    House fried rice.

$23.50 for house fried rice and this is what you'll get. The smallest portion I've ever gotten from any Chinese's/Japanese restaurant ever for that price

    Super crunchy roll.

First I would like to say that I am thankful that they were open. We initially wanted to try zushi but they were closed. We went here for a late lunch yesterday and there were a good amount of people already seated and eating. Not too busy but since the restaurant is a bit small, it looks somewhat full. We were sat in a back booth..no biggie. We were forgotten many of times or so it seemed. Service really sucked! They didn't offer us a refill on our Thai tea ( I was well aware it costs to refill- fine..no prob) but we weren't offered a refill at all! It took a while till someone noticed us and took our order and once our order was finally placed- forgotten again. Crap service! Food was interesting. I ordered the samurai bento box, the meal said it comes with soup and salad....no soup or salad. Not even an apology or make up for it. My two children ordered the crunch roll and we ordered one to go as well. They enjoyed it but in a weird way they all didn't taste the same. Lack of consistency! The bento box was semi-tolerable..the tempura that comes with it has more vegetables ( starchy) ones and one lonesome shrimp. Definitely not worth the cost of the entire meal. The gyoza was mushy..sorta made me gag several times. Quality was NOT there. Chicken teriyaki was ok and rice (thankfully) tasted like rice..not much to say regarding white rice. Can't believe that was even critiqued amongst everything else. They dropped the bill on our table without a word. It was almost a hundred for poor quality food. Then took my card and charged me for someone else's food. Then asked for my card back to reverse the charges! Finally did so, no apology- nothing. Signed the bill and left..no good byes..no thanks for coming in. NOTHING! Wish I could leave zero stars! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND coming here. I will not return. Worst service ever!

Wow! Great selection - layout of the menu is great. The service is great - friendly people all around. Great wasilla vibe music playing. Super clean bathrooms. The food is delicious - my mom and I met for lunch and had a great time. Will be b

We have never had anything we haven't liked here. The portion sizes are good and service is fairly quick. When we tried delivery, it was a 45 minute wait and only $3 delivery charge. Very reasonable, especially since in this area it's mostly just pizza places that deliver. Never eaten in the actual restaurant so can't say much for customer service etc.

First, I waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledged and given a menu. Throughout my wait, the staff in the back were speaking very loudly in a foreign language; it sounded like a heated argument, which made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. When the soup finally arrived, it wasn't even served hot. The situation went from bad to worse when I noticed a live bug crawling on the plate that held my bean sprouts. Upon checking my soup, I saw several small black specks that looked like more bugs. Needless to say, I immediately stopped eating. When I brought this to the staff's attention at the counter and showed them photos, the response was dismissive. Instead of taking ownership, the employee tried to suggest the bug might have just flown onto the plate from the dining room, as if that makes having insects in the restaurant acceptable. To make matters worse, they still charged me for the meal. I am disgusted by the lack of hygiene and the poor customer service. I will never return, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this place.

It's the first little box you're probably gonna open and it's gonna make you mad. They're $10 for two eggrolls the size of your finger. They were unremarkable and should've been two dollars. I was ready to be pissed off about the rest of the food, but I was pleased. I got the chicken lo mein, and it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were the perfect consistency. The chicken was tender, and I was not expecting that, and the veggies were perfect. It was so freaking good. I was also ready for the sesame chicken to be meh. Or at least hurt my mouth. It was soft, perfect battered covering perfect amount of sauce. Perfect amount of sesame seeds. White rice doesn't always grab me and there were two big scoops in the container and it's the best rice I think I've ever had and it went really well with the chicken. And the last item was a roll that had tempura shrimp, crab, avocado, eel, and then your standard spicy mayo and EL sauce. It was outstanding. The only thing I didn't like was the prices. I understand they're inflated for Doordash. I also understand that Doordash provides consistent and constant business to these places and I still don't like the prices. They are comparable to every other place in town though so understand that if you're gonna blow some money on DoorDash and sushi at least get the good stuff at Jimmy's.

The room has a high-energy, lively vibe without ever feeling overwhelmingly loud, and you can tell why the chef earned a James Beard nomination. You definitely need a reservation; they have a few walk-in spots, but they go very fast, so you will want to get there right when doors open if you do not have one booked. The beverage menu is very well done, with great cocktails and thoughtful mocktails that felt just as crafted. For food, our starters set a high bar; the pork buns, pickles, and octopus were all flavorful and well prepared. The ramen itself was delicious and hits the spot in the Alaska weather, with deep, tasty broths and bold flavors throughout. The Dark Horse was especially good. We did not have room left for dessert, but the savory side of the menu more than delivered.

We came a little after opening at 5:15 and were seated at a table immediately. Larger groups may have trouble without a reservation. Everything was phenomenal. My husband had a couple cocktails and I had a couple NA cocktails. I was really impressed with the NA cocktails -- they were complex in flavor and not overly sweet. Husband was also impressed with his drinks. For appetizers we got the pickles, pork buns and takoyaki. In my opinion the pork buns are the way to go. I also enjoyed the pickles and there were a good garnish with other dishes. For ramens we got the dark horse and Tokyo rich tsukemen. Wow wow wow, they were simply excellent. The broths had so much flavor. The tsukemen was a fun dish with having to assemble it yourself and dip food into the broth. Pork belly serving was very generous. Some of the best ramen I have ever had. If you are in anchorage you need to eat here!

