Tiffany did a great job with bathing him and when he was scared of the dryer I was able to hold him and help him through it. We found Kelli through a friend. We couldn't be happier. Petey is a one year old Schnoodle and is new to grooming. Kelli does a great job with and on him. He loves her and looks forward to going for his visits. As pup owners know, where you take your pup and how he reacts are very important. I took my dog to a lot of salons but this was simply the best in this area. Kelli did an awesome job On my Yorkie's cut. He seemed to love her and playing with other dogs. She is far from me as I live in Maryland but she is worth the drive. I took my dog somewhere else today for convenience in Rockville and regretting it now. His nails were bleeding when I picked him but and his cut was not complete. They still charged me $75. Please go see Kelli. She is awesome. This is an update to my original 6/23/16 review. At this point, our labradoodle has had 23 groomings with Kelli, at 9 to 12-week intervals (starting 5/14/15). Kelli is an unusual groomer in that she keeps detailed notes on her clients, allowing her to produce consistent and exceptional groomings each time. (Early on, at a dog daycare center, we experienced multiple groomers, with no consistency whatsoever). Her open format, allows dogs to socialize during their visit. Horner's Corner moved in 2018 to her current location at 370 Maple Avenue West, Suite #3, Vienna VA 22180, (across the street from Amphora); there is plenty of parking in the back of the building complex). We are so grateful that a labradoodle-owning neighbor recommended Kelli, and we have been so delighted, we recommend her whenever possible. Thanks Kelli! read more

NO STARS!!!! First off, the customer service lacks tremendously. I would not recommend this establishment for frenchie owners. Before anything I asked her if she has had experience with this breed, as they are nothing like others. I was pressed to fill out an information card , and the lady Kelly didn't even read the card before bathing my dog. I specifically wrote no blow dryer - please towel dry. A young boy started using a dryer and my puppy started foaming from the mouth. The young boy blow drying him didn't notice his eyes getting red or mouth or maybe how did but he continued. Kelly had to stop what she was doing to tell him to stop blow drying after at least 5 minutes. During the blow dry my dog kept hitting his body on the wall. Once all completed i looked at him and noticed his butt very red, not in the condition when we arrived. Once I started asking her about it, she said oh and walked away. Like what! Hell no do go here! I'm very disappointed and disheartened that my baby had to go through this. How traumatizing! read more

I currently have three dogs - two American Eskimo Dogs (of which one is a "Show" dog) and a short haired, 60lb., mixed breed rescue. I have been going to Kelli for at least the past 5 years. I started going to her when I got the American Eskimos in that they take longer to groom with all their fur versus my mixed breed. Generally speaking, I take my dogs to Kelli every month to two months and she does full grooming - meaning: bath, blow dry, brush, nails, ears, sanitary, etc. Kelli is very knowledgeable on how to breed specific dogs (i.e. American Eskimos, especially those that Show, should never have any of their fur trimmed or cut with the exception of neatening their paws and she knew that and that's how she groomed them, before I even mentioned my female would be shown.) I can also tell you from personal experience that no one other than Kelli has EVER groomed my male Eskie as gorgeously as Kelli (including myself as well as other groomers) and he's not even my show dog. He has this magnificent flowing coat and just looks exquisite when she's done with him. I can NEVER get him to look the way she does - and believe me - I have tried! (smile) I am very selective when it comes to my pets and who I can trust with them. I trust Kelli not only to do a great job with grooming them but I trust her with their well-being also. I feel confident they are safe and in good hands with her which is very important to me. Kelli truly loves dogs and that comes through very clearly. I also appreciate the fact that over time as she gets to know the dogs, she will point out anything that is potentially of concern (i.e. if she notices something different with their fur, or notices anything that could be health related.) I have know Kelli for far longer than the 5 years I have been going to her in that my mom had a Maltese, Bobbie, that was very sick with a heart condition, that Kelly used to groom for her. She required very delicate care and Kelli was the only one my mom could take her to that she wouldn't get nervous with. Kelli was also kind enough to allow my mom to bring her in early so that Kelli could groom her first and let her go home quickly where she was most comfortable. If you want someone that you can trust, is knowledgable, will do an EXCELLENT job, will care about your dog(s), and treat your dog(s) well, this is the place to go! Madigan, my Bichon Frise loves, loves, loves Kelli! And Kelli loves Madigan (and all her other pet visitors) right back! We've followed Kelli through all her Northern Virginia locations since Madigan was a pup (he's 11 now.) We've tried others when Horner's Corner was fully booked several weeks out, but always returned to Kelli to get the job done correctly. Kelli is friendly; her shop is always clean, and her prices are very reasonable. Her new location (with Kelli's special decorating touches) at 370 Maple Avenue West, Vienna, is fantastic! The pup always leaves Horner's Corner looking, smelling, and feeling great in one of Kelli's special scarves. We now live in Naples FL, and haven't been able to locate a groomer with anywhere near Kelli's abilities there, or points between, so we bring Madigan back to Kelli as often as possible. Kelli is absolutely the best groomer in the DC area, if not on the East Coast. read more

My first experience with a professional dog groomer and I was really impressed. From the moment I walked in and all the other four legged patrons excitedly introduced themselves to my pup, to today, the day after, and my girl is so soft and fluffy and smells so great. I stopped into this place while I was out because we just moved to the area and need a new groomer for our Himalayan and Persian cats. I walked in and was met by two unfriendly people behind the desk. I proceeded to say hi and asked how much it would be to get them groomed and the lady said "Starts at $95." That was it. I had to ask what it included..a bath, nail trim, shave? Get a personality, a smile and some people skills. I will take my cats elsewhere. read more

