Hidden in the back of Burning Bush Brewery is a cute, little speakeasy called Feather and Tail. This newly opened bar is small, intimate, and full of fun and craft cocktails. My friends and I enjoyed a game of shuffle board for free as we sipped on our cocktails and enjoyed choosing songs from their Jules box. We later ordered some snacks while we played a round of darts. We have been here a few times when visiting Chicago. It is a great spot to meet up with family and friends and grab a local beer. They also have a collection of board games that are fun and keep the kids entertained while we catch up and try the local offerings. I don't believe they serve food, but they do allow you to bring food in. One of our gatherings here was catered, and we ordered in pizza with no issue. Burning Bush Brewery is a great place to spend a weekend afternoon. One of the things that made my friends and I want to try this place is that they are dog friendly, which is such a win! Not to mention, there is also EASY parking that is NOT parallel parking! Another huge win being in the city for those who struggle (I know, I know...). When walking outside, the place doesn't seem like too much, but there is a good amount of space inside and on the patio. All the staff members were interacted with were laid back and willing to make great recommendations. We stayed inside given the temperature at the time and my dog had such a great time, too. The pours were generous and the prices were very decent! There is also a wide variety of choices of beer and wine on tap, as well as some non-alcoholic drinks. They do offer pizza and some other snacks at the bar, but the pizza definitely seemed overpriced for what you get (we saw someone next to us get it). The good thing is that you can bring your own food in without any issues. My lovely wife and I enjoyed our visit to Burning Bush Brewery on a warm weekend afternoon. We started with a beer flight, with four 5-ounce pours for $14. This included Sweet Demon, a strong red ale that is made with real bacon. You can also purchase a variety of 4 beer cans to go. The back patio faces the Chicago River, and supposedly you can spot an eagle flying overhead in this quiet area. read more

Attended a wedding, GREAT space for a wedding, some off street parking (arrive early, you won't regret it) a ton of ambiance. Particularly good for a party or wedding during warmer months as there's an outdoor area that melds when they open the large garage door. The open bar was well stocked with a great variety guaranteed to satisfy. I'll attach a photo of the bar menu. It's a craft brewery with no food menu but I could see the kitchen and the Hors d'Oeuvres, circulated by staff, were plentiful and delicious. The meal served was a salad, baked chicken, broccoli, potatoes and pasta. All were tasty and cooked properly for a large event like a wedding. I don't apply the same standards as I do at an upscale restaurant. Why only 3 stars? For me a major issue is sound. When you can't hear anyone speaking if they are more than inches away, the acoustics are wrong. And here, they actually suck. Brick walls, lovely, but no sound absorbtion. Flat ceiling, again, no sound absorption. Sitting at a round table for 9 there was no way to hear what anyone not seated next to you was saying. AND, the amplified voices of those making speeches were muffled by the volume of the speakers and the sound bouncing off of everything... tragic. Suggestion to the owners: ADD SOUND ABSORPTION TO THE CEILING AND WALLS. A few decorative rugs, canvasses or ?? on the walls, and whatever you like on the ceiling and your venue shoots to a five star review. I'll add, all the staff were pleasant, helpful and professional. Good job hiring and training. Again, loved the venue, wish I could have heard folks talking. read more

It can get pretty packed evening times though. They allow BYOF which is like biergarten vibes so we got some chicken sandwiches to go and only had the beers here. I personally liked the IPAs the most. It is next to a day care so it got overrun with little kids and families pretty quickly at around 3-4. Not a bad or good thing but just something to consider. Amazing venue and the beers are good, but perhaps not great. Firstly the venue is amazing and in a lot of ways reminds me of everything that was great about Metropolitan; it's right along the river, a big outdoor area, a spacious indoor area, everything is dog friendly, and I like that even though Burning Bush has some pizzas they'll heat up for you, they are totally fine with you bringing in your own food. The beers were good overall I'd say but nothing was incredible or super unique. I really liked a lot of their lighter beers - the belgian wit and hefeweizen were my favorites and just really well done examples of what those styles should be . I thought some of the sours worked well too. I didn't love the maple red ale as it was too sweet and then also the saison had a bad aftertaste. Looking forward to returning! read more

A lot of breweries along Irving Park and here's another small one that's a good hangout. Burning Bush only has a few on tap because they value quality over quantity. It certainly has that going for sure. A pretty good variety to choose from. The beers have Bible themes, but drinking religiously is the only thing you'll do though. Cool place just off Irving Park. It's actually located on Rockwell. This is a weird place for a brewery, with not a lot happening it seems. Pretty big place actually. There's quite enough room inside for tables. As I mentioned, all the beers have a Bible theme, but that's as religious as it gets. It's about $7 a pint. I got the Heavenweizen. This is of course a hefeweizen, medium alcohol content and light tasting. Girl got the Sermon On The Malt. This is an English beer, and is malty, but you already knew that. A few more to choose from. They also have a few seasonal ones, so reason to come back for more. Good beers. It doesn't have any food but you can bring some outside food in. This is the closest I'll get to going to church, so catch me here Sundays. read more

