I've frequently patronized this store for years. I called two weeks ago for grooming for my dog . The next available grooming appt was for today-6/7. I received a phone call from an employee in the grooming department by the name of India M. My dog was in her schedule. She proceeded to tell me she could not do her bath and brush because three other people have called out. I couldn't figure out why she was canceling my dog for department call outs. I'm still wondering while writing this review... I told her "That is not going to work for me". She then started to tell me about the current COVID19 policy . I was told this already originally when I made the appointment. I also explained how my dog was not a fan of bath time and she could be muzzled for nail clipping.(also told to staff members when I made the appointment). She said I'm reading in her file that she's aggressive, doesn't like bath time, may growl etc. So I started to think she is definitely prejudging my dog before meeting her. She then said she has to come to me willingly. If not I will have to send her home. I was throughly heated now. I did end up calling back to cancel after some thought. I didn't think my dog would be treated fairly after that. I will be making a formal complaint with customer service. I will also be taking my dog to another grooming salon/ pet store. read more

Today my 4 month old Shihpoo had an appointment for a bath and cut. After being there for what seemed to me as 10 mins, I received a phone called from Ebony stating that she could not give service because she wouldn't allow her. My dog is 3 pounds... her reason was because she kept biting at her and the clippers. I have a Rottweiler that they have called me on before and for that I can understand- she is 90 pounds but you are telling me you don't have enough training to get the job done for a 3 pound dog?!?!? I was trying to save money by not taking her to a personal groomer BUT her price was originally $51 and when I picked her up it was yet $49. You didn't do your job but yet I still have to pay. She looks the same as she did when I dropped her off! Pissed is an understatement! I will NOT be back! read more

Absolutely the worst!!! We scheduled an appointment to have our Goldendoodle groomed at 1:30 pm. We gave specific instructions how we wanted our puppy groomed (e.g., keep all the length on the back and sides, 5/8th an inch on on the stomach, and an inch on the legs and tail, round out the face with keeping the eyes clear). After waiting for an hour and a half, they told us they wouldn't even start the haircut for another hour and a half. We then went home and returned an hour and fifteen minutes later so we could watch. When we arrived they already started the grooming process and, instead of keeping all the length on the back and sides, already cut off half the hair on the back and sides to 5/8th and inch. At that point, having no choice, they had to do the rest the same 5/8th. Horrible. Does not look like our dog (and who would cut off all a dogs hair anyway mid-December!). They told us we didn't have to pay; but, who cares! We paid for a specific service and were given less than poor service. DON'T GET YOUR DOG GROOMED BY THESE PEOPLE!!! !!! read more

I took my cockapoo for a bath and a haircut. I used the service at the Columbia location and they did a really good job so I thought it would be the same at this location. I received a call that they could not complete the haircut because he tried to bite the groomer. My dog has never tried to bite anyone. When I picked my dog up his two back legs were skinned and he was afraid of the groomer. No wonder he tried to bite him I'm sure he hurt him cutting that close. I will never go back read more

Great store with friendly helpful staff! The groomers all were gentle with the pups being groomed, and the pups seemed happy. The manager and assistant manager were very visible helping customers. Nice to see. read more

I was very devastated with the services provided by Petsmart in Owings Mills. As a favor to my mom my sister & I took our Yorkie puppy in for grooming. Our puppy Zenlilly, a purebred Yorkie and had long hair. We communicated to Claudette and Jamie to keep her hair long except for her hair under her belly since there may be some matting. They ensured us this was normal and doable. When I returned to pick up our puppy she was shaved down completely with no hair. There was no warning, they didn't even call to let us know there was any issue grooming her they just shaved her completely bald. Not to mention they put rubber bands around her ears with paper as bows. When we asked to speak to a manager a guy came out from the back who was very nonchalant to say the least. We told him our concerns and he asked "what do you want me to do about it? ". My sister and I demanded a full refund since the ruined our puppy's hair. You would think people who work at Petsmart would be more compassionate towards animals, but that is not the case at this Petsmart. Bottom line beware of this location and trusting them with your puppy's grooming needs. read more

