    Super crunchy roll.

First I would like to say that I am thankful that they were open. We initially wanted to try zushi but they were closed. We went here for a late lunch yesterday and there were a good amount of people already seated and eating. Not too busy but since the restaurant is a bit small, it looks somewhat full. We were sat in a back booth..no biggie. We were forgotten many of times or so it seemed. Service really sucked! They didn't offer us a refill on our Thai tea ( I was well aware it costs to refill- fine..no prob) but we weren't offered a refill at all! It took a while till someone noticed us and took our order and once our order was finally placed- forgotten again. Crap service! Food was interesting. I ordered the samurai bento box, the meal said it comes with soup and salad....no soup or salad. Not even an apology or make up for it. My two children ordered the crunch roll and we ordered one to go as well. They enjoyed it but in a weird way they all didn't taste the same. Lack of consistency! The bento box was semi-tolerable..the tempura that comes with it has more vegetables ( starchy) ones and one lonesome shrimp. Definitely not worth the cost of the entire meal. The gyoza was mushy..sorta made me gag several times. Quality was NOT there. Chicken teriyaki was ok and rice (thankfully) tasted like rice..not much to say regarding white rice. Can't believe that was even critiqued amongst everything else. They dropped the bill on our table without a word. It was almost a hundred for poor quality food. Then took my card and charged me for someone else's food. Then asked for my card back to reverse the charges! Finally did so, no apology- nothing. Signed the bill and left..no good byes..no thanks for coming in. NOTHING! Wish I could leave zero stars! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND coming here. I will not return. Worst service ever!

Maybe the Japanese food is good. I wanted some good Chinese to celebrate a good report from a docs apt. This was not it. The soup had nothing but peas and egg drop. The pot stickers were ok. The sesame chicken was so bad I didn't finish. It had pieces of chicken that should not be used. Chewy, grisly.. idk..., I'm from Austin and it's not too hard to find good sesame chicken. Maybe it's different Won't be back. Very pricey and couldn't finish.

From the door, a very comfortable restaurant.

I don't do a lot of reviews for restaurants, but thought I would do one for this place. I really like the interior and feel of this place. It's pretty casual, very clean and just a great atmosphere. The lighting with the natural wood construction was really nice. The waitress was very nice. We were seated right away, brought water and nice hot tea. We had a second waiter that took care of us during the meal. He wasn't hovering over us constantly or bugging us, but made sure our glasses stayed full, and finished plates were immediately taken. That's big for me. The menu wasn't too much for the kitchen to handle, we we got some pretty good quality food: Teriyaki Salmon - Tasty and not dry/overcooked. This was a huge hit for my wife and daughter. Beef and Broccoli - Great taste, and I'd like to know how they got the beef so tender. Broccoli wasn't mushy, slight crunch which is just the way it should be. Sweet N Sour Shrimp - Nailed it. Not tough, great taste, and it had what you would expect from a good sweet n sour; crunchy but not raw onion cubes, pineapple chunks that weren't soggy, crisp carrots sliced thinly, green peppers with a nice crunch. I like the dual-menu option; Japanese food, or Chinese food. It works pretty well for them as I said, and judging by the quality, the kitchen can handle the menu pretty well. I did not try the sushi bar, but it looked clean and had pretty much what you would expect. I would say the only con about this place during my visit, was that the water had the garden hose taste to it. They really need to add a filter, or change it if they already have one.

Additional the chicken give boiled which is not the tastiest. The bento box is the way to go as you can pick what you want. The sushi looks great especially the jumbo rolls. The food is consistently a 9/10--perfect vegetable tempura, incredible house-made ginger dressing, and generous bento boxes that come with miso soup and salad (and still leave you with leftovers). Favorites: teriyaki chicken, beef & broccoli, and the tempura shrimp--highly recommend. I was really disappointed to recently see a "For Sale" sign. This place is a gem, and it would be a loss to see the quality change. Service is polite but a bit disengaged, and the atmosphere is simple and sometimes noisy--but honestly, you come here for the food. If you're a foodie, go while you can. This place is absolutely worth it. It's a hidden gem!

A hidden gem in the Chugiak/Peters Creek area. It's connected to the VFW, and easy to miss. While I…read morethink that the local community is now well aware of their presence, it is absolutely worth driving from Anchorage or stopping on your way through to sample. They open most days at 4 PM, however, calling ahead to verify and check wait times is not a bad idea. About two weeks ago, a pick up order was called in for three entrées at 6:00pm and we were told there was a 45 minute wait, that turned into an hour and a half. When I arrived at the 1hour mark with two elderly and very hungry parents in the car, there appeared to be nobody dining in, but there were a few people pacing while waiting to pick up food. After about 15 minutes, one lady rang the service bell multiple times and when a staff member came out she angrily declared she'd like to pay for something she had consumed, canceled the rest of her order, and stormed out. I asked the other folks how long they had been there and the consensus was that they had been waiting quite a while. After another half hour wait and a few more folks arriving to pick up, my families order was the first ready. It was steaming hot and obviously fresh as having just been completed. I hope everyone else got their food in quick succession. It seemed likely there was an issue in the kitchen as sometimes the wait is long when they're busy but they've been pretty accurate in expressing wait times in the past. A subsequent order two days ago called in at about 4:15 was ready in 20 minutes. So the secret may be calling before dinner time. Their menu is delicious. Everything is always prepared so well and we have never been disappointed. Favorites have been red curry and green curry, both are pretty spicy but remarkable. Pad Thai and the Bangkok noodle are also delicious. Pineapple fried rice is quite possibly something you haven't tasted before, but will want to have again, spring rolls are always a favorite, Sesame chicken has never failed, and any order where tofu is a non-meat choice, the tofu is absolute perfection. The dining room is way too hot for this Alaskan, but is spacious and can seat large parties. Call ahead and check the wait times but definitely check this place out for dinner. It is family owned, and they are very friendly, taking great pride in the food they prepare and their service.
