Americanized ... too large a menu to support ... confused theme in the art work .... Better off going to the Mekong

If you are looking for good Thai food, this place has good food. We ordered vegetarian dishes. All were very good. However, I removed three stars for very poor service. It was super rushed, and couple of times they came across as very disrespectful. The waitress who took our order, was very polite, pleasant and very helpful. However, there were two other waitresses, in particular, who came across as very disrespectful and uncourteous. They would bring food and just drop on the table as hurriedly as they could, even without making eye contact or telling what dish have they brought to the table. She would not pause even to take requests. While we are asking for red chilli paste and peanut sauce, she was walking away super fast from table rolling her eyes, and mumbling something to her colleague. It appeared we were chasing her to put in our food requests. While walking out, I was looking for the door, and by mistake walked into the bar area. Again, these two waitresses rolled their eyes disrespectfully, instead of politely showing the way out. While the food was good, we felt very unwelcome. Definitely do not recommend if you are looking to have a pleasant dining. Message to the restaurant: just furniture and ambiance does not make a good restaurant or fine dining experience. In hospitality industry it is service and warmth you surround your guests with along with good food that makes a dining experience pleasant for the guest. Your waitresses have too much attitude and uncourteous demeanor that renders them unfit for hospitality industry. read more

The rolls are great, except for the crab they have that I've gotten in the Alaskan roll the last few times has been very over cooked and just is terribly crunchy, not the good kind of crunch. But every other roll is very good and I just wish the employees got treated better there! They're super nice and helpful! read more

I'd travel back to Alaska to eat here. Delicious! Every morsel was so good and beautifully presented.

Found a cockroach in my food last night. The Chef came to our table to apologize and said "please don't talk bad about us". The ambiance was great everything looked great except wow I will never return to that restaurant. read more

We were driving from Denali to Anchorage (visiting from Kansas City) and decided to stop here on the way for dinner. First of all, we were super appreciative they were able to accommodate our 13 person group at short notice. We lucked out, the weather was great and we got to sit outside. Everyone enjoyed their food! We had sushi, chicken sir fry, prawn hot and sour soup, pad Thai and probably some other stuff too. I didn't take pictures- but want to say the food was great, service really good, and the staff very friendly! Sorry with so many things and a big group it's hard to write specifics about everything; the gist is food was flavorful and spicy- but just enough to open up the sinuses (if anyone has congestion) without being inedibly strong! Yelp never lets me down. Many choices for rolls and Quite a few house rolls. I had a spicy tuna roll and Hamachi sashimi. Excellent with just the right amount of fire. Very attentive and friendly staff. You will be missing out if u don't stop in. Stacy was my server, awesome lady. read more

Went for takeout last night and got a dinner special. Came out to be $20.50 and contained a California Roll, Mongolian Beef and choice of miso, hot and sour or wonton soup. I chose the latter and waited for them to cook it up. The Mongolian beef was divine! I thoroughly enjoyed the drizzle of Sesame oil and I figured out then what a lot of Mongolian beef is missing at other places. TONS of tender beef, and a fairly large scoop of rice. The Wonton soup was delicate and everything was still warm when we brought it back home to Eagle River. Soooo excited to try more dishes from them. read more

Very expensive for a small amount of underwhelming food. We had green curry and basil stir fry - the vegetables were different than the standard dishes and didn't soak up the flavor as much as I like. Food seemed to be lacking flavor. Tempura cheesecake was smaller than a normal slice of cheesecake and still more expensive. I would have to pass next time. read more

Every time I go here, this is maybe my 4th time since it opened, I always go anticipating that it's going to be better. But sadly, it always misses the mark. I've never had their sushi but other dishes. I've never cared for any I've had, yes, it tasted OK but not near as good as many much cheaper, hole in the wall places I've been. It's highly over rated. The service, well, the gal came back one time to fill our glasses, that's it. No, "how's everything, is there anything else I can get you after a few minutes of delivering food. So I give it 3 stars for service also. I guess the high prices is for the ambiance, I'll give it 4 stars for that, as the rest does not warrant it. I always go away from this place feeling a bit ripped off. On top of that, they put an automatic service charge of 18% on your bill for a party of 6. Maybe that's normal but most places don't. It's insulting, especially since the service is 3 stars, and that is being gracious. They also charged extra for a t-spoon of crumbles on one of the sushi dishes. This should be an option, not an extra charge. I need to quit beating a dead horse. It won't be any different next time. read more

