Firstly: Baron's CreekSide is beautiful! The staff is courteous and polite. The creek is beautiful, as are the surrounding cabins and grounds. The restaurant was filled almost to capacity, but we were one of the first to arrive ... it took well over an hour to get our food, I think they forgot about us, and it was cold. Starved after working all day, we ate it anyway; not a great menu, though. The music, live, we enjoyed! As for our Conestoga Wagon experience in mid November ... NOTE: My wife had made plans and pre-paid for a cabin for two days but COVID interfered. Then, when COVID dissipated, they re-instituted the 3 day rule, but we cannot do 3 days with my work, as I instruct Air Force Pilots and the push is hard post-Covid! So the owner said we could have the wagon for two days ... in mid-November. I'm 65, my wife 63, but hey, we're adventurous and quite capable; but ... it was COLD!!! (I had no idea until a few days prior that my wife accepted the wagon, by the way.) 1. I do not recommend this wagon experience if the temperature is below 50 degrees! Yes, they have an electric blanket on the bed but one side gave no heat and the other was spotty; this was on its highest setting. Plus, if you have to get up in the night, at 34 degrees, we saw our breath in the wagon and it was COLD!!! Too cold for safety. A GE Heat Pump is provided but, as anyone with experience of heat pumps knows, when the temperature gets that cold, there is little heat to draw from the air. There was no 'emergency' function to get more heat. The wagon is not at all insulated and so I would imagine that when it's also very hot, it could be very intolerable. The shelf in the cabin is full of bug spray and insect repellent people left for others following them. I killed two spiders, despite the severe cold so ... if you don't like camping in a tent or spiders, don't stay in this wagon! :-) The not-attached 'gypsy wagon' bathroom has ample heat available through a window-style unit but the water flow is extremely weak. 2. The restaurant was obviously inundated almost to capacity and, as I said, though we were among the very first to arrive (there were only 3-4 couples still seated) our food took about an hour to receive, and it was cold. Seeing the very busy staff, we hardly saw our waitress, so we just ate it. We did tell the owner when he asked how our stay was; his response was less than acceptable to this customer-service oriented patron of his. His response did not include any apology or explanation(s), but rather he said, "Well, why didn't you tell us; we would have made it right." They were so busy we knew they'd pop it in the microwave ... food that clearly had been left on a counter ... no thank you. That being said, we gave a nearly 20% tip for the waitress because, clearly, they had been quickly overcome with a large crowd! This experience of ours, I believe, would be the exception, not the rule. 3. Would I go back? Sure! I LOVE the grounds, think that the massive influx to the restaurant was not normal and they got swamped, the owner seems very friendly, and they even sent to people to come to the wagon and help us figure out how the electric blankets, heat pump, etc. worked. In closing: MET SOME GREAT NEIGHBORING CABIN FOLKS WHO VISITED OUR WAGON SITE, HUNG AROUND, TALKED, LAUGHED, ETC. THE GROUNDS ARE SIMPLY AMAZING! There are deer at night / in early AM, ducks in the creek, and friendly, gregarious people all around. The concept of this place is so unique ... I'd recommend the experience ... just not the wagon in temps below 50; and I think management should definitively not permit children at all when the temps are that low; they lose body heat way too quickly! I have, as a Naval Aviator (now a retired American Airlines Pilot and now instructing USAF Pilots), been to every survival school (and SERE) that the Navy and Marines have to offer and such extremely low temps were, indeed, still a challenge. We already have several other friends who wish to meet up with us there in the future. We will be careful to assure we get a cabin. I think the three day rule is unrealistic. Friday Night and Saturday Night pre-paid ought to be able to get you a cabin!!! How to say this ... the entire having to be under the blankets to be warm was really romantic! :-) read more

We had a small family reunion and stayed in The Big Lodge. It was ideal for us! Plenty of room to lounge in the large living room and have a cozy fire and a glass of wine. When the weather warmed up, grilling outside was a must, with enough room for all of us to dine outdoors. The Lodge itself was clean, had a fully equipped kitchen and amenities. The 20-acre grounds invite you to take a leisurely walk and enjoy the creek and wildlife. The cabins are strategically placed to provide privacy for your stay. And finally, we can't say enough about the owners, Deborah and Daniel. They worked with us to find just the right accommodations for our group and made a point of greeting us personally, always with a friendly smile. Thank you Deborah and Daniel. We had the most amazing visit to Barons CreekSide! Their extremely personalized service is unmatched with attention to every detail to make your visit so enjoyable and comfortable! The cabins are very clean, comfortable, well appointed and unique. Fishing and a vineyard onsite, precious and friendly ducks and cats, and deer! A duck even layed eggs right outside our cabin. This is more than an overnight stay-- it's a memorable occasion!! We got the last cabin available-- they are very busy despite Covid-19 and are taking every precaution to keep you safe- contactless check in and check out, disinfectants in the cabin and social distancing at the gathering for live music, food and beverages. read more

My husband and I stayed at the ZUG cabin at Baron's Creekside in Fredericksburg! We had previously stayed at the Victorian House. We loved every minute of both visits! Our recent vacation was fantastic! It was just the quiet, relaxing getaway that we both needed. The cabins are very unique and well equipped for a comfortable stay. The grounds are gorgeous with the creeks and beautiful foliage. We even had our own pet ducks and kitty cats! They were very entertaining. We grilled at the cabin and also went to the club for a delicious dinner and entertaining music. We plan to go back in November with our grandsons and stay at the covered wagon, Baron's Creekside is a hidden gem! read more

