They offer outdoor seating in the warmer months & if you are lucky enough you can get a view of the water (unless a car is blocking your view). La Plage has been a staple of the Wading River community for many years. It's reputation is well know for its excellence of cuisine & service. It looks like a quaint little beach house, across the street from the LI Sound. Which sometimes you can see, sometimes you can't due to the volume of cars in the lot. Its has a quiet kind of charm about it, the decor is nothing special. White, rustic looking interior. Nice covered patio for outdoor dining. But what makes La Plage truly special, is their food & service. The food is outstanding. Top notch. It is pricy. I would make this a regular dinner place, but this is once in while treat for me. Make a reservation! Especially if it is anywhere from June to September. Restaurant is very small. Walk ins will get turned away if they are full with reservations. I have been here enough times, i have some favorite menu items: the mussels, which come in a basil pesto cream sauce to die for. Rigatoni pasta with shrimp, has an ala vodka like creamy sauce that will have you wanting more bread to sop up every drop. The Tart Green apple salad is sweet & savory. The sweet corn soup is more than the name, also features crab meat and it is amazing! Creme brulet is my favorite dessert. There are always amazing unique specials on the menu. The portions are light. Get an app & a meal if you want to feel full. Or ask for another basket of bread, which is always freshly made. We've been back to LaPlage many times since my last review, and this restaurant is still awesome! They have an enclosed area outside which is the bar area, and it's my favorite place to eat since it's air conditioned, and you can still see the outside without being outside in the heat. Everything on their menu is still delicious, and the specials are now part of their daily menu items. The wines here are also amazing, and when they serve white wine, it is thoroughly chilled and delicious, the way is should be, unlike some other venues that serve white that is not. I don't understand why they don't, but I am so happy LaPlage does. every time! Their priced fixed menu is not only reasonable, but everything on it is delicious. The staff and service is awesome, and you are never rushed, no matter how busy or quiet it is in the restaurant. This place is also right across from the water, so you have a beautiful view while you are dining. I am so happy this restaurant is right down the road from me. With their awesome food, service, menu and prices, it is my go-to place for lunch, dinner, and happy hour. If you are in the area and haven't been yet, you should check it out. we were 4, we originally sat indoors, received our drinks but it was so loud we couldnt here each other talk. there was an available table outside and they were accommodating and moved is outside. The night was great. Now the food, we started with the beet salad and some clams, both were terrific. Two of us had a duck, which they thought was very good. My wife had the mussel appetizer as her main course and she raved about it. I had the broiled fluke, i thought it was just ok lacking much flavor. Overall a nice night. read more

I think like this restaurant more every time i go! La plage has evolved so much over the years and they continue to introduce new food, drinks, each one having a standout element! The manager Kristi is very welcoming and checked on me and my husband multiple times throughout our dinner. Staff like our server was easy to communicate with and was very energetic and bright. The support staff brought us fresh rolls straight from the kitchen! The host brought us to our table and immediately offered us service and made sure we were comfortable in the dining room! The food was amazing, As always!!! The standout dish was the Blueberry Almond Desert and the Burrata App. I will be coming back to this restaurant more often after this amazing experience! read more

Food was excellent. Service seriously lacking. After entrees were served we never saw our server again. Waited annd waited to order a second glass of wine so I asked a runner and she told me that I had to ask our server. She was nowhere to be found. Never came by our table to ask if we needed anything or to ask us if everything was ok. I had requested (when I made the reservation) that dessert be served with a candle as it was a birthday celebration. After sitting and waiting I asked if special request was coming and clearly there was confusion. We have been dinning at LaPlage for over 20 years, not often coming from Manhasset. We visited today for Lunch and it was just excellent, I had the Oysters followed by the Hanger Steak and the a delicious Crepe. My wife had a delicious salad to start and a pasta dish with Shrimp, followed by the Crepe as well, all excellent. Our waitress was perfect above the norm especially these days. We sat inside which was very comfortable in nice surrounding. They show their class by not charging for the use of a credit card. Since we were not familiar with the menu we opted for the specials for the night... A salad and a pasta plate with fish. The portions were perfect and the unlimited bread was delish. May 11 2025....came here for Mothers Day dinner. Read some good reviews and "the most romantic restaurant on Long Island". As a son of a chef raised in a kitchen cooking along side my dad, NYC trained and owning our own restaurant for over 11 years. I know a little about food and meal prep. Very expensive price fix menu for mediocre food. We had a lobster bolognese style fettuccine pasta that was swimming in its own juices. Tells me I'm about to have boiled pasta with little flavor, YEP! Next bacon wrapped shrimp over risotto. Shrimp were way over cooked and bland risotto. Next Black Sea bass, over leaks and white asparagus. Please tell me they were not canned. I had to go back on line a few times to make sure I was eating at the right restaurant. On their website their menu had a duck confit prepared table side??? Can't be the same place. Is there a new owner or chef. In bathrooms all I saw was these reviews hung up, dated 2007. Wow! First, the ambiance was wonderful. We had a table by the window in the corner. It wasn't loud and we could converse with our family. Second, the food. Every single item we ordered was fantastic. From the escargot to the Oysters Rockefeller appetizers to the beet salad and french onion soup. The starters were out of this world. We ate with a party of 4 on a busy Saturday evening. Al 4 of us were thoroughly disappointed with the food and service. The "sweet" corn soup was tasonly traces of sear marks and were soggy and nearly raw. The ravioli wrappers were thick, chewy and tough. The filling was tasteless. The service was nonexistent. We were totally ignored. We never even got a chance to order additional glasses of wine. Although we live in the neighborhood, we vowed: "Never Again." read more

