a patio with tables and umbrellas

Beautiful space. I love how they incorporated the shape of the natural terrain into the design of their building. Beautiful hand crafted wood tables. Earthy but modern vibes in the tasting room decor. They've only been open two weeks and I have to say I was really impressed. They're a little off the beaten path of 290, but it's worth the five minute detour. They have a limited wine selection which is understandable since they just opened but what they did have available was very approachable with a soft finish. I actually appreciate wineries that are selective and limited in their options. It tells me they are trying to focus on quality and not quantity. I highly recommend checking them out! If you like live music their outdoor space is set up two stories amphitheater style - once the weather cools down to under 1000° degrees it'll be a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine.

Absolutely gorgeous new tasting room near Fredericksburg. Building has an upper patio level with outdoor tables for nice weather. Inside tasting room, on the lower level, features tables hand-crafted from pecan trees that were felled during maintenance of a neglected orchard. Decor is immaculate, including sitting areas that look like they belong in a designer furniture showroom. Knowledgeable and friendly service. There's a food truck outside - or you can order from your table. Their vision is to make wine using only grapes from their own vineyards. They've planted acres of grapes around the property that aren't yet producing fruit. Their winemaking future looks bright, but I wasn't wild about the current offerings. Viogner tasted a bit flat and lacked brightness and crispness. Rosé was straw-colored and also somewhat dull. Reds, probably their best wines, are solid but not spectacular. But that's just me - pop in and try for yourself! Tastings are $30.

Yes, the outdoor patio area is kid friendly. We do require that the kids stay with their parents at all times.

We had been to a few other spots before and literally got red carpet treatment and people were genuinely happy we were visiting their establishment. However not the case at The Resort" We walked in and sat down and immediately the server came to take our order. She carded the newly engaged couple and asked them both for their ID's. When she realized the bride to be had a different last name then her mother, they asked for proof they were related. That's when everything got uncomfortable. For the bride to be does not share her mother's name has her mother was divorced many years ago. The server then asked to show proof of insurance where it showed that the mother paid for the daughters insurance. Being restaurant owners themselves, the mother questioned why she was being asked this, and mentioned to the server, it was getting very uncomfortable and to just forget about it. We would take our business elsewhere. The father of the bride to be felt horrible for all of us and went in to speak with a manager. The manager was rude, and started spouting off Texas ABC laws, which again our friend was a restaurant owner himself, and said there is no law that says a daughter and a mother have to share the same last name for proof of identification. By this time, the server had already packed up our wine, instead of putting it in nice bags , she put them in plastic bags, and taped them up, as if we were hobos (see pics), and brought us a bottle of wine, which she indicated was a "gift" as we think she felt bad for what had happened. The wine was not even from their winery. It was a bottle of Martha Stewart "Two Buck chuck wine". As we were leaving, the manager was in the bar, and I went over to tell him how horrible the experience was, instead of pulling me to the side to have a conversation he started yelling at me in the bar, he started quoting the same laws he had referred to previously, and told me I was never allowed to come back. I of course, said we were never coming back anyway. He was yelling at me as I left the bar. And yes, owners of the restaurant you can go back and see the video tape and watch him, follow me out yelling at me, in front of your whole restaurant. Customer service 101, even if the customer is wrong, you do not chase them out of the restaurant, make a scene in front of all your other customers, and never follow them to the parking lot,Not just bad customer service, but 100% uncouth. Then, he proceeded to tell me to fuck off as we were standing outside of the restaurant, in front of customers entering the restaurant, my son and our friends. I literally felt like I was at a low budget establishment, or bowling alley. So incredibly disappointed. Shame on you to the owners or lead manager of this establishment. You need to do better. (Im including a picture of how our wine was packed that day- where is the other open bottles from the other visitors were not sent home this way. They were sent home in nice carry bags with the Ventor's name on them)

The interior definitely feels more like an event space than a winery, but the outside has a beautiful view of the surrounding nature! I loved that you could do a sweet wine tasting! The Edge is a multi-purpose venue that serves as a restaurant when not hosting private events. It's not a winery and doesn't produce its own wines. Instead, it curates a selection of wines and offers a solid food menu for those looking for something other than ridiculously overpriced charcuterie boards. Now that we've got that straight, let's dive in. The Edge is the chameleon of Fredericksburg and adapts to what guests need. It sits on a beautiful property with stunning views, it offers ample space for large parties and plenty of TVs--perfect for catching football games during the season. The food? Definitely worth mentioning. The food options are predominantly American. I ordered a burger and a Pizza Roll and I couldn't stop raving about that damn roll (FYI, it's not a Totino's sized pizza roll). Despite the initial confusion, The Edge turned out to be a great find along the 290 Wine Shuttle route. Service: not the greatest, lots of lax young employees. Food took a while and was inconsistent in our party. Be prepared to learn the art of patience.

We came in just to get some beer, but it had more of a restaurant feel than traditional brewery. We sat in the bar area, and whenever I go to a new brewery, I always get a flight to try multiple beers. Altstadt has flights but they are prefixed, you can't make your own. Slight irritation but nothing major. I ended up getting a more German style flight with a Kolsch, Hefe, Lager, and Amber. They were all good with the Hefe being my favorite. I am usually an IPA fan, and they had one, but I was not able to try it. We weren't that hungry, so we just ordered some fries with beer cheese. These were crisp little pillows of heaven, and the cheese was a perfect dip. The menu was heaven on German food, but there's a wide range with some upscale items as well. The place was probably too fancy for me and my Homer Simpson hoodie, but they were still accommodating. Next time I will wear better clothes and have dinner but let me pick my own flight please.