Absolutely had the most amazing 2 days at Barons Creekside. The cabin we stayed in had all the charm, quite cozy, and very romantic. There can't be a more perfect place to stay in Fredericksburg. We met the owner, Daniel while we were sitting out by the creek enjoying the water. He gave us great dinner recommendations! From the furniture, to the linens, and towels everything has been well thought out. The location feels remote, but is only a few minutes from Main Street and the wineries! What a great place to spend four days. There were five of us and stayed in the Farmhouse. There are two bedrooms and the couch makes a bed. Plenty of room for everyone. Of course living in Texas you never know how the weather will be but for some reason it decided to turn blistering cold for three days but one of the best things available was the fire pit, wood included. That's how I survived! We will be going back as soon as possible for the nature, animals, food, at The Club, "delicious" as well as the people who work there. Wonderful wooded setting with all the necessary "creature comforts" for making our wine tasting get-a-way perfect! Our cute Swiss cabin "Mortgarten" offered us a super peaceful creek side experience with routine visits of very friendly local ducklings seeking morning & evening treats. Hospitality & service proved to be top notch and we loved being close to town with notable wine tasting rooms close by. Reading about how the owners developed their property from actual Swiss cabin materials & skilled Swiss craftsman over the years made our visit even more memorable. This was by far our best B & B experience in the Fredericksburg area! read more

We stayed here last year for my birthday, and absolutely fell in love with the property. It's very charming and quaint. There are manny little cabins on the property with a creek and little ducks that will come up to eat from your hands! We met the owners that live on the property they were from Germany maybe i think? Even though we didn't use it they had a laundry facility for those traveling. Which seems very convenient. Our Cabin was isolated and not as close as the others for great privacy. We enjoyed using the fireplace and drank coffee on the from porch swing it was very relaxing trip. Will for sure return again some day! read more

This was our third time to stay at Baron's Creekside, and our second time to stay in the Mesquite Farmhouse. We love sitting outside in the early morning with a cup of coffee watching the birds, deer, armadillos, and whatever else may be out and about. Baron's Creekside is such a relaxing oasis, and it was great to see the continued additions that Daniel and Deborah have made to the property. We first stayed there with our two young sons during 2008, not long after Daniel started to improve the property. We loved it then, and we still love it now. It is the perfect place to relax and decompress. We will be back. read more

When I was looking for a place to celebrate our 29th anniversary, the Wagon caught my eye. At first I booked the Wagon and but changed it to a cabin. I was so glad I did! The cabin was very cozy and had all the amenities you needed. We loved the seclusion and quietness of the location. We made friends with the ducks and they became our friends who'd visit for breakfast, lunch and dinner while we were there. We also made friends with two cats who came to enjoy the evenings with us. It was such an amazing time relaxing by the creek with a glass of wine. I will definitely book this get away again. read more

Wonderful place, Had a girls week, with my 2 sister's and my best friend, waking up in the morning with the sound of the waterfall, drinking coffee on the porch, then a 2 min. drive to town to shop. This is my second time to visit this beautiful place, and can't wait to book my 3rd trip to Barons Creekside. It is 5 stars all the way. Celebrated our 30th Anniversary here in The Big Lodge with all the "kids" and their babies. It was, to put it simply, amazing. The creek is so picturesque and minnows and ducks frolicking. Out back there is a gas/ceramic log fire pit with plenty of seating for roasting marshmallows, s'mores, etc. The back patio is huge and well kept. The Club was a blast. The overlook had us feeling as though we were overlooking Napa Valley. What a Fredericksburg treasure that is everything they claim to be. AND the customer service was excellent. We had the unbelievable honor of meeting Mr. Meyer while he was out on his bike, just by chance. The time spent enjoying Barons Creek Side was a 10! We loved staying at the Mrsquite Farmhouse and knowing Mr. Meyer had also lived in it just made it that much more special. From the moment we entered it was walking back in time when life was sweeter, simpler and restful. Every room has a special look and feel. The beds were so comfortable, we slept so good! Such a great find! We stayed in the Interlaken cabin and is was authentic, comfortable and well appointed. The owner and staff take much pride in their property and customer service and will not disappoint. Our experience couldn't have been better. The staff was personable and attentive and the food at The Club was delicious. They provided heaters on their patio, along with cozy blankets so you can comfortably enjoy the live music, which was top notch the night we joined. My husband and I stayed in the Mesquite Farmhouse. It was stunningly clean, private, quiet and unbelievably peaceful. The beds and furniture are comfortable and charming, the bath is deep, and the hot tub outside was very clean and enjoyable. There is lots of wildlife, but surprisingly few insect issues with porch sitting. There was even a lovely doe and fawns that literally strolled up to be hand fed. We went to the club every evening for a bottle of wine and live music. It was exactly the rest we needed and our new favorite staycation spot. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our third visit to Barons Creekside, and my husband and I enjoy it more every time we go. The owners and staff are wonderful and truly make you feel at home. After already giving us a complimentary upgrade to our favorite cabin yet, Daniel was kind enough to let us check in early since we were traveling with a young baby and trying to accommodate her nap schedule. It is stunning, charming, romantic, peaceful and overall perfection! This was a Valentine's getaway for my husband and I and we were only a few minutes into our visit when we were already trying to figure out how to come back. Our cabin (Rhine Falls) was perfectly appointed and spotless and there are infinite little touches that make it so interesting to look at and enjoy. Daniel could not have been nicer! I give this place five stars because of the very friendly and accommodating owners; the Big Lodge where we stayed; the club; the ducks that had coffee with us each morning. This was a girls' trip (5 of us) and we had so much fun...much of that due to Barons Creekside. If you come to Fredericksburg, this is the place to stay!! The kitchen was well stocked so we were surprised there were no dish towels or hot pads. I would suggest eggshell foam on the beds. There were acceptable, but not comfy. Those are just suggestions. read more
