It's called Gwynnbrook Farm because it really is a farm -- they keep cows too! Lovely semi-rural setting. The hatchery itself is really impressive -- it is a technical achievement of water supply and filtration, with a large room full of fish tanks. It's cool just to walk through and see all the varieties of beautiful fish. He has quite a number of mated pairs, often with tiny babies clouded around them. The owner (I forget his name) knows his fish, and will tell you the best way to keep them and feed them. We didn't exactly do as he said, and lost a few fish :-( but the remainder are doing great now. My husband makes the fish food according to Gwynnbrook Farm's food recipe, and all of our fish are thriving on it. You can also order the discus online, if you don't want to make the drive. But it's really great to be able to see the fish in person.

I came here to get nail trims for my dogs because I was not satisfied with the service at another…read moreplace in the local area. I talked to them about my dogs since it was the first time that both my dogs and I had been there, and I wanted to talk about the baths and other services. Amber took care of the nail trims for both of my dogs while another tech assisted. When I saw that my dogs were comfortable being there, I booked appointments for them for baths. I was initially planning to get a standard bath for both of them, but after reading the information, I decided to opt for an oatmeal bath for my little girl since she is itchier than my little boy. The staff recommended that I get an essential package for my boy, although I was unsure if it was truly necessary to justify the price increase for something that had never been needed before. I was told it would take one to one and a half hours for the baths, and that's about what it took. The nail trims were easy and reasonable. The baths were a little more expensive than I had anticipated and much more so than the place where they used to get their baths in another state. So I'll have to think about whether I want to upgrade beyond a standard bath in the future. I highly recommend their services because they are excellent and took great care of my dogs.

I received a phone call from an employee in the grooming department by the name of India M. My dog was in her schedule. She proceeded to tell me she could not do her bath and brush because three other people have called out. I couldn't figure out why she was canceling my dog for department call outs. I'm still wondering while writing this review... I told her "That is not going to work for me". She then started to tell me about the current COVID19 policy . I was told this already originally when I made the appointment. I also explained how my dog was not a fan of bath time and she could be muzzled for nail clipping.(also told to staff members when I made the appointment). She said I'm reading in her file that she's aggressive, doesn't like bath time, may growl etc. So I started to think she is definitely prejudging my dog before meeting her. She then said she has to come to me willingly. If not I will have to send her home. I was throughly heated now. I did end up calling back to cancel after some thought. I didn't think my dog would be treated fairly after that. I will be making a formal complaint with customer service. I will also be taking my dog to another grooming salon/ pet store.

My dog is 3 pounds... her reason was because she kept biting at her and the clippers. I have a Rottweiler that they have called me on before and for that I can understand- she is 90 pounds but you are telling me you don't have enough training to get the job done for a 3 pound dog?!?!? I was trying to save money by not taking her to a personal groomer BUT her price was originally $51 and when I picked her up it was yet $49. You didn't do your job but yet I still have to pay. She looks the same as she did when I dropped her off! Pissed is an understatement! I will NOT be back!

Yesterday, 5/4/26, my sister took our dog to PetSmart in Owings Mills. Zumba has been to this…read morelocation several times and no problem. In fact, we have used been using PetSmart, different locations, for probably over 20 years without incident. UNTIL YESTERDAY!!! Well, maybe I should say his previous visit as well. So, on the previous visit, around Dec. Zumba's underside was washed but apparently was not conditioned. Zumba is a Shih Tzu, so he is very short. After his last groom, he walked across the grass which was damp and immediately started to matt. I thought they probably did not condition his underside - no big deal. Anyway, he went to PetSmart yesterday for grooming. He had some matting issues under his coat and also on his underside, where he had immediately started matting from the previous visit. The groomer called and said it would cost extra - no problem. 4 hours later the dog still was not groomed!!! He had been washed and partially cut. The dog had apparently been sitting and waiting while they groomed other dogs even though Zumba had an appointment and also paid for additional time. When my sister picked the dog up, the dog looked like he was 96 y.o. and had been drunk for days. The hair on his head is chopped up, his face is chopped up, his beard is uneven, his feet look like he has boots on, hair is hanging down from his genitalia - lots of it. They told my sister they will finish him in the morning (today), now today they are saying Thursday. How they could even let a dog leave their establishment looking the way this dog looks is beyond me. They offered no refund, no discount, charged extra, said they would finish the job today, and now rescheduled to Thursday. This is the worse customer service and grooming service I have ever experienced. I do not recommend this particular PetSmart Grooming service at all. If I could give them a lower score I would. My dog looks so bad, that if I saw him on the street, I would not he was my dog.

From a new volunteer:…read more I'll start with the sad news of having recently lost my Toby (my dog) to bone cancer. While on a bike ride, we rode past the Baltimore Humane Society that I had not known existed. I got home, Googled BHS, and found that they also had volunteer opportunities. *insert smile here* You can complete an application online to volunteer, and they will quickly get back to you with instructions on what to do next. Fast forward, and I'm at BHS for my first training (DogTown1). You'll have to attend various trainings for whichever tasks you would like to volunteer for. Let me also state that their property is VAST. They even have a pool for the dogs to swim in. *insert smile here* After the training, we were given a tour of the facility. Those pets are LOVED! The volunteers really take care of them, from walking to cleaning and just learning the characteristics of each pet; it's an amazing thing to see. We were also notified of five of the dogs who were going home that day. I look forward to the rest of my volunteer experience.

They do tend to be booked so make sure you call ahead of time. They also offer vaccines when I got my dog neutered ($43 for a canine influenza vaccine). I had to ask questions of the doctor, which he answered. But he answered each question without looking at the animal?! When one of the issues that he made seem so simple and unimportant got worse (2-days later), it was VERY hard to speak with the doctor. When I finally got a call back, I was asked to bring my pet in for another exam...DUDE, we were just there!! Why didn't you take the time to check it out then? I will own a small portion as I should have pushed the issue. But when you (as the resident expert) acts like it's no big deal, I believe you and found comfort in your prognosis. I don't have time to come back for you to address an issue that you opted to brush off. I was advised that a medication for another issue for my pet was available. I tried to call to see how much it would be. I was put on hold for 10-minute. I called back and was put on hold without the person so much as saying hello (4-minute). I hung up and called back and was put on hold again (5-minute)...ok you MUST be super busy. I'll just swing by. I go to the office to pick up medication. I see a "tech" take a dog outside. The dog poops. The tech and the dog came back inside and left the poop outside?!?!? How in the world do you work for a vet and leave poop outside?!?? No thanks, My pet and I deserve better!! Lesson learned, Yelp-nation warned me and I should have listened!
