The artifacts and museum content is wonderfully curated by the Kumeyaay community and conveys the rich history of the area and resilience of the community. The "petting zoo," however, is a bit misleading. You can only pet the goats -- which are beautiful -- but many of the other animals were either not visible or behind fencing that made it hard to interact or feed them. You pay for admission and then pay again for different animal foods, which felt pricey given the limited access. The person at the front seemed confused and wasn't able to answer basic questions about the egg products, which made the experience feel a little unorganized. No one was unfriendly, but no one was particularly helpful either. I expected a warmer, more guided experience. Also, keep in mind the only bathroom available was a porta‑potty, so plan accordingly. That said, it's still a fun quick stop if you're already in Ramona and want to grab fresh eggs or see a few animals like a bunny, two goats, chickens, a horse, and some sheep. Just go in with the right expectations.
