Butcher department is a joke! The employee's seem unhappy and mad when asking for assistance and have lame excuses on why certain meats arnt on the sales floor, not to meantion the quality of there meat, chicken in particular, I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. I am so disappointed with this location now. It has been my go-to store for years and the quality of service, availability of products, produce department and ESPECIALLY the meat department have gotten ridiculous. It's sad to say that the service and quality at Walmart outpaces this location by leaps and bounds. To make things worse, I finally sent in a valid complaint to the Bashas' customer service website and received an immediate follow-up "ticket" that said I would receive a call/email/personal follow-up within 24 hours. 5 days later.....nothing!! I never shopped this store before but wanted to try it. On a Friday night at 6:30 my usual (Fry's) parking lot is so full it's hard to get a spot. This Basha's there were literally only 6 cars in the whole parking lot near the store. We thought it was closed. When you walk in, the entrance is unusually dark. I went straight for the produce and was so surprised to see almost everything I picked up was already growing mold, wilted, showing bad bruising and soft spots, I ended up skipping over half the produce I'd planned on buying. The rest of the store was clean and bright, but the meat and deli areas had covers over everything like they were shut down already? I work until 6, so I have to take time off to buy from the meat counter before they close? I don't think we ran into more than maybe 10 or 12 other shoppers in the whole store which made us feel like what don't we know? There was a cashier up front though, not just self-checkout, and she was friendly and nice along with the person who bagged our groceries. I'll try this store during the day at some point, but it was a waste of time last night. read more

I have shopped at this store for years but it has become a frustrating place to shop. It is common for items on sale to be out of stock by Saturday or Sunday. But the overall experience with their new "self - checkout" has become too much to tolerate. There is sometimes one cashier but not often. The self checkout might work for 3 or 4 items but it constantly goes into "assistance needed" mode and freezes up until someone comes and types stuff in. Then 3 or 4 more items and repeat. It even does the same thing if an attendant helps out and scans things. It used to be a great store to shop with very friendly cashiers. Now it feels like a battle to get out the door with groceries. If I go back it is likely I will just walk out when the self checkout computer tells me I am not qualified to buy groceries and need an attendant. Simple solution hire a cashier or two and it will be a wonderful experience again. read more

Stopped in to go to the deli for lunch. Awesome chicken wings. Fries to perfection, tasty and not greasy. They were cooked Well done. Very happy with my wings for a quick lunch today! The bathrooms were filthy... I went into the women's restroom and there was dirty clothes on the top of the toilet, toilet paper everywhere besides where it belongs and looks like the door, counters, and stall hadn't been washed or cleaned in months... my husband took our son to the men's bathroom and didn't even feel comfortable letting him go in there while he's being potty trained. He said piss is everywhere and it's filthy. This Is a bashas that a lot of elderly people shop at, I can't believe the filth in the bathrooms. I also was waiting at customer service for over 7 minutes before being acknowledged by one person when there were three people at the registers with no customers. Bad services. They looked like brought their problems from home to work. I provided the basket on the conveyor they dumped it all over. I was going to put the items back into the basket so I could put them in my car without using plastic bags but they said I cannot take the basket outside the store. read more

Five stars for the pharmacy. I've gone to a lot of pharmacies and it's always been such a pain. I switched to this pharmacy because of the pharmacist, Alan Brown. He is SO kind, efficient and really cares about patients and making sure meds get filled in a timely manner. This pharmacy isn't close to my house but it's the cheapest with my insurance and Alan just has the best customer service ever. read more

GREAT DONUTS! GREAT DOUGHNUTS! GREAT DONUTS!! They redid the store, but who cares? This review is only about what really matters. They have--in my opinion--the BEST DONUTS in town. They are made in store, and awesome. Note that the best DONUTS in town used to be made at the Bashas at McKellips/Gilbert, where the crazy friendly guy worked, but that store is closed now. So this store is now the best. Unfortunately, not all Bashas donuts are the same. Some stores' donuts are not good. We are lucky this one is near us. read more

Not sure how this local grocer stays in business? Whether it's holiday season or any given Sunday. There is never more than ten people shopping. Maybe if lucky, two cashiers. Which are luke warm. Last Sunday, February 24th will be our last. The Butcher was standing behind the counter. Didn't seem to be doing anything of importance. No other customers waiting. He saw us. But did not inquire if we needed anything. Then he walked to the back. My husband rang the bell. We asked him if he could slice the roast we were purchasing. We were making beef jerky. The slices need to be thin and uniform. He told us he would try to hand slice it. But not use the slicer. Why? He gave no response. We left and went to FRY'S. And they were MORE than willing to accommodate our need. The Butcher always appears to be having an unfortunate day. Grocery Stores are the most relevant business in our life today. It's where we buy things we need to survive. I spend between $450-600 in any given month. I expect. I need my grocer to be KIND. Welcoming. read more

We come here for the weekly deals. They quite often have specials like country ribs at 99 cents a pound. They run buy one get one free deals periodically. I have a Basha's club card which saves on many in-store sale items. The down side is they don't offer fuel points like Fry's or Safeway. This store is in my neighborhood so I will continue to watch for the weekly specials. read more

