Not a bad Italian restaurant, but there were small issues that did not give us the experience we were hoping for. Heading in, we told the server that we have about 1.5 hour before our show, making sure he is aware. He said, "No problem. Plenty of time." Sadly, throughout the night, we felt ignored a bit even when we were just simply trying to speed up ordering or pay our bill. I know he was busy with a full house, but we weren't asking for too much. Somehow, it took us nearly the full 1.5 hour to finish the meal, hence rushing to the theater barely on time. Another big issue was food that didn't come out hot. At the suggestion of our server, we ordered a combination platter of appetizers. It was huge with six different items and most of it tasted alright. Unfortunately, several items were not hot. Even worse, the shrimps and mussels were cold, which we brought to our servers attention and asked to take that portion of the platter off the bill. He offered replacements, but we had plenty of food and no time to wait for another round of appetizers, so we declined. After another 20 minutes, he brought us new plates of both items, this time hot. We looked at each other and just went with the flow. With that delay, our time was becoming a little more limited. We received our entrees about 45 mins before our show, which is still okay since the theater was a block away. I enjoyed the well made Veal Marsala, which was huge. Keep in mind that food is served in family style portions. The Penne Siciliana was also huge, but nothing special. We also asked for a Caesar Salad, which was decent. With 25 minutes to go, we said okay to checking out the dessert menu. Unfortunately, 10 minutes passed by before our server brought it over. We simply couldn't afford to chance another delay and just asked for the check. Paying for the bill took almost another 10 minutes, which made us rush to our show. Btw, the shrimp and mussels were not removed as we had asked for. We weren't going to fight it. Like I said, well priced Italian restaurant that serves decent food. Had dinner here early April 2025 Saturday night. Place was busy which I was happy to see. This place has an old school authentic feeling soon as you walk in you are greeted by a lovely man with thick Italian accent. Nice touch. We were seated within few minutes and had a charismatic waiter. Sorry, been a while since my last review. I went to La Famiglia this past weekend with my wife's family to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. It wasn't great. The restaurant is nice looking. Beautiful bar. Clean bathroom and a decent amount of parking. That's the good news. The service was uneven at best. The main waiter was pretty inattentive. After he took our order, he pretty much ignored our table - not even checking to see that our food arrived (one of our dishes was missing). The waiters bringing our drinks were not great. The young waiter banged into me more than once while delivering drinks or refilling my water glass. We had to track someone down to order a second round. I didn't think the food - which was fairly priced - was very good. The dishes are served family style so we ordered a salad, some bruschetta and six entrees. The pasta special was a cheesy mess and basically a salt lick. The veal dish tasted like cardboard. The shrimp dish had a weird color and you couldn't taste anything but melted mozzarella. The chicken parm, in my opinion, was fairly good. I was in the mood for eggplant parmigiana. We made vegan eggplant parm for my nephew at home a few weeks ago (we nailed it!) and I've been wanting it again. Well, unfortunately, the eggplant parm was horrible. Just mushy and tasteless. I would have sent it back if a waiter ever checked on our food. A few pet peeves. Only one NA beer on the menu. Heineken Zero. I like HZ, but I'd really like a choice. We keep coming back here over and over again! I have two opinions and reviews. 1) events here 2) casual dinner here. I had my baby shower here after I went to multiple events here and LOVED them! -I've had pasta with red sauce and penne a la vodka, both amazing. -Caesar salad was delicious -chicken parm, chicken franchese both were tender and could eat over and over The punch you get and the volume of food is so memorable. We came for dinner weeks after the event and started with the anti past special that everyone raved about! It was so much food, it was so hard to eat our entrees! 10/10 recommend coming here for a great ambiance and quality food. read more

Last night we decided to grab drinks and appetizers at the bar. I was surprised that La Familgia had a full house of customers in dining room but we got lucky and grabbed 2 seats at the bar. We enjoyed Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon along with meatballs, Meslun Salad and Bruschetta. The food was amazing and fresh. The staff was attentive and we were literally the last to leave the restaurant at 10pm. Thank you soo much for the wonderful, relaxing dining experience! All the apps were so good, & b/c was with a large party, got to try ALOT ...... real standout was the broccoli rabe w/ cheese inside an egg roll w/ marinara sauce (!!!!), fried calamari, baked stuffed clams, & eggplant parm, & stuffed mushrooms. And that was just the apps! The chicken w/ artichoke in cream sauce was the standout of the entrees, although the pasta w/ pesto cream sauce was also great. Reserved for my daughters bridal shower food and table service was great however planning went wrong. Arrived to decorate one hour prior to event time and found the door locked and the lights off, no one in sight. Thank goodness the cake person who knows the owner was there. She called the manager obtained a key and opened the door. No staff was there and no table set up was done . Ten minutes later two waiters came to start arranging the room. Decorating was rushed and not what I pictured it to be. Stress I didn't need on my daughter's special day. Very disappointed in that aspect of the day however the event was a beautiful success. read more

