Single mom, came in and had test drove a car. Told them my rate and they didn't "believe" me . I was set on purchasing the vehicle but wasn't sure on which "warranty I wanted" since they didn't think my APR was "right" they hard pulled my credit. Time went by and I had to pick up my son and told them I would be right back after I dropped him a off at my sitter where my other child had been for over 3 hours ) Im literally gone about an hour (including bad accident on highway) There was miscommunication amongst the "fellas" and I came back they literally sold the car from under me. After they HARD PULLED my credit. I was very upset but left and found the same model 10,000 miles less and better deal AND 300 cheaper admin. read more

PARTS DEPT. Needed a key fob for my M5 and rushed across town from work to make it before the Parts Dept closed. I arrived literally 2 min prior to published closing. It took--you guessed it--2 minutes to walk into the showroom and find someone who could tell me where Parts was. I asked them to call real quick in case they were leaving to, perhaps, wait a minute until I could walk upstairs. As pilots sometimes say, "No joy." I arrived practically in time to see the exit door still shutting as whoever was manning the counter was vamoose! The idle salesman, watching something on his computer screen, could barely look up to ask if he could help me. When I explained what I needed, his interest was conspicuously gone. SERVICE My car had gotten a nail in both the front tire and rear tires. The front, owing to its location near the sidewall and needed replacement. The rear tire was repairable. After two hours of wrangling with Safe-Guard Tire and Wheel insurers to make sure they would be paid and arguing about whether the rear tire needed replacement or not, it was finally time to install the front one. Well, guess what, despite having seen the car a week earlier and having unrestricted access to its VIN, which shows precisely what equipment and options the vehicle has, they'd ordered the wrong tire! Geniuses. What happened to the back tire, you ask? In glad you did. They explained it was unrepairable and tried to get me to buy a replacement, out of coverage at my expense. The next day, I took the car to a bonafide shop, Bob Hinson Racing in KCMO. The correct tire was ordered and installed; the rear tire was fixed for a whopping $11. Poor Baron. You should be downgraded to a Baronet or, better yet, stripped of any title that suggests nobility. The plethora of poor reviews across rating agencies proves you can barely fix or sell your way out of a paper bag. read more

