I'm the daughter of a mechanic and my dad was unable to service my car with him because he's in the hospital. Because of that, I'm ABSOLUTELY weary of mechanics because I've been done dirty of ones who don't have the same integrity as my dad. Lots of unnecessary up-selling and repairs unnecessary for a rebuilt salvage title vehicle and TONS of scare tactics to make more money (very common with single women trying to get car repairs) That being said: my experience at Auto Emporium was a breath of fresh air after a ton of bad experiences. I had a general idea what was wrong with my car (difficulty starting/misfiring/stalling). They took detailed notes in what I could provide about the problem and instead of wasting time digging around, they reached back out to me for additional rounds of questions TO REALLY pinpoint what the root problem was. Too many mechanics are too stubborn to reach back out for questions of the owners which can help diagnose problems sooner - it's a huge time waster!! So having their staff with a running list of questions had my car fixed SAME DAY. That timeframe was absolutely insane to me. I love that they also took the time out to itemize EVERYTHING that came up on the inspection and while that did have a price tag, I now have a to-do list of the next repairs coming up so I can save up for them. It's relieving having answers for things that could be problems later. Additionally, since like-items were itemized I could pick and choose the repairs that absolutely needed to be done for this visit. One of my concerns was the hours of operation, but they have a great little lockbox system for car/key dropoffs. So don't let that deter you from using their services! All my in person/text/phone interactions were all great! My car is starting and running beautifully again after them flushing out my transmission system same day (which is a huge relief because I was trying to organize rides for 3am work shifts) That being said, if my dad is still out of commission for the other identified issues, I would totally come back and have them do the repairs. read more

Well, I took my car here to have the transmission checked, they changed the fluid and charged me a diagnostic fee to check out the car. Then they recommended a transmission replacement. Quoted me a charge of anywhere from $3,000 to over $9,000 for a remanufactured transmission. I took it to a transmission shop and all it needed was a higher level of fluid. Saved me at least $3000. Take your car here at your own risk. read more

They do amazing work... I bought a vehicle about a year ago that was unknowingly a nightmare of hidden issues and everything that could go wrong with it, has. Everyone at this shop has been amazing every time I have taken it in. They are so honest, they keep you informed and updated the whole time, and I can trust leaving my vehicle in their hands knowing they are knowledgeable and aren't going to charge me for anything I don't agree to. They have been my saving grace on some pretty big issues multiple times this past year and I am so grateful for their knowledge and expertise every single time. When I read about Auto Emporium's family owned business and company values I was impressed to say the least. When the word honesty is on their marketing advertisements I knew they were different. They completed my oil change in one hour and thoroughly answered my questions. I learned that they send hand signed Christmas cards to all their customers along with a gift card of appreciation. I really wanted to like this place, but in the end I'm left disappointed. Long story short, someone hit my parked car and did a little fender and wheel damage and their insurance agreed to pay for the repairs - great! When it comes to auto shops, I tend to make my choice carefully, because a good honest mechanic is important and lends to a better experience overall. When I spoke with Sarah on the phone, she seemed genuine and honest so I decided that even though the shop was 30 minutes away (farther than any of my other options), it would be worth leaving my car in good hands. Well, it kind of went downhill from there. I told them the insurance adjuster invoiced the wrong wheel on the estimate and it was a concern of mine. I was later cc'ed on the email to the adjuster asking for a supplement for the correct wheel - which I had to point out was still incorrect. No big deal, mistakes happen - but it wasn't really that close (spoke pattern was completely different). I was told it was likely the car would be completed by the time estimated by the insurance adjuster. I emailed the day of estimated completion to check on status and indicated my rental was due back that day. They told me it would be done the following Monday and that I'd need to contact the insurance company to extend the rental. Car was actually completed Wednesday. I understand estimates aren't always accurate but I at least expected someone to reach out to me with that information and not depend on my initiative. I had an issue with the insurance check which was my error, and I certainly don't fault them for that but nothing could be done until a new check was received via mail to that address. A little disappointed something could not be worked out digitally. When I went to pick up my car a week after it was completed, I looked at the body work before going to the desk and noticed the drivers side tire was flat (wheel was replaced). They filled it up and I was on my way. About a mile down the road on a turn my back passenger tire popped off the wheel (tire was likely also low). I called them and explained the situation. They said they didn't work on that wheel and couldn't help. Fair enough - but shouldn't someone at least look the car over before releasing it? I put on the spare and drove to the nearest tire shop and paid to have it put back on - thankfully the tire or wheel was not damaged. I get on the highway to head home and notice the car was not properly aligned (the steering wheel is at about 12:30) even though an alignment was on the invoice (front wheel was hit). Along with that I'm getting road vibration at highway speeds (the new wheel likely wasn't balanced properly). I called Sarah and explained everything that happened in the last hour (flat front tire, rear tire fell off, not properly aligned, wheel vibration) and she told me I can bring it in Monday and they'd take care of the alignment and I'd need to budget about 1.5-2 hours. Honestly, at this point I'm not really sure I want to extend this relationship any further - even if they offer to cover it. I'm willing to give one or two, maybe even three passes. However, this wasn't just one or two things - this was a lot of things. I guess I'll just take it somewhere I trust and pay out of pocket. In regards to the actual body work, it seems like they did a good job. So for that, I gave two stars overall. I'm a little baffled by my experience given all of the other positive reviews. Like I said, I wanted to like this place - but in the end, I'm out. read more

