I've been to this bar several times with friends who come form out of town and want to visit the stockyards. I went this weekend and was served a drink with trash in it. When I showed the bartender she just laughed and scooped it out. I stood there a few moments and she just carried on with others while my drink sat there. I asked her what it was and she continued to laugh saying oh it's just off the bag of ice. I didn't seem amused and she said do you not want it? I told her no so she just set it aside and kept talking with others. I asked for my card back and she just handed it to me. Then today i see a charge for 8.50 on my card for a drink with trash in it that I didn't drink!! Bad customer service!! read more

So I'm not the best with maps. That sentence could sum up my trips to New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, the list could go on. As it happens, it applies to even the city I live in. So as I'm walking up and down Exchange in the Stockyards looking for this bar with a friend last Friday, she's starting to think I'm crazy when she says, "is there a chance this bar is actually a basement?" Duh. Not only is it a basement, it's like walking into a movie theater and forgetting it's daylight. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders are ditzy. Don't expect much in the way of a strong pour, and the girl waiting on us (fast and loose with the phrase "waiting on") had to look up the drink my friend ordered but the service was okay. I enjoyed my Deep Eddy's peach vodka and tonics and she enjoyed whatever fruity shit she was drinking. The drinks were $5 a piece which you're hard pressed to find around here anymore. So disappointed, one of our good friends suggested this bar... service was tragic, blonde bartender working around 3pm September 18th was the rudest person I've ever encountered. We were the only people in the bar she asked for my id and then took another 8 to ask for my drink order, I asked for another she said "another of what" she clearly hated her job and our small group of friends.. absolutely horrific experience and would not recommend to anyone.. do not visit this bar, plenty of other nice bars in the stockyards.. wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. read more

Had a good time last night at Basement Bar. Chill, not busy and good 90's/early 2000's country playlist going. Didn't get any dancing in this time but I sure have been when there was plenty of dancing and way more packed. Before coming down to the basement, we scoured the streets for fun bars in the area. Alas, it was a Monday and drinkers be damned, most of the bars were closed. :( The Basement Bar came through though with $2 well drink specials and a great little atmosphere. My phone had no reception which forced me to talk to my friend without referencing facebook photos so I just had to be that much more descriptive and my audience, that much more imaginative. Wins for all. Interesting clientele who all look pretty friendly and at times overly interested in our convo. The only downside is that they still, STILL, allow indoor smoking. It's 2017 and even Bangkok has found indoor smoking so offensive that it was banned nearly a decade ago. Come on Forth Worth! read more

Very interesting bar! I was visiting a friend that lives in Dallas and she took me to the Stock yards to see the bulls walk the street and after we stumbled across the Basement Bar. It's a little hidden but the aspect of having to walk down to a basement makes to get into the bar makes it super interesting. Just up the street from the Cattle Drive at the Stock Yards and surrounded by Tourist Traps-but this place IS NOT A TOURIST TRAP! Refreshing to find a little dive bar with decent prices and cute Coed Bartenders that will make small talk with the patrons. Lone Star & PBR were like two bucks? I think they have music some nights and things may not be the same when they have entertainment, but when we were there mid-day for a cool drink on a hot day it was perfect, just what we were looking for! Located in the heart of Stockyards, this place is fun and lively. Cheap drinks, great happy hour but no taps, all bottles. I was surprised that it is not as smoky as I imagined it to be. I like to hit this bar up with a crowd of friends, and dance the night away. You can totally get away with being underage and coming in here if you show up before 11pm. Get here right before 10pm though, it's usually when the place is still semi-empty and you can get a good table in the center room. The DJ's at this place always play the best music, and offer some pretty eclectic song choices on any given night. The people that come here are my favorite, there's everything you can think of. You can always count on an interesting character taking over the dance floor and getting the party started. Quintessential underground lounge. Dim lighting, chandeliers, cool sign, good seating/floor space, red booth couches line the walls. Drapey curtains around the stage. This is people watching at it's best. Saturday afternoon, front and back door open, good friend behind the bar. What more could you want? Cheap drinks - they have them. Tipsy people navigating the freaky steps in front? yep. I can see where I would get claustrophobic if it was packed and the doors were closed. Service was horrible. The bartender was throwing change at customer, shortchanging customers and pocketing tips, and then charging double and lying about it. When confronted about it she got combative and started cussing at customers and had multiple parties thrown out. I will definitely not be returning to this bar solely because of this bartender. read more

