase, I am retired and have to be careful with my spending. As much as I would like to continue to take my dog to Barkley Square, the cost is just to high especially when compared to other options in the market. Regrettably, I'll have to take my dog elsewhere. read more

Absolutely love The Pet Spa at Barkley Square. The staff is great, the facility is clean, and our wirehaired pointing Griffon, Fiona, is pampered every time we take her there. Her coat requires special attention and they never disappoint us when they do her grooming. It's nice, too, that we can just pop in without an appointment to have her nails dremelled. Parking in the building parking lot is sometimes tight, but there are lots of spots available on surrounding streets. read more

I have an INSANE work schedule and my cat was in rough shape because I simply hadn't had time to bring him to the groomer. They took great care of him and he looks so cute! I took my maltipoo (Jax) and shih tzu(Abby) here for the first time today. I could not be happier with the way my two dogs turned out. Abby and Jax are both rescues. Jax had difficulty with grooming in the past. The staff was so caring and Jax was not as stressed as he has been in the past when I have picked him up from the groomers. I really would not know how the service is as I never received any service from them however was charged for half of the service. I went online to schedule as this place was recommended by a neighbor. I scheduled, paid, and thought I had everything set and ready to go. Several hours later I received a email asking when I'd like to schedule for and what my address was (which I had already entered)? When I responded that I had scheduled for this weekend and gave my address again. I was then sent yet another email saying that they where having trouble syncing the scheduling module, had the mobile unit in my area 1 1/2 weeks from now, and then asked if I'd like to schedule for one of the two days they offered. Once again I responded that neither of the days worked for me and that the reason I had scheduled for the weekend was that it was convenient for me. Once again I received another email reminding me of my appointment the following day at 10:30am. I waited around my house for them the following morning and they never called or showed for the appointment. I believe that if you know you are having issues with something that you should remove the site until it's fixed. I know that things happen as I run a business myself, but am a firm believer that the customers come first. I have sent an email and will be calling first thing Monday morning to get this problem remedied. read more

We first used the Pet Spa when we had a smelly emergency with our rescued Shiba. As dogs love to do, he had rolled in something nasty and we needed help getting him clean. Lucky for us, the Pet Spa was open on Sunday and they had an available appointment. I was so impressed with the groomers and the facility that I had them give our guy the full spa treatment. Very glad I did! Our Shiba has never looked or smelled better and, with his nails neatly trimmed, ears and teeth shiny white, he even seems to be happier! read more