Had never been to this restaurant, so my husband and I thought we would try it. They put us in a corner with a table that had leaves hanging down which I had to deal with hitting my knees. Finally, got them to snap up. The tables need to be replaced, they look like they can from a dump. Service could be better. We both ordered ice tea and were never given a refill. We did with water but not that... We were one of two other parties in the entire room so it wasn't busy... so there was really no excuse for the lack of service. The food was actually good. I'm Italian and I know good Italian food. The deserts were also good. They need to work on the service and the furniture. read more

While in Babylon today my cousin and I decided to try La Famiglia after reading the wonderful reviews ! This was my first time here and although everything was delicious and well prepared I was somehow expecting the food to be a bit more impressive. Basically standard Italian food . The interior is nicely decorated, very clean and neat with a nice bar and lots of seating with a very sophisticated atmosphere . We did come for lunch and it was very quiet with just a few customers eating at the bar and a few at the tables . We were immediately seated and brought menus . The server was very polite , quiet and attentive and didn't rush us at all . A nice bowl of warm Italian bread and butter was brought to the table ! Yum ! We went with the PRIX , a very reasonable $21, and decided to share our selects. The appetizers all sounded so delicious , we ordered the bruschetta and the mozzarella salad with tomato and roasted peppers , both were plentiful and very tasty ! Our entrees were Sole Oreganata and Chicken Parmigiana , served with fried potatoes and veggies . The fish was moist and perfectly seasoned with a bread crumb topping. The chicken was also made well , it was tender and had a nice marinara sauce ! All very simple and standard. I would definitely come back again and try a pasta dish as I feel that was missing from our meal , I would have preferred that over the potatoes. All still very good! read more

The portions sizes are HUGE, prepare to have leftovers for the week & the family style option where you get all the specials is for sure the way to go. Great atmosphere, great service and even better food. The homemade cheese raviolis with the cheese sauce, pecan or walnuts (don't remember) and the craisins was a fan favorite and if I had to get one thing I would get that!!!! One of the best LEGIT family style restaurants out there. They have some of the best tasting food and best portions you could ask for. That being said if you're the best you're gonna be busy and trust me it is. If you're thinking of coming on a whim honestly don't bother. It's very loud and very fun inside but it's small and personal as well so it gets crowded. The parking lot is also small so plan accordingly but it's all worth it! read more

I was craving stuffed ravioli with spinach and altho they didn't have it on their menu, they still made it for me. Which I thought was very sweet. Everyone enjoyed their meals as well as the cocktails. Let's just say, we ordered 3 rounds of drinks. Been coming to this amazing resturaunt for years and I love it everytime. The family style is always more than enough but they do give you the option of smaller plates. La Famiglia Italian Restaurant in Babylon set back off of Main Street a nice place to get good food with kind attentive service. Note that it is near the Argyle theater just to the right side (facing theater) the building a bit off set to the back. Also note that there can be a wait line to get in where reservations could be helpful. The lovely young lady in front Caera was sweet and helpful. The manager got us seats in the bar (with full food menu) as our show at the theater next door was an hour away. The bar tender Kevin also served as a waiter and helped to set up and dish the food and make food choice recommendations. Italian egg rolls a specialty of theirs were tasty along with food of meatballs and spaghetti, noodles with meat sauce and warm bread with a flavorful oil dip. The 2 meals plentiful , gave us leftovers to know for our next visit, unless really hungry, to order an appetizer and 1 meal or a few select appetizers with drinks. read more

