We tried Basil n Spice for a weekday lunch. Although they serve Thai and Chinese, we both selected Indian dishes for lunch plus Roti and Peshwari Naan. It's a tiny restaurant nestled in a strip mall that has tables for dining in, although while we were there a steady stream of customers arrived to pick up their take out orders. A small basket of papadum was served with mint chutney, tamarind, and pickled onions. This was a nice touch and something that seems less and less common these days. Spinach is my favorite vegetable so saag with chicken was an easy choice. I ordered it 9 out of 10 on the spicy scale, so it while it had definitely had heat it was manageable and not punishing. It was very good and I would order it again. My dining companion ordered the Tikka Masala with lamb and not spicy. She thought it was good, but the chunks of lamb were very tough and chewy. The breads were a bit of a disappointment. My roti seemed more like naan and lacked the flakiness of traditional roti. The Peshwari naan definitely had a sweet taste, but was missing the bits of dried fruit and nut that makes it so distinctive. We both thought Basil n Spice was a 4-star restaurant, but the tough lamb and sub par breads bring it down to a borderline 3-star rating. That said, we both thought the restaurant has potential so we're going to give it another try so we can sample the Thai and Chinese dishes. read more

We live over in Wake Forest, and were in the area for a Friday night soccer game. When we finished at 8, I asked my daughter what she wanted, and she reported 'Asian'. I didn't realize when I first searched nearby and found this location, but it has multiple cuisine spot. I remember thinking as I was driving over that 'man I wish she liked Indian food' because I hadn't had any in some time. Much to my delight when we got here, I discovered not only were their Thai and Chinese inspired stuff, there was a nice large selection of Indian options. She got some chicken lo main, and I got palak paneer. She got some spring rolls, and I got my favorite Samosas. I introduced her to the papadum and chutneys that were given before the meal and she was a trooper and tried them all. Food arrived, was hot, fresh, and delicious. With the samosas it was too much for me to finish my palak paneer and I'm eating it now as I type this up for lunch on Sunday. Lo mein was well liked, she doesn't have a spice tolerance though and a 3 was a bit much for her. she said the spring rolls were great, and had finished off the lomein she brought home by Saturday night. Really great place you should check it out, they do delivery and stuff, but it was great to go in somewhere in person and enjoy a meal. I kept seeing so many good reviews about this place, so I finally went with a friend to try it. They serve Indian, Chinese, and Thai food, so there are lots of choices. It's not a very big restaurant, but there's a good amount of space to enjoy with family or friends, and the service was good. They don't have cocktails or mocktails, but we got Thai tea and it was really nice, creamy with a little spice. They also brought complimentary papad with chutneys, which was a lovely touch. We ordered drunken noodles with chicken and vegetable lo mein. The portions were great, everything tasted amazing, and I liked that they asked how spicy we wanted it. This place is simply fantastic!! I came to this restaurant because the reviews were very good and this place was even better than I had hoped! The food is a delicious fusion of flavors from China, India, and Thailand - all cuisines that are among my favorite. The choices here are wide and delicious - spring rolls, momos, Thai and Indian soups, noodle and fried rice dishes, naan and roti breads and so much more! I ordered takeout through UBER. It was GREAT food. The curry was prepared exactly as ordered. I requested mild massaman chicken and it was delivered piping hot, not spicy and delicious. Tender chicken with onions, potatoes & peanuts in a delightful curry sauce. I also ordered the basil naan also. It was really good, NOT dry and was very flavorful. It went well with the curry. We had a great first-time experience here. We tried the Lamb Korma, Chicken Pad See Yew, and steamed momo dumplings--all of it was really good. I'm picky about Pad See Yew, but the noodles were cooked just right and had great flavor. Everything we ordered was above par. Randomly stopped by here on our way to the Beach. Originally came in for Thai food and ended up ordering Indian Food. The samosas were perfect. Crispy and fresh filled with curried potatoes. I had the Aloo Gobi which was delicious, and my Husband ordered the Lamb Palik Paneer which exceeded both our expectations. The food was all made to order and amazing but hands down this is the best Garlic Naan that I have ever had in my Life. Grilled to perfection, light, airy yet crisp with a pop of garlic on top. The ambience was a little better than expected since it's in the strip mall. The staff was courteous and quick. We got a complementary dipping sauce. The bar offered wine and beer which was a nice surprise. Being from Hawaii, I am very picky about my Chinese Japanese or Thai food. The 6 o'clock fried rice with sweet basil was good. We tried the Jhol Mo Mo (dumplings), Siamese Rice, Lo Mein, Tso's and everything was great. Very considerate staff. We misjudged our spice tolerance, and they whipped up another serving with a lower spice level, and amended our order accordingly. Restaurant was rather small, but it was clean. Tables could have been spaced further apart. The Hawaiian chicken and chashew chicken were well seasoned, delicious and portions were large. Indian, Thai & Chinese in one location?!?! Who wouldn't want this?!?! The food here is AMAZING! We had Chicken 65, Pad Thai, Butter Naan, Butter chicken and it was ALL DELICIOUS! They have spice levels from 1-10 and I got an 8 and it was , which is exactly what I wanted. I'm a "Thai hot" gal. They are very popular so order early for takeout. They have a few tables and great service. We can't wait to go back and try more!!! read more

If you want good Thai food this isn't the place for you. Their Pad Thai had no flavor. I threw most of it away. The Panang Curry didn't taste right. Their food lacked any Thai flavors. The Tom Kha & Tom Yum was sweet. Making it inedible. Definitely will not be ordering from this place again. read more

We ordered take out. The prices seemed high, but the portions are huge! We easily got dinner and lunch for the next day. We ordered drunken noodles with chicken with spice level 2 and chicken tandoori with a side of butter naan. We went with a lower spice level since it was our first time ordering. We could probably bump up the spice without losing the taste of the meal. Next time we would also ask for no green peppers as we don't care for them. Will order from here again. read more

First time here. We ordered 3 takeout items: Thai Green Curry Mild w Chicken, Drunken Noodles spice level 5 w chicken 'extra char', and the Crispy Spring Rolls. The good: * The portions of the entrees are huge. 3 meals from each * generally good flavor * friendly service * on time * called me to clarify 'extra char', although it got lost in translation The bad: * the green curry base is intrinsically spicy. There is no mild, starts at 3. Flavor of the curry was excellent, but needed sugar and lime (personal taste). Maybe add these as condiments? * Came with basmati rice. Thai food should come with jasmine rice. * Drunken noodles needed more sauce, extra char on the noodles, and a ton more basil. They weren't bad but weren't great. Reheated at home with more oyster sauce, Thai basil and lime. Better (really good) at home after doctoring. * Confusion in communication. My online profile has me as Michael but they didn't make the connection when I said I am Mike. I asked for 'extra char'. Got it on the chicken, not on the noodles. My bad; I'll be more detailed next time. Bottom line: I'll go back. I'll refine my 'extra char' request and revise my understanding of their spice meter. read more

My date ordered the Hawaiian Ginger Pineapple Fried Rice at spice level 3-4 out of 10. It was delicious but had a big kick. My curry was ordered mild and had a nice peppery spice, perfect for my palette. Service was quick considering the dining room was full and pickup orders going out consistently.
