Boneless wings after I've already taken three pieces, which is what I ate for lunch.

Being that was the second time they've come here we decided to go with the lobster dip, as an appetizer. Fantastic!!! I highly recommend that. And then for my lunch I decided to go for boneless chicken wings and they were huge!! The only problem that I had with them is that the breading was very thick but being that I am a carbohydrate type of guy, it actually worked out my favor but I can see were some people wouldn't like that as much. Ended up taking most my lunch home with me considering that we had an appetizer and there was a boatload of chicken. Will definitely come back and keep everyone posted.

My friends and I have been waiting for this place to open and when they did, we went to celebrate the daughter of one if my friends For starters, they don't take reservations, but when she called they did reserve a table for us since we had a larger group. The ambiance is super cool. It's roomy and bright. It's not huge, but we didn't feel cramped. I'm not sure how they accomplished it in today's market, but there seemed to be a good amount of staff. They have a full bar and a nice selection of local craft beers. They did tell us that if there was a particular beer we'd like to have, they'd do their best to get it in I had the lobster Rangoon dip, delicious and meaty, and the lobster bisque soup. I enjoyed them both immensely. Everyone in our group was are than satisfied with their meals. I kept checking out the fish that others were getting and that will definitely be my next meal there. Fir just being newly opened the nailed it. Can't wait to go back

Barrel House just opened in Marion this week, and so far so good! First time in the space and I was blown away how beautiful it was. I love the pendant lighting and whiskey barrels hanging from the ceiling...definitely a cool vibe. The menu made it hard to choose. There's plenty on there that we wanted to taste test. No complaints! The staff was all pretty excited to be serving us, too, which is a nice change from the burnout most servers are dealing with right now in the world. We definitely enjoyed it - and we'll be back soon.

First visit with high expectations. Very nice new restaurant in Marion. Well decorated as the Barrel House although I did not get the theme. Had barrels hanging from the ceiling but a very limited bar with a few beer taps and minimal liquor offerings. Plenty of seating although outer waitress warned us the kitchen was very slow due to staffing. Understatement of the century. Ordered a couple drinks which were good. Took 45 minutes for our cheese curds appetizer to arrive. Very small portion. Took another 20 minutes for main course. Ran out of drinks and ordered another round which took 15 minutes. Food arrived and was very disappointed. I ordered surf and surf which was supposed to be salmon and lobster. I was missing the lobster! Had to flag down the waitress and was told out of lobster. She would order me some shrimp which took 10 minutes to arrive. My salmon was tasty but extremely small portion for the $17 price. Nachos were extremely underwhelming. Overall good atmosphere and nice wait staff but the wait time has horrendous and the prices charged are extremely high for the very small portions. I will NOT be going back. Unfortunately I don't think this place will last very long which is a shame because Marion needs more nice restaurants.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to try out this Barrel House restaurant in Marion for dinner after watching my daughter play soccer. We ordered the Lobster Rangoon Dip appetizer with tortilla chips instead of wonton chips. It was delicious!! My boyfriend ordered the Monday Barrel Burger Special with fries and I ordered their Barrel House Club Sandwich with a side of coleslaw. We both ordered craft beers from their awesome craft beer menu. Both of us enjoyed our drinks and our dinner. Our waitress seemed pretty new and not very knowledgeable about their menu. Also, we had to wave her down a few times to get refills on our drinks because she never came back to check on us until she brought our food which took a long wait. I liked the setup of the restaurant with the varied seating options. The decor was nice also. Just wish the weather would've been nicer so we could sit on their patio, but we sat inside at a booth instead. Overall, pretty good experience. Will probably return in the future.

The patio is nice, great tables and the servers paid close attention to what we may want/need in the food realm. My friend got a Greek salad and really enjoyed it. I got a burger with BBQ sauce that was messy as all get out and so worth it. Got the dipping fries and willing to say I was really surprised with how tasty they were. They are unique too so maybe made in house. The jerks with two dogs, one was really aggressive trying to attack someone else's dog that was totally chill. That definitely means a deduction even though there were rules posted, it didn't seem the staff was going to bother and I get that it is pretty awkward. Seems like the staff would have to hear the ruckus cause the dogs were by the entrance to the place. The other folks took their dog back to the car. It was the sort of outward aggression that would make me wary if they are regulars. We had already ordered and gotten our food so we simply kept a watchful eye out.

We found a table, but then another person told us they had a waitlist, but then let us sit there. We waited awhile before anyone came to our table. Once we had a server, things went well. I think they need a better way to handle the wait list. Our food was excellent and the patio was clean and lively! Everyone here works hard and works as a team. We will definitely return.

Even with everyone standing around the doorway (there is not much in the way of a waiting area), I was spotted right away and they took my name and said it would be a 30-40 minute wait. Turns out it was only about 20 minutes and we were seated in a comfy booth. The servers were super efficient given how busy it was. We ordered the cheese curds and they were nice and hot. I especially liked them because I prefer breading over beer battered. I ordered the F-3 with sweet potato fries and marshmallow. The sweet potato fries were a little soft/soggy even though they looked burnt, and the burger was a little more red than pink, but that's just a personal preference. It was still a solid burger. My husband ordered the F-3 Both, which looked delicious, and the cheese and jalapeno macaroni salad is always a win. My son ordered the F-4 with FF. He's loves a good burger, and wanted to eat it all, but the portion was large enough that he just couldn't. It was loud and energetic, and we had to talk a little louder, but overall it was a nice dinner out with good food!

So the staff is attentive and pleasant. I had a craft root beer (Barn Town Brewery from West Des Moines), that was really good as root beers go. We had appetizer Nachos, which were on Taco flavored Doritos. Nachos were solid but a little light on the beef and cheese sauce for my taste. The Soup, Salad and Breadstick was good and a perfect size for a smaller appetite. My friend had a Midwest BBQ Smash Burger without the bun, he would order it again. I had the Hangover Smash and it was a great bacon cheeseburger - add peanut butter (sounds weird but it was great), an egg, some bacon and smashed tater tots and life is good, with or without the hangover. The Irish decor is a nice touch as this was an Irish pub once upon a time. We enjoyed our meal and we will return, I loved the smash burgers.

Our server greeted us as soon as we walked in and was friendly enough. The food left MUCH to be desired. We ordered a bowl of wild rice soup with a side of the beer battered fries, the Italian sandwich with fries and the fish and chips. Instead of a bowl, a cup came out, which isn't a huge deal and is an easy fix. The soup was extra thick and wasn't heated all the way through. Almost cold in the middle. The Italian sandwich was ok, it contained all of the ingredients listed on the menu, and it was on bread about the size of a hot dog bun. The fish and chips, for $19, was probably the most disappointing. The fish was cooked well and tasted good, but both pieces together was about the same size as one of Gorton's battered fish filets. Given that there were only 3 occupied tables the whole time we were there, I expected more from the kitchen, especially given the price. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 for the server doing her job, and the fries were good. If I go back, it'll be for drinks, definitely not the sub-mediocre food. Note: The photo- Split, so it's on a smaller plate. Notice the size of the piece of fish. This was the size of both pieces. I wish I could say it was an oversized fork.