We decided to order food to go. We called ahead of time around 5pm since it's a Friday night but was told that it would still be about 40 minute until our food was ready. When I got there to pick up the food the hostess was ringing up another couple so I glanced around inside the dining area - made eye contact with some of the wait staff and they did not look friendly at all - they didn't even say hi or anything so I was a little thrown off by that - can't imagine now what the service will be like when you dine in. The hostess on the other hand was very nice and friendly and apologized for the wait time. Other than the service I'd say that the pasta is really fresh and cooked al dente. We stopped in before a musical at the argyle playhouse for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were incredible for the price. My wife and I both had shrimp Parmigiana and dessert with 2 drinks and our bill was under 65 dollars. They have small and large sizes unless you're sharing get the small . the photo below is a small. I was in the mood for pasta and this family style restaurant most definitely satisfied my cravings. My girlfriend and I ordered two different entrees. A pasta entree and salmon. Both very delicious. It's a family style restaurant, so one would've been fine for the both us. Safe to say we had left over and were completely okay with that considering how delicious everything was. Both my nieces graduated so my sister in law had a family party at La Famiglia before my oldest niece goes off to college. To the left, there is a similar table with about the same amount of people. I'm thinking we're going to be served a gloppy suck fest of Italian food coming my way. I have to give it to the La Famiglia chef, all of the food came out fresh. This is a red sauce, Italian comfort food place. All of the dishes came to us family style. The food just kept coming and coming, I'm expecting to see the owners grandmother stirring sauce in the kitchen! The starters were both hot & cold antipasto plates. I was very impressed with the calamari. If overcooked, calamari turns into rubber bands. What was served to us as well as the other table was perfectly cooked calamari, fresh mozzarella cheese, olives, roasted peppers, hot mussels and stuffed mushrooms. Then, the parmesan plates start coming out. The chicken parmesan platter, its something I wouldn't order going out to dinner but its what I secretly crave. Hot, with melted cheese and sweet red sauce, brings me back every time. My wife loved the eggplant parm, I'm not a fan of eggplant so I cannot comment except to say more for everyone else. The pastas were also on point. Not overcooked, it was a nice addition to the table. It wasn't freshly made pasta but when the red sauce is king, it elevates the plate to another level. I say there was at least 55 covers between the two tables and La Famiglia delivered. The food was fresh, tasted great and everyone left happy. If you're looking for a bridal / baby shower luncheon or any large party, La Famiglia should be on your list. Its a large space and the food was fresh and deelish. read more

I would give this place 10 Stars if I could. Just a quick story. Passover 2024--we have not had leavened bread for 10 days, only Matzo. My family is staring at me with big eyes, looking for the best reward, Pizza. All together we yelled La Famiglia! I get pizza, garlic knots, salad, zucchini sticks, and for myself, my very favorite, Spanish Cauliflower white pizza. I dream about that all week long. Long story short, my adult son wanders down into the kitchen the next day, heats up the cauliflower pizza and says it was the most delicious thing he has ever had (from a man who doesn't even like cauliflower). Again, Nicole, and the gang here are exceptional. They are like family and they create community wherever they go. Make it a regular stop, support local business and keep Glen Cove humming. Decent family style restaurant in the village. We came with a large group for dinner on a Friday night and they were very accommodating and attentive. My bf and I split the family size fried zucchini-mediocre at best, it lacked flavor and was full of grease. We also split the tortellini bolognese which was excellent and enough for leftovers. We love this place. We have been coming here for years and always have a great experience. The folks are all super nice, and the service is always attentive. Meals are family style, so they feed at least two. Best thing to do is order a couple and strap on the feed bag. Sharing is part of the fun. You have to try the fried calamari La Famiglia style, with sauce and cherry peppers! We also love the Rigatoni La Famiglia. Great combination with the sausages. My wife loves the Chicken La Famiglia. It is a family style restaurant, so the portions are made for more than one. I would recommend going with a larger group or someone that enjoys the same food as you. I've probably had a good amount of the appetizers over the times I've been there. The calamari, fried zucchini, chopped salad, antipasto, etc. All were good. Have to love calamari. The meals are also good, just large. The ravioli are fine. The chicken dishes were good. The pastas are good. However, the steak and shrimp platter is where you want to go. Steak, potatoes, shrimp, etc. All good. The dessert menu is a good spread too. I have never had a bad meal here. There is always plenty of food, so come hungry and bring friends because the meals are meant to be shared. read more

I'm deeply saddened to be writing this review but someone has to do it. We got calamari as an appetizer and I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. I'd prefer to chew on my croc. My uncle got the pork chop and I can't even believe what I saw. He took one bite and exclaimed "ROADKILL", and he's a very honest man. Service people were nice, but that'll never make me come back. Seafood was rubbery, and sincerely just god awful. This restaurant needs Jesus. I wish I could give 0 stars. read more

Great food. They had an issue with timing of the food coming out of the kitchen. We told them that we had a show so we needed things to move quickly. They did the total opposite.