Just went to Basha's Grocery store. Have shopped here before. They probably have more product than some, but they are also price gouging many items. At this time when so many need product having to pay twice the price on some items and all others inflated in price is criminal. We consider ourselves fortunate to have this grocery store in our neighborhood. Where the next closest store is 2 miles away, this store is within a short walking distance from our house. It is flanked by a Hallmark store, our dentist, our hairdresser, an Ace Hardware, McDonalds and other fast food places. Granted, this is not a mega-store but who wants to do all that walking when all you want are basic grocery items on any given day. This Bashas has any food item we need then some and the service is friendly and efficient. The environment is clean. We come here often. read more

I love my Bashas in our neighborhood. The employees that work there have all been there for a long time and to me that says something about the company. It is a smaller store than most Bashas and yet they have the BEST meat counter in the Mesa area the produce is always fresh, and the bakery is awesome. If you live in that neighborhood its a small store with a small town feel and its refreshing to be able to depend on Bashas to always have what you need. read more

What's good for me is not always good for this store. I like that it is not very crowded. I am old and handicapped, so I like the smaller store size and friendly staff. I can't comment on prices. My rating is specifically for the deli department. The two women that work there are incredibly rude. I called in to order some subs for a party. They were rude and abrupt over the phone but I let it go. I told them I guessed I would pick them up around noon on the day that I asked for them to be ready. On that day, I went to pick them up. It was 11:30 so I wasn't expecting them to be done, but thought I would try since I was running a little early. When I walked up to the counter, I heard the two women talking about making my subs. Then she asked me what I needed. I said, "oh, I think it's actually my subs you were just talking about!" One lady said, "um, no. Wow. You are WAY early. WAY too early." (Is 30 minutes that early?) So I nicely said, "ok! When do you think they will be done?" The other girl goes, "as long as I can stand here that's when they will be done." (... what does this mean? Can't she give me an estimate in minutes?) I didn't respond because it caught me so off guard that she was so angry for no reason. The other girl says, "we thought we had til noon" in a really rude tone of voice. So I said, "WOW!" And walked away. I am astounded. I thought I was extremely nice and they were so rude! I was so confused that I called my mom and told her about what happened. My mom told me that several months ago those same women were very rude to her as well, and she had decided never to go there again. Update: went back in to get my subs. One of the women weren't there, and the manager was there instead. I told her what happened. She said, "well SHE said you got mad that you were there early and left. So I was just going to sell your sandwiches to someone else." I said, "no, I wasn't mad at all.." she said, "k! Sounds good!" And I told her if she doesn't believe me, to check the yelp for the deli department. Clearly I am not the only one who has had a negative experience with them. This is the only grocery store that i had bad experiences not once but twice. I know everyone should be friendly specially if your in customer service business. The 2nd experienced was the worse, the lady at the cooked food section was rude. My thing was it's their fault to have the discount sign out still then she told me it's not available anymore. I think being on top of their game will be more helpful to them and to the customer too. Being so rude about saying it didn't help. Same experienced I had at Walmart, the discount sign was out still they forgot to take it out. But since it's their fault they still gave me the discount since they are the one who forgot to took off the discount sign up. You can't have an argument to your customer specially if you are the one who didn't do your job right away. I'm at customer service industry too, that's why it makes me so sad to see workers in this field that are not suitable for the job. The manager was awesome though, the first time I had a problem she was there to help right away. Will not be back in this store anymore. Probably will drive to other Bashas store even though it's farther, but at least will be more friendly. read more

Customer service is just always awful. I am a teacher and I have never had a problem getting a couple dozen donuts. Then the lady got mad at me and said you should have called in your order at least 24 hours before. I didn't know I was going to get them 24 hours before. On the last day of school, you didn't plan that people would be coming in??! Another occasion I bought a chocolate cake there, not only did the cashier not say one word to me she gave me a broken bag. Then the cake tasted like lemon and didn't taste like chocolate at all, which was a perfect cake for my husband who hates lemon. This makes me question the ingredients in their cakes. How could a cake covered in chocolate not taste like chocolate but lemon? read more

this store has gotten better with there produce but still has a long way to go for me to shop here over our locale frys the great thing about this store is so few people go here that its easy getting in and out if you need some basic food items. the paking lot has shopping carts all over the place because people seem to be very lazy and none caring where they leave there carts none the less for a none busy store there staff does not seem to manage this issue. i think they need to rethink who there customer coud be and not assume its the ageing retirement communitys and focus on people who are looking for better quality product read more

Always a problem. It's a shame that this is the only really convenient grocery store because of where we live. I used to go here primarily because my bank branch was also in this store. When I left that bank, I still needed to use this store for emergency buys or lottery tickets. On any name brand item, their prices are at least 30% higher than other local grocers. I have gone in there, just to use their service counter, and with a cashier 10 feet away, nobody bothers to show up, as if the customer is chopped liver. They are chronically understaffed as well with only one cashier lane open in the evenings. The most recent time I needed something at the service counter, the employee came by after nearly 10 minutes of waiting and then said he had something else to do, and didn't show up for another 4 or 5 minutes. Does the customer mean anything? The only department that has been useful has been the bakery. read more