When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty small and seemed like it could fill up quickly during peak hours. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to be cleared before we could be seated. Once we sat down, I immediately noticed how sticky everything was! The table, the menus, and even the soy sauce (or "shoyu" for all my Hawai'i people) were noticeably sticky! The booth seats were also cracked. Luckily I was wearing long jeans so it didn't bother me too much. Normally, I don't mind a little noise, but the restaurant was extremely loud. Everyone around us seemed to be talking at full volume, to the point where we could hear entire conversations from other tables. It definitely took away from the overall dining experience and vibe. As for the service, it was underwhelming. Our drinks were never refilled, not even once, and we had to go without refills for the entire meal. I also noticed some of the staff eating behind the sushi bar while they were still working, which I found a little off-putting and unprofessional. We started with the garlic edamame, which was loaded with garlic, something I personally love. Unfortunately, the edamame itself was mushy and overcooked. We also ordered a shrimp tempura roll, combination fried rice, and a bulgogi bento. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and ended up being the best dish we ordered. The bulgogi bento, was VERY sweet, a little too sweet for my preference. The salad dressing wasn't anything particularly special, and the tempura was just okay. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially because I'm always on the hunt for good sushi outside of Hawai'i, but unfortunately, the food and overall atmosphere didn't quite meet my expectations. There were some decent dishes, but I don't think this will be a spot we rush back to.

Very nice staff and attentive and judging by all the people that waited to get in at opening, they are popular. The atmosphere was pleasant enough, clean and good lighting. Back to the ramen, I know I said it was good but I've lived in Hawaii where there are many ramen restaurants and was looking for different flavor profiles for their broth that I have found on the islands perhaps. Overall SOLID 4 Stars!…read more There are about half dozen Japanese restaurants in Anchorage, and after reviewing them on Yelp, we decided to visit this establishment. Ambiance 4 Stars - The restaurant is quaint and has limited seating (about dozen tables) and 6 bar seats. When you entered, the decorum feels like you have been transported to Japan and are eating at a local restaurant for the average hardworking people. I felt comfortable and relaxed. Lucky for us, we were able to be seated immediately because when it gets busy, there will be line out the door. And in 20 degree weather, that's not my cup of "matcha" tea. LOL! Service 4 Stars - I believe the restaurant is family owned and operated. Limited staff but the friendly, fast and efficient. Our server recommended several dishes which we ordered on a cold night. Only "ding" to our server was she didn't ask about our drinks. We were served water but she didn't take our drink order which was fine because of the yummy noodle broth we ordered. This place specializes in Japanese noodles, so don't expect a Hibachi show or variety of different sushi options. Their sushi option is very limited and you are not going to order teriyaki chicken with fried rice here. The star of the show are Japanese inspired noodle dishes and Katsu (deep fried Pork or Chicken). Food SOLID 4 Stars - We ordered Four dishes 1. 3 Stars - Pork Katsu - deep fried panko coated Pork with a tiny accompaniment of sliced cabbage. The Tonkatsu sauce (made of ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, Worcestershire sauce, ginger, and garlic), was liberally squeezed on the top of the dish. It was good but parts of the meat was slightly dry and the panko had a slight burnt taste to it. Possibly it was left in the fryer a little bit longer than it should. 2. 4 Stars - Kimchi Pork Tonkutso Miso Ramen Kimchi inspired w Chasu (pork belly), bean sprouts, green onions, one halved hard boiled egg, garlic flakes and ramen noodles. The ramen were al dente, had a slight chewy texture and it was a great way to soaked up the Miso broth. The miso broth was light and clear. Not as fatty or heavy as some other broths can be but had a wonderful flavor due to the other ingredients in it. This dish is loaded with Kimchi, so it might get a spicy. The Pork Katsu was a great palate cleanser to the kimchi heat. 2. 4 Stars Shoyu Ramen - same ingredients as above without the Kimchi. Also, is it chicken broth with soy sauce. The broth is light, slightly salty, and darker due to the added soy sauce. 3. 4 Stars Naruto Udon - chicken broth, shiitake mushrooms, freshly ground ginger and garlic, seaweed paper, green onions and bean sprouts. The rice based Udon noodles were thick and slippery. At times, they are hard to use with the chopsticks. The chicken broth has a wonderful Umami taste due to the earthy shiitake mushrooms. If you want more a vegetarian meal, this dish is the one. Even though they serve noodle soup dishes, don't forget to try their Japanese / Korean Curry dishes too. I will definitely be back to taste their curry dishes or appetizers like Gyoza and possibly get the Pork Katsu again just to try one more time. Also, there is a Combo Option for additional cost. I combine the Pork Katsu with the Kimchi Tonkutso for an additional $7. Check with your server or look on the menu. The prices and dish items may change later on. Enjoy!
