I had 4, old metal basement windows replaced. They didn't saw out the metal frames, like the job is…read moreusually approached; they hacked them out with hammers and chisels, making a "mini-mountain range" of a mess of all the cement sills. The windows were so poorly installed, that more outside air came in than with the old ones. There were gaps between the windows and the foundation of more than 4 inches! They attempted to correct all of this with Great Stuff spray foam---everywhere! The also couldn't even make a wooden frame w/actual 90 degree corners. Each of the 4 windows looked like it was done by a different person. No two were left in the same "finished" condition. On one, no attempt at all was made to finish it. They ordered the wrong window for the dryer vent. They wanted to drill a hole in my foundation instead! (You do NOT do it that way, ever!) Then, they went hunting for a place for the vent, using a 1,25" bit, and drilling straight through the foundation sill. Luckily, I caught them after their first failed attempt. I had the correct-sized dowel to fill the hole, they did not---more Great Stuff? They didn't even have an 1/8" plumber's bit to "hunt" with. I had to give that them that, too! Just measuring would have been a good idea, for starters. They didn't protect anything; left everything in my entire basement wood-shop covered in cement dust---days and days of work to clean it all. In the end, I paid someone $700 (he gave me a big break---out of pity) to fix them as much as possible. He had to do cement work, carpentry, and finish carpentry. At least now, no outside air comes in. Mr. Serpa will talk really quickly and confidently to try to steamroll you into thinking his resolution is valid, when it's quite definitely not. I dread to think of things they may have done had I not been home and watching them, because even that didn't help me! He DID offer, immediately, to send someone to "fix" it. The people who already proved they didn't know how to do it correctly in the first place, are NOT the people who should be allowed to "fix" it, right? I declined. He feels he did nothing wrong. He even brought his town building inspector "pal" to see them after I complained. They came unannounced onto to my property w/o permission. He knew they looked nice from outside, and that was all he planned for the inspector to see. He doesn't realize that the HOMEOWNER oversees a second opinion, not the contractor. The inspector compromised his position by doing it, making anything he said completely invalid. Have had lots of big projects done in the last year. This was the last and smallest of them. Turned out to be the only one that I chose the wrong person to do. BTW, I used to work w/a home improvement Master Builder. I wish I could include pics of that person's bsmt window replacement jobs alongside mine.

It gave me nothing but issues. Corey came out about a half dozen times over the years to patch the roof. He inspected my attic and determined the last contractor didn't flash the chimney correctly which led to leaks. He helped me when there was ice buildup on a bay window roof. He fixed it all. When it was time for a new roof and gutter system, Corey's quote was competitive with other roofers, so it was an obvious choice going with him. He's easy to email or text and I've referred him multiple times to friends. I love that he's a Rhode Islander and stands by his work.

They were quick to come out and were very kind in assessing the work and offered a fair quote. I liked how they itemized everything and felt they were reputable and trustworthy. I called Corey Ferschhke and we discussed details of scheduling and set the date for work to be done. Two weeks from today. We took the time off work to be available and make sure the work went smoothly. We informed our real estate agent the work was planned and she can move forward with plans. 3 days prior to work, we started to become nervous. We hadn't heard from them for confirmation or anything for 11 days. We decided to call and confirm. -Left a voicemail, no reply. -Next day, 2 days before work start, call, no reply. Text message, no reply. -Called 1 day before work start, a woman answered and told me someone would call back. No one called back. -On the day of start, I knew Ferschke Construction burned us. We had not heard from them for 2 weeks and work was supposed to start early tomorrow morning. That night, at 8:20, less than 12 hours from work time, we get a text message from a random number saying they won't be able to come as planned tomorrow but Monday the'll do the work....uh...what? I work Monday. The first thought in my mind was how much money we had just lost by trusting Ferschke Construction. Money we couldn't afford to lose. Of course we got some hollow text message apology, but does that make up for the lost wages, waste of 2 weeks, and disrespect? Insulting. This was particularly upsetting because initially they seemed like normal, honest people. As homeowners, you develop acute sense of who not to trust and who to stay far away from. But these guys pulled a fast one on my family in the 9th inning and expressed no interest in making it right. My family and I were left worse off by trusting Ferschke Construction. As part of the standard Cooks work list they stripped off 2 + layers, applied plywood sheathing, winter guard underlayment on top of roofing underlayment, installed ridge vent & soffit air vents. The crew was responsive and respectful of my requests, clean up was great not a single nail found afterwards.

We called a number of roofers who immediately said- yes, you need a new roof. Thank God we had Cook come to check. Yes - Cook told that he would need to do a new roof NOT because the roof was bad, but because we had a problem with not enough venting and soffit vents, etc. That is why we had moisture trapped in the attic. Cook explained that if the roof was less than 5 years old, then he could just do all the venting, but the only way he could guarantee all of his work ( on a 20 year old existing roof ) was to replace the roof AND do proper venting. We are so glad we did, as none of the other roofers mentioned anything about venting being the real problem.
