Abbi is the best, attentive bartender. She always remembers me and knows what I like!

My boyfriend and I went out to dinner at Barrel House. They had great outdoor seating next to a firepit or not. Great menu! More of an upscale restaurant but not white tablecloth fancy. Our waitress was very kind and helpful...our glasses never went empty. I just loved the atmosphere at Barrel House. A definite Awesome place to stop with Great food and drinks!

Not a bad spot. Parking was easy and getting a table at the bar was easy as well. We sat at the bar and just had a few beverages. The place is a bit more modern than what you typically find in the area. Upbeat and bright. The food looked very good. We already had dinner so just had the beverages. As far as eye candy, yes it was more hit than miss at least in the bar area on this particular Saturday evening. So I do recommend and would visit again.

If you're looking for a great dining experience - look no further. We decided to give Barrel House a try even though it's a busy Saturday night. We wanted to stay in and have the meal delivered - I'll tell you Barrel House goes above and beyond. From the moment you order, the process is simple and the options are delish. The restaurant offers a text service that you can track progress. Our order arrived earlier than the expected time - blew our minds. The door dash agent was so friendly and nice. The meals were all labeled and in their proper containers. Food was perfect, from the sides to the pizza and even the dessert. If you're a foodie, you've got to try the bomb cake. Highly recommended!

I was in Iowa from Chicago on a work trip. During my work trips I try to support local restaurants in the area. I looked on yelp to help me make a decision and I decided to check out Barrel House. When I went, there were only about 4 or 5 people in the whole restaurant and I sat at the bar. The bartender was new, but the other bartender that was there was helping but they were all having a side conversation the whole time I was sitting there and I didn't get served on as much as I should have. The food was okay. The salmon wasn't over cooked but it was close. The ambiance was a sports bar but it wasn't anything special. The whole experience was just okay. But the service along was lackluster to the point I wouldn't want to come back.

Ordered from them last week. The fries and pretzels were soggy. The sandwich was not too good either. Definitely won't be going back again

The dog days of summer can be so delicious…read more Driving and exploring all morning and afternoon lead us to needing some food and beer to refresh and recharge our batteries. Emily wanted to check out Five Cities based on their logo containing a dog and liking most of their beer offerings. We dropped in around 1pm to a mostly empty place as there was only one other table. The bartender was beyond friendly and helped us at every step of the way. We ordered our drinks at the bar and took them to a table where we could be alone. Emily started with the Bikini Bottom and I got the Here Kitty Kitty Kitty. Emily's drink came in a pineapple glass and was very strong on the pineapple flavor. Here Kitty Kitty Kitty was just about perfect for an IPA. We ordered a second drink with our food. I stuck with the Kitty and Emily switched to the Crush Tangerine. Next door is Central Standard Craft Burgers & Beer. As we were walking in, I jokingly said it would be funny if the food we order here came from next door. Sure enough, that is exactly what happens. Emily got The Standard Club with coleslaw, and I got the Fire & Smoke burger. I'd say within 10 minutes of our bartender taking our order (which we had to do at the bar), our food was in front of us in these neat little boxes. Once you crack the sticker, heaven is waiting for you inside. My burger came with lightly battered french fries. This style is my favorite, by far. Both Emily and I were in heaven eating our delicious food. From the first bite to the last fry was some of the best food I've had in months, maybe all year. Pair it with the beer and we didn't want to leave. I'd say I would like to try out Central Standard itself and see if the experience is the same there. All in all, we had a blast at Five Cities Brewing. I got a shirt and some (free at the time) stickers in their merch corner. Emily got a koozie and some stickers herself. The shirt I got was a medium and ended up running on the smaller/athletic side. If I can lose about 15 pounds, you'll get to see the fun shirt pop up in a future review as it has a funny saying on the back.

We stopped in to Granite City as it is right next to our hotel. Easy…read more. A hostess will seat you. No greeting arriving (or departing,) other than "just two?". She was efficient and smiled. Our waitress came over in good time and took a drink order which showed up in very good time. I also asked a menu question which she got the answer to right away. As another reviewer stated it is *cold* in there! I keep a sweater in my bag for this purpose but still, I was cold. 86 outside, 66 inside (at a guess of course). They may keep the air cold to cool down that hot open kitchen. Bring a jacket or sweater. Our food came out in good time. Portions were generous. Plenty of cheese on my burger. I can understand how another reviewer mentioned the food is salty. The burger is mixed w/a GC spice blend that does seem heavy on the salt. At first it was fine, but I couldn't finish my burger. After a while the taste just stuck in my throat and was too much. May want to pull back a bit on the amount of spice blend being added. The crinkle fries were really good. Nice and crispy. My dining comlanion got the buffalo chicken wrap. Plenty of meat, spicy sauce and veg in this wrap. Trouble is the wrap barely holds the filling in and as the sauce makes the wrap wet, it inevitably fell apart. It is very tasty though, and he happily ate it with a knife and fork. Maybe a bigger wrap is available? 'Cause that portion size is excellent. Staff do seem to congregate in the kitchen area with the expediter. As the dining room got busier, we naturally saw less of our waitress but she did check in a few times and was sure to keep the water glass full and offer drink refills. The ladies room really needs a visual make over and deep clean. It does have a bit of a swampy smell. A machine by the sink, that I believe is a dehumidifier, had a light on it blinking "empty". So the tank was full of water? If it had been running, that may have helped with the smell but I don't know. It wasn't offensive, just a humid bathroom smell. The beer is good, as one would hope from a brewery. They have a selection from Irish Red to pilsners. The menu says to ask about sours. The interior is comfortable, casual with a mix of booths and tables. A couple of the booth seats are in serious disrepair (torn/split material exposing the foam cushion) and need to be fixed. A bar with high top tables is on the other side of the hostess stand keeping the areas seperate. A glass wall seperates you from both the brewing tanks on one wall and the kitchen on another wall. Restrooms by kitchen. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Those entry doors (two sets) are *heavy!

Food is pretty good but WAY overpriced. $19.50 for a salad. Come on! But the worst thing that makes…read moreme never want to return is the sewer smell by and in the bathrooms. Literally the worst I've ever encountered and it took everything in me not to throw up. And having cracked booth seats is a huge restaurant turnoff for me.
