    Dilliwala Butter Chicken
    Justin G.

Some of the best Indian takeout I've had in STL. The chili paneer had the perfect flavor and texture combo. Butter chicken is a bit on the sweeter side but I absolutely loved it. I could literally drink the sauce. This place hit all the right notes, even if they aren't reinventing the wheel. Favorite dishes: Chili paneer, butter chicken

The staff was very kind and helpful ordering. The restaurant was cute and clean and smelt AMAZING just when you walk in the door. The food was by far the best part they have many vegan and vegetarian options and they taste just as good as the meat version. We will be going back!

We ordered the Hyderabad chicken and Lahore paneer. Amazing. The flaky paratha are underwhelming. Not that great. Wish they had more bread options. Rice was flavorful Noodles were bland Good amount of spice I would come here for the food. Don't expect anything else. The service was HORRIBLE The decor is so dingy

Yellow Curry and Lamb Vindaloo with basmati rice and paratha bread

Absolutely delicious! We each had a cup of Tom Yum soup which was piping hot and spicy. This was followed by Lamb Vindaloo, Yellow Curry with chicken and paratha bread which is similar to naan. Both entrees were excellent! Just the right level of spices and heat. Server was attentive and friendly. Ambiance is pretty with interesting paintings on the walls. We will come here again for sure!

I would recommend this place 100 times over. The food is so delicious! I have been multiple times and I have liked everything I've tried. The food comes out hot and fresh. I really enjoyed the chai beverage. I like how they have two sides of the menu which provides you with more options. I definitely recommend the chicken tikka masala. The service is good and they usually have seating available. I enjoy the ambience as well and the decor in the restaurant. They definitely get busy on the weekends so make sure you get there early.

We returned to Basil India. The food is full of heat, even the selections marked 'mild.' We chose out items carefully keeping this in mind. The restaurant itself still looks hastily set up with a mush mash of tables and decorations. When we visited a year ago, they were new and perhaps did not have the opportunity to purchase better accoutrements. Our dinner for two was more expensive than we expected. It was $73 and with the added tip in the high eighties, putting our dinner at over $40 a person. Even though the food was interesting, I doubt if we will return again. The cost of the meal may have been acceptable if the experience was finished with better tables, chairs and quieter environment. The noise level was very high in this establishment. When we left, every table was full and there were people standing uncomfortably in the restaurant waiting for a table to sit at. We could not hear our waitress and had to ask her to repeat herself a number of times. She asked if we wanted bread with our meal and my husband agreed. She then offered some choices and the way she offered the bread, or naan, it sounded like it came along with the meal (like Italian bread at a pasta house.). But beware that this is a separate menu item and expense.

Basil India seems to have reduced their menu offerings to just mainly Indian items - they had many Asian items that had been marked off as they mentioned they're changing up their menu a bit. We were totally OK with this since the food we did order was delicious! Our waitress had recommended the Chicken Lababdar as it has a tomato base and a nice amount of spice. The gravy was delicious and fresh, there were big chunks of chicken that were perfectly cooked! We also got 2 paranthas to eat with the chicken - they were smaller than we had expected But there were 4 total pieces for each type which was more than enough! They were buttery, soft, flaky, and delicious. We enjoyed the Bollywood music that was playing in the background as well Can't wait to come back here again!

Clockwise from 12, Parathas, Butter chicken, Masaman curry, Green curry, Garlic parathas.

It was a random selection for a group dinner in St. Louis while visiting for work. We ordered Samosas and Paneer chili for appetizer. They were both hot and spicy. Samosas were served with sweet chili sauce instead of the traditional tamarind chutney. It was a delicious combination. For entrees we ordered Thai green curry with chicken, Masaman curry with shrimp and Butter chicken. They all tasted good but were too rich. Perhaps too much coconut milk. All dishes came with rice. We also ordered Parathas but they clearly were store bought Malaysian parathas. Not Indian parathas. They did not have a good selection of breads like Naans and Authentic Indian parathas. The server was very polite and helpful. Overall a decent place. I would give 3.5 stars if I could.

Weekday visits are pretty chill but weekend dinner time gets busy, just something to plan around. Also a heads up on parking, the lot isn't very big so when it's packed it can be tough to find a spot. Would recommend carpooling if you can. I have a pretty low spice tolerance but there are still so many delicious dishes to choose from if you look around the menu. The soups are so hearty and comforting. Insider tip: the tofu egg dish is not on the menu but ask for it anyway. It is so worth it and the best way I can describe it is like eating a savory cloud puff. So unique and so good. The service is always super efficient, food comes out fast, and the staff will get you in and out. Every single dish I've had has been full of flavor and nothing has missed yet. Would absolutely come back and highly recommend.

It was excellent and had just the right amount of heat. I also enjoyed the smoky ham fried rice, although it lacked the distinct smoky aroma I was expecting. Some of the other dishes didn't quite land for me. The fish soup wasn't my favorite, and the beef noodle soup wasn't especially memorable. The cumin lamb, however, was better than expected and ended up being one of the stronger dishes we ordered. That said, the service was friendly, the portions were generous, and there are plenty of interesting options on the menu. I'd definitely come back to try some different dishes next time.

Maybe they're fine on other days, but it took two and a half hours for my meal to be ready, long after the quoted time online. I sat outside in my car for a while when I went to pick it up, and the place was totally packed with people waiting for their food. Perhaps they should have capped orders or something? I'm sure they were exhausted and working nonstop. The pepper chicken was pretty good, except it was missing the egg I paid to add, as well as the rice. After waiting so long, I was really annoyed about the order missing the extras. It was an extra $5 to order online, too. I'm giving them grace because they were way overworked that night, and the food was pretty good. But they definitely need to cap orders or give more accurate time estimates. There were a lot of furious (probably hangry) people there who left without their orders.

I flinch whenever I hear the "movoc" and I get so excited I want to throw up whenever someone suggests going to movoc for a hangout. There are lots of toppings to choose from, and I think that the concept of hot pot price by weight just like FroYo is fun and unique. Service is fast, and clean. Apparently, I wasn't the only one because this place got packed by 6p on a weekday! The line was out the door. It can be a little confusing for a first time goer as you enter the place and grab a bowl to select the ingredients you want to eat. The minimum weight that you have to buy is 0.9 lbs, but you really won't know how much your bowl weighs until you get up to the cashier and put it on the scale. My bowl was underweight my first time through, so I went back to grab more ingredients. If I had to guess the minimum cost for a 0.9 lb bowl, it's probably about $16, which is a pretty good price for a hot pot. My bowl weighed about 0.97 and it was way more than I could comfortably eat. The next decision you have to make after you have selected your ingredients is the base and spicy level. I went with #1 Oil splash spicy soup at medium spice level. Now, I enjoy spicy foods, but this was at the upper limit of enjoyability. Although tasty, I think the oil in the broth got to be too much and I will want to try a different base next time. After you pay for your food, you get a number which you take to a table of your choosing and wait for your bowl to come out (they cook it for you). There is a drinking water station next to the free rice station, which was around the corner from the complimentary pickled vegetable station. Overall, positive experience and I would return for more. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026
