Was searching for a small business to support that will also satisfy my caffeine cravings. Stayed over in Suncadia and this coffee shop popped up in my list. The shop is cute and staff were welcoming. They have sugar free syrups so that was a win for me already. Got the 16oz sugarfree vanilla latte and the salmon toast. The latte hit the spot. It was just the right temperature & right amount of espresso to milk. The salmon toast was filling for the most part but nothing I would want to order again. Overall this shop has Knick knacks for camping & hiking. I would love to stop by again when I'm nearby to check it out. read more

Best restaurant in the area. The restaurant downstairs is very cozy with great drink choices. The food is consistently delicious no matter what you order and they update their menu regularly with fresh options. Bonus points for really good vegetarian and vegan options. Kids loved the toy selection, kids books and large grassy Yard area to play and run around. We liked the coffee, and fresh baked cookies. We missed out on the cinnamon rolls, which are apparently huge and very good as they tend to sell out. We will be sure to stop here again on our way over the pass. read more

This was an accidental find ;) neat little place. I've ordered tomato soup, salmon toast on dill spread (delicious) and iced breve. The owner was nice & told me that there's another location of the same cafe. Food was prepared quickly. Meanwhile I roamed around the shop browsing books & other curiosities. Base camp is a fantastic restaurant! I wish they catered because they're so good! However, sometimes the best things come in small packages. I think what I love most is that I can get a latte at 7 o clock at night and they don't give me a hard time about it. The wait staff are diverse and friendly, it's always a treat to chat with them. Basecamp is a wonderful place, but it's an even better place to meet some fascinating people! The book store is great, they have a wide variety of useful and educational items for purchase. From Pet First Aid Kits to books on Mushroom Identification! They even have vegan options, which can be difficult to find outside the Seattle area. This bookstore/cafe/bar is adorable AND yummy! My friend and I were staying at Suncadia and came into town for brunch. We both had the avocado toast which was very good. We ate downstairs in the bar area (Id imagine a fun vibe for drinks) but there were also spots upstairs amongst the books and a whole grassy outdoor space! Such a charming place in Roslyn! I visited Roslyn in the late afternoon and made it just in time for happy hour here. I wouldn't have known there was happy hour at a bookstore either, if it had not been for the sign out front of the place. Although the happy hour menu is small, with only a handful of food items and drinks, the selection was solid for a light meal or snack, all for six bucks. I decided to get a grilled cheese sandwich, after learning they use Beechers cheese! And added avocado and ham with it, for additional costs. It didn't take too long to get my food, and was pleasantly surprised that it also came with a spring mix salad, which was a nice addition to the sandwich. For a drink, I had a cold brew, as they use local Blue Star Coffee. The grilled cheese sandwich was so yummy and better than I expected! You can tell they use quality ingredients here, from the bread to the vinaigrette on the salad. Everything was superb, and especially was glad to get it for happy hour pricing! They not only have a full food and bar menu, but the bookstore itself is lovely. The selection isn't large, but the collection they have here is wonderful. They have a lot of information on trails, hiking, nearby attractions and even stories of the wilderness, animals, etc...It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Plus, if you have time to relax, they have a huge yard area right next to it, which is specifically for the public to hang out in, with an outdoor fire pit, little library, and bean bag toss lawn games set up! The only negative is that dogs are not allowed here; but fortunately, we were able to eat outside on the patio tables and chairs right by the entrance and the staff even asked if they could provide a water bowl for my dog. This is my new favorite place in Roslyn, and encourage anyone to check it out when you're visiting this lovely town. read more

Such a cute little cafe! We stopped in during our first visit to Roslyn to check out the books. Although we didn't eat or get coffee, the coffee and food smelled amazing. There was a pretty good selection of books, and they had local trail guides too. The only downside was that it was pretty crowded on Saturday afternoon, making it a bit difficult to peruse the the books. I must eat a GF diet and Basecamp can meet that need. Their hamburgers are fine (served on a pretty good GF bread) plus their service is generally good. Only suggestion - unless you want to play trivia, avoid Wednesday evenings. If you do not get there early, you are relegated to the picnic tables in the green space and there the service moves at its own pace. read more

While staying in Suncadia last weekend, I went through Roslyn a few times while heading out to hikes. On the first hike, a local recommended this place to us and that turned out to be a golden recommendation. On our first visit, we read books and had some coffee. The coffee was legit, but I was most impressed by the book selection, which was very, very solid for any bookstore, let alone one in a small town. We particularly enjoyed thumbing through the illustrated Harry Potter book. The next day, we came back again and some of us had booze while others had coffee. I was one of the booze people. I had a brown sugar whiskey sour that had an egg white in it--delicious! The bartender was a local shopkeeper who moonlights at Basecamp on the weekends and gave us a lot of great info on Roslyn. My girlfriend surprised the table with a little mini-cheesecake that we gladly devoured. Added bonus: they sell NW Forest Passes. I forgot that we actually came here a third time to get the NWFP and a cookie for me to eat in the car. Three visits in one weekend, but hopefully more to come. This place is a lovely little community hub. We loved it. read more

Sorry but our experience here was close to being a total disappointment. The service was good even though we disagree with the servers opinion on the quality and quantity of the food. Long story short: I wanted to try the $18.00 gumbo. I hate to assume so I clearly asked the server if it was a small or big portion. The server assured me it was a large serving and that it was amazing. I was served a small shallow dish of 70% white rice and a small portion of gumbo on top of the rice. My wife laughed when it was served and said I should have ordered 2. No rolls or bread or side salad included. Just a small shallow dish of white rice and gumbo for $18.00!!! On top of getting what I consider to be an over priced dish... it lacked any real flavor. I even had them add jalapenos and it still lacked flavor. :( My wife ordered the BLT and wanted fries but she was told that the deep fryer was too much of a hassle so she had a choice of potato chips. She did like the turkey on the BLT but there was only 2 small pieces of bacon. read more

Stopped by, saw they had live music, it was a nice touch, but way to loud for the venue. Music is on the lawn next to business in an area with two large walls. The volume was so loud we had to leave, would have loved to stay longer and enjoyed the food. Ps., has a cute store. read more

Super cute place to visit with kids! The bookstore has an thoughtfully curated and diverse selection of books. There is a large outdoor area that has a couple of lawn games and seating. They also hold outdoor movie nights in the summer, and we were happy to discover a toddler friendly showing while we were in town- so magical for our little ones! I only wish they would have a vegan option for food on their menu. They did end up modifying a wrap, but it was a bit of a struggle to get there. Will definitely be back though! read more

We have traveled to Cle Elum multiple times and this place has become one of our favorites. Good healthy food, smaller menu, however it gets the job done. Coffee is wonderful. The atmosphere is a quaint bookstore, benches and tables, stools and chairs for a restful area to relax and enjoy peace and quiet. The outside area is just as nice. Big grass yard to play outdoor games and sit and enjoy the sun or a good book. They really have captured where you would want to go right before heading out on an adventure. Great idea and concept. This place will always be one of noir favorites. Hope our review helps you decide to check it out. Great place for dinner. There are so many elements that make Basecamp wonderful. Nothing like realizing you forgot to bring anything to keep your toddler entertained while you wait for food and being able to buy a book or toy and browse the unique gifts and things you didn't know you absolutely needed for yourself. Staff is friendly and baked goods are tasty. I always go back for the grilled cheese because it's pure goodness.