There are only a very few instances since moving here from Southern California where I felt that a business in the Kansas City Metro took advantage of the fact that it was the only 'game in town'. Baron is one of those unfortunate places. Oh sure, the sale of the car is a romantic frenzy. It's all about the sale. You're just NOT going to hear much negative about the sales process. Without that signature on the loan/lease paperwork, there's no where to go financially. I needed a tire replaced that was bulging out the sidewall. I called up the service department, made an appointment and was then told by the Baron schedule personnel to call up the service department and make sure that they had the tire in stock. I was a bit shocked that this wasn't part of her job as the person handling service schedules. After being transferred to another area, I spoke with a service rep and was reassured that the tire was not in stock, but would be there in time for my appointment 4 days later and that I could have the tire replaced while I waited. I arrived at Baron for my service appointment and waited for my representative as he was on the phone detailing a $6,500.00 engine repair to another customer. I sat there for about 10 minutes before another service representative took me over to his desk for help. He then informed me that they did not have the tire there and that the gentleman tasked with getting the tire there was off that day so they had no idea what had happened. Now I was going to have to take a loaner car and come back later. I signed some paperwork for the Loaner and was then informed that I needed to Fuel up the loaner car before bringing it back or I'll get charged (a hefty price) for them to refuel, "But I didn't request a loaner, this was suppose to be serviced while I waited but you didn't order my tire."...Sorry, it's our policy now. I came back in the early evening to find a bill for over $430.00 dollars. They were not going to warranty the tire as defective. "We find that when a tire has a problem like this it's not the tire, it's the driver". We're not going to cover it under warranty. They hadn't called a Continental Tire rep or anyone for that matter. They had determined this all on their own. But, you never even called me, I said, you never mentioned a price, or that this wouldn't be covered under the tire warranty. "Well, SOMEONE should have called you about a price." They admitted that was their error. Someone should have discussed that you'd be charged for this. I requested further clarification. John, the service manager was consulted. I could see him talking to my reprentative in the service bay. I felt that he would understand where I was comng from. He'd be in speaking with me shortly, I thought. Nope. Not a word from John, rather, here comes my service rep back to me. "My manager said that we'll put the bad tire back on your car if you're not going to pay for a new tire. Take the loaner, come back tomorrow and we'll have it back on your car." That's what he came in and told me. I was stunned. Mortified. Here was an $82,000 car with a bad tire and they were going to put it back on. And, he reminded me, have the loaner fueled up upon return. After some debate, I ended up just paying for this tire just out of sheer frustration and so that I could leave with my car. John saw me in the service bay and seemed worried that I hadn't payed for the tire and approached me in my car as I was trying to leave the service bay. I thought it rude that he was now concerned even though he hadn't seemed interested to speak to me in the service dept. I had words with John. How sad this whole event was. Stressful. Unfortunate. This fiasco was just soooo much more of a headache then it should have been. I thought it was ever going to be. So much more than it should have been. I love BMW. This was my experience, plain and simple, and I felt like they flexed their muscles and tried to show me who's boss. I aplogize for such a lengthy review. I love my car. I love BMW. It wasn't their fault anything went wrong and honestly they could have turned me away when I came back but they did the right thing and I'm a fan for life... and love my X1. The first was when I came in to test drive a used BMW and I was told if im I'm not serious then i prolly would not get a test drive for the second time that day. (The word prolly is important/ and how many days is important as well.) now im back in here to get a oil change and wheel alignment with a scheduled appointment. That was checked in at 10:05 this morning on AUG.3 and the time is now 3:40 pm and they haven't even looked at it. Tells me what kind business I bought into with my first purchase of a BMW. Worst car experience of my life. I went back a week later to see if I could get my Lexus back, but they'd already sold it or sent it to auction. I was stuck with a 3-series that had constant problems. Fortunately, it came with a warranty and maintenance plan. In hindsight, that's not saying much. About every other month I had to drive all the way back up to Baron to drop the thing off for something. It was a huge pain in the ass. The mechanics really can't fix anything anymore. Basically the plug the car into a computer and do what the computer says. They don't know how to diagnose or fix anything anymore. The sales staff basically lied by omission. They never bothered to mention all the problems that BMW had with the engine and the recalls that it had. The service people are worthless. They NEVER answer their phones and they always take a few hours to call you back. They have little to no info for you when you do speak with them. They are appointment takers and ass kissers. That's about it. As soon as that 3 series ran out of maintenance plan and warranty, I traded it for another Lexus. It is now somebody else's problem. I'll never make that mistake again. read more

November 26th my son and I was looking for a SUV. We went to Baron BMW what a mistake. Once they found out my son was approved this his bank, things went downhill. They wanted to use one of their lenders. Our sale REP left us hanging and had us do all the work. He was very unprofessional he went to help someone else. We got everything ready to go but he was occupied with someone else so the gentleman who was working the front ask if he could help and we asked, if we could negotiate, he said NO and tried to get us to go through their bank. He asked some insulting questions and when we had good answers, he appeared to get an attitude. We really like the BMW we looked at and agreed if the sale REP, (I think his name was Bob call us on Monday we would consider buying the vehicle almost a week now and no one followed up. Very disappointed! I won't be recommending Baron BMW to anyone. I'm not sure if this company is fair but we felt mistreated. A horrible experience! read more

Very disappointed with Baron BMW and BMW North America. My 2014 X5 was found to have a defective transfer case at 46,000 miles (4,000 miles before warranty ended) but two months past 48 months. No one at Baron or BMW NA could explain why a transfer case on their flagship SUV failed and refused to cover it under warranty. They also could not explain why this was not caught only a few months early during a routine check while the X5 was under warranty. Last BMW for me and last trip to Baron. read more