After 3 chances to fix a small issue, they still could not get it done without me standing there and watching. ** BEWARE THEY WILL OVERCHARGE AND CHARGE YOU BEFORE YOU CONSENT IF YOU DONT ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS** They were nice but they charged my girlfriend $350 to replace a battery. I spoke with Matt earlier in the morning and he said they will waive the diagnostic fee in some cases if the repair is greater (which this was) but batteries in particular they won't waive the fee because they "don't make enough money on the labor" if they didn't charge her the fee. I asked what the criteria is and he said it varies but pretty much it's whatever he wants to decide on. I thought that was pretty crappy, especially since she never consented to the diagnostic as we knew it was battery or starter. They checked brakes, blinkers, windshield, etc. for a car that wouldn't start... likely took them less than an hour all together and for $350 my gf got a car battery... next time we will go somewhere more trustworthy and who even gives a shred of care for their clients. read more

So I'm very mechanically inclined, I'm an aircraft mechanic, and can usually repair most problems with my vehicles. Electrical isn't my strong suit, so after doing everything possible mechanically to fix my wiper arm/motor issue I decided to take it in to get looked at. After doing a diagnostic they determined it was a bad motor even though I replaced it. They were very helpful and informative and found no other issues wrong with my truck. The suggested if it is something I can do on my own that I should do that, they did not try to insist they do the work. Also, while on the phone with them my other vehicle started to act funny and they willingly tried to help me troubleshoot what could be wrong. Their laudable reputation also pertains to their good working relationship with our insurance carrier, getting the right parts and level of work approved within an acceptable budget. Walter, the owner, sought to be accommodating in getting my car roadworthy while waiting for more cosmetic parts to arrive during certain supply chain delays. These guys were recommended to me by my neighbors who have taken their cars to them for years. Auto Emporium performs all types of repair from transmissions, to engines, and brakes. The staff is curteous and takes the time to thoroughly explain the repairs. They also perform a complete diagnostic to let you know any upcoming service which may be required. As a bonus, they provide loaner cars free of charge for any extended repair. All they ask is you replace the gas you use. Recently I needed my AC compressor, plugs, and wires replaced. The service was done in about 5 hours at a reasonable rate. All parts came with a warranty and I even received a free oil change. These guys have been my mechanics for over 7 years and I would recommend them to anyone. The staff is always courteous and Walt the owner will walk through the car with you going over your options if you have a lot of questions. Their hourly price is a little high for my usual taste (the price has gone up a little since i first started going) but I pay for the service and trust. They know my car and know who I am. The office staff takes time to talk to me and get to know us. They bailed us out of a warranty problem we were getting from Suzuki (side note don't buy Suzukis). Walt called up the company for us and went over everything they did. They also understand people who are struggling to get by as my wife and I were in college during some of our worst car experiences and they always worked with us to get us the best deal. They even let my dead car sit there a few days before I could get it towed away. They look to help out and are a family institution. Best part is that if you are in a jam they will either drive you home or provide a loaner car free of charge. Sometimes they even have a few vehicles on hand to buy. Great place. read more

