We booked two ATVs that each fit two people. The staff were very flexible with timing and allowed us to push our reservation back by about 30 minutes, which we really appreciated. When you arrive, you sign a waiver and watch a safety video that goes over the basics before heading out. They provide helmets in a variety of sizes as well as goggles. Unfortunately, the goggles I received had a broken cushion. I didn't notice until we had already started the ride. I was able to push them up and keep them in place, but they should probably check through their equipment and replace items that are broken or worn out. There are two main routes you can take and have plenty enough time to do both: * Outlaw Jeep Trail: this trail is mostly flat and takes you out to the Honanki Ruins. There's a $5 fee to park your ATV there if you want to walk over to see the ruins. It's about a 10-minute walk round trip and a nice quick stop. There are also restrooms there, which is convenient. * Diamondback Gulch: this trail is much steeper and more adventurous with sections that go straight down and straight up. It's definitely the more thrilling of the two. They provide a map and a sheet with step-by-step directions so you know where to turn and stay on the correct path. They also have their phone number posted on the front of the ATV in case you need to call for help. Some feedback: 1. Replace or remove broken equipment. 2. It would be helpful to list suggested speeds for both courses. One driver was going around 30 mph, which felt a bit fast for the flat trail, but I wasn't sure if that was considered safe or normal. 3. Clearer instructions on the trail loops would help. We weren't totally sure if we completed the loop, and we noticed people entering the Diamondback trail from two different spots. Overall, the staff were very friendly, the ATVs were great, and the whole process was smooth and easy. It was a really fun experience. I would highly recommend Barlow for your Jeep rental while in Sedona. The Jeep I got was the green one, "Deanna". Not only did the Jeep look great, but more importantly it ran great as well. For what those vehicles are put through, it seems clear to me they definitely maintain their vehicles. Fantastic service, customer care and value! Booked a Jeep for 24 hours last minute. Reserved by phone and service was outstanding. Check in was quick and the manager gave us outstanding tips on the best trails in the area. Outstanding vehicle familiarization that covered all the bases. Our Jeep was a fully loaded Jeep Rubicon which handled the trails super well. Barlow's provided a cooler with ice-which was fantastic since we drank a ton of water on the trip! Used one Jeep for two adults and two young men (14/11). Left our car overnight at Barlow's parking lot with no issues. We took the dry creek trail past tons of hikers to the Devils Bridge trail. The bridge itself was packed- but the hike to the viewpoint was nice though crowded. Next we continued up the trail to an old homesteader cabin-slightly technical on the final push up for lunch. This was our favorite part of the ride-great views of the mountains and scenery and it was a fun quarter mile up to the cabin. Next stop- the Outlaw trail.We didn't make it in time for the ruins (closed at 3) but we enjoyed the trail-first mile or so and the last mile are the most adventurous. Great views of the red rocks throughout. Closed our adventure with the Schembly Hill road (following day). Return was easy. Solid COVID-19 mitigations throughout by the way. Loved the jeeps and the personalized customer service. The whole family had a blast! Tip-with kids-definitely display the roll and pitch indicators. I reserved a 4 door Jeep yesterday as soon as we arrived at the Hyatt Pinon Pointe. The concierge desk recommended that I make the reservation as they do often run out of Jeeps. I'm very glad that I reserved it.... It was the one of the last Jeeps on the lot. I had thought about reserving it even before getting out here, but I wasn't sure how the weather was and what the boys would have wanted to do. When we got to Sedona, the weather seems perfect for an off-road adventure. I was greeted by Nena who was very friendly and took her time to explain the terrain and the trails. She provided me with the trail maps and explained important landmarks and things to watch out for as well as things we want to take time to watch.... =] The first trail we drove was the Soldier Pass Trail which was very exciting. It was a relatively short trail which provided a feel for the moderate trails as well as the adventurous trails. Once we got the feel for trails, we were easily able to decide on our second trail per Nena's descriptions and instructions. I was hoping for the Broken Arrow (an adventurous trail) as our second trail which is very famous for this area, but due to majority rule, ended up going on the Outlaw Trail which is a moderate trail. The trail was very scenic with many wide-open