Fantastic food. I was at the beach and thinking crabs, but I saw the amount of stars this place had and tried it. The guacamole at $12 is very pricey, but fresh and delicious. Other reviews said tamales were good, so I tried a chicken one. Yummy. I expected a corn tamale stuffed with chicken, but no, it is a full corn tamale with a chicken sauce on top. I assume all three tamales are served this way, so try whichever you want the most - the tamale will be the same. I had a pastor taco on the advice of the counter-person. It was good, nothing to crazy for. I would try a different flavor next time. The star of the show was the empanada. Again, I had chicken but was close to trying the shrimp. It was fresh-fried and really good. Lastly, I ordered a side of rice. It was excellent, very reminiscent of Uncle Julios' dry, Spanish rice. But at $5 a side I did not try the beans. I wish there had been a rice/bean combo for $5 as I was just one person. The food rates 5 stars. The staff was friendly, but they should do more. The outside tables needed cleaning and especially the ground needed sweeping. It was a mess of napkins and tortilla chip pieces. So the "atmosphere" takes a hit, too. You sit at a counter inside or one of about 5 half-picnic tables outside. read more

Tried this place out cause I was craving birria tacos on vacation. We had the chicken empanada, shrimp empanada, shrimp tamale, chicken tamale, fish taco, and the quesobirria taco. Certainly not your Taco Bell type food. If you want your stereotypical, boring ass Tex mex, this ain't for you. Tamales: these are a little different than tradition tamales. It's a open faced with the seasoned meat & Roja sauce on top. They were a tad on the salty side for me, but this was my friend's favorite. Empanadas: this was personally my favorite. Very crispy and the toppings complimented the smokiness of the meats. Cojita cheese and queso fresco had the perfect tang. Shrimp was particularly good & perfect bite size. Fish taco: delicious, the pineapple salsa was good. Fish was well seasoned & cooked to perfection. Pickled onions & lime atop is a must. Quesobirria: consommé was decent overall. Not the best or worst I've had. Meat was flavorful & tender. I would've preferred a side of minced cilantro and onion. They did have cilantro on the side, just not cut very finely. Parking was ample. They have a order window, so no indoor seating. However, there were 4-5 picnic style tables outside. Bring cash! They were having some WiFi issues, so you'll have to find an ATM if you're cashless. We ended up ordering online and using apply pay. Joe (the manger/owner?) was super kind and accommodating as well as the rest of the FOH staff. I'd return if I'm ever in the area again! read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food DO NOT go here. The only good thing we had was the agua fresca's, so for that I give them one star. We ordered a chicken quesadilla for $9.00 and it was basically a small taco. Way over priced!! The birria tacos were the worst I've ever had and not worth the $6.50 for ONE taco. The cheese wasn't even gooey and melted it looks like they just slapped some cardboard looking cheese on it and didn't have much flavor to them. The churros were rock hard and had an odd oil taste to it. The queso flameado was more of like a cottage cheese soup and the chorizo inside of it looked like dog food out of a can. It is a small restaurant with outdoor seating, bring your own Lysol wipes to clean your table. Overall we spent $90 on food for four people and we left hungry and unsatisfied. And bring cash because you get charged a convenience fee for using your card. I noticed on all the good reviews the manager comments back but on the other reviews she's silent. read more

This is the newest addition in the Our Harvest/Liquid Asset/Annabelle's family & the same love & care was put into this authentic Mexican eatery... we started off with a delicious agua fresca & a Mexican Coke (There IS a difference) Then we got pozole, refried black beans & some homemade guacamole, while we waited for our our tacos. Outstanding flavors - I had two tacos. The barbacoa was tender, juicy, and flavorful and the carnitas was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Served with pickled onions, radishes, fresh shredded cabbage and lots of fresh cilantro and slices of limes. It was perfect - Couldn't have been any better! Also choices of freshly made hot or mild salsas. Super friendly service and an outdoor take out/pick up window for convenience. There are a few colorful outdoor picnic tables available for seating. Fantastic taco, loved the quesiribba(might be spelled wrong) that has a tortilla fried in beef stock that gives it extra flavor and a very satisfying CRUNCH the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I've had better tacos and I prefer them a little smaller and with various kinds of cheese. These tacos were all very flavorful but 2 /3 of the ones I got, didn't include cheese. Also I went on a Tuesday and there's No Taco-Tuesday specials...how is that possible? Lol read more

This place is out of this world. They really did their homework when opening. Truly authentic Mexican cuisine. Homemade tortillas and dishes I thought I could only get south of the border. All food is made to order and they don't cut corners. Chorizo queso dip is amazing. Chunks of chorizo on top of the dip and loaded with flavor. Guacamole may be the best I've ever had. We had Beatrix and Silvio cater our Cinco De Maya party on Thursday from the restaurant. They did not serve but set it all up perfectly. It was superb. They make all their tacos and chips fresh every day. Their guacamole was beyond good and fresh three days later. Their enchiladas and refried beans were delicious and they brought all the fixings to make your own taco from sweet onions to cabbage and everything you could imagine plus delicious shredded chicken and pork. We also had sweet tea and the best fresh pineapple juice ever made. we also had their flan which was the best flan that I ever ate. Not a piece remaining. If this is any indication of what the restaurant offers every day, it is a place that would work for everyone. Highly recommended! read more