I have been a Pet Smart customer for over 5 years. Not only do I purchase items from the store but I also have my dog groomed there on a regular basis. On November 20th, I took my dog to the vet to get her annual checkup, blood work and shots. The veterinarian said that she was a healthy dog. On November 26th I took her to Pet Smart for her grooming and they refused her because they said that she urinated on the floor and there were traces of blood in her urine. BTW, I have NEVER even since then seen blood in my dogs urine. The groomer called me and said that SHE believes that my dog has a urinary tract infection and that I need to come to pick her up from the store. I explained that my dog was just at the vet and everything was fine and that I walked her that morning and saw no traces of blood. I was extremely puzzled that a groomer could diagnose my dog with a urinary tract infection. A few days later, I took a urine sample to the vet and they tested the sample. Not only was there NO BLOOD in the sample but they said she is perfectly healthy. This EXTRA doctor's visit cost me $45.00. I called the store immediately and spoke to a manager named Cordy. Cordy told me that she understands that this may have been an inconvenience for me and since I had a pending grooming appointment she was sure that the store could help with a coupon or discount. She told me that Amber, the store manager would be contacting me the next day. I spoke to Amber today. Amber was terribly impolite. She said that she saw the notes from my discussion with Cordy and "What is it that I want". I told her the issue and that Cordy told me she would give me a discount for my inconvenience and she told me "Well I stand behind my groomer and I am not going to give you anything". I also told her because of this I had to leave work to pick my dog up early and she told me, "Well the logistics of your day are your business". I cancelled my appointment because at this point I don't feel comfortable getting my dog groomed at the Owings Mills facility. I told her that I needed to contact someone that may be able to help me and she stated, "It doesn't matter, if you contact the corporate office it just comes back to me and I am still not going to give you anything". More than anything, I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in a management position at a store. I understand what they were trying to do, but the manner in which they went about it was extremely unfair and the customer service was horrendous. I am very shocked and disappointed and I can't understand why this issue is worth losing a loyal customer that has spent thousands of dollars at various PetSmart stores. read more

Came in on Saturday to get my dogs nails trimmed. They started by yanking my dog with this flimsy "leash". Then lifted his behind first in order to get him up on the board then his head. As I was watching from the glass after they started to trim his nails. They cut one of his nails short enough and made him bleed. No one in my house was able to touch his paw where the short nail was for a couple of days. I would never come back to this place for any grooming needs my dog needs. Dog grooming appointment says 12:30-2. Why not say 12:30! Don't put a window because you never know when you will be done and it confuses people as to when they should arrive. THen, the dog comes back fur still loose on his coat! Why would I pay 50 when you can't even furminate correctly. What a sham! read more

If I could give a lower score I would. I took my dog in to be groomed, chose a particular length for the body cut and facial cut; my yorkie went from the look of a standard yorkie to a chihuahua;if I didn't know my dog I wouldn't have physically been able to pick him out of a line of butchered yorkies. Not only did Chenell not do a good job but my yorkie suffered major nick marks, the cut was uneven, and as stated before butchered. Always trust your first instinct which tells you if a groomer has too many available slots they are more than likely new or inexperienced and should be surprised. I will never attend this location for any of my pet needs nor will I subject my dog to this place;the trust is now broken. read more

I think this is a pretty neat store with good employees that are eager to help. Compared to the nearby Petco this store seems a little bigger with a better selection. While many items you can find on their website, some items that they sell will not be listed online on their site. I bought a new fish tank with many accessories there and they are helping me out with all my questions. As helpful as they are, it helps to also do your own research. While their advice may be good you may find a better option on the Internet, so read those reviews and forums. Prices are OK. Most items cost a little more than what you will find them going for on Amazon or other online retailers. They price match local stores, but not Amazon, as I found out the hard way. Their return policy is fairly standard. I was able to return new and used items with receipt no questions asked. The fish tank had a few scratches that I didn't notice in the store, but I was able to polish those away (I used toothpaste, if you don't have polish it works fine). The fish tank stand was much more damaged. It had scratches and chips in multiple places, especially on the bottom. I decided to keep it since most of the damage you would never see on the bottom or top (tank covers up the top). The visible parts were fairly easy to cover up with some black paint and nail polish. The next day I told the store about this and they gave me a 10% discount on the purchase. They said that if I brought in the damaged stand they would have replaced it for another one. I think that's fair, since I decided to keep it and never brought it back to them, although I think if they saw the damage in the store before I bought it they would have discounted that stand much more than 10%. Today I'll be going back there to get some fish for the new aquarium. Kids are happy. read more