Omg I came to this bar because I seen a post written by beautiful Cassie inviting people out to this bar. I hadn't heard of it until Cassie and upon arrival I was welcomed by Cassie who so likable and attentive to my order. I ordered an exotic drink that most bartenders hadn't ever heard of and she promptly made it for me to my surprise. I spent several hours in here till the end of shift because I genuinely enjoyed the bar and the "hot" service. I wish every bar I visited had a Cassie in it. read more

Cool little bar!! Has a good sized dance floor and a good sized sitting area with high bar tables and bar stools. The best part about this bar is the DOLLAR DECOR. My friends and I each decorated and signed a $1 bill with a sharpie and they staple-gun it to any open wall/pillar in the bar. My most favorite of places we stopped into in this touristy area. It was packed, so we hesitated upon entering, because we thought we'd leave if there weren't spots at the bar. As we were contemplating, a friendly group of biker regulars asked if we had any questions, made us feel welcome & lucky for us 2 seats opened up at the bar. Found this place using Yelp when going to a concert at Billy Bob's. Wanted to do some bar hopping afterwards and this looked like a winner per yelp fans. I would have enjoyed more variety of music as that night seemed to be all rap and we had just come from country bar. A mix would have been nice. Decent dance floor and even being fairly crowded not really hard to get a drink. It was definitely an eclectic mix of patrons and pretty fun people watching. read more

Went for drinks and Burlesque show Saturday night. Loved the location and atmosphere of the place. The seating was comfortable and the staff friendly. We enjoyed the drinks and friends. The talent of the night was ify... The comedian guy was lame and the burlesque show was definitely not Vegas quality but overall I had a good time and would go back again. We quite literally stumbled into this place walking around the Stockyards after the rodeo...we wanted to stop into a bar but didn't have any place in mind and then TADOW there was Basement Bar was right there, beneath our feet. The people we were with were going to stand around outside to finish their cigarettes but then the people at the door were like "you can smoke in here!" and so that was convenient. And there was no cover, we saw 2 or 3 pretty cool bands play, we were able to bring food in from the Love Shack. It was pretty great! If I could give no stars I would. First when I got our tab it was double what it should have been. I asked for the itemized receipt and the bartender refused and started to argue with me. All I wanted was an itemized receipt but she wouldn't do that she got defensive and started arguing which in my book is the first sign of a liar. Then when I talked to the bar guy I just wanted to talk to a manager he was extremely rude and refused to get a manager for me. He kept basically making me feel like an idiot and I kept demanding that I speak to a manager and after 5 minutes of his rude and unnecessary words he said "I am the manager" which i don't believe he was he would have said that at the start. He's a door guy. Overall an extremely rude staff never been somewhere that literally yells at their customers. Don't go here they will take your money and lie about it. read more

Well one day I got that itch to get out of Dallas and I chose the Stockyards for a day trip. I love DIVEBARS and when I saw the entrance going into the basement I was like HELL YEA!!! THIS IS MY TYPE OF PLACE!!!! The bar has a long history of prostitution back in the wild wild west DAZE. I'm pretty sure the hookers are no mas so you're SOL if you're looking for some trade. I sat down at the bar and had a topshelf margarita on the rocks and when I went to pay it was DIRT CHEAP!!! WTF!!! I was just doing barhopping but when I got the strong drink and at a cheap price I planted my ass on that barstool and wasn't going anywhere. Onto the bartender.... SAVANNAH is the fkin bomb!!! She informed me of interesting facts on the history of the building and kept the tequila flowing! This lil hole in the wall is decorated with local regulars. Now that's my type of place. My husband and I have been there a couple of times in the past few months. It is a pretty casual place and you've got to love the $2 drinks for happy hour from 3-8! We've been once on a Saturday night where we found the place somewhat full with music and dancing going on. Great fun! The other was on a Sunday afternoon where we found that it was much less crowded, watched a football game and still enjoyed ourselves.
