I usually love bar tacos but this experience was terrible. The wait staff was not organized, they were all over the place and all super young. All our tacos and food was cold and super spicy (even if it didn't have a heat symbol next to it). It's like the kitchen cranked up the notch on heat on everything, it was inedible. Then we had a toddler with us, it took them over 30 min later to bring out her food (after we asked them 3 times) and it came out burnt. It wasn't even a weekend day so the service/our experience shouldn't have been like this. We were all very disappointed. read more

Love this place! We have been many times in Tampa, but we were skeptical if this new location would be as good. It rocks! The spicy marg is just so good. Expensive as heck for a tiny drink but worth it for the taste. The salsa/guac trio is awesome - definitely start with this.the pork belly taco is our favorite this last time. I'm previous visits we love the steak taco, but it was quite bland this visit. We'll try again. The chili lime shrimp is delicious. Next time I'll probably order multiple pork belly because it's that good. Service is quick and friendly. We'll be back soon! read more

My daughter loves this place so when we were down in Birkdale, I said let's go get some takeout from them. First off I walk into the place and the design and environment is so inviting whoever did the design of everything in this restaurant went all out it has such a great feel you step in and you're not at the Birkdale shopping. You're just in some other world. We got the Street corn off the cob (esquites) and an order of tres leche. We Walked right up to the takeout area placed the order, they very friendly efficient. And it was very busy in the restaurant. Tge tres Leche comes in this cute little glass jar and it's the best tres leche I have ever had. Some tree Leche is just too sweet, and this was just the perfect texture and sweetness . The street corn so fresh simple tasty not heavy we loved it. I wish I took pictures of our food but we dug in immediately and it was gone before we could take a snap. Next time! read more

Extra small taco's all with the same spice and flavor. Margaritas had a hint of heat but it wasn't a pleasant spice but more of a coverup spice so you couldn't really enjoy it. Didn't give it a 1 star because the architecture is pleasant to look at. Would not recommend. read more

Went here to enjoy a nice dinner date. The food the was great got 3 different tacos. The drink was below average. Espresso martini and it tasted like cheap vodka and watered down. Lastly the service was not great. Our server came up to us once and then never returned. She never asked if I wanted a second drink, more tacos or just checking in. We had to ask someone else for our check and still our server never came back. Would have been a nice night if it weren't for the terrible server:( read more

We've been there quite a few times now and they never disappoint. We've officially have had every taco on the menu and a few of the sides such as the Mexican street corn and the quac and salsa trio. Nice addition to Birkdale! We were hoping to sit outside as they have a beautiful outdoor area but it was cold and windy so we will leave that for another visit. We went on Friday evening and got on the waitlist on the app. Even though you do that you need to let the hostess know once you arrive (before they text you). This was not clear on the app so I am glad we did that instead of just walking around waiting! We waited at the bar and had some wonderful margaritas. The drinks were fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the Oaxacan Sunshine with the chia seeds! We were seated and versed on the order system. Service was pretty scarce as you place your own order and pay with a QR code...the only thing we asked a human for was extra chips (the initial serving was not enough for the trio of salsas/guacamole) and that did not arrive until we asked twice. Food came out at all different intervals but the tacos were good..enjoyed the pork belly more than the fish (would be better if not fried). In the future I will revisit for drinks and apps and go elsewhere for a dinner out...it felt very fast food like with everyone getting their food and eating at different times and dealing with the app to get anything additional. 18% is added to everything...even with the lack of service. Birkdale Village Huntersville, NC A big rip-off!! First and last visit here. I went for lunch. Nice vibe, okay service. The gazpacho was terrible. It tasted like a bowl of tomato sauce with a few zucchini pieces, no other vegetables and covered with croutons. Only one of the three tacos had sufficient fillings. That's why I gave it a 1 star. The chilled lobster taco was delicious. The shrimp taco had 3 tiny shrimp and a spicy sauce and three pieces of cilantro. It was a joke. The warm lobster taco was tasty but barely a bite of lobster. With tip, $24.00. And I had a small glass of water, so no drink charge. I've enjoyed many "small plate" venues, but this is a taco restaurant. I eat out often, and was excited to have a new restaurant at Birkdale Village, but this was so very disappointing. read more

The food never disappoints (don't miss the street corn which is delicious on everything, including the kale salad!) Be sure to sit at the bar and ask for Jaquan, because he is the best! Outdoor table was gritty and dirty; tacos for two people served at two different times; soup was not served until 15 minutes later(after asking again) and was only slightly warm at best. A man of labor and locomotion requires a meal. Not a Mexican tea sandwich. When he picks up that silver tray every vein in his forearm should be bulging through his angelic white skin. His bicep should be flexed as he uses every ounce of strength to lift his dinner. When a man walks out that door his carnivorous desires should be fully satisfied. This is not the case at bar taco. We'll be sticking to the bojangles 4pc chicken sumpreme combo from here on out. But if this establishment can get an increased circumference on the tortilla and stuff some more meat in there, we can renegotiate. read more

