I recently had the water pump replaced on my vehicle at Luke's Auto Shop. Unfortunately, shortly after the repair, I discovered that a coolant hose clamp associated with the water pump had been left improperly installed. This caused coolant to leak into the engine bay and could have led to much more serious engine damage if it hadn't been caught quickly. A mistake like this is concerning because the cooling system is a critical component, and something as basic as verifying that all hose clamps are properly secured should be part of every final inspection before a vehicle is returned to the customer. That said, I also believe it's important to recognize when a business makes a genuine effort to address a problem. Once the issue was brought to the shop's attention, the service manager handled the situation professionally. While the original workmanship issue should not have occurred, he did what he could to make the situation right by listening to my concerns, arranging for the vehicle to be checked over, and working to restore my confidence in the repair. No repair shop is immune to mistakes, but how those mistakes are handled matters. In this case, the initial repair fell short of the standard I expected, but the service manager's professionalism and willingness to stand behind the work improved what could have been a much worse experience. Overall, I hope the shop strengthens its quality-control procedures to ensure critical items like coolant hose connections are verified before vehicles leave the shop. If they do, I believe they can provide a much more consistently positive customer experience. read more

I went to Luke's about a month ago, because I needed to get my transmission flushed. I was incredibly happy with the service. First of all, when you set up an appointment, you can request a loaner car, so that you don't need to wait there for the car, and I didn't have to miss work. I also saw a different rep ordering someone an Uber for a different customer because who didn't have appointment so there wasn't a loaner available. Secondly, I originally went in for a transmission flush. While I was at work, I got a text and email of the inspection they had done. The inspection was really easy to read, and gave me different levels of recommendations for other things that needed to be done. Some things were urgent, and some things were needed soon, but not urgent, and there were some things that were for maintenance only. On my lunch break, I called my service rep, and he was able to talk me through all of the things on the report, and explain things to me, because I am pretty illiterate when it comes to cars. I ended up also getting my drive belt replaced as well. But my rep made sure to let me know what the price would before I decided to go through with it. At the end of my work day, I drove my loaner car back to Luke's and picked my car up, and was on my way. Overall, the inspection report, and the loaner car I think is what really separates Luke's from the rest. When I've taken my car to get an oil change or the tires replaced at other places, i've always had to wait in the lobby and its a waste of time. I lost no time with Luke's and knew exactly what was happening to my car. Take your car to Luke's if you want incredible service. read more

The issues started some time ago when Luke recommended power steering service to my vehicle. The cost was over $4,000. It was so high that whenever I went in there for additional service later, the customer service rep would remark about how much they had charged me for the work. However, despite the high price, the power steering system there after failed. Since the repair was still under warranty, it did not cost anything other than my time to get it repaired, but the concern was they admitted that they had used non-OEM parts, which was surprising given how much they had charged. After the power steering system was repaired, I took my car in for a brake job. Once again, I noticed issues. I took it back and discovered that the rotors had warped because they again used non-OEM parts. Shortly after getting that issue resolved, the power steering system failed yet again and once more it was due to using non-OEM parts. During one of the many conversations about these issues, the customer service manager told me they fired the original customer service representative who arranged the initial power steering system. I was surprised they would fire a customer service representative over the wrong parts being used. Then it occurred to me that they might be paying their customer service representatives a commission, which would encourage them to upsell price while reducing cost. That would explain why they kept using non-OEM parts on my repairs even though their policy called for manufacturer parts to be used. I then decided to do a little online digging and found that it does seem that Luke's pays a sales incentive to their customer service representatives. Job postings indicate a wage range from $50,000 to $125,000 and state that job skills must include overcoming objections. This would imply that the polite and energetic customer service representatives are paid to inflate price, reduce cost, and sell customers repairs that may not be needed. That certainly appears to be what happened in my case with multiple repairs. After bringing these issues to the attention of management, the service level I received decreased markedly. Twice I reached out to the owner himself via LinkedIn and was told each time he would personally look into it and get back to me. I never heard from him again in either situation. The customer service manager at the location I use promised to arrange a rideshare to pick me up from my office after the car had to be towed after the last breakdown, but the arrangement was never made, leaving me stranded at the office after hours. I arranged my own rideshare to get to the facility and retrieve the keys to a loaner car that was to be on site for me only to find that no keys had been left, thus leaving me stranded at their garage after hours. I had to hire another rideshare to get home and then return to the garage the next day to get the loaner vehicle that was supposed to have been arranged for me the day before. I have since called Luke's twice and left messages on their voicemail, inquiring about my service records so I could understand what other maintenance might be due on the vehicle. My calls were never returned. Certainly, being greeted with a smile, having a nice lounge to wait in while cars are being repaired, and having loaner vehicles available for those who do not have the time or desire to wait on premises are all great! It seems that the clients appreciate it. But at the end of the day, what we all want is a car that is repaired correctly, using the right parts, and at a fair rate of labor. We pay tens of thousands of dollars for a vehicle and must trust that a mechanic will do the right job without taking advantage of us. By apparently paying their customer service reps to inflate pricing and use cheap parts, Luke's has violated this trust. All the customer service hypein the world will not change that fact, and as I can no longer trust them, I will no longer be a customer. read more