I took my 2008 528i in for some recall work along with needing my brakes serviced. I agreed to have the brakes and rotors replaced then as well as get a recharge and dye to address an AC problem that is also occurring. Left the car, received a call later in the day that it was ready and went and got it. The also provided me with a free loaner. They did a complete diagnostic check of my car so I had a clear game plan going forward which I also had mentioned earlier as there were a number of other items on my list as well. We have a game plan for those going forward...The car was returned clean as a whistle the brakes are quiet and smooth as silk. Car runs like it is new. I wish..... At any rate very pleased with my experience on the service done to my car as well as the special attention I received through the process. read more

This is the only BMW dealership in the US that knows what customer service is about. I have bought several cars here and it was a great experience each time. The sales personnel are helpful but not pushy. The service department is in a league by itself. The personnel are so helpful and friendly they go out of their way to make sure you receive the proper amount of care and that you know what is going on with your car while it is being repaired. I wish all BMW dealerships in the US would send their employees AND owners here for training. These people KNOW how to sell cars and how to treat people in the service department. read more

Been here a few times for essential service, and they've been solid every time. I also like the fact that they do custom oil changes and work with you on parts, along with generally reliable loaners available. I haven't bought a car from them, so I can't comment on them as a dealership, but can say I've had some very pleasant experiences with salesmen on the floor as I've walked around. Haven't gone through the full process though, so I don't want to mislead anyone. For basic service, these folks are solid in my book. read more