A cute little taco shop, you ordered from an outside window. I got the guac and a chorizo taco. Guac was good but average, chips were very overly spiced. Hands down best tacos on the Eastern Shore. Everything is freshly made to order. I had soft shell crab tacos, shrimp tacos, chicken, pulled pork. All excellent! (Please note that I didn't eat all that at one sitting) My wife and I ate there 3 times in 10 days. One time I called up 10 minutes before closing to order dinner including quocomole. They actually made fresh quoc for me because they didn't have and exisitingredients on hand! How's that for customer service! read more

It's not often we find a taco shop that owes us, but Barrio? ** W O W ** We tried several different items- pork, chicken, barbacoa, in various forms- quesadilla, taco, tostado, empanada. All delish! Ready to pick up quickly and friendly staff to greet me once I arrived. My only sadness was I forgot to order pasole, which was my main draw to Barrio in the first place! Guess that gives us a good reason to visit Ocean City in the future. If you're craving Chipotle and don't feel like making the drive to West O.C., this may be a good option for you. I got 1 Quesabirria taco, 1 carnitas taco and an order of guac. The beef was dry and lacked flavor, the consomme tasted like average beef broth w/ some cilantro added. The carnitas taco appearance was unappetizing- cubed cold meat. I didn't eat it as a result. The guac lacked flavor, lack of tomatoes, onion, seasoning and flair. The chips had more seasoning than the guac actually- dusted with a spicy blend of seasoning. Only redeeming aspect of this place is the friendly and helpful staff. read more

I found this place by accident....what a happy accident it was!!! It is located on 64th street on the side of the building. I ordered a few different kinds of street tacos. They were all delicious!! Overall I thought the restaurant was pretty good, especially for the first week. I think some of the problems are just growing pains. The only think I really did not like was the PLASTIC WRAP in my pozole - yuck. We got several things so I will rate each one. Pork Tamale - 9.5/10. Portion is huge. Pork was tender, tangy and spicy. Very good dish. Our favorite thing by far. Quesabirria Taco - 9/10. Portion is huge. Beef was tender and flavorful. Cabbage, cilantro, onions, and lime really made the taco perfect. Hibiscus Aqua Fresca - 8.5/10. Yummy. Sweet and tangy. Something in it a little spicy (not hot spicy). I would add a little more water. Once the ice melted just a little it was perfect. I will try another flavor next time (pineapple). Pozole - 8/10. Portion is large. Lots of pork. A little spicy. Needs a little more broth. Needs to be in a different container (like for soup) - it got everywhere. Could use a little lime. Leave out the plastic wrap (haha). Fried plantains - 7.5/10. Good portion. Served with cheese on top. Never had it that way before. Was just okay with it. I would leave it off next time and it would be a 8/10. Shrimp Empanada- 5/10. Filling was good but not enough. Dough was too thick and dry. Not crispy at all. Not sure if they are frying or baking, but frying would be better (or more of it). Maybe a salsa or sauce would help this also. I tried to order the churros but I guess they didn't hear me because I did not get them. When I asked about them they said they were not on my ticket. I really think limes should be served with everything - acid would've made all the food better. We will go back again and try other items next time. read more

If I could give it 6 stars I would. I stayed at ocmd for one week and I ordered food from Barrio three times! It's really easy to order online and at the window. The kids working there are the sweetest ever. The food is amaaaazziiiing. I recommend any of the empanadas. Make sure you ask for utensils if you're eating on the beach! This is a MUST read more

So this place is the kind of place that wouldn't let you down. It has solid food, not long of a wait, and it's not too crowded (i think). I ordered 3 types of tacos: Quesabirria, Asada, and Pollo. The Quesabirria completely blew me out of the water because that's not normally my favorite. The Oaxaca cheese and the salsa verde they use really make it something special and leaves you pondering. The Asada was great but not the best i ever had. And the chicken was a shredded kind of chicken that i could've not or had and it would've just been cool either way. The guacamole was quite good, but I've tried many guacamoles in my life so this was just an 8/10 despite it not having really major flaws. I tried the queso (cheese dip) at this place and it was just average; i wouldn't advise anyone to order it unless they were really looking for it. The rice was your typical mexican rice and it didn't let down. The only thing i didn't like was how narrow the benches were; it was tough to eat with a family of 4. Also, just to warn you all, they only have corn tortillas so beware. However, the food was good, but just nothing that would make me crave it long term, but that's ok not every place needs to do that. Come here if you want a place that has great Mexican food, but not if you want your socks to be knocked off. read more

I knew I was in for an authentic Mexican treat just reading the ingredients. The pozole was unlike any I ever had due to the unique corn and chunks of tender pork. It was more like a stew. The tamale featured a large portion of the mesa dough and in this case it was blue. Rather than having the barbacoa inside, it was on the sides; very tasty and a generous portion. The cheesy dip with chorizo was enjoyable with the corn chips. The tacos likewise were tasty. Portions were generous. I will definitely return. It's on the side of a strip shopping center and a little tricky to find but well worth it. My only suggestion would be for them to include a small container of pickled jalapeños in the order along with all the sauces and lime wedges they provide. read more