He also issued a refund to make things right and offered to repair the problem. I really appreciate his honesty, integrity, professionalism, and commitment to customer service. Sadly gone downhill since creating their campus on Sinclair and opening 3 more locations. Dented the roof of my vehicle during an oil change. Still charged me for the oil change. Car was dropped off on a Monday and they were going to take it to the body shop in Powell who was going to do the work. Body shop called me Thursday to see if the car was still being dropped off. Luke's forgot to take my car to the shop. My car was worked on for almost 2 months to get fixed at that shop. Service Manager at Luke's took maybe 1/2 of my calls when following up. Zero follow up to make sure I was happy with the finish on my vehicle. Never say never, but I doubt they'll ever see a dollar of my money moving forward. Seems customer service isn't a thing with them anymore. Sad after over a decade of using them. read more

Came in today for a routine oil change and was in and out in no time. Super easy process setting up an appointment and everything was seamless. One of the nicest lobbies I've seen in a mechanic shop and they provide coffee and snacks while you wait plus free WiFi. My quick service advisor was Kelly and she was great. The workers at Luke's auto are honest and efficient. I've had poor experiences at other mechanic shops going alone but I didn't feel as if I was trying to be taken advantage of here. I definitely see myself coming here again for routine maintenance. read more

I drive cars a long time and Luke's keeps them on the road. They work on everything and are usually 25% less than the dealership. After the initial inspection they text you pictures of any problem areas and then let you decide if you want to proceed with the repair. They also provide a free Uber to your home or work if you are dropping off. Waiting area is not as spacious as the dealership so better to drop off. If you need a mechanic, I would highly recommend. read more

