I went here last week with my husband and when we first walked in, we were unsure if they were open or not. There was no one in there except the bartender and a person sitting at the bar. We both liked the empanadas that we had as an appetizer, but felt our meals were somewhat bland. I had the eggplant in a tomato cream sauce, and he had the chicken with the tomato sauce, ham and cheese on top. We also didn't know we were getting salads, but she brought them out when we got our food, which I though was a little odd. Maybe she just forgot to bring them out before our meals?? The bread I got with my meal was amazing - I loved it. Very fresh and soft, I could've eaten 12 of those alone. The mango mojito was awesome, but the regular mojito and passion fruit mojito were a little too sour for my taste...but I drank them anyway. I wasn't going to waste a $9 drink! As we ordered our second drink after dinner, the bartender turned up the music so loud that we could no longer hear each other talk. There were about 10 other people in there, so it wasn't like she couldn't hear the song. It was just weird in my opinion. So we chugged the rest of our mojitos and left so that we could save our hearing. Honestly, it was BLASTING for a whopping 14 people (including the server and waitress) in there. I thought the food was only OK, the service was great, but the tables were super small and too close together. We did sit up in the bar area and didn't walk through any hallways, so maybe the tables in the back will fit more than 2 plates, 2 glasses, and a small candle? This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. It's very hidden...we drove right past it on Elston. The sign is not easily visible. The nice thing is there's plenty of street parking available. This place is really small. There's only about 4-5 tables in the front room with a bar and in the back room, another 4-5 tables. It's super dark in there so it's difficult to read the menu. Since it's a steakhouse, there isn't much non-meat selections but I was happy to see that they had gnocchi on the menu. The empanadas are a MUST-try. It's probably the most popular item on the menu. Each order comes with 5 empanadas for just $10 total. Each empananda has a different filling. There were cheese-spinach, beef, pork, chicken, and potato...all very delicious. The gnocchi was mediocre. The entree wasn't very large either and for $12 bucks, I thought it was on the high end considering there was nothing else in the dish besides potato dumplings in sauce. The gnocchi did come with a tomato salad. I am not into tomatoes much but I was very surprised, this salad was amazing! I ate every piece of tomato. It was seasoned very well. The service was good too. She checked in on us every so often making sure we were good on drinks and food. So in overall, good music, great food, good service. P.S. Here's the breakdown: When I used to eat meat, the pinchos (shish kabobs) were amazing! But I have not been there for food in years. There drinks are strong! This is a good thing normally, but they make drinks sound refreshing, yummy, and sugary, but this girl finds them almost rude (but they do the trick). I love this place...Have been here multiple times and the mojitos are good 98% of the times...and the empanadas are good 97% of the time..The mojitos are the best I've had in the city...I like to get the variety of the empanadas because some days one is better than the other... It is usually dead when I go but I don't go late at night since I'm usually going for the food..The beers could be colder... Negatives: It could have more light which is usually annoying if you want to look at the menu...and it is cold by the doors..the place isn't that big in the front...It is not the most comfortable in there.. but the empanadas and mojitos are worth the pain of the other stuff... read more

I love this place! It's my girls' night out regular spot and it never disappoints. The music is great, a nice mix of Latin, dance, drum-and-bass. The food is pretty good and the drinks are also good. It can be a nice date night spot, but it definitely gets loud once the DJ is on. I've never had their entrees but their appetizers are quite good. read more

I usually go on Tuesday nights, which are Brazilian nights. I like the people there, the food. A negative comment would be the time the food takes to come out... I usually go knowing that after ordering it will be 1hr + until I get the food. Their musts are... "vacio" (w/ french fries or mashed potatoes) and their " milanesa Napolitana". Their empanadas are good, but too fried, I prefer baked... The waitresses have a great attitude. read more

I went on a hot Saturday night. The rear dining room has three tables used and all of us were sweating up a storm with the lack of ventilation. The music was too loud for eating and conversing; and it was just reggeaton, so not even fun. The service was incredibly slow. I never had my water refilled. I could have ordered another drink, but the thought of staying there and how slow this drink would come turned me off. The interior was quite DIY in the worst possible way. The food was just okay. The empanadas, though not really Argentine, were fantastic. The chimichurri lacked flavor; it felt like more of a olive oil with a hint of parsley, maybe. The choripan had a very dry sausage and had no mayonnaise to help the problem. The sweetbreads lacked depth and were somehow boring. The milanesa was charred. The flavored mojitos, though syrupy, were perfect for that Caribbean weather we were experiencing. I'd say, if you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a couple of drinks and empanadas, then go dine somewhere else. read more

