Justin greeted me and informed me that a new model was not on the floor that particular day but he took me in the back of the shop where his guys were preparing a new Nighterster that was just purchased from another customer. He didn't have to do that. He took the time to show me all the features of the bike, answered all my question and didn't rush me or press me at all. We went back to his office and discussed some numbers which were very good, actually. He kept in touch with me and I felt very comfortable with him and Bartels. Positive: There are old school cars in the underground parking lot that were cool to look at- one was for-sale. A good selection of merchandise/clothes for sale in the store. Negative: Good luck on finding available parking. I had to park underground blocking one of the several trailers in the underground lot. Instead of addressing the issues, Bartels chose to insult me--calling me "narcissistic" and "manipulative." That says plenty about how they handle customers. Here are the facts: * Paid \~\$24.5k cash + \$3.5k trade-in (worth closer to \$5k). Not "at cost!." * Within 30 miles, the bike leaked oil from an O-ring. I had to push for them to pick it up, then still got billed $70 for a stripped bolt. * 1,000-mile service: $661 vs. $350-450 elsewhere. No itemized receipt, oil still low, and I had to push for a $4 HOG discount. Shameful * Denied a \$20 Uber credit,wanted to charge \$330+tax for a relay install. * Sales side: denied 15% parts discount, told I "stole the bike." And no--it's not about small discounts. It's about how you treat people AFTER taking their money. You sold me a bike when no one else was buying to make your numbers. If I'm really the problem, return my money and take your bike back, since youre such a positive winner! No? Okay then. I love my Harley. This is the best HD dealership that I have ever dealt with. After buying a 2024 Fatboy at another dealership last year.....that ended with a truck hitting me and totaling the bike. I was planning on going back to the other dealership again but they started dicking me around. I called over to Bartels and spoke with Jamie in sales. OK...I hate going to purchase a new bike or car because I am not a huge fan of the whole sales process and getting the up-sold and other bullshit. BUT...BUT...BUT..not here!!! Jamie was unbelievable and he was not talking shit, just facts and he did everything in his power to get me the exact bike that I want at the exact price that I wanted to pay. This extremely kind, knowledgeable person was the best sales person that I have ever experienced. A huge shout out to Don in finance for being freaking awesome and taking my money with a smile!! This review is for the one and only experience I had with their service department about 15 years ago (long before I used Yelp). I had taken in a heavily customized 1987 Sportster that had been converted into a replica 1957 model; it had been previously used by Saddlemen Seats as a show bike. It had developed problems starting and stalling out. I had initially had it serviced at Glendale Harley upon purchase, but my experience there was not ideal, so I thought I would try Bartels. After having the bike for two days, the assistant service manager explained to me how difficult it was to determine the problem and how it could be fixed. I have very little mechanical knowledge -- I mostly stick to polishing and riding -- but I knew enough to understand that he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and what he was saying was completely wrong. I took it out of there as fast as I could and never returned. Around that time I also had a bad experience with their used motorcycle sales department. The older guy with whom I dealt was extremely cagey on the telephone when I inquired about their stock, and was even oilier when I came to view the showroom. Everything he said seemed calculated to eliminate any confidence I might have in him or the integrity of the dealership. Hopefully, they have improved by now as I see there are mostly positive reviews. But they do not post any responses to bad reviews, which certainly does not suggest that they have the desire to try to mend broken relationships or accommodate customers whom they have wronged. read more

Update as of 11/20/24 - my tail lights were repaired but are now melting again. Had to upgrade to LED's but seems to have fixed the issue. 5 stars as this isn't a dealer issue - it's a Harley Davidson issue where they push out bad parts and slowly. FYI most soft tails will have a break switch issue that causes the tail light covers to melt due to the break lights staying on. read more

In the past, I have used Bartels Harley Davidson for parts and some service years ago recently, I had my Dyna worked on there an 01 FXDX went to a couple of other well-known shops. I don't want them mentioning they wanted $200 more to do the rear engine mount not only did they do that for cheaper. They came all the way from where they are and Marina del Rey to Burbank, Cal. To pick my bike up they did have it for about 2 1/2 weeks was not a big deal. I didn't need it back anyway, but they brought it back without a problem and we're very professional about talking to me on the phone about what they were doing. Keep in mind that they have a race team that has been very well planted for years and I feel they know their stuff And we talked about other things on the motorcycle that other people probably would not know so they are knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend though I have been to three other shops with another motorcycle that I have bought to fix the carburetor. Nobody has been able to fix it. I wish I would have went there first not too many people work on carbureted bikes anymore check them out I think you will be happy. I give them a thumbs up. read more

"Joe" was my guy, he's the best ... but it was a truly a TEAM and family effort for sure. They make you feel at home and like family - was an excellent buying experience. Lots of attention, lots of follow up - all above board, honest good guys, the contract team was great, best selection, and excellent after the sale check ins. TL;DR at bottom. Bartels' Harley-Davidson holds a very special place in my heart. I can say I spent a good amount of my childhood here in the 90's around the Bartels' family and staff when the dealership was just a small building and a driveway where my mother served up meals from her catering truck. Fast forward about 25 years later, I returned to Bartels' to buy my first new Harley-Davidson. I traded in my 2017 Softail Slim which I didn't buy at Bartels', much to my mom's chagrin. I felt like family when I showed up and was introduced to Colton Bartels, Ron Bartels, his brother (forgot his name sorry!) and of course Jose "Joe" the most straight up dude you'll ever meet. My dream bike wasn't in stock anywhere and i credit the team that put forth the great effort to source a local one. We ended up settling on a reserve order but man, Joe was the most communicable sales rep I've ever worked with. He kept me updated along the entire summer-long wait for my sled to arrive from Milwaukee. When Joe finally gave me that long-awaited call, it sank in that Joe just made a dream of mine materialize at the right time! I got to the dealership as soon as possible, title and spare keys in hand, ready to wheel and deal. Joe walked me right up to my soon-to-be-mine 2022 Road King Special. Ron and Joe are just as excited as I am, like it was some homecoming meant to be, 25+ years in the making. Maritza from finance was an absolute professional and equally as friendly as Joe and the nice lady who gave us those super delicious home made cookies. Maritza made the finance part of the deal such a breeze and not some dry deal like Toyota of Whittier. I swear, this place knows how to get the best staff to come out and talk. I didn't come to buy. But a couple of my friends wanted to swing by to window shop. They REALLY want to buy Harleys and they're starting to do their research on which one they would like. I think they're going through their midlife crisis. Which means they will definitely buy themselves bikes for sure! Honestly, I've had a horrible experience here, I tried taking a class here and missed my original weekend to take the class because I was sick and was being courtesy as not to get others sick. I called to let them know I was sick and was supposed to be rescheduled, and I was told I would be contacted back. Since then, I've called two more times to ask if I could be rescheduled, and like before they gave the same answer, I would be contacted back. Now over a month and a half later, I've lost all interest in trying to go through these people I called to get a refund for a service that they didn't provide and all they are able to give is a partial refund.