TIME BRINGS CHANGE. This is for family's that have to make choices and try to be smart about those choices. I don't leave bad reviews without merit and sometimes you just have to help other people be aware. We have had Luke's work on our vehicles in the past, but the place has definitely changed, and not for the better. We got a quote from them on the phone for a basic 100k engine valve adjustment that is in Hondas published recommended service interval schedule. The price quote came reluctantly because they now prefer you bring the car in for a proper quote because they know "you care about your car". That's actually the schtick now folks. We checked with another Luke's and around a couple of stealerships and called back to schedule the appointment, asked about the key drop and what time it had to be there. We dropped the car off the night before so it would be there cold (required for service) first thing in the morning. At 9am got a call from Sandra asking about what was wrong with the car and what all we wanted to have them look at. After explaining that we talked to Christian about the engine service and had setup the appointment on a follow up call with Samuel, she explained that they preferred to do things the right way and wantedu to take the car for a test drive to identify potential issues that they could recommend solutions for at a cost of $65. I said no thanks, we already had a quote for what we wanted done and had dropped the car off based on their schedule just for the engine service. Sandra said she would have to get with a shop manager and tech for a quote (huh?) and called me back 30 minutes later with a quote that was 150% increase from the quote I had gotten from Christian and let me know that they would squeeze it in to tomorrow's work. Seriously. These are basic bait and switch practices that erode a persons confidence in the business. A complete reversal on the pricing and timeframe for the repair without any explanation, no acknowledgement of any "mixup", nor any apologies - because after all, they want to do things the right way and I just wanted to get the recommended service done which was not part of their strategy. For us this situation is not satisfying and creates a lack of trust that equates to a total waste of our time dropping off and picking up the car and even trying to use Luke's for auto service at all. We had great results in past years, but this was a total blowout in every category. If you can't trust Luke's to keep their word on quotes and to communicate basic scheduling accurately, can you afford to expose your family to the potential headaches of following through with their plan for "doing things the right way"? By the way... The Luke's Upper Arlington location quoted the job at 3x the price that we were quoted at Sinclair Rd - so red flag from the beginning and it is obvious at this point that we should have walked away.... And, probably why they don't like to quote on the phone - because they need to know who they are talking to and they are aware that once you are there, you are likely going to rationalize the news of their on the spot quote against the value of your time. Run screaming. I couldn't get my car in my usual shop, so I called these guys to get a bid on work. I knew what work I needed from my shop -- I just needed a quote. The first guy I spoke with asked me to confirm that I already knew what was wrong (and I did) and then still told me he wouldn't give me a quote -- that I needed to bring the car in for a free peek. I was bothered, but I let it go. Several hours later, I was still stewing over the imposition on my time and called back again. I'll give them a second chance, I thought. In the meantime, I'd talked to several other shops. I asked the second rep, a different guy, if I could get a quote for the work I wanted. No. I said it didn't need to be binding, just an estimate. No. I mentioned that I had several other bids and if I didn't get his, he wouldn't get the work. No. Ok, fine. Never again will I waste my time here. I know you desperately want to put my car up in the air and magically find five things wrong with it and try to fleece me like a rube. Nah, I'll just never talk to you again. Customer service that will leave you feeling like you need a shower. Have a nice life! read more

IF YOU ARE GETTING WORK DONE ON YOUR CAR GO TO STREAMLINE AUTO IN COLUMBUS. Luke's is a great place to get an Oil Change, and the pros are they can get you in and out same day. However, They are criminally overpriced. Streamline for example quoted to give my car a diagnostic check for $85. And that the $85 would go towards the cost of any repair. For reference, lukes was $130 plus tax, and none of that cost went towards a repair. They quoted me $750 to replace an O2 sensor that I can get off of amazon for $30 and replace myself. Some pros, but if you are getting your car actually repaired find another dealer that has honest pricing. read more

I don't comment very often about poor service because I normally accept the service provided with a smile and understanding that no one's perfect. In this case, I was disappointed on a number of (read: too many) fronts: Failed to install brakes correctly given an initial clicking like noise in the back brakes...evidently, the front brakes were installed ok. Went back to shop to evaluate problem and was told I needed to reschedule an appointment to replace the back brakes...no real explanation given on why, although they said it was safe to drive. During an out of town trip, prior to the scheduled appointment, the brakes started squealing at a high pitch and smelled like burning rubber. Fortunately, what ever was happening, the next day the screeching was gone although the rattling noise was still there. I contacted the shop and was told they would move the appointment up, "and work it in" given my concern over the possibility of the screeching noise and associated safety concerns returning. I was told "even if it makes noise it should be ok". The fact that I had to drive back (1 1/2 hr drive) the "should be ok" part was not comforting. This is the part that really got me to get on this board and vent... When I got there 20 minutes before I told them I could be at their shop, they reminded me that they go to lunch at noon and may not be able to get it done before the lunch hour. I reminded them I was told an hour and a half to complete the job which would mean that instead of completing the job that I would have to wait another hour for the extra 15 minutes it would take after lunch. Really? Bottom line: Didn't get the job right the first time. Had to reschedule an appointment when problem was identified as opposed to fixing it immediately. Had to drive a car with potential safety issues after problem worsened. Unwilling to make a minor exception to their lunch break when they caused the problem to begin with. Lastly, I was told they would replace the brakes...they did not...which really irritates me given the half hour (not an hour and a half) they worked on it...not even sure what was done...couldn't they have done the same thing the first time the problem was identified? Oh, and the price was the highest of the other businesses I contacted, but I thought given the other posted reviews that it would be worth it...boy, was I wrong. Nothing was offered to offset the additional costs and time I spent dealing with the problem they caused. Won't be back...assuming, of course, that the problem doesn't rear its ugly head again. read more