This place must be under same ownership as Lime Leaf in Eagle River. We've eaten there many times and it's the same menu. No liquor. While our food was good, timing was way too fast. It was like they were having a race to see how fast they could get it out. Our entrees came out almost right after our appetizer. We were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. The waiter, bus person and hostess were way too attentive. Listen, I know. Could be worse. I've worked in the restaurant business for years. There is such a thing as too much attention. The trio kept trying to take our plates early. When it came time for dessert, we were asked 3 times in the span of 30 seconds if we wanted dessert!!! I even asked if they needed our table because we were so rushed! We were done in less than 45 min. If you're in a rush, this could be the place for you. It made us feel unwelcome. Desserts were crazy overpriced. $13 for the smallest sliver of cheesecake ever. We definitely will not be back. Slow down, allow guests to take their time and encourage/train your staff to be less overbearing. read more

The service was friendly, but very slow. We ordered an appetizer and drinks, and got both, but we had almost finished off the edamame appetizer, while chatting and munching, before the server came to take our order. The house Pinot Grigio really tasted good to me, and usually I'm "meh" about my wine. My partner ordered some ale, and she said it was delicious. The food came out quickly. My dinner partner's eel nagiri was "ok" she said, she has definitely had better. My Chicken Pad Thai was interesting. There was a flavor in it I couldn't place, and I described it to my dinner partner as "Tomatoey". The server heard me and said they had just reworked the recipe, and paprika was a new ingredient in it, but no tomato. The sprouts on the dish were not bean sprouts, but something tiny, like sandwich sprouts. I know generally with pad thai, the bean sprouts are a main part of the dish, so this was really weird to me. The chicken was moist and good though. I had Buddah Rolls last summer that had slightly overcooked rice, so they were a bit mushy. This restaurant is decent, the atmosphere is nice, but it is quite loud as well. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for the first time on a whim, and were incredibly surprised by how amazing it was. There was a 10 minute wait to get seated, but it was ultimately worth the wait. The entire service experience was outstanding. We didn't time it, but it felt like less than a minute passed from when a glass was empty to it being refilled. It felt like nearly every single employee was attentive to each table, as we interacted with five different people, all of whom catered to anything we needed. The sushi was a little pricer than what we were used to (crunch roll - $19, California roll $14), but was very well made and delicious. We will absolutely come here again and would suggest it to anybody that was looking for this type of cuisine. The real outstanding and INSANE detail about this place was the speed in which the food was brought out. We immediately ordered edamame upon sitting down, and it was out within a blink of an eye (which was also very good). The food we ordered was also out nearly instantly. I think the longest we waited, from the time we ordered something to the time it was on the table, was 5 minutes, which was the chicken fried rice (magnificent). I finally don't have to go to Anchorage for sushi. Very nice atmosphere, classy and clean. Sapporo on tap is a bonus. Tempura shrimp is hand breaded, thick fresh and good. Served w a sweet tangy ginger plum house sauce. House sake is unusually smooth and tasty. I asked our waitress about it and she took five minutes to explain to us the three grades of sake, how it's made, and all the flavors are differentiated. Sashimi dinner is an amazing array of fresh cuts and unique presentation flavors, including a deep-fried shrimp head which I usually have to request special from the kitchen. Amazing, and I eat sushi a lot, everywhere I go. This place is great. read more

I wanted something spicy on a cold day and was hoping this place would hit the spot. We ordered coconut shrimp to start, a Thai green tea, and iced tea. Hubs ordered sushi rolls and I got the basil beef/egg roll combo which came with wonton soup. The coconut shrimp was a bit odd, not like any coconut shrimp I've had before and covered in a rather tasteless coconut cream sauce. Not a fan. The wonton soup contained exactly one wonton and was okay. I thought the Thai green tea was a little odd- I've had Thai green tea before and this was not what I remembered it to be. The basil beef was absolute perfection. The beef was so incredibly tender and the veggies crisp and amazing! I ate all of the beef and veggies, about half the rice, and didn't even touch the egg roll. My husband was very disappointed with his sushi rolls. The California roll was fine but he barely touched his lobster roll or Alaska roll. Service was great and friendly. The place was packed when I was there and reservations are recommended for Friday and Saturday night. I would visit again just for the basil beef but not sure I would order sushi again. read more