The experience at Baron Automotive is different in every way possible. You are not "swarmed" by sales persons when you walk in. Thats a great begining. The sales staff is empowered to work out the financing details in the privacy of their desk with the customer. I loved it. In regards to your trade in, you're usually better off by selling it on your own if you don't mind working with a buyer. If not, let the dealer buy it and don't sweat the small stuff. Very bad customer service experience here. Purchased a used vehicle here. Upon the test drive we noticed the tire pressure gauge was broken. We were told it would be fixed by them. They made us pay to fix it with the intention that they would reimburse us. This reimbursement was never given. Less than 2 months after our purchase we had to pay $2K for a major repair to the vehicle. After putting very few miles on the vehicle & owning it for less than 2 months. We called to notify them of this costly repair & was offered no assistance in the matter, did not offer to meet us halfway or anything. Was told it is not their problem...Do not recommend this place to anyone! Buyer beware! After posting this review, we finally got some feedback from Brad Pointer. He spoke with my husband on the phone & was apologetic & understanding. He is going to make it right. Thank you Brad for finally pulling through for us. I stumbled into Baron's BMW still in a flux whether to buy a Porsche 718 or a BMW M4, and Michael Madson, new car advisor, was stuck with the daunting challenge of convincing me that BMW was the way to go. Michael was incredibly knowledgeable of the sophisticated car. He also was very attentive without being a pushy salesman. He did convince to go the way of the BMW, unfortunately Baron did not have the colors I wanted, but Michael went beyond his duty and found exactly want I wanted at a competitor. If your trying to buy any parts from here save your money and time, I found all the parts I needed for a fraction of the price, they told me the key plastic piece that I needed for my let that broke is not sold separately, and it was going to cost $150, I found the part I needed on eBay for $9.89 and it worked perfectly and they even sent me 2! They wouldn't lower their vehicle price, but try to play me and give the lowest price for my trade-in that was valued from $27k-$30k for $25.5k. They have shiny offices, but they need to concentrate on what it's important when dealing with potential buyers and go back to school to learn how to negotiate better. Robber Baron This place is the worst. My wife was driving our 2009 528i home one afternoon with our boys when a warning light appeared on the instrument panel stating to go to the nearest BMW service center before a major malfunction occurred. We are new to the area and "luckily" she happened to be passing Baron BMW in Merriam, KS. The techs happily took our vehicle to the back and performed the Baron BMW Courtesy Inspection The result, an Action Plan for over 10K that included replacing the transmission. Needless to say she thanked them for their time and politely asked for our car back and got out of there as fast as she could. The next day I contacted a local independent BMW repair shop and brought our car in to have them take a look. As you might have guessed by now the Baron Action Plan was total B.S. the independent shop made the needed repairs for less then $500. This week I needed a headlight replaced. I called the independent shop and Baron to get estimates and they were comparable, so I decided to give Baron a 2nd chance. (Only because the independent shop does not have a loaner program and we needed access to two cars, and I was curious to see what the "Courtesy Inspection" would turn up this time.) Things did not start off well. I went in and the service consultant was not very courteous. Not sure is he was rushed, didn't care or both. Next, I was given a loaner that someone had clearly been smoking in. They attempted to mask the smell with some type fragrance and the combination of odors gave me the worst headache I've had in some time. It was so bad that I had to go back to Baron and request a new loaner. The "Courtesy Inspection" came later that day and this time the Action Plan was for $5,000 worth of repairs. Funny thing is that the transmission replacement recommendation was gone ($7,500). So within a 3-month period I picked up an additional $2,500 worth of "recommended service". To summarize, Baron recommended $15,000 worth of repairs within a 3-month time period to a 2009 528i with 72k miles on it. Then to top it all off they had my car for three days. I even had to call on day three to see if it was done. The service consultant told me it was and that he had tried to call earlier that morning but the number he had just rang and rang. I double checked the number with him and it was correct. The overall impression I got was that it was to much trouble to try dialing it again so he didn't bother. I returned to Baron, paid for the service they completed and was told that my car would be pulled around shortly. My service consultant disappeared and I was left standing in the shop bay waiting on my car. After about 15 minutes of standing there, my car still hadn't arrived and no one asked me if I needed help. I glanced around the garage and there's my car sitting in the middle bay parked behind several other vehicles. I load my stuff into my car and to make matter worse can not leave until a service tech opens the middle bay door for me. And, the icing on the cake. After $300, three-days and all of this hassle I left in a dirty car, the ice tea machine was empty and there was no lemonade. No complimentary wash or drinks for me. I guess I didn't spend enough cash to complimentary services advertised on their web site. Next time I need service on my car I'll go back to the independent shop down the road and pay for my own rental and ice tea because the complimentary services at Baron come with too many catches. The definition of a Robber Baron is an unscrupulous plutocrat, especially an American capitalist who acquired a fortune in the late nineteenth century by ruthless means. I purchased a dent guard package for my vehicle from Baron BMW in Merriam, KS. The dent guard package would cover paint-less dent repair but if in the instance an insurance claim needed to be made the service would also cover the cost of insurance deductible up to $500. I was told by the finance manager at the time of purchase that any paint-less dent repair claims or insurance claim reimbursement would be taken care of by himself. I had to make an insurance claim back in July 2018 and immediately made a trip to the dealership and informed them of the claim as well as request to have insurance claim reimbursement completed. I was told that this will be taken care of. I contacted the dealer multiple times by phone and email with no response. After weeks of no response, I finally visited the dealership in person and expressed my frustrations about the reimbursement not being completed. I was told again that this matter will be taken care of and that I would be contacted. I then did not hear back from anyone at the dealership for weeks. I then made a second visit to the dealership in person and spoke to the finance manager who helped me with the vehicle transaction. He told me that he will take care of this matter and to email him the required documents (insurance claim, repair invoice). I emailed him the required documents. I did not hear back from him for weeks. I then sent another email asking for an update. I still have not received a response from my last email and it has been two weeks. The customer service was great during the initial transaction but has been seriously lacking afterwards. I was told I would be helped out whenever needed and taken care of but at this time I feel like I have been ignored. I have now been told twice (in person at the dealership) that this matter will be handled and it is still unresolved at least 4 months since the insurance claim was made back in July 2018. If this is how the customer service is after getting a car from Baron then I definitely will not be coming back to them for any future vehicle purchases and would recommend looking elsewhere for your next BMW. read more

