We came to Punta Mita at the end of October heard about Barracuda restaurant .very off the beaten path but worth the drive. The appetizers could be a whole meal The garlic shrimp is to die for And the cheese chicharrones with shrimp.. We split the fish of the day which was mahi mahi. I wish I could leave a good review of this place because the food looked and tasted very good. We were so excited to come to this restaurant as it seemed like the nicest place in town, and we wanted to celebrate one of our last nights in town there. However, both myself and my friend who ordered the same thing (Molcajete) both got FOOD POISONING several hours after we ate here. My bf was lucky and ONLY got diarrhea; he had to run home immediately after dinner while we took photos in the streets. I guess I shouldn't have laughed at him because unbeknownst to me, I had it coming. I woke up in the middle of the night and the rest of the long night, I had to battle violent vomit and the runs uncontrollably coming out of both ends of my body at the same time. I had to cancel my dive trip the next day and had to stay in bed a whole day recovering. Luckily as soon as my body got everything out, I was able to bounce back. We're not sure what ingredient caused it, as everything tasted fine, but the repercussions were unmistakeable. Also the service was really slow. It took an hour to get our food, and meanwhile my friend was eaten alive by a mosquito as we waited. She was annoyed that they offered other guests insect repellent but not us. After eating a lot of street food, it's so ironic that we got sick at the nice restaurant we least expected to. I feel bad leaving a negative review since I know restaurants are hurting with covid, but food poisoning is also not fun. read more

Worse service and food on our trip. We waiting to be seated and got seated after the second party. The food took forever. Ordered the clam chowder and it took them 30 mins to tell me that they didn't have the bread bowl and another 20 to make my food. The pasta tasted like it came out of a box. Food was cold. They still charged us for a clam chowder bread bowl . It is not worth the time or your money to come here. Save your money for the local food vendors. read more

Literally just finished a meal here and have to rave about it. Best meal so far in Sayulita! Had a taco and tostada, the waiter was awesome in giving me suggestions of what to order. I got the seafood mix tostada which came piled high with veggies which was unexpected but welcome after a week of barely eating greens. The barracuda taco was his other suggestion, amazing! This isn't an ordinary taco as its fried so extra crispy and delicious stuffed with a seafood purée. All ingredients were super fresh and high quality! Highly recommended! read more

This was one of my favorite places but they don't all employees wear mask , the cooks , the hostess etc . The waiters wear this 1/2 mask .. not all of them , this is already a risk ! We started off with the tuna appetizer. This appetizer was excellent and the tuna was very very fresh. The next appetizer we had was the octopus carpaccio. This was also good assuming you like octopus. Very high-quality ingredients. Then came dinner. The food looked very beautiful. The ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. We had the mahi-mahi, the seafood skewer and a shrimp main course.However, every element of the dish was soaked in butter. It is so much butter, the food was almost not edible. You could not eat the rice due to the butter....too bad because I think it otherwise would've been good. Same with the vegetables. The service was good and the cocktails were generous. Our waitress was great. I will give it another shot but I will just have them hold off on the butter. read more

Was in Sayulita for a week for my buddy's wedding and to eat and drink our way through this awesome town. We wanted to try every restaurant in town but couldn't help but to go back to Barracuda because it was so damn good! Some of the freshest, most delicious seafood I've ever had. I walked by this restaurant one evening while wandering Central and spotted a woman eating what I surmised to be tuna sashimi, and I was over the moon. After he confirming it was good, I ordered one and it did not disappoint (that's a lot for me to say considering I am from Vancouver, sushi capital of Canada). Crab cakes was delicious, and finished with coconut lèche dessert. Best part about my dinner experience there was Moonrise acoustic band was playing that evening right in front of the restaurant and it made for the perfect evening out being serenaded my them. The food may be okay but the service is horrible. They completely forgot two entrees for a party of 5 and didn't notice or ask. We finally had to get up and ask about the meal (so long after all the other dinners were served we just canceled it.) Then they charged us for the meal they never brought. As consolation, they offered dessert. Maybe if I were 6 I would just want dessert for dinner, but off to another restaurant for a real meal. read more

Doesn't look like much and there isn't much description in the menu. But prepare to be dazzled. The shrimp ceviche is super tangy from a generous dose of line and the cilantro flavor is really nicely high lit. The marlin tostadas are done perfectly with a generous amount of supple avocado and a wonderfully seasoned fish. Two super thin and tasty tostada shells underneath support the weight and cracked with just the right of amount of crunch. They offer two cream sauces and three salsas that are worth experimenting with depending on your heat preference or love of creamy sauces. Less than $200 pesos for a nicely sized lunch. read more