views and gave everyone enough ride to call it quits for this trip. I've considered taking a Jeep tour offered by one of several Jeep tour companies. However, I'm very happy that we decided to do it ourselves. This provided the option of taking our lunch into one of the trails and have a lunch break at one of the stops. And by doing it ourselves, we were able to do two trails for a family of four for the price of a combo tour for two people. We managed to save a bit of money (and this is very important in this economy), and at the same time, I feel we really enjoyed it more because it was just us. We didn't have to accommodate anybody else except ourselves. We had our satellite radio blasting to whatever we wanted to listen to.... and we wouldn't be able to do that with a tour. Nena also gave us an ice box full of ice so we were able to get some sodas and load it up for the trip as well which made it great for the lunch off-road.... This was by far the best experience we have had with any vacation adventure! We were in Sedona for a wedding and thought this would be a fun thing to do. Little did we know how amazing it would be. 10 stars, if I could. I love these guys. The jeep we got was Elsa (A blue Rubicon with a superwinch wrap). She was a beauty, and handled even the craziest parts of the trails with ease. When we got the car, it was cleaner than the rental car we got in Phoenix (by leaps and bounds, which is AMAZING for an off-road vehicle in the dusty desert). Maps were helpful, and they included some trails outside of Sedona, which I appreciated. We loved Mingus mountain. Peter (or maybe it was Paul, or he said I could call him Mary... I'm terrible with names) was A-MAZ-ING. He walked through several different trails with us, even tailoring the choices to the fact that we are hermits and don't like people. He also gave impeccable feedback on when to go on what trail. This guy is someone that I would recruit to work for me if he wanted to move to GA. That's high-praise, because I am a control freak and don't trust anyone with my customers. He was funny, super informative, and efficient. Returning the jeep was easy peasy, and we met another gentleman who worked there (also forgot his name, because well, that's how I am)... SUPER nice. Asked the woman not to give us the Purple Jeep for very personal reasons. She made no effort to make this happen. At 4 years old I was nearly killed by a drunk driver. I was hit, ran over and dragged by a Purple Wrangler. You would assume someone would have general decency and kindness in their heart to be human and help customers in such a simple fashion. There are currently about 5 other Jeeps sitting outside (blue, red, yellow, silver...) Our reservation was for 10 am. We were ready to be on the road around 11. By 11:20 A.M. she had already booked our Purple Jeep out to a walk-in customer. She told us we had to wait until 3:30 PM for another Jeep to come in. When I went in to ask why ours was booked out so easily, but they couldn't switch the woman stated it was because she did "not want to do the paperwork to switch the other reservations that would follow ours" because that was "about 6 reservations" she would have to change in the computer. She blatantly said she did not want to do the paperwork to accommodate a customer with a very serious emotional request but would do paperwork for any other reason. When I went back in the store after watching our reserved Jeep drive away, the woman immediately approached me with her resolution to refund money and not accommodate any assistance to me. The associate never spoke to us in the 20 minute gap to state that out Jeep was being booked out to another person and never gave us another confirmed reservation other than to come back in 5.5 hours at 3:30 PM. For someone who claims their scheduling is so tight, I'm shocked they booked out a Jeep an hour after it's tight booking schedule as well as didn't give us a return confirmed rental for that afternoon. This place is an absolute disgrace. Don't waste your time or money. Ive read other reviews complaining of thrown out reservations. Seems like they do picking and choosing as to how little they want to work and little they have to care about humans as other humans. Poor business skills and disgusting customer service skills. read more