Pronounced "enye" I am usually here once a month on a Tuesday to listen to the live Brazilian jazz band Bossa Tres (www.bossatres.com) I have had some of my best evenings here.. This unassuming very small Cantina style place offers some of the best music and serves some the best drinks I have ever had. My favorite, fresh lime Margarita made with a crushed lime in it. Just perfect. According to my friends they also serve the best mojitos and caipirinhas as well. They don't use any pre made mixes here and the drinks are sweetened with home made sugar cane syrup. Food is simple and great. Typical Latin fare, few item and well made. I have never been disappointed. Few table in their front room and few sofas in the back has been packed every time I have been here. No cover. Music usually starts late, live or DJ, always Latin and always exceptional. Very eclectic, beautiful and friendly guests, mostly Latin fusion or Mediterranean( with a sprinkle of Sri Lankan when I am there) adds the perfect finishing touch to this place. So get here early, if it is the last Tuesday of the month you just might see me on the dance floor trying my own version of the Samba. Best Mojitos in Chicago :) Some old girlfriends were getting together at this restaurant/bar/lounge after a long time of not seeing each other. I'm rarely in this part of town, so when we approached the door, I turned over to my girlfriend and asked: "Are you sure this is the place? It looks REALLY sketchy." She completely agreed, but we went in anyway. You would never expect what we saw inside - dark, sultry, sexy space with HOT (I mean HOT) latin women, sexy men and awesome Brazilian music that makes you shake your hips (you cannot help it). Sure it's a meat market... but for three single girls (I was single at the time), it was great fun. After a few drinks at the bar, we went to the back lounge (I highly recommend this part more than the front of the house) where we had awesome mojitos that kept coming and coming. It was in the middle of the summer, so the fresh mint in the hot space was refreshing. They had other exotic drinks, but I stuck with my old reliable. We made friends with the people in surrounding tables, and at the end of the night, it was just a big party... I love watching latin dancers, especially if they are good! We left here completed sloshed, but had a fantastic time. Trust me... it looks scary on the outside, but it is pretty awesome. I went here for a Fri night dinner at 9PM. Neither my friend nor I have been here before but the place seemed quiet with only a couple sitting outside. When we opened the door BOOM-music, darkness, and intimate space. We noticed there was a back room but did not check it out. My friend ordered a mojito which she enjoyed and I got a caipiroska. I'm normally a liquor and ice cubes guy so my drink was pretty sweet but still enjoyable. We split an order of the 5 empanadas, chorizo, and short ribs. The chorizo was a bit salty and tough, but the very flavorful chimichurri that came with helped out. The empanadas had a crispy wrapping and were split in half which made sharing easier. The fillings were juicy but the beef one wasn't as good as the rest. Our server accidentally dropped the beef one but came back with another one along with an extra cup of the aforementioned chimichurri. Our short ribs were cooked as ordered and very tender. We had no problem cutting the meat from the bone. They came with mashed potatoes which were good but nothing remarkable. The chimichurri went well with these as well, notice a trend? Drinks, 2 appetizers, and an entree came out to about $50. This place is pretty dark with candles at each table. The music is loud regardless of where you sit so you'll have to speak up. Fortunately, the music is pretty good. My friend and I kept groovin in our seats while enjoying dinner. The DJ went from Reggaeton to Dance Hall to CHICAGO House, to Funk and was able to maintain the same vibe. They've got a pretty cool music based art piece in case you need a conversation starter. It's located in a quieter area so there aren't of ton of other places to go before/after in the immediate vicinity but it does make parking easier. I'd go again for drinks and dancing as well as dinner. The service and the bartender were great too. read more

This place is small but it's absolutely the best! Girls wanted to do a night out so we headed here for dinner. Started off with I believe it was a blackberry mojito. Amazing! I highly recommend it. There was great music being mixed by a Dj while we were chatting and enjoying drinks. We ordered some sort of seafood appetizer, sort of like a seviche. It was seafood on a bed of greens. Also pretty amazing! All us girls split an eggplant dish and the tilapia. I cannot describe to you how great the food was, I was totally sold on this place after the food. While we ate a guy jumped on drums while the DJ spinned. They had such good taste in music, they played everything from The Roots, to Salsa, to Pharcyde, Reggae and Eryka Badu. We couldn't stop moving around in our seats dancing while we enjoyed this phenomenal dinner. The waitress was amazing! She was so adorable because by the time we got to our meals quite a few couples and girls were up dancing and she would dance up to our table to check if we were fine and bring us more drinks. I loved that even she couldn't sit still. "Can you dance?" must be one of the requirements on the job application lol. I'm not sure what nights they have live music on but we got lucky on a Wednesday when we randomly stopped in. Beware, some legit dancers are in the house and you can tell they love this spot.
