I had surgery here and was impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of all who helped me. Dr. Mudie was patient about answering all my questions and checking to be sure I was comfortable. Everything was very clean and staff did everything they could to make me comfortable. I was there for a total of 2 hours which wasn't bad. The procedure didn't take too long. They gave me clear instructions prior to the procedure and instructions for after-care. The office called me at home to see if all was well and Dr. Mudie also called to see how I was doing. I have a follow up appointment next week but am doing as well as I can be after surgery. I appreciate the care I was given. read more

Kinda disappointed with how impersonal this practice has become. All of the staff shouts from their chairs behind the reception desk at customers to "USE THE KIOSK" when you open the door. When you call the phone number on file you get a central office that doesn't know how each of the offices works. If you go to see the optics center be prepared for the rudest team members to tell you how you've filled out the sign in sheet wrong and then tell you they can't help you after a certain time of day cause their website takes to long for them to finish orders. First of all wait times for ANY appointment are more than 2 hours & if you try to call & ask a question you will be on hold for at least 30 minutes. At some point they stopped taking my insurance and never told or informed me. In fact the receptionist I spoke with told me it would go through. Now I have a bill from back in October I can't pay. I recently had an appointment here. Upon arriving for my appointment I checked in at the kiosk near the front desk. At this kiosk, I submitted my identification and insurance card. After submitting these, I went up to the front desk and due to their system being down, they did not verify whether I was checked in or not. They informed me that once their system is running again that I would be completely checked in for my appointment, and asked me to take a seat. While waiting in the lobby, the receptionist called me up to the front desk and informed me that I had a $10 co-pay. Since they charged me for the $10 co-pay, I thought that I was completely checked in and my insurance was verified. They did not ask me for my current insurance information as it had changed from the previous insurance that I had the year prior. Since i had checked in at the kiosk, provided my new insurance, and was charged the co-pay, I thought that my insurance was verified with them. Further, I am called in for my appointment, and my appointment is completed. I was provided with my new prescription for my contacts and glasses. As I was trying to order my new glasses at the company, the employee's system was down again, and she was not able to verify the amount that I would pay for my glasses with my insurance. The woman notified me that she would call me at the end of the day once your system was up to complete my order for my glasses. When the woman called me at the end of the day, she informed me that she couldn't find me under the insurance Avesis (this was my precious insurance). I informed the woman that I no longer had insurance with Avesis and that my new coverage was through Eye Med. The woman then put me on hold, and when she got back on the line, she informed me that their Provider does not accept Eye Med insurance. She then asked me how I checked in when I arrived for my appointment, and I informed her that it was at the kiosk. I also informed her that I was never asked to verify and provide my new insurance information but that I was charged a co-pay. This led me to believe that since the company did not verify my insurance, they assumed that I was using the insurance that I had it from the year before. I asked the woman if this meant that my whole appointment was not going to be covered and she told me she didn't have the answer to that and that someone from the office would contact me. I was never contacted by them, but was sent a bill charging me for the entire appointment. It is very disappointing that this company did not verify my insurance with them. If they would've informed me at the beginning of the appointment that they didn't accept Eye Med then I would not have stayed for my appointment and found a Provider who did accept my insurance. Due to the fact that I am being charged for the appointment, I am not financially able to purchase my new pair of glasses that I am in need of. read more

Early in 2021 I saw the doctor at Barnet Dulaney Perkins in Oro Valley for my initial exam for cataracts. I have breathing issues and am not able to wear a mask for long periods. The staff in Oro Valley allowed me to take breaths when I needed to and the appointment went well. I was referred to the Wetmore location to meet with the surgeon. On that day I wore my mask over my mouth and also a face shield. When I walked in, an incredibly rude woman yelled across that room that I must cover my nose. I was so embarrassed as the lobby was full of patients. I tried to explain my situation however "little miss rude" wouldn't speak to me so I asked to speak to a manager. I was asked to wait outside. I stepped outside...no shade...no seating...I sat on a potted plant! After about 15 minutes the supervisor arrives. She did not care what my story was, if I didn't cover my nose, I had to leave. AND she was going to "report" the Oro Valley office for examining me!!!! This situation was so upsetting at 70 years old that I waited a year before I tried again. Fast forward to today...I had my cataracts removed by Arizona Eye Consultants, a very professional and caring group of individuals. I just had my last check up yesterday, I can see .... The office staff doesn't to be trained very well and are not helpful or knowledgeable. Finally, they are more concerned about the bottom line and getting you to pay more than first notes. I went here for the first time last week and saw Dr Olsen for a medical eye exam. As some of the other reviewers have noted, the lobby was busy and a bit noisy; however, I was seem almost immediately. The exam and time with the doctor were fine; I never waited more than a few minutes for the next phase to begin. My moderate rating is due to the fact that someone in a different city sets appointments and answers questions. Both times I've called these people were nice but didn't know much about the Tucson office. And I could not call Tucson myself. When I called to set my appointment, they began a record for me with my demographic info. When I arrived, the Tucson receptionist couldn't find my record so started a second one. From her reaction, I can only assume that this happens often or at least was not an isolated case. If they can improve their administrative processes, it will be a much better customer experience. read more

They could not be bothered to tell her on the phone that her husband could not only not come in the waiting room, but that I was not allowed to sit in the waiting room. So, I had to sit in a hot car when it was 107 out. The sign on their door says service animals are allowed. I would not even make my dog sit in the car. Criminally negligent lack of communications.
