However, when a bunch of my elders, whom I greatly respect, give up their Saturday gaming and agree to get their requisite whites dirty to show a bunch of hoodlums how to play, they have my attention and best effort. Forget that we may or may not have been drinking and we may have made an unsavory joke or two in what we were informed, quite promptly, is a family establishment (can establishments be a well groomed grassy playing court in a park?). Those little snafus aside I was going to give this lopsided ball rolling my best go. Did you know that not only are the balls lopsided but they are weighted heavier to one side so that there will always be a curve out or in when you roll them? I didn't either but thanks to my stellar lesson I do now!! So, I roll the balls for the first time and, wow, its fun! In all of my alcohol induced glee I decided it was a great idea to take on the ultimate challenge and play the US Lawn Bowling Champion. And. I. Beat. Him. What??? Yep, the crowd went wild. I won a very nice polo shirt. Bells were rung, I, one by one, shook the hand of each of the lawn bowling club members present that day, who also happen to have a great sense of humor about these things. I was invited to watch this very same player compete in the World Championship happening in San Francisco this September. Lawn Bowling. Who knew?? I am going to buy some white pants and do this again. Yes. I am purchasing white pants. If that doesn't say love I don't know what does.

I saw a daily deal for a party for 10 at the lawn bowling club and jumped on it. When we arrived on the day of the party, we were met by a handful of ... well, lawn bowling people. They were all super helpful. They helped us all pick out our "bowls" (a set of 4 lawn bowling balls that fit your hand) then we went to the field to play. They explained the rules (there are a LOT -- way more than I expected!) and then they helped us while we played. The bowls are oblong and have a weight on one side, which means you have to really think about where you are aiming. The helpers were all patient and nice, but if I had any small recommendations, it would be that they hang back after a while and just let us play without critiquing and commenting on every shot. But they were just trying to be helpful. Everyone in my group had a great time and some even signed up for a membership. There was a big discount for the membership that day ($68), but normally it is $165/yr. With a membership, you can pretty much go to play whenever you want. If you are curious about lawn bowling, you should give it a try. Call them up and see if they have any special deals or rates for a first timer who wants to try it out. It's a great way to spend a day in the lovely San Diego sun. (And the all-white clothing is only required in Sundays!)

We got it and it takes three pictures of you and we decided on an Avengers one. The picture turned out great, but when we printed it out, there was this big white vertical line down the right side. We brought it up to the lady behind the counter and she said she would get the IT guy. We waited about 5 minutes for someone to finally come around and he goes "It always does that" We expected a refund or something, but nothing. For $5 a picture, what a rip off. If it doesn't work "All the time" how about fixing it and putting an "Out of order" sign on it, so you don't waste $5 on a picture you can't use? Terrible customer service.

I used the card on one of the games but the game was not responding. I tried again and still no response. I decide to go to the counter to see if someone could either take a look at the game or if i could get the credits back. I get to the counter and see 3 or 4 workers just standing there talking, no one acknowledges me. I look around some more and see one worker on the far left helping some customers and another worker on the far right helping some other people. Ok, I'm assuming there's two lines and the 3 or 4 other employees are just taking a break or something. Not a big deal, so i get in the line to the far right. There is one person currently being helped, two teens and then me. The employee finishes with the first customer and then helps the two teens. He finishes with them and when he gets to me he just turns and walks away. He does not say a word, just turns and walks away. A simple "I'll be back in a minute" or even just putting your hand up and saying "gimme a sec" would be totally fine. Instead, no communication, just walks away. I told the group of 3 or 4 people just standing there that I needed assistance and one of them went to refill my card. As i was waiting the guy who was serving the line on the far left came over and asked if I needed help. He was really friendly (he looked Asian or Mexican). Anyways, he's the only reason I'm giving that place two stars instead of one.

We waited for maybe half an hour, but you can skip the line for an extra $10. The set and props are so detailed and the actors are amazing. You walk through on a designated path and there are different themed parts. They definitely make you jump and scream! It took us almost an hour to walk through the whole thing. Highly recommend for Halloween fun!

