I absolutely love this little place. It's a nice hometown cafe.. Great food lightning fast. The concept works great. You walk in, pick up a menu and then walk to the counter with your selections, you pay, grab your drink, and you order is brought out so quick. EVERYTHING I've ordered has been wonderful. It is definitely more of a breakfast place but they have lunch items as well. They are usually only open until 2pm. You will love this place. It's perfect for brunch on a Saturday or Sunday Morning. It's great for families or to meet friends. It's very clean and the service is wonderful even with the self service feel this little place brings. They host special events and have an area to have a get together of your own. This place has a piano and at any given time someone could be playing a tune for the crowd to enjoy! We love finding out of the way places on yelp and this was a winner. I had the blueberry French toast with lemon sauce and my husband had the grilled cheese with spinach, feta, tomato on delicious bread. We saw people walking out with homemade pies in dishes they would return. We couldn't resist the cookies for the road. The owners were very welcoming. Staff opened door late for breakfast and were not welcoming. We had no idea if they had a waitress or if you needed to go to counter to order. After 5 minutes we decided to go someplace else. The place seemed very strange maybe the food is great but for new customers it's not inviting. read more

It is very unusual, in my experience, to find a restaurant with so many 5 star reviews so when my boyfriend and I were going to Spring Green last week we visited this cafe right off of Hwy 14. I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. I had the pulled pork sliders, kimchi potato salad and beet salad. All were incredibly well prepared, delicious and all for under $6! My boyfriend had a wonderful spinach and feta omelette with a beautiful pile of crispy looking hash browns. Though pretty stuffed, we next ordered the bread pudding with rum sauce and vanilla ice cream. Once again the quality was outstanding. I live in Seattle and so far nothing I have had there compares to the food at this cafe in a tiny town in Wisconsin! read more

Good food and friendly people. The omelettes were very good. The town is an interesting stop. The restaurant is in an old building which is very spacious and comfortable. It's a great place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch and linger over a cup or coffee or glass of wine. This is a really cute place in downtown Mazomanie, WI. I have been there about 4 times since it is near where I live and work. Unfortunately 2 of the times have not been a good experience so I won't be going back. This place closes at 2PM. I was sitting there at 1:55 and the lady came up to me and said "it's time to go home". Who does that?? Usually places quit serving at the closing time but you are allowed to finish up while they clean up. I found myself there again yesterday when the other restaurant in town was closed. Ordered French toast. It was so hard I could have broke a window with it. Clearly it had been overmicrowaved. I took it back to the counter and showed the lady that I couldn't even get my fork through it. The lady showed absolutely no concern and asked if I wanted something else. Not really...... No apology or any indication of surprise at the horrible product I was served. And to top it off there are notes at each table telling the patrons to bus their own table after eating. read more

I live on the near east side of Madison and felt right at home. I did not expect the decor of a little cafe in little Mazo to be so modern, industrial, eclectic and groovy- from purple ceiling to wood floor- and you really should check out the bathrooms! I also did not expect such a well rounded and health conscious menu. Among most honorable mention I could choose between buttermilk, chocolate chip, blueberry or trail mix pancakes. I went with one of two quiche options- the spinach, onion and bacon option- with bacon and served with fresh fruit. It was tough to choose over the variety of sandwiches and burgers but you can't go wrong here. What we ordered was delicious and prepared perfectly for my entire party. I was grateful for the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cook, Daniel. It was Daniel's sixteenth birthday and the first day he could cook (and he did a great job!) He also brought our dishes out and was very friendly, eager and accommodating by giving me a tour of the back room where recreational activities are held. Base Camp Cafe is fabulous, fun and friendly. Mom and I were treated to free veggies - the day's selection was a beet salad, sprinkled with feta cheese. We followed our veggie treat with dessert - bread pudding with rum sauce, topped with butter pecan ice cream. A definite 5-Star experience. read more