We have been dining at La Plage for many years and went there last evening with friends. The food has always been very well prepared and fresh. But, last night the "special" appetizer, shrimp cocktail, was served with 3 of the 5 shrimp poorly cleaned with the back vein running through it. It was gross and I sent it back as you might imagine. This used to be my favorite restaurant before, but I was so dissapointed when I went recently. The prices have increased by 30%, with entrees costing $30 to $55. However, the restaurant it does not have a high-end vibe. The wait staff are not trained, it feels like you are at a fast food place with teenagers serving, which is completely ok if that is the vibe I am going for, but not at those prices. Our waitress didnt even tell us the specials (we only knew about it when we overheard from the next table), they did not give us any plates and were genuinely surprised when we asked for plates, they hurried us along to the point that we didnt even bother to order dessert. The food was ok but does not justify the price. However, the risotto was not very good. read more

I'm so sad to do this but to spend $200 on a meal that was so disappointing, is also so frustrating. That includes no alcohol. We had been here twice pre COVID and my God it was phenomenal. However, my husband and I just went for dinner over the weekend (drove 40 minutes) and from start to finish the food had no flavor sadly. So disappointed. We went to LaPlage due to the reviews and its buzz around town for a very special event. Unfortunately, we were left very unimpressed. We made a reservation for 8:30. We arrived just after 8 and our table was ready, so we sat quickly. Immediately upon sitting we felt as if we were being rushed. The server made us feel like we were asking too much by asking for a few more minutes with the menu. The martinis were not cold, our clams and oysters were not cleaned properly, think sand, and the meal that was to be served table side was not. My husband had the fluke which was good, but truthfully over salted and a bit dry. By the time we were close to finishing our dinners, the hostess was asking if she could clear our plates, the staff was clearly closing up and it was only 9:30. They made us feel as it was time for us to go. (Keep in mind our actual reservation was for 8:30 and we were sat a 1/2 hour early). We really wanted to have a nice dinner to celebrate but ultimately were really, really let down. We would not recommend and would highly encourage management to look at your Saturday night staff - unprofessional and unwelcoming. read more

We returned!!! And, what a nice experience. We had lunch there. There wasn't a wait to sit and we had choice of where we'd like to sit. It was such a pleasant experience. They had a prix fixed lunch for $30. A bargain for what you get. You can add a glass of wine from Macari Vineyards for another $5. We had the tricolor salad and oysters to start. Both so delicious. Then the chicken and duck leg confit. Again, both delicious. But, super kudos for the suck leg. The akin was amazing, cooked to perfection and the risotto was one of the best I have ever had. We had one each of the desserts, panna cotta and puff pastry. Again, both good. The service was perfect. We didn't feel rushed,nor did we feel neglected. This has alway been a great place and as expected we had a great time celebrating our anniversary this past Saturday. Welcoming ambience, staff and of course a delicious meal. What stood out was the enormous list of local wines. They were very patient with me in choosing a wine (Corey Creek White Cab Franc) which I really enjoyed but in addition to the many choices I was impressed with the pricing. They make a point of promoting local wine and it seems that they must purposely price them very reasonably which really impressed me. Well done! read more