And I am so glad we did! Can't believe we have been missing out all these years (I believe this is their 15th year) We had VIP entry for 7pm and at 1st I thought I could have saved some money and gone general entry but ended up the extra cost was well worth the money. The general entry line wasn't super long at 1st but for sure it started getting packed. We were 1st in line and eager to check everything out and get some good scares. The trial is a bit uneven but is well lit and actually not too bad to walk. The scareators were amazing, the props as well and the staff superb! The scares are enhanced knowing you are literally walking through the buildings and area of the old amusement park. We were in the first group to enter and what I liked not is we were spaced out. Even though there were roughly 8 of us we all got a chance to get scared. There was no overcrowding or trying to fit too many people through at once. It was perfect. Parking is free and easy in and out (dirt lot but we'll maintained). Depending on the time and date you go might help factor in which ticket option you want. There are three options, general line, fast pass, and VIP. Each allow you to stand in or bypass the line. Later in the season I would for sure go with fast pass at least. Yeah we did have to wait a little after opening to actually get in, but it wasn't that bad, and it was opening night after all. One thing I would suggest is having some Halloween music to listen to while in the queue. All of the actors were so cool and did a great job. It was a nice long experience and I liked not being rushed through (at Seaworld and some other big ones they had security guards everywhere which kinda ruined the atmosphere). I'm so grateful that there were sections of the trail where I was just completely alone. The roominess of this haunt really helps sell it, along with the location in the mountains. It's a beautiful place to be even when you're scared.

First time out to Barona to check out their races. I have…read moresome friends that participate with their bikes out here, but- hubby's friend stages here, since he has worked on some of the car motors. Seems like, if you're a spectator- you'll enter thru the right side gate and drive along a compact dirt road to find parking. Once parked- you'll trek on dirt to the first set of bleachers (on the right side of the drag strip) But, once you cross over the paved staging lanes - you'll trek can access additional bleachers- the newly remodeled bathroom building and the snack shack. We arrived later in the morning- think by 10am. Feel free to walk around and check the cars (motorcycles- depending on the event you're attending) lined up for their races. Or walk by the trailers, to Looky Lou. The snack shack offers simple items. Hot dogs- which were huge! Nachos, fries, hamburgers, root beer floats, drinks. They do accept card at the snack shack. There's no shade provided- so, be mindful of that. Luckily out visit was very gloomy- which worked for me. Still brought some sunglasses. The speaker system works amazing. What I nearly choked on was the entrance fee. There's no price signage as you approach the entrance. It's $20 per person! (Adult?) I wonder if there's a price difference for kids? Guess, I assumed it's per vehicle?

Our party of 11 booked a Game Show to celebrate our friend's birthday. I've always passed by the…read moreRed Door Escape Room at the Fashion Valley mall and it looked unassuming from outside, so I never realized how big it was and how many events they host! For parking, I suggest parking by the JC Penny. After checking in on the first floor, the group takes an elevator down the basement where all the game rooms are located. After winding down a long hallway, we reached the Game Show Studio. There are cubbies available to place your belongings but we were able to bring our bags with us inside. We had a party of 11 and we divided into two groups. A group of 14 (to maybe 16) can fit in this room where each person has a buzzer. The experience lasted maybe 45 minutes and it was filled with interactive games. I had a great time because it was only our friend group inside. I'm not sure how it would be if there were other groups in there with you. Shoutout to our wonderful hosts Lyv and Shawn for making my first experience at a Game Show Studio memorable! Overall, this is a fun, wholesome activity to book with your friends and try once. I'm not sure if I'd do this exact game show again but I'm curious to try other events that Red Door offers!

Had a fun time at the Game Show Studio in San Diego! It's near the JC Penny and they also have…read moreescape rooms. It was a bit chaotic when we checked in. Host Alyvia (sp?) & Alyssa were great. Price is a bit steep at like $43/pp if I am not mistaken, maybe more? The game itself is very fast paced, the whole experience is under an hour or just around an hour. Could see this being fun for a corporate event or a family gathering - appropriate fun, for sure.

This place is a real working and educational farm. You must come to visit. There are not many places that I know of that offer this type of shared insight and opportunities to take part. A couple of months back I was in Ecuador visiting a farm to learn about Permaculture, various composting, and different methods of growing techniques. The name of that particular farm is Rio Muchaho Organic Farm and Eco-Lodge. Wild Willows will teach you much in the same way but there is no where to actually stay. It's a place to visit, study, and work for the day. I am currently taking an Herbal Medicine class that is 2 days long Saturday and Sunday from 10-5pm. First day we discussed herbs in the field, there was engaging lecture, hands on experiencing learning how to make fermented foods, made natural beauty products like cream and salves. Lunch was included and was sooooo delicious and fresh. The class was full and this tells you that many people have an interest in these topics. The other class mates were kind and super interesting. At the end of Day we got to take home jars of yumminess and tins of body cream and salves. How wonderful is that! It can get very hot. Check the weather. Bring a big sun hat, a light wrap to cover your shoulders from the sun. A water container that can keep your water cool. You will learn lots and make new friends who share the same curiosity about nature. Go check out their next events. Last thing... there were several people in class that drove from afar to come to this class. They made a weekend trip just to attend. For people who live in San Diego or across the border... this resource is right in our city... do take advantage of this unique resource as you don't have to spend as much on gas or hotel to get access to this experience. Come with open mind and heart and enjoy!