Absolutely awful experience, and no acknowledgement from the manager whatsoever. The Pros: The food and drinks were very good, and the service at the bar while we were waiting for our table was good The Cons: I have been to 3+ Bartaco locations and this one has a LOT of kinks to work out before they measure up to the other locations. We were a group of 10, we ordered by filling out the paper menus (as opposed to QR code) and were told to put our names at the top of our paper menus so they could bring the food out to the right person. That did not work whatsoever. They brought food out and said a name that was not associated with that specific order many, many times. We ended up just having them drop most of the food off and we figured out where it was supposed to go. Very frustrating when we had followed the instructions to put our names on the paper tickets. Even at a restaurant where they do "seat numbers" they get it right.. this Bartaco really missed the mark. Our food came out over the course of about 20+ minutes, so some people were completely done eating before the others even got their food. While eating, our service was abysmal. We had to flag down our server for drinks twice, and both times she took 1-2 orders and then ran off, leaving our other guests empty on drinks repeatedly. When we finished our meals, we sat with empty plates stacked on the table for 10 minutes with 5-6 people cleaning tables around us, standing around talking, no one offering to clear our table or ask if we need anything else before checks. I flagged down the manager after about 15 mins and mentioned we had been done for awhile and were ready to close out. If then took FORTY MINUTES for them to separate our checks into 4 checks. Not individual, 4 checks. Everyone's ticket had a name on it and they asked which names were together. To separate them it took FORTY minutes, and no acknowledgement or apology from the manager whatsoever. He saw us, he saw the frustration, and chose to walk right past. After all of that, the checks still came out wrong. We ended up just sending each other money via Venmo/cash to make up for it. Bartaco Huntersville - you've got some work to do. And at the very least, when you mess up, acknowledge it. Do better read more

Got to say this place was fire. As a native Texan I have high taco standards, Bar Taco didn't disappoint. The trio chips and salsa/guacamole was solid, nice salsa flavors. The oyster, fish and shrimp tacos were very good. Chicken was my fav. Ribeye was just ok. The manager was a stud. Atmosphere was fantastic. Location couldn't be better...unless it was in The Bowl make to sure hit this place if ur in Birkdale. read more

Who knows if this place is good, because it's a miracle if they choose to seat you! Went in at 7:30(no reservations) and they told us that a party of 2 would be a 3.5 hour wait! We thought, "okay, not ideal. But it is Saturday rush for dinner". So we keep walking and we see the open patio and doors into the dining area. We were shocked to see half of the restaurant empty! They just weren't letting anyone else in. So we thought, " okay, maybe they're short staffed". But get this, 3 waiters were standing in the outside area doing nothing for a solid 10 minutes while we tried to figure out where to eat. They were just talking to each other and singing the music out loud while the hostess was turning away group after group. Terribly managed and unfortunate for birkdale, they could've done great here. The place is very well decorated with a fun baja feel. The ordering is either on your phone or by a paper order where you can mark which tacos or bowls you want. The food is pretty good--think tacos as tapas. Small two bite portions. The service is fine--but designed to be impersonal. They suggest you order off your phone. That's sort of a bummer way to kick off an experience. We had a party of five--everyone's order came out at different times. One person at a time. That also added to making it a poor experience. I was anticipating my second visit to Bartaco. I went once before with my brother and sister and we were all happy with the ambiance and service and the food. This visit did not deliver like the first time. It was as though corporate training had left, and management and kitchen just isn't ready to keep the quality where it should be. Service and ambiance is still great but the food is not anything I would look forward to return for. In fact my family all agreed that next lunch and movie at Birkdale we will eat somewhere else. Soft shell crab taco and oyster taco (both so good on initial visit) are gone from the menu. This visit tacos, tuna tatami and sesame rib steak, both were dry and overcooked. This is my second time here and I am less than impressed. Both times the online ordering has not worked and service is slow. The tacos are about the size your palm for $4!! And they are subpar at best and very oddly spicy. Their pricing could be justified if they were a full service restaurant but they are not close to that. My best friend and I had dinner here on a Monday night around 6:30-7. We sat at the bar. We were completely ignored. The couple next to us sat down about 5 minutes after us and had their drinks and food before we were even given water. Finally, the manager came out of the kitchen and got us water and took our order. As it is required, he took our credit cards to start the tab for our orders and then mixed them up. So when we went to pay, it was incorrect. The bartender who printed the receipt was extremely condescending and told us it wasn't a big deal since it was only a dollar or two off. I have been here a few times now and had a good experience at a regular table with the staff. I went recently and sat at the bar with friends and it was not the same experience! The bartenders didn't acknowledge us at all, and when I finally got one of their attention, he was really rude. Can't really comment on food outside of trips at other locations. Have attempted to dine there on four separate occasions without luck. Each time there are empty tables, however, told 30-45 minute wait. Finally asked why such a long wait with tables clearly open. Response received "we want the best experience for each customer". I was pleasantly surprised with Bartaco. I am full blooded Mexican from Southern California, and I know good Mexican food. To my surprise, I was told Bartaco is a fusion of Mexican and Asian cuisine. I was still cautious on how good it would be. The Guacamole tasted better than it looked, and the two steak tacos were really good. I got a tiny Kale Caesar salad which was also great. The spicy margarita was fantastic and all freshly made. The vibe and atmosphere made me feel like I was in a restaurant in NYC or LA. Was a very cool place to eat at. Prices are a tiny bit on the higher side, but definitely worth it. I don't mind paying if the food is that good. Lexi and Matthew attended my visit at the bar and were really kind and very helpful. I have one tiny critique and one small critique. Tiny critique-I didn't like having to write my order on a food list provided. It was simple, but I would rather just tell a server my food order. My small critique is the food presentation. It was a little lackluster and didn't match how great everything else was. Felt that there could be more effort put into the presentation. I would give Bartaco an overall 4.5, but yelp wont let me give a half a star. read more
