We tried Base Crave for the first time this week. It was fantastic! It was (and still is) COVID-19 season, so we did "Curbside Pickup", as the dining room was closed. Pander momo were very good. Highly recommend. Calamari was bad. We trashed it because it smelled too fishy. A little disappointed because it was their suggestion! Lamb mushroom was good but not much lamb. Spice level 6 was just right. Shrimp mushroom stir fry was good. Mild in spice but flavorful. Chicken stir fry noodles were good - maybe a little greasy - and again not much protein. My kids liked it. My bill should have been 83$ and I was charged 94$. I'm not sure how this happened... Overall a nice change from the usual but a little expensive. read more

Had an absolutely delicious meal at Melting Pot last night. And it is also a gluten-free person's dream. 95% of the menu is gluten free. The menu items are clearly marked with a GF, and the kitchen takes special care. Our table had the lamb and mushroom curry, the goat special, and the chicken & mushroom curry. And the non-gluten-free eaters had the Mo Mo's - beautifully created homemade dumplings - in chicken and paneer & spinach. They were amazing ! The staff and owners couldn't be more friendly and warm. We had a wonderful meal at Base Crave! There were eight of us and people ordered different dishes, and everyone said the food was good. The chicken momos were a favorite appetizer together with the veggie samosas and garlic naan bread. The main dishes were different from a standard Indian restaurant and very nicely spiced (you decide how spicy hot on a scale from 0-10, and they came out pretty much as people expected; one dish we ordered with a heat rating of 0 came exactly like that and was said to be very good). Fresh ingredients, served with veggies and rice in decent-sized portions. The chicken-mushroom chili dish was very flavorful!! We were celebrating a birthday so brought our own cake, which they brought to the table with candles lit, so did not try their desserts. Limited but good selection of wine and beer, no cocktails (not an issue for us), and various delicious fruit lassis (mango, strawberry, etc.) which were great for those who were not drinking alcohol. The young man who served us struggled a bit with English but was friendly and courteous and service was good. The place is relaxed, unpretentious but comfortable, and there was background Nepalese (I assume) music, but not loud enough to interfere with conversation. It was quite popular on the Friday evening we came. Prices are quite reasonable, but one suggestion for management would be to adjust prices up by 20% rather than having a 20% service charge AND a place for additional tip, as that might rub some customers the wrong way, especially if the 20% mandatory service charge is added to carry out orders, as someone said it is. There is on-street parking nearby. Overall we had a very pleasant experience, the food was delicious, the prices reasonable, the service was good, and we will definitely be back! read more

Most of the dishes we ordered (especially the chicken and mushroom chili) were good, except the sweet potato chhoila, which I did not enjoy. That said, I probably won't go back, mostly because many other restaurants have equally tasty food but are much less pricey. My wife and I went looking for the reasonably reliable yet quirky Full Moon and stumbled upon the successor in the Huron Ave space. Base Crave brought together the very best Nepali food this side of Katmandou by a family of kind and welcoming hosts. We chose a selection of dishes including the savory and layered flavors of the Gundruk soup followed by the vegetarian noodles, vegetable momos and lamb momo curry - enough rib sticking food for two meals. I've gone here twice now, as it is right down the street from my house. The service is great, and it is in a convenient location. I went with some of my family and all of the people working there were so nice! A family owned restaurant, and has a great vibe. They were efficient and kind. We started off with the Chicken and Paneer & Spinach Mo Mos and the Sweet Potato Chhoila. So good!!! The Mango Lassis there are to die for! They are amazing! I've gotten the Stir Fry Noodles and the Cashew Haddock Curry and both were absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend. It is such a great place! read more

BEST take out we've had in a LONGGGGG time. We've ordered from here before and it was very good then but this time it was outstanding. Vegan mushroom chili dish was excellent. The bean and mushroom curry was delicious. Basil thyme lamb was incredible. All dishes had a crispy assortment of fresh vegetables. If you have any idea about Nepali food, you're probably interested in the momos. The momos here are P-H-E-N-O-M-E-N-A-L. Arguably one of the best Nepali places in town. First, the lentil soup is more like liquid gold. So amazingly flavorful and light. There is not a long wait and the food is served nice and hot. You can choose the level of spice quite easily. Ordered through Uber Eats after reading the Globe review. 2 soups, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees with naan cost $93 after coupon. Food was good, but not great - veggie momos were especially bland. Later discovered that the prices on the menu were considerably higher when ordering through Uber Eats, over and above the service/delivery fees that one usually expects to pay for delivery. Great new place that has opened up in Cambridge. Of Nepali origins, the food is really fresh, well-made and in some cases organic (will say on menu), and great for vegans. This is the one place we've been going to as we've been hunkered down during the pandemic - knowing that they are taking the various safeguards. Also it is family-owned, which is great, and unfortunately had its opening right before our city shut down. We love the veg momos, mushroom chilis, tofu curry and they have this amazing sweet potato dish. You should definitely give it a try. read more

Loved the mo-mo s and the jackfruit curry dish. I am not a vegetarian by any means but have gotten that twice. The spicing is just right on everything. This place is amazing!! It just popped up on places near me, and what a gem! We got Paneer and Spinach Momo, (which was fantastic and arrived piping hot!), lamb and mushroom curry (that was flavorful without being too heavy), and chicken chhoila (I had no idea what this dish was but it was a house speciality - it's light citrusy chicken cooked in small bits so it's super flavorful.
