I have 2 teen drivers and somehow we keep ending up at body shops! Jim and his team did some great work for us a few years ago when we had a small bump with another car and didn't want to bother with insurance--he gave me some options and explained the differences and was super quick. That repair held up great. More recently, another fender bender and I was going through insurance and they recommended a different shop, but I didn't really agree or understand the other shop's guy, and I took it to Jim for a second opinion. Jim's estimate came in slightly lower but more importantly I felt like he was able to explain to me the different options clearly about either quitting the claim so it didn't get totaled or doing the salvage title or just getting the money and giving up the car. On Christmas Eve (12.24.2020) my front bumper interior shield fell off as I parked to close to the curb. I ventured out today (12.28.2020) to get estimates from body shops around Columbus to get it fixed. One shop quoted me $850. I happened to be in the Short North as I was running errands today and thought I would check out this body shop to get an estimate. Jim, the owner, said he can get it done for $50 and within 30 minutes. Looks I didn't need brand new parts at all! He also was kind enough to remove some scuff marks on the bumper. The turnaround time is quick and staff are courteous. They keep the customers' cars in a well-lit fenced area. The only downside is the shop is a bit difficult to find. However, this is probably the only body shop in the Short North, so it's worth the trouble if you are in the area. Great service! I came in to get an estimate to fix a side view mirror. They sat down with me and gave me the full breakdown of the prices. Getting all new components the price was already half the price of what the dealership wanted to charge me. Then they went out of their way to find some cheaper used parts for me and cut the price even! Fast, friendly, and great service for significantly cheaper than the dealership! It is with utmost pleasure that I recommend doing business with Barney's Auto Body Shop. A large truck reversed into my vehicle causing damage to the front bumper, hood, and fender. I took it to a few body shops around Columbus before going to Barney's Body Shop, where Jim immediately reviewed the vehicle and ensured me that it could be fixed. I needed the car to be done in five days so I could leave town, and even though the repair was more than five days worth of work, Jim was able to prioritize my job to ensure that it got done on time. He also touched up the entire car, fixing scratches, small color splotches, and dents around the car. For this repair, the opposing party's insurance was refusing to pay for a rental car over the weekend since I dropped it off at Barney's on a Friday. Jim talked to the adjuster and ultimately worked with me to convince her to authorize the rental for the weekend! When I came back five days later to pick up the car, it looked like it was new! The quality of work was excellent, and the service was outstanding. They not only were extremely friendly, but had me fixed up DURING MY LUNCH BREAK, and was incredibly affordable. None of the typical mechanic upsell stuff either. Simple.