I would give zero stars if possible! This place is a absolute nightmare!!! I dealt with Aristocrat for years and they are night and day. Their building is cold and they are not personal at all. Of course they constantly try to update on service. It takes a month to get a oil change. I am switching back to Mercedes simply bc of costumer service! Ok... they say never say never. I went back. Ugh... I know! I know! The cars are too cool. I had been buying Lexus for all these years, but those are such old lady cars now. I had to go back to something sporty and cool again. I didn't want to go to Baron, but have you been to that other BMW dealer? Jesus... what a joke! So I was back on the lot at Baron. I was terribly hesitant. But, they wanted to work a deal and I mean they really wanted to work! These guys once again gave me an easy negotiation and a great price. They even "threw in" a maintenance package because of my last experience. So far, I had one service on the car and it runs flawlessly. Perhaps that model I had on my first review was a lemon. This one is so much fun to drive and it looks great! The services are quick and easy. I usually wait for the car and don't take a loaner. The only thing that does still bug me is that BMW is sticking to this runflat tire nonsense. My car came with Perelli runflats which are soft and are wearing out quickly. It also came with BMW roadside assist. I might put really good normal tires on it and if I get a flat I'll just have them come pick my car up! I don't think I would recommend Baron at this point but I will continue to see how this car does, how their service dept performs and we'll see in a couple of years when I want a new one. read more

I have an older BMW and a newer Mini. The service and parts departments are so bad I kept returning thinking it must be an isolated incident, but it happens every time. Won't answer the phone, won't return messages, can't get updates, wrong parts, bills MUCH higher than estimates. This is regarding Mini in general...not just Baron. My purchase went somewhat smoothly, especially for the salesperson since I basically purchased the car over the phone. I needed a reliable car for a long daily commute. Seven months later, my situation has changed so I looked into trading the Mini. it's in perfect condition, LIKE NEW, with 18k highway miles. I paid $24,000 for the vehicle in late September 2013, and it is mid-April 2014 and they are offering me $16,000. If you want a vehicle that depreciates by eight grand in seven months by all means, purchase a Mini. read more

Brought my 335 in to have a dent(long story)repaired. It was a small ding, but we will be trading it in soon. The folks at Baron quickly processed the car, put me in a 328d that gets INCREDIBLE mileage, and sent me on my way. I thought it would take a couple of days. 7 hours later the car is ready. Bought a pre-owned car that was advertised on ebay. This is a first class group, the car was stellar and they jumped through hoops to help with my transporter's schedule. I would say I paid fair market value to a little bit below based on the condition of the car, the option list and the rarity of the color. They responded to all questions and everyone in the dealership that I came in contact with went the extra mile...how rare is that. Even the sales manager jumped in to help after the sale. The general manager (John Michaels) at Baron contacted me. I thought he was very professional and more importantly sincere. I would not hesitate to do business with them in the future. Baron BMW sent us an email with an internet price for a CPO 2016 X3. Called before going to the dealership to make sure that was the price and was told by the salesman that it was. After getting to the dealership and test driving the vehicle, the salesman told us for the first time that the price in the email was wrong and the vehicle was $2,000 more. When they gave us our trade in value it was almost a $750 less than what they said they would give online as well. Trade in value was $3,000 less than what a dealership down the street was going to give for our car two weeks ago. Will just wait until Hendrick opens up its BMW dealership in Kansas City before we buy a BMW. read more

I just recently purchased a 435i Gran Coupe from Baron BMW. Making big purchases has always let me anxious and uncomfortable. However, they made it painless and smooth. In fact, quite relaxing. They made sure I was able to see/test drive any car I pleased before making my selection. I worked with Nick Klepper and he was amazing. He knew what he was talking about for sure.