Staff here appears as though they are don't want to groom dogs/do their jobs. The girl that checked my dog in did not seem welcoming. My dog is a very anxious big dog. Her vet gave her anxiety medication to help calm her whenever shes out at any stressful places such as the groomers. I was turned away today and was told my dog can't be on any medications when dropped off. My dog was not sedated, still walking still alert. Also, the staff told me that the dog, due to the new covid policy has to "willingly" come to the groomers. The groomers is already a stressful place for dogs, what dog would leave their owners side to willingly come to a stranger?? I called customer service and asked about the "covid policy" and they told me anxiety medication is fine as long as the dog is not sedated.. also when I asked them about the "willingly come to the groomers" policy and the representative told me it should be fine as long as the dog does not show any aggression towards the groomer or other dogs.. I've brought my dog to a different pet smart multiple times and I have never came across any of these problems. I just felt very unwelcomed and a waste my time. I can understand why this location as such low ratings, reviews, and is the only location with open appointments during the week. read more

Let me start by saying that I have been getting my dog's nails ground every month or so, for years, often at Petsmart, with out a problem. I just attempted to have my dog's nails ground at the Owings Mills Petsmart and I could not be more disappointed. The obviously inexperienced "groomer" took less than 5 minutes to complete filing his nails and it shows. My dog's paws look and feel exactly as they did when we arrived at Petsmart. I told the manager, who looked at my dog's nails, AGREED they were not properly done, asked me which tech had done them, and then.... did nothing!!!!! I told her I would never be back, and she just sort of smiled and nodded. Complete waste of time! read more

Just got back from my local PetSmart (where I have been a customer for MANY years but no more. There was a crazy cashier there who claims to be the manager. First she got all flustered that she had a customer while she was chit chatting with her foot up. She did wait on me, bought a small dog toy, and it went down from there. She ran the transaction as credit while I had $ in my hand, got flustered again, changed the transaction and when I took the toy out of the bag (too many bags at home don't need it) she got almost nuts. PetSmart is much too good of a store to employ people who bluntly just don't belong in retail. I'll never go back read more

Made an Appointment w/ Rachael F. Told them on the phone she was matted,(( as usual !!), I usually have to sign a paper stating that. Drove out all the way to take my dog, for the APPOINTMENT. They refused her. They did her 'before...but refused her today. I asked if she could trim her ears with a scissors, she said no ( I was concerned because she comes home bleeding all the time and my vet said to ask if they can trim her ears with a shears- she said no) She refused the dog. Very nice store, got my dog groomed here they were extremely nice the women did a great job. Only down fall is the lack of help they have here, it's always under staffed, and the blonde manager isn't the friendliest person she doesn't seem very passionate. She's very sarcastic. read more

I took my Shih Tzu to the grooming center. The groomer managed too cut two pads on two different feet! She also hurt the front right paw as my dog won't let me handle it! They took her to a Vet down the road, but two days later her pads are still bleeding. Apparently they routinely use this Vet, so I assume they routinely hurt our pets! Ver disappointed! read more

This is a great Petsmart. The previously mentioned manager is always around and is very friendly and helpful. She even researched some kitty litter on line for me when we couldn't find the words 'flushable' on any bags. There is always someone asking if you need help and in general are all friendly. The cat adoption area is always clean with healthy looking cats. I took a training course with my dog that I highly recommend. I have also used coupons here and if they don't ring up properly the manager quickly comes over to do an adjustment with a smile. They help me carry heavy items to my car. What else can you ask for? read more