I couldn't wait to get home and write this review. My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal last night. I was impressed with the quality of the preparation and presentation. On their website in bold letters it states: "The Most Romantic Restaurant on Long Island"-- NY Times Yeah... that's a stretch. I can see this place being a clam shack back in the day. Yes, its across the street from the beach. Its La Plage like?? It's close to La Plage but not La Mer. Got it? Walking up to the restaurant, there is a cheap weather door to the entrance. Once inside, there is a tiny bar with patrons both standing and sitting. The hostess stand is to the left. Once she found our reservation we were brought into the space. Again, very small but they've made it look cozy. We're seated and given menus. The first thing I zero'd in on were the cocktails. The cocktails look incredible! I ordered an Old Fashioned and my wife ordered a coconut martini. Very very impressed with the drinks. The restaurant week menu, La Plage went all out. No skimpy menus items, we both started with the mussels. The mussels were fresh and plumpy, cooked perfectly. This dish alone would have kept me happy all night. We both ordered the Branzino. The chef gets major kudos for this dish. Not a bone in sight and the skin had a perfect crunch. Truly a chef'd up dish with Sautéed Broccolini and Oyster Mushrooms. What I loved was the Sweet Corn Puree. It really made the dish pop giving it a rustic sweetness. What we didn't like was the desserts. My wife had the mint ice cream. The hot fudge sauce tasted like Bosco and the puff pastry was just yucko. We didn't come here for desserts, I came to have an incredible meal and what was served to us was just that, great food in a beachy setting. Disappointing would be the best word to summarize our experience. After hearing so much about La Plage and recently moving to the area, we were really looking forward to going here. To start, our server seemed out of sorts. He was not fully engaged for whatever reason, and it showed. He made repeated, albeit minor, mistakes, all forgivable but a detraction. However, this was not a major issue. The main issue was with the meals the kitchen provided. We ordered two fillet mignons, medium. They came out medium well, at best. One of the two was bordering well done and inedible. We also ordered two of the lobster "specials," which were deshelled lobster boiled in butter. One was cold but edible; the other (mine) was ice cold inside. It wasn't that the server had left it too long to serve; it was cold like it had just come out of the refrigerator. Our server did rectify the situation after asking our daughters to cut their steak in half so he could see it - awkward. It added another 30 minutes while we waited for new steaks to be cooked (a medium fillet does not take 30 minutes), and he brought me a new lobster which was excellent the second time around. Lastly, we ordered some creme brule and our server recommended pairing the ice wine with it. It sounded good, so we ordered it. Except the creme brule came out without the ice wine. We had to ask for the ice wine, and dessert was mostly done by the time it arrived. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant, and while we live about a 1/2 mile away, I suspect we will not be back. read more

Went the Last night of Resturant Week. They had the most extensive menu of any resturant I researched for Resturant Week. We had the freshest oysters for a small up charge. Also offered was Filet Mignon for a nominal up charge. The steak was cooked perfectly and was a large Filet. 50% bigger then you usually see served. Food and also the service was excellent. My husband and I went to La Plage this past Saturday night. My husband had the short ribs with scalloped potatoes and broccoli he said it was delicious. I had the Bronzino with clams , spinach and orzo it was excellent. Both of us had salads I had a beet salad and my husband had the apple salad. No complaints their both salads were very good. [Long Island Restaurant Week] Price Fixe Menu Review: I've been wanting to try La Plage for what felt like decades now. I finally had the opportunity and I'm mad at myself for not coming sooner. The Food was absolutely amazing, the drinks went down smooth, and the service was spectacular. Located on the water in Wading River, this restaurant wasn't hard to find it's just that getting here might be the problem. There are TONS of deer in the area so my suggestion is to come while it's still light out. I saw at least 10 deer on the streets leading to the restaurant. This restaurant has amazing views. The parking might be tough. The lot is really small and it's risky to park across the street without a permit. The Restaurant is decorated beautifully and had such a welcoming feel. I felt so comfortable and cozy being here. I love the fresh flowers placed around the restaurant. The candles on each tables were so romantic. This is a definite date night spot! During the summer, they offer outdoor seating. Since it was restaurant week, the deal was amazing. The Prices on the regular menu are fair as well. I loved the experience here I can't wait to come back and order off the regular menu! Thank you Max for making my first La Plage dinner an incredible one! My server Max was personable, knowledgeable about the menu, and kept checking up on my table throughout my meal. I was offered drink refills and my water glass never went below half full. I was able to enjoy my meal and take my time. The ticket times for the food were wonderful and gave me enough time to relax between courses. But the answer is YES! And yes is by far the correct answer. The soup was some of the best French onion I've ever had and the addition of apple gave it a crunchy component. 5 out of 5 stars -Crispy Pork Belly & Shrimp with Sage & Ham Risotto (LI RW Entree): 3 beautifully grilled shrimp with succulent seasoned pork belly. This entree blew me away. It was 100% perfection. No one can make a better risotto! 5 out of 5 stars -Warm Pumpkin Bread Pudding (LI RW Dessert): Absolutely delicious. This dessert impressed me and was the perfect end to my meal at La Plage. 5 out of 5 stars -Chocolate Mousse (LI RW Dessert): So rich & creamy, this chocolate mousse was so delectable.