Herb-infused and absolutely unique in the city craft beer scene. Burning Bush has indoor and outdoor seating in the back--I'm hoping that somehow that can expanded to be less in the asphalt parking lot and more directly along the riverside which they back up to--across the water from Horner Park. Second time here! Really like this place. They allow dogs inside and out which is a big perk if you're a dog parent! The beers and ambiance is awesome. They don't have much food but do have a few options only the pizza is hot. The pizza is a little pricey for being a frozen pizza but it actually tasted really good. Interesting brewery in the northwest side of the city. Located on a street that is more so industrial and ironically right next to a gym (yes, I felt guilty walking right in front of the treadmill joggers walking straight into several beers to wash down with snacks, but hey! Lady at the front was nice and helpful. I got one of their hazy beers and enjoyed it. I'm not sure what it is about the space, but I feel like they can do more. It felt a little meh. I hope to return in the summer when it's warm and see if they have an outdoor space. I believe they are expanding their space with their back room? I love the patio, a chill vibe with people from all walks of life, nicely tucked away from the bustle of Irving Park Rd. This is what you want in the world of craft beer, friendly conversation, a sense of community and camaraderie...and dogs! Yes, there are plenty of cute pups out back to pet while you enjoy your flights. I am admittedly one of those reformed beer snobs, the kind that used to wait in the lines for the rare stout release. Burning Bush's beers don't quite reach the levels of some of the better breweries in Chicago, but there's plenty to like. Walls of Jericho, in particular, is a more than worthy hazy IPA, and Sour of Babel is damn good, refreshing sour that you'll want more of. Love having this place five blocks from my house! read more

They unfortunately opened the same time my wife and I moved out of the city and into the suburbs, so it's taken sometime to finally make it in, but we're so glad we did. Awesome vibes the second you walk in and the patio area is awesome. I had a flight and all four beers were pretty good but one stood out in particular. Mango Dreamcoat was so good - if it's on draft when you're there it's a must try. We ordered the cheese pizza which was also very good and a good size too. But what really made our experience great was the people working there. Everyone was so nice and personable. We don't make it back into the city as often as I hope we would, but whenever we do, Burning Bush is now a must visit every time! read more

This is a nice little brewery. Yes, there are like a hundred of these kinds of places in the city, I would argue that this has some of the better beer and better service than most. They have a Hefeweizen which is always a plus in my book. It's also really good! I also got a taster of their basil beer, pumpkin beer, and apple beer. All three were excellent with a special shout-out to the Apple one! The servers are friendly and there is always plenty of seating inside and outside. Good beer, dog friendly, nice staff! We came in a busy Friday night. They had a private event going on in the back. Not sure if it was just us - but the acoustics were terrible. It was by far the loudest brewery we'd ever been to, and our ears were ringing a bit afterwards. It was hard to hear conversations and we ultimately had to leave to go to another place. Came here with the hope of booking the community room for a private event next year and we were completely disappointed. For $100/hour, you can rent a few tables in a space the size of a studio apartment along the length of a hallway where other guests are constantly walking back and forth. Needless to say, this won't work for a rehearsal dinner. We did enjoy the back patio which overlooks the river somewhat, but it took over 30 minutes to receive our beers which was just ridiculous considering it was not a busy evening. We were about to cancel our order and leave when of course it came, so we had to stay. The beers were fine, only one (Lion's Den) was worth mentioning. If you live nearby, I could see coming here every now and then for a beer but I would not make this a special occasion venue by any means. read more

Nice variety of beers with unique flavors... I got the blueberry lavender (had to and loved it!), but there's more 'classic' ones too. They have some snacks like a small oven pizza, chips, cheese, etc. but you're welcome to order in. It's pretty big too with a back patio for the summer... and it's Dog Friendly!! I am updating my review of Burning Bush from about 8 months ago because they just keep getting better and better! They are now one of my top 3 breweries-they are as good as Revolution and Half Acre, my other two favs, and that is saying a lot. They have great range in the beers they offer: IPAs, double IPA's, sours, oatmeal stouts, pilsners, lagers, etc. plus a guest cider. My current go to is Imperial Lion's Den (double IPA). Staff are friendly and there is a big patio with heaters. Lots of people bring their dogs which is a huge plus as my dog really enjoys going there. Burning Bush follows all the Covid protocols, yet they manage to keep a positive vibe going (stress-free drinking). I can't wait until the pandemic is over and I can enjoy the great interior space as well. I will be sure to update again once I can enjoy the interior space. Cheers! read more

This place is great! The bartenders are super nice and accommodating. They even switched one of the TVs to the game we wanted to watch. My partner and I both tried flights and we liked all of the beers! They have a cute patio out back. The inside is quite open with lots of natural light. They even have a small community room that they rent for free! They also have a variety of nonalcoholic and ciders in cans. The only downside was that they didn't have many of their beers canned to-go yet. We are looking forward to our next visit. read more

My partner and I were on one of our long COVID walks before it was colder out and we happened upon Burning Bush Brewery. At first we were bummed to learn that the brewery was closed for a private event. But a sign said we could get some brews to-go along the side, so we popped down the alley to check out the selection. Come to find out, they also had a socially distanced back patio area with heat lamps set up that they were allowing folks to enjoy beer at, so we grabbed a table and got a couple of flights. We basically got one of everything on the menu by the time we left and really enjoyed everything. I don't think there was a single beer we didn't enjoy. The brewery also has some unique brews on their seasonal list, so I'm not going to go into all the details of the ones we liked because at this point, I imagine they're completely different. Either way, you can't go wrong with whatever beer you choose. Definitely stop in if you're in the area. read more