I stopped going to this place a couple of years ago because of the fact that they want you to come running to pick up your dog the second it is done. They did a semi decent job, but they also only take cash. so the inconveniences outweigh any benefit. read more

I will not be taking my dog back - customer service is below standard - wrong address for location on website - owner stated her website designer was at fault. And asked me "didn't you call?" . Yes, I did and thats how I got the address from the answering machine. Did not tell me when dropping my dog off that you have 30minutes to pick up after the grooming has been completed. 30minutes - REALLY!! Had I known that I never would have gone to this groomer - I work!! The groomer did call tell me after grooming had been completed and said I needed to come pick up now because he was leaving for the day and this isn't a doggie day care! I never thought it was. I am one of those dog owners who takes pride in how my dogs look, smell and are treated. I appreciate that everytime I take my dogs here they are treated with such great care, given hugs and kisses when they arrive. Getting groomed is such a stressful thing for my dogs and when they walk in the door he first thing they do is kiss the owner. That says something about how they are treated. I am always open to dog suggestions and these people see dogs everyday maybe they have something new I didn't know about. I have had professional portraits done here twice because they are gorgeous and done beautifully. I for one take pride in my dogs looking good and I choose to display them with professional photos. I am glad this is offered as an additional service. I highly recommend Horner's Corner because at the very least you know your dog will be treated well and look great!!! read more

I have 2 dogs, a daschund and a Catahoula Bulldog. Both have been washed and nail clipped by Mrs. Horner. I've lived in this area for 14 years and this is the most personable easy grooming service I've ever had with these two dogs. She even paints the toes of my Daschund, Daisy! Dogs stay clean and well groomed monthly. Kelli is easy to communicate with and has a wide array of options to choose from when selecting different hairstyles. The worst experience I have ever had with a groomer. I dropped my dog off and was told the most I would be charged was $85. When I picked my dog up it was $181!!! The owner claimed it took 2 hours to clean my dog. Where I am from that is $90/hour!! Only go here if you want to get a good dose of price gouging. Kelli is a good groomer but she raised my rate by 50% without telling me! She charged me $95 for the first grooming of my 40 lb. Italian Water Dog. I returned 8 weeks later expecting the same rate because my dog wasn't any scruffier or "matted" than the first time around. My bill was $145! I received no phone call or warning that the rate had changed or that my dog was needing special and costly attention. I feel like I was ripped off. Will never return. read more

Took my Australian Terrier Daisy for a full grooming today. She had a wonderful time and was playing with all of the other dogs waiting to be groomed or picked up. When I go to a pet groomer, all I want is someone who knows what they are doing and will treat my dog kindly. THAT'S IT. I don't want you to refer to my dog as "the baby." I don't want a 20 minute lecture on dog nutrition when I need to get back home to get family off for their day. And I don't want to be offered professional dog portraits when I myself don't go to a portrait studio. I was told on the phone that once my dog is done, I have 30 minutes to drop everything and come pick him up. FINE. But at least give me a 2 hour window indication of when he might be ready, especially, when I'm the second person to bring my dog in that morning. I'm losing my patience with people who get crazy about animals. Yes, we love them and take care of them, but no, we don't need to dress them in outfits, feed them salmon or talk to them as if they were kids. That's what children are for. If you're the type of person who reads bedtime stories to your dog and you find yourself turning your back on humanity lately, then this is the place for you read more

This was the first and last time we'll be going to this groomer. As others say, they won't give you even a window when to expect your dog will be ready. But worse, when she came home after six hours at the salon she drank two bowls of water - she obviously had not gotten a sip while she was there. She trembled for hours afterwards and flinched when we went to pet her. Now, two days later, she is sleeping an abnormal amount. Obviously, our dog was traumatized by this experience. I have been taking my dog to Horners Corner for over 5 years and have had very good experiences. I have never given pet care advice or been solicited for pet pictures or vitamins. I know they have a flyer sitting on the counter about pet photos but I never asked about it or was approached about it. My elderly dog always seems happy, well-cared for, clean and pretty when I pick her up. The 30 minute policy was a bit of a surprise the first time I went but just make sure you can schedule it on a day when you are around town. read more

Ok, I'm not sure what's with these other negative reviews but I've been going to Kelly for years and she's great!! Her grooming is top notch and the price is well within, if not under, what I've paid for other groomers. She also really seems to connect with the dogs and for little shitzu that's wonderful. Yes it's true that she only takes cash or check and she calls as soon as the dog is done for pick up but you know that and it's well worth it for the quality and service I get in her grooming and treatment of the dogs! Called this groomer today at like 410 and ask if it was possible to get my Boston Terriors' nails trimmed and the girl whom I spoke with was very nice.. she said all pets have left for the day but if I could be there in 10 minutes I could get my dogs nails trimmed. I arrived brought my Boston "Mia" in and was greeted by Kelli. Kelli was great took Mia and started immediately on trimming her nails... she was very friendly and treated Mia very sweet!!! I recently moved into the area and was in search of an honest, kind, and skilled groomer for my 10 year old Yorkie. I have been told from past groomers that he can be difficult when having his nails cut. He also can be quite a noisy pup when left in a crate. I took my pup to Kelli this morning for a full groom and I couldn't be more pleased. She gave me exactly what I asked for, she was kind, and her prices are more than reasonable. Her facility allowed for my dog to remain out of a crate which led to less barking and stress. The 30 minute pick up policy is completely reasonable and is stated clearly on the website and in the store. I can't think of one complaint! I will definitely be returning in the future! read more

Personally I love this place. Both my poodles go here. She keeps them in the same cage so they don't get scared and they coming out looking lovely every time. She loves my dogs as if they were her own. This is a small woman owned business not a factory line dog hair salon. If you want specialized attention and care, this is the place to go.