I used to go to Luke's when I lived closer but had moved so now using someone else. I ran in at 513 PM on a Fri afternoon (they close at 530!) after hitting a curb & flattening a tire. I was close to Luke's, so I pulled in explained that tho I was not currently a customer, I had been & could they possibly help me out? I had 2 clients waiting & needed quick help because I couldn't wait 2 hrs for AAA. They immediately responded, chkd the damage & called a tech. He got the car inside & got the spare on for me in 10 mins. THEN he said there'd be no charge! I've always had a good experience at Luke's but this was above & beyond. I know they are pricey but they're also good folks with a good corporate "personality". read more

Took car in and told them to replace the starter, they charged a diagnostic fee to tell me the starter needed replaced. This was not needed, I told them to change the starter. They then damaged the exhaust while doing the repair. Proceed to tell me I needed to pay another $140 to have them diagnose the repair needed for what they damaged. Will not be taking my car here again and I do not recommend them. Company greed is getting way out of hand. read more

Best shop in Columbus!!! Moved here from out of state 2 1/2 years ago and we've tried many shops, all were decent but not worth an amazing review. When we started a search for a higher end but secondhand cash vehicle, we found Luke's dead inspections for $140. So we ended up bringing a couple vehicles to loops to be inspected prior to purchase. The value of inspection was incredible. It was several hours of work, dozens and dozens of photos and long discussion on exactly what they entailed and what our best value was. We have now went here repeatedly for other servicing and have had nothing but a fantastic. I especially appreciate that they have a little kids toy area, a super clean space inside including bathrooms and lots of drinks and snacks. It feels nicer than most dealerships I have visited. This makes it comfortable but also very simple to be able to bring my three-year-old, even for a couple hours at a time, to have work done. Some of my favorite people so far have been mechanics, Matt, Sam, Blaze, And James in the office. We have found the pricing to be pretty much on par with everywhere else in the area, maybe slightly more expensive sometimes but not substantially so. The service and work is WELL WORTH it though!! read more

Lukes has a 5 Star Rating for a good reason, as I found out first hand this week. My 2006 GMC Yukon has about 315,000 miles on it. Its uncommon for Yukons to get this far, however I have taken good care of it and sought out the best professionals to keep it running. None the less, many shops turn their nose up when looking at a vehicle with such mileage -they simply say "its not worth fixing." As a geologist, I depend upon my Yukon to traverse the USA to visit study sites. I also frequently work in remote areas where break downs are more than inconvenient - they can trash a project budget and put you in jeopardy, especially in the desert. I recently detected a subtle sound that resembled a playing card stuck in the spokes of a bicycle. It was hard to hear and most people could not pick up on it. After being dismissed by the other shop I have used for 30 years, I went to Lukes newest location at 4818 Reed Road in Upper Arlington. Aaron treated me like I had just brought in a new Lexus... even though my vehicles retail value is about $5.43. He then listened carefully as I laid out my concerns and asked effective, diagnostic questions. Once on the rack, they just did not glance at it or "give it a listen" but worked like physicians diagnosing a tricky case. They put one mechanic in the car and one under it. The mechanic in the car ran the engine at various speeds with the wheels rotating while the other mechanic used a stethoscope to isolate the sounds from each drive train component. They isolated it to the Transfer case. At this point, they again went beyond the standard level of investigation. Rather than just check to see if it had oil inside of it, they pulled a sample to see what kind fluid was present. It was not transfer case oil (75W90) but automatic transmission fluid. They then got on line, checked the Carfax history and contacted the folks who last worked on it - and requisitioned the paper work to dig into it further. They even had the manager of the other shop drive over to meet with me. The professionals at Lukes operate on a level I have not seen before. As a scientist, I can recognize good investigative methodology. These people are something special. I wish my family doctor operated with this level of insight and diligence. I will add this. When the manager of the other service provider showed up, he was dismissive. As a guy who has some expertise in petroleum and is courtroom veteran, I turned up the heat on the shop that apparently screwed up. I was not uncivil, disrespectful or insulting, but I was blunt and direct as a litigator. Aaron navigated this event with the skill of a diplomat. I was beyond impressed. I was blown away. It is a mistake to take your vehicle to anyone else but Lukes. If you want your problem solved the right way, these are the people to go to. read more