Going on a jeep tour in Sedona is almost necessary. My dad was very opposed to the Pink Jeep tours right from the beginning; he wanted to get in the car and drive it himself. Barlow's was perfect for this--there is definitely something way cool about doing the driving and exploring by yourself. The people helping us walk through the different "trails" to drive through were really helpful. We ended up doing Soldier's Pass and the hardest one, Broken Arrow. We found that the three hours allotted to drive around was just enough. The views were absolutely stunning. What an incredible place. So ridiculously fun! W booked the Jeep about a month in advance to make sure we have a spot, though when we arrived they had plenty of Jeeps. But I would definitely reserve in advance in case. We went in mid-May. The Jeep was clean and basically look new. Her name was Ivy and she is bright neon green. It look a few minutes to get used to driving it but quickly got the hang of it. Customer service was excellent. High energy, friendly, and explained everything well. I thought was I was going to forget how to change the gears etc but I didn't have an issue with that once we hit the off-roads. We booked half day, started at 2p and returned about 20 minutes prior to end-time, which was 6p. In about 4 hours we did two trails: Schnebly and Broken Arrow. Schnebly was VERY bumpy! It was a good starter trail. But Broken Arrow was a true adventure! I would definitely recommend this trail but after doing a beginner one first if this is your first time. Broken Arrow can be intimidating but we figired it out. If we can, so can you! read more

Amazing! The best $300 I ever spent. Forget renting an ATV. Forget hiking. Forget biking. Rent a Jeep from Barlow and you'll have the time of your life like I did. Sedona is an amazing place in one of my favorite states. One of the things that makes Sedona so amazing can only really be experienced from the miles of off road trails throughout the area. There are many ways to experience those trails, but none come close to traversing them in a Jeep. I'll write review of the specific trails later, but here is what I experienced by renting through Barlow. Check-In: I rented a four door at the last minute for half a day. They recommend (as do I) making a reservation in advance, but I wasn't sure this would make it on to our agenda. During check-in we were given a run down of all the trails available, the difficulty of the trails, and the recommendations of the employee. I opted for one moderate to adventurous trail (Soldier's Pass) and one full adventurous one (Broken Arrow). Once the trails were chosen, I was given maps for the trails and very specific tips for the more difficult obstacles. The maps were helpful, but if you're geographically challenged, make sure you understand the maps before you head out. Jeeps: This is where Barlow shines. Our four door Rubicon had a small lift, chopped bumper and tires had been aired down to about 25 PSI. The light modifications and tire pressure made for smooth riding and incredible off road ability. I was amazed at what I was able to conquer in this nearly stock Jeep. Watching some of the ATVs try and do what we easily did on the trails was almost comical. Even if you have no off road experience, the Jeep will do all the heavy lifting and make you look like a seasoned veteran. Return: Everything was checked for damage and we were on our way in about 15 minutes. I highly recommend you rent a Jeep from Barlow. Next time I am in Sedona I will be doing the full day rental without a doubt. read more

We checked both Yelp and Tripadvisor.com and decided to do it ourselves instead of joining the tour. It's cheaper and you can go about it at your own pace. We called a week before our trip to reserve the jeep. We wanted the jeep at 10:00am but for 4-hour rental, it's either 8:00am or 1:00pm. They told us to check on the day of to see if there is an earlier time available. Since it was a weekday, we were able to get our jeep earlier since not all jeeps were rented out. Check in was really easy. After getting out driver's licenses and insurance info, the lady (sorry, forgot her name) gave us a brief introduction of all the different routes we could take and make some suggestions. She then gave us the maps of each route to take on the road. She also gave us a cooler to keep our water nice and cold for the road. We had to call her once because we were confused and wasn't sure if we made the right turn. She was really friendly and nice. The jeep for the 4-hour rental with taxes came to a little over $200. It was a little pricier than I thought. We didn't buy the $25 additional insurance (for dents and flat tire). But after getting on the road, we thought maybe we should have. The trails were REALLY rocky and bumpy. Luckily we didn't have any dents or flats. But we also didn't go on the difficult trails. I'd highly recommend you buy the additional insurance if you're going to go for the more challenging trails. Very friendly and easy company to work with. Next time I visit and need a jeep to get around the trails, I'd use them again. read more

Tons of attitude, said she had never heard of my auto insurance company and refused to take my policy details without talking to someone on the phone. Problem is, my company is closed on Saturday, so there was no way to verify details. My friends tried showing their insurance and we all tried calling, even waiting on the line for 20 mins, but she wouldn't take anyone's information because she was offended that we had initially "pushed back" when she demanded that we call our insurance company.
