It's rare that I give a one star. But this place gets it. We went here before a wedding party with a group. They served us drinks with literally a clump of bugs in the drink. Not one bug, an entire swarm of them. If they serve drinks that look like that, imagine what's going on in the kitchen. I couldn't eat anything after seeing this. Zero apology from the server. Nothing comped. They also have no cocktail menu. Went again last weekend after apple and pumpkin picking as my other dining experience was excellent.!! I will never know if Marco Barrila's food is good or not. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived for lunch at 12:30. Thought it was a mistake that one door was locked, but staff and customers still in the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Walked over and was kindly seated by one of the staff who then went to get waters. Before those even arrived to the table, a blustery Marco came out from the kitchen loudly questioning why we were seated and saying "that's why I locked the door!" . It IS possible to use the word "sorry" without actually meaning it. After that interaction we were then told we COULD have pizzas or salads. Perhaps a kinder way would have been to say to your customers, "I'm sorry, our staff wasn't aware, but we are only serving pizzas and salads at this time. Our main kitchen is closed because we just hosted a private event." With all of the great food options available on Long Island, I won't be going back to try this one. read more

Came here on a rainy Thursday looking for something a little different to try and stumbled upon this place after reading many positive reviews. The weather definitely hurt the dinner crowd this night, we were one of two tables dining here but the staff still made us feel welcome. We sat at the spacious bar and ordered cocktails - I had their special of the week, a limoncello martini which tastes like summer in a glass. I hope they keep offering it! Next, we had the vongole pizza which was perfection. Pizza and clams, what a combination. We also ordered baked clams that were rich in flavor but not as crispy as I normally like. The veal parmesan was well executed, but the star at this place are really the pastas. They're all homemade, even the spaghetti, which we ordered along with the veal parm and was perfectly al dente. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Solid spot over all - one thing to note is that even though this page and in other places in the restaurant it's called "Barrila's Pastaria Ristorante," the main signage of this place states it's called "Insatiable Eats," just FYI in case you have trouble finding it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bonus points that this place has its own parking lot, a rare find in this part of Riverhead. read more

I wanted to enjoy some pizza with the family, but this was their pizza margherita. The best way to describe it is that it reminded me of the rectangle pizzas from elementary/middle school. I'm sure there are decent food options on the menu but we missed them all. 2 stars for the solid service and bread. read more

Honestly, we were disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. The pizza was not good - flavorless, tough crust, very heavy cheese. Rigatoni with vodka sauce was ok. No specific complaints about it, but I can't say I'd order it again. Servers were all nice, but slow. All in all, we won't go again. read more

This place is the Best Italian in town. The food is prepared by a great Italian chef who knows how to put together a meal. All the ingredients with everything we had was Perfect! It was not my first time here and they deserve the some top recognition for running a fine establishment. Oh My!! Absolutely fantastic meal! Fresh Pasta. The pasta dishes remind me of my Nonna's home made pasta and the fresh sauces are to die for. If you are craving a REAL fresh Italian meal, look no further. You won't be disappointed. Our server Julio was fabulous. Customer oriented and intuitive of our needs. I was surprised he wasn't the owner as he treats the customers as they are his own. Ulise our bus boy was just as intuitive. The food from the beginning to the end was amazing. We decided to share each dish instead of getting individual plates. We started off with appetizers. First was the fritto siciliano, which included a mini rice ball, stuffed olives , potato croquettes and Sicilian fritter and the burrata and tomatoes. Then we got the fusilli primavera in a cream sauce and the individual margarita pizza. As if we weren't full enough we decided to get dessert which we also shared . I got the tiramisu and my husband and our good friend Kathy got the pistachio gelato in a tall margarita glass. I highly recommend this place. Large open family restaurant. We enjoyed our waiter. He could not have been nicer. We loved the food! I admit that I know the owners and was hoping that the food would be as good as the food that I have tasted from their catering company. It is better! Came to celebrate three birthdays. One friend had a birthday two weeks ago. Mine was the day before we went and another friend will have a birthday in two weeks. We ordered a lot of food and really loved it. I'm excited that there is fresh pasta to cook at home. Can't wait to try that, too. We love the food and loved the desserts even more. They are all fabulous. Not sure which I loved the best. The tiramisu is great and the Napoleon delicious. I don't remember the name of the pink and green dessert that has ricotta in it. Loved it! The profiteroles are also fabulous. I recommend the ravioli and the garden salad. The shrimp was also good. Looking forward to going back to try new things. The owners could not be sweeter. This is a great restaurant. This time, during Valentine's week, I decided for a change to treat myself to a non-Italian meal of duck with a fragrant sauce, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. Eggplant parm panini and salad took over 30 mins to get. We were only people in restaurant. Whatever, the food though, I'd be embarassed as a chef to send out the "panini". The mozzarella was a sprinkle of melted Kraft shredded cheddar from the bag, and the panini was literally a slice of Italian bread, razor thin and about 1/5th the size of the eggplant that was hanging off of it.