About a year after I wrote this review, I went back to Luke's and had my tires rotated. The next evening I was driving on I 270 and the wheel of my 02 Subaru Forester spun OFF OF THE CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH. I very easily could have died. Car was totaled. Luckily no one was hurt. At first they seemed contrite, and offered me a courtesy car to use to get back and forth from work while my insurance company was working to get me paid. Soon after though, they changed their tune completely. They denied any fault referencing a check list they had, (as if my car's wheel had not spun off less than 48 hours of being serviced by them). Obviously I've never been back. Shows you their honest/independent business image is at least partially a facade. Think twice before using this shop. read more

I've always had a good experience but the last few visits have been kinda iffy to me. I had that apparently were bad on tread and was told it would cost $900.00 for a new set of tires with an alignment because you obviously need one with new tires. The thing is though, I drive a 2017 Honda Civic. I looked at tire shops and it would not have cost me that much for a new set. They also keep pushing for fluids to be drained as well but its way too expensive and I believe they were asking for around $350-$500 for that. Moving on now, I recently went for an oil change to be done like normal and when it was said and done, they brought up that all 4 of my brakes and rotors need replaced (They did bring it up last december as well.) They told me my brakes were on basically life support and all 4 of them as well. This last visit, they quoted me around $1600 dollars to get all 4 brakes and rotors replaced. That is super out of my budget, so I asked some people I know who can be trustworthy with honesty and work. I found another shop and they got back to me within about 2 hours and told me my front two rotors and breaks are fine (about 75% life left in them is what they said.) I feel like their work is good but I feel like i was lied to honestly. They unfortunately have lost my business due to this. They're super nice people in the office and I get money needs to be made but with the way the economy and how expensive everything is, you shouldn't lie to people about parts they do not need or offer options where some stuff only needs replaced. I will also note that they do send pictures of the inspections themselves and they did not bring up the front brakes or rotors at all. The person checking me in said all 4 brakes and rotors were recommended to be replaced. Maybe someday I'll give my business back but I just don't like dishonesty or things being super overpriced. If they told me I didn't need to replace all 4 rotors and brakes for the price they gave me, I would not be writing this review. read more

Honest is as honest does. Believe what is done, not what is said. Auto was dropped off for a basic service, as requested and was scheduled in advance. They then commandeered our auto after telling us that they were going to keep it for a week and refused to release it claiming that it needed additional repairs they claimed. No offer of a loaner was made. Interestingly, their invoice didn't show the break out for parts and labor for this additional work - but we know how much the needed parts cost and how much we paid them for labor despite them. Thankful it's over and have no desire to return. read more

I'm once again impressed with this shop. They swapped out my thermostat and other cooling system items quickly and efficiently. They don't sell you what you don't need. The work is done quickly and they communicate well. Their internet systems are very easy to use. This shop isn't close to my house, but I'll keep going there because of the honest work at a decent price, and the quick and effective repairs. They take a lot of the stress out of car problems. read more

