In selecting a roof contractor, I had time on my side and began the selection process months before needing the work done. I chose to go with Mike Franco because he was a local, straightforward & straight talking guy who seemed knowledgeable about his craft and proud of his work and longevity. Mike met with me when he said he would, walked me around my house, explained the importance of various aspects of a quality residential roof replacement and provided a competitive proposal on the spot. Mindful of the weather, Mike scheduled the work on an ideal day in March. Once again, Mike and his crew showed up on time, completed the job on time with no upcharge surprises and cleaned up so that one would never know the property had any work done on it. I had an emergency roof situation where a huge tornado-like window caused my over 100lb chimney cap to blow off. Unfortunately for me, I live in a rowhouse in Boston where I literally do not have any roof access at all, let alone the reach to adjust and fix a chimney cap that is an extra 30 feet high away from the nearest sky light. I could see the damage but I certainly couldn't reach it. And to be clear, this is not the type of roof that is eagerly serviced by many due to the height, difficult access and complexity. I emailed out to 15 different yelp roofers, of the few that responded with an ability to service (or at least look), only WRC roofing was understanding of the situation and agreed to act as quickly as possible. Even though it happened mid-afternoon and they were far away, they were willing to come asap and arrived within the hour to assess the situation. We discussed and agreed on an action plan. Will really took the time to explain everything and truly look at the issue without being dismissive or patronizing. He is friendly and super approachable and the consummate professional. His and his wife's entire calm and patient demeanor put me at ease that they both knew what they were doing and were empathetic to our panic at the entire situation. Due to insurance reasons, I could only hire him initially for emergency services to quickly patch and prevent more harm/damage while the insurance adjuster was being assigned to my claim and performed their assessment. He went to prepare right away, we got a quote pretty quickly and accepted his help. The weather kept him from actually doing any work that same day (started raining and lightning) so he offered to comeback the next day to fix the issue. He arrived on time with all his equipment. He was respectful of the entire property he was in and working on. He talk through all the safety precautions he would take without any hesitation when I asked him, demonstrating his experience and knowledge of these types of roofs (think steep slope and slippery slate). The patch repairs looked clean and presentable even though it was just meant to be temporary. I thought they charged a fair price/hour for the emergency service as well as for the transport. I never felt bullied, pushed over, or upsold on anything. He gave us copies of his workman's comp and insurance prior to starting. He communicated so well throughout the ENTIRE experience. His team was quick to provide contracts and invoices. He took lots of pictures throughout his work and sent them to me afterwards. He even went above and beyond his responsibilities because while he was up there, helped me get rid of a piece of slate in my gutter I just happened to mention off hand that was bothering me when we assess the roof. He just offered and did it! As for the actual repair, he fixed some areas of broken slate shingles, put a nice new metal cap on top of the (out of use) chimney, and installed a brand new copper gutter for me. The metal cap was secured fully with bolts and it looked extremely neat and tidy. He took plenty of before and after photographs for me so I could see the progress and the changes. This was important to me so that I could follow along. Along that line, his communication was just superb. He was immensely polite and professional. He made sure to notify me when he was on the way and also at the end of the day when he was done. He updated me frequently on progress and next steps and he listened to my concerns and we had a discussion about the roof repair instead of him just doing whatever he wanted. My only critique was that overall, it took him longer than he originally stated. However, he did a fantastic job and everything looked really nicely done. I am extremely happy with the outcome. I wholeheartedly recommend him to others and would be thrilled to see his business grow.

They also cut the refrigeration line to my air conditioner unit which I had to pay $2000 to get it fixed. I've been patient and given them plenty of time to address this and they'd come up with one excuse after another. It's been a waste of time and effort dealing with them. My next step is to take them to court. This is insanely annoying! I'm also surprised they showed pics of my roof on here. It's a Mickey Mouse job. The whole deck is crooked and was not done correctly. They obviously did not use any form of measurements when cutting the wood!

Dana, the foreman, talked with me each morning to fill me in on the plan for the day and answer any questions I had about the work. He was even helpful (and patient) with me when I had to delay the finish of the porch because we ordered a hot tub that hadn't yet arrived. They completed as much as they could without the hot tub in place, then came back to do the finishing touches after the install. They were respectful of my property and cleaned up at the end of every day - which is a huge plus for me!! We get constant compliments on both projects! I was in the middle of gathering quotes to re-do my deck, and their quote was the lowest. We were extremely disappointed with the work. It does not look good at all and our friends and family constantly criticize it for poor craftsmanship. Main Issues -Boards are extremely uneven. Some are so close together that water does not drain and it warps the boards. Some were extremely far apart and we had them come back to fix the boards. Very uncomfortable walking barefoot because of the poor craftsmanship. -Terrible paint work. He did not paint the boards through and there's missing paint throughout the deck. They only did one coat and it's already chipping off after one year. They painted on a day with a rain forecast and it poured within 6 hours of them painting the deck. They should have done it on another day, since paint should have at least a day to dry. -They didn't do any paint prep, so they sprayed white paint all over our house, pool pump, and the gas meter. -Nails and screws are sticking out and it's extremely unsafe. They did not put wood fillers over holes even though we requested it, and the pictures speak for themselves. -They ran out of screws and began using nails on my deck to hold down the boards, which is not sustainable and will need to be replaced. We live less than 5 minutes from Home Depot. Lack of attention to detail and consideration for doing the job right. -He did not remove any of the old wooden boards that he replaced even though he said he was going to do that and it was listed in the quote. We were extremely unsatisfied with the work and requested John to come back. It took over a month for him to come back and fix up the deck. He was clearly in a rush and did a very poor job fixing the errors associated with the deck. We brought up 8+ issues and he only addressed a couple of them. The biggest eyesore is the holes from the screws. I purchased wood filler and he said he would fill in holes, sand, and paint over them. He never did. He knew he did a poor job and he left without doing a final walkthrough the second time around. He also didn't seal any of the paint cans before he left. Very unhappy with the deck and it will cost thousands for us to fix it.