Recently had the misfortune of a deer being flung into my car from another vehicle at 70 mph on the interstate. It was a challenge to find a body shop in my area that wasn't backed up due to deer season, so I called here. They were able to get me scheduled only a few days down the line, and did a great job with my car. When I first came in, they offered to get me a rental car for free if my insurance wouldn't extend a couple of days to have more time to work with (luckily my insurance was fine with it, but it was very kind of them to offer). When I went to pick my car up, it came back not only repaired, but also totally clean and vacuumed. This place is the real deal. They have been servicing all of my vehicles for a few years now and I am so satisfied with the pricing and work that has been done. The first time that I went there they gave me an estimate on all of the work that needed to be done to my car. I needed a new motor mount among other things. They ended up quoting me at a price that was FAR cheaper than another shop and they ended charging me about $200 less than the quoted price. The people are extremely flexible and fast. The receptionist Sarah is so helpful as well. She knows so much about cars so instead of just telling you what is broke and how much it will cost she walks you through step by step using diagrams of what they will need to fix and how much each step costs. I highly recommend this company for your vehicle repairs. They are straight forward and don't try to take advantage of women. I had problems with my A/C and another problem with my gear shift stuck in park. They did a diagnostic test and discovered a fuse problem and corrosion on my blower. My family has been going to Auto Emporium for as long as I can remember. I bought my first car from Walt, and when he looked it over for the last time before selling it to me, he noticed that the tires were close to needing replaced, so he bought new tires for the car without increasing the price of the car. It is important to Walt that the car you drive is reliable so that you can enjoy driving it instead of thinking of driving as a chore. When I was stranded in Cleveland with battery problems, he walked me through some tricks to start my car to get it home and then he gave me a discount on labor when it was just a loose connection to the battery. When I was in an accident, he talked to my insurance for us when we were having trouble understanding what they were talking about and gave us options when we thought we had no choice but to total it. He walked us through the steps and title changes to make my car street legal again after it was totaled as well as doing all the body work to fix it. I had them work on my car and he told me that it would be a couple hundred more than origianl estimate because he had to by a wire harness, well I agreed and when I went in to pick up my car I wanted to see the wire harness he had to purchase and told me about over the phone, well long story short he lied and all they did was put black tape on a frayed wire and charged me over $ 300.00. I was very mad but what can I do. I had to get my car back . This shop is just like many others ...they will rip you off if given the chance. Plus I hate being lied to. read more

We've been with Auto Emporium for almost 20 years. Looking for just an honest mechanic with fair prices, I found them on Angie's List. My 3 girls have grown up in the cars that they have kept running safely, and all 3 have now purchased their first cars from them. Walt has gone above and beyond to make sure their cars are in good running order and safe to drive while 2 of them drive to and from colleges out of town and out of state. My middle recently lost control of her car and put it up against a guardrail. The insurance company declared it a total loss. Walt called the insurance company to try to convince them that he could repair it for less than the value of the car. Though they declined, my daughter elected to buy the car back from the insurance company for Walt to fix. Walt walked her through an otherwise intimidating experience of getting a salvage title, and getting it inspected after repairs to put back on the road. I found this shop through a search engine and let me tell you I couldn't be happier, from the moment I called Sarah was very friendly and professional so I decided to go ahead and make an appointment when I got there I was quoted a price so I instructed them to go ahead with the repair. Sarah had told me that they were down one technician and would not be able to get to it until the following day which was perfectly fine with me however, They actually repaired my vehicle the day that I took it in. John called me once the repairs were complete to let me know that the repairs were complete and any other issues that I may have had with the vehicle, here is the most surprising thing that I experienced and is also what sets them apart from most any other auto repair shop that you will go to. As I stated before they had quoted me a price when I took my vehicle in however, once I got there John told me that he was able to do the repairs cheaper and charged me actually quite a bit less than the price I was quoted. I don't personally know of any other shop that will quote you a price and find that they can do the work cheaper and still not charged you the quoted price. I will certainly recommend auto Emporium to all of my friends and family and hope that this review encourages you to use their services as well. read more