Update: I decided to revise my review in light of Luke's Auto having very good customer service. They reached out to me with no accusations, we talked the work through and they offered an apology and we had a good discussion. There could have and should have been better communication on the noises with their mechanics, and part of that is my own. As a former wrench I understand how difficult 'noises' can be to track down with only notes from the service writer. Two levels of noise to overcome. Funny example: Ages ago I went with my to the Cadillac dealer and as a car guy he gave a long detailed description of the problem with his Caddy's steering to the service writer. When we got the car back (transmission shifting noise fixed) on the paperwork, he saw that all that the service writer wrote on the ticket for the mechanic to go by was 'FIX CAR'. Ah, old school. We discussed in the future having a drive post work, or pre work with a shop rep that would have gotten the specific noise in this case straight. They have made good on the situation and I was impressed by their genuine concern to do better. ------------------------------------ (shortened) original I've used Lukes Auto several times and have recommended them. I'm the car guy my friends ask questions. I've come to the conclusion that Luke's is good for regular maintenance: oil changes, fluid changes, tune ups etc. Nice people. Not good for: anything that's not 'regular work' or diagnosis or pricing. I took our Volvo in for a fairly loud creaking from the suspension, rock the car back and forth it's there, every bump you hear it. They called and said it needed a new engine mount and front sway bar links. Ok, get it done! Car back the next day....zero change. Did anyone even bother to test drive it? For ~$1300 they should have. Took it back, the shop foreman came out and rocking the car back and forth it was pretty obvious. The next day they call and it's the REAR sway bar links making the noise, but our Volvo has an aftermarket sway bar so they won't do it, unless they replace the whole bar etc for $$. I said no thank you, mistakenly believed them, and had a local shop change those rear links for $300...nope, they were wrong again. I asked that mechanic to look, and shortly after getting it lifted on the rack - the big rear trailing arm bushings were cracked and moving all over the place. No idea how Luke's missed it. Took the guy 10 minutes. I understand they train mechanics and all go to the same church, so maybe they are learning, but these are just 'parts changers' as my grandfather called them - just keep throwing new parts at it until the problem goes away. Give these folks all your car business! I went in for a used car inspection, and had just the best experience. I've found my new auto shop. Everything is so organized and neat, the employees seem happy and joyful - which says a lot about any business I think. All the customers coming in an out seemed happy. The prices seem to be very good. The mechanical technicians are honest and so helpful! Chris was my tech, and he was such an awesome person. He showed me the underneath of the car and all the parts, even helped me figure out some tech things on the inside. We had a great interaction, and I can tell I'll be in good hands for the future. This is the exact kind of place you want to rely on during a potentially stressful situation - you'll leave feeling like someone has your back. read more

I would not recommend Luke's Auto Repair if you want an honest or skilled mechanic. I took my car to Luke's after it began significantly leaking oil after a change at a local oil change shop. I informed Luke's that I had an oil change, and then five or so days later, my car had leaked all 4.2 quarts and was nearly empty. Luke's said they would perform a diagnostic and get back to me. Luke's then sent me a report and quote. They said that my oil cooler had a leak and needed to be replaced. The quote for this and the diagnostic, and to clean the engine because it was coated in oil was over $3,700. This felt high to me, and my father, a mechanic of over 60 years. I used RepairPal to see what this would cost at another mechanic, and was surprised to see that the estimated cost for my car and area was $500-650. RepairPal offers on its website a list of local mechanics who will honor the quote on the website--so imagine my surprise when I clicked the link and the FIRST repair shop to show up was Luke's Auto Repair, who is allegedly RepairPal Certified. I called Luke's to ask why my quote was so high, and was given a strange and defensive answer: the online quote would not be honored, it likely didn't include labor (it did), and they had included a replacement of the turbo in my car (not listed in the written estimate, which to my understanding is not a permitted business practice in Ohio). I finally just resolved that I would not be having my car repaired by Luke's because they would not explain why the estimate was so high and refused to honor the online quote. I had my car towed to Ernie's Auto Repair, who gave me a more reasonable estimate. After it was towed to Ernie's, the mechanic there called me and said he was confused. He's inspected the car and found that there was NOT any kind of leak in the oil cooler, but that whoever had changed my oil had left the O ring off when they changed the filter. He had checked it and run it multiple times and the leak had resolved. He couldn't believe that my car had been inspected twice - once by the oil change shop, and again during the Luke's diagnostic, and neither had noticed or pointed out this simple and obvious issue. Luke's followed up with me to see how I enjoyed my repair, and called me when I reported that my experience there was awful. I told the technician about the issues with the quote and the RepairPal estimate, and that Luke's had MISSED the real issue with my car. He took it to his manager and called me back twice. Neither of those times was to refund my $80 diagnostic, but was actually to say they stood by the "recommended" repair, and that it was not "necessary" and to say it was really hard to tell what was wrong with my car because of the excessive oil. Oil and grease are par for the course for a skilled mechanic. The technician did not offer an explanation of how they missed such an obvious issue of the O ring being missing beyond the engine being covered in oil. Ultimately, I paid Luke's to do a diagnostic of what was causing the oil leak in my car and they failed to do that, misdiagnosed the issue, refused to honor the RepairPal estimate despite being a RepairPal Certfied mechanic, and then tried to charge me $3,700 for a repair that ultimately cost me $16 for parts and labor. read more

I lost the hanger bearing on the drive shaft. Of course it was recommended that the universal joints be replaced as well. During the inspection of my truck they also found the tie rod ends needed to be replaced. Nick one of the Service member crew. Helped keep the price within reason. Very late review; however I would only recommend and return to Luke's if you're okay with extremely high prices and inconsistency despite being a loyal customer (for about 3 years+ as the car had been regularly worked on at this shop) and Luke's being my first auto shop as a first-time driver and being a young woman. I acquired a vehicle that had already been getting service from Lukes, an old 2005 VW, and parts are expensive as they are shipped overseas, however after each visit something new needed to be replaced for an insane amount of money (3k+, etc) After paying for these vital pieces and having the reassurance that would be enough. My car immediately broke down and more issues were raised (that weren't made available before the bigger purchases) At a simple oil change, the pieces broke while under maintenance and I was given an estimate in the thousands for a permanent fix and a 60-dollar semi-permanent fix. However, I had been going for a while and getting regular oil changes. On a positive note, they did however provide renter cars for the long times the car would be in possession as well as Uber rides to and from my home, however, overall due to the inconsistencies, confusion/lack of transparency, and incredibly ridiculous prices, I'm going out of my way to write this review of my personal experience and not recommend this shop. I am new to Columbus and very grateful for Luke's. When I first moved here, my catalytic converter was stolen and my insurance didn't cover it. I didn't know where to turn! Luckily I found Luke's and the guys there were great, very helpful and courteous. Now I trust them with my car's upkeep. It's so tough to find an honest mechanic but Luke's is the real deal. I went to get my car checked for a slight rattling that sounded off. And they came back to me recommending I replace my whole transmission for $7k!!!!! I went to get a second opinion and they said there was nothing wrong with the transmission and that most dealers will recommend a new transmission for Fords. I went to Luke's a couple months ago they did a inspection said my wheel bearing needed replaced. Sched service and they said it didn't need replaced . Said well it didn't cost you. It did cost a day to find out. Si I gave them the benefit if the doubt on that. My other car was having a issue sometimes the ac worked sometimes not I had a coupon free ac check so sched. Well the coupon only means they will look visually evidently cause the dye portion cost me 166. They came out to say ac compressor failing sometimes so it would be 3100 to replace. They called me after I posted negative review to say it's more than ac compressor that's why the high price but I actually had this happen to other car and it cost 1200 . They are definitely on the pricier side, but truly the service they give is 100% worth it. They always do a full vehicle inspection and give you a full outline of everything that needs done now, things that can wait but should be done soon, things that are looking good, etc. I always feel so taken care of. All of the employees are so helpful and kind. I literally don't bring my car anywhere else because I know the quality of service I get at Luke's is unmatched! They even buy you free Lyft's to and from the shop if you need transportation while your car is worked on. I've never had a bad experience here! read more
