We ordered takeout from HK Raleigh and got a variety of dishes for a stay-in family dinner. I got the Mongolian Beef dish. The meat and sauce were so good! I like that they gave a lot of sauce, but I think it could've been packaged better because the sauce was spilling out into the bag and other items before I opened it (and I had to be careful when opening and closing the box). The Curry Lo Mein was also really good -- it had more meat than veggies, which felt more worth it, and the entire box was filled. They gave us hefty rice portions, too. Although the food was yummy, it wasn't the best Chinese place I've been to. I loved my Mongolian Beef dish, but it was 75% onions and although the description said there were bamboo shoots, I didn't see any (I was a bit sad about this). One of us got the Cashew Shrimp and although it was good, it didn't have much sauce compared to the others and had a lot of fillers, too: 40% celery and maybe 10-15% carrots. The seafood dishes were good but they used imitation crab, which isn't awful and still tasted fine, but we were expecting other seafood. All in all, this place isn't bad for a quick stop! The service was quick and simple, and the place was casual and had decent seating options for a takeout place. The food tastes good, I just have higher expectations when it comes to Chinese food after having been to many other places. I just also wasn't a fan of all the filler in the dishes. read more

I ordered take-out . The Szechuan Chicken tasted like it was swimming in watered down bbq sauce, the chicken was strange, soft and with chewy strings of something running through it. I took one bite but did not swallow it. I also could not eat the vegetables which were very sparse but soaked in the horrible-tasting sauce. I was hoping to at least enjoy the egg rolls. They were not "filled" and not cooked well. They were chewy and tasteless. I spent $28 for a Large Szechuan Chicken (thinking I could have a few meals out of it) and two egg rolls. I threw the chicken dish in the garbage after two tiny bites. I ate the egg rolls because I was starving but did not enjoy them at all. Also, the sauce which sucked spilled out all over everything. Came here on a Sunday night and it got pretty busier the later it was. There was only two of us but we got at least 8 different items and the bill came to just $22 / each, which is how cheap dim sum should be! The menu had a lot of different options to choose from, including all of the crowd favorites. Their egg tarts left a lot to be desired, but the congee was amazing and my absolute favorite. Stuffed eggplant and shrimp rolls were also very flavorful and good. We had to ask for soy sauce, chili oil and vinegar and they seemed short staffed that night, but you don't typically expect spectacular service at dim sum restaurants, anyway. The restaurant looks like an actual house from the outside and there's a dirt parking lot with plenty of spaces in the back. Would definitely come here again for a cheap dim sum! read more

I've been going to HK Restaurant for probably 20 years now. You might ask why I would only give them 3 stars if I keep going back. Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't offer a 3.75 star option and I give out my 4 star ratings sparingly. I'm not here to water down ratings. What I like: You can order online via the yelp app and have your food ready! Same family has owned and managed it for 20+ years... very friendly Food is consistent and reasonably priced Areas for improvement: Needs a little sprucing up inside... looks the same as when they opened. Chairs, walls, etc need a little love. Otherwise, if you need a modestly priced Chinese food fix in a strip mall and I would suggest take-out and not dine-in... this is your place! read more

I ordered chicken and broccoli for lunch today Sept 22 2017. The chicken was spoiled. I call them and they said I can replace it but did not apologize. I said rib tips and rice and add broccoli. They said broccoli would be extra...... REALLY ???!!! I said broccoli should not be extra and was on my way. Get there and they hold up the bag for me with out a word. I've eaten here before and was less than delighted. But this evening I was hungry and it's nearby, so I gave Hong Kong another chance. I kept my order simple in hopes of a better experience: what can go wrong with chicken fried rice and an egg roll? As it turns out, a lot. The egg roll was chewy (almost tough) and the only discernible filling was cabbage. I drowned it in soy sauce because I was starving. The chicken fried rice was slick with excess oil and had no fried egg or vegetables other than a few pieces of onion. It was just very oily yellow rice with bits of oily chicken thigh meat. I ate very little, fearing all that grease would wreak havoc on my stomach. However, my little dog Hallie seemed to enjoy the bits of chicken I plucked out and fed her. Probably the most awful take our Chinese food experience. Three of us placed an order online, my friend went to pick it up, when she came home with it, all three of our dishes were undercooked. I had the hunan chicken, my girlfriend had chicken and mushroom and her friend had chicken and shrimp. All three of the meats were undercooked and partially raw still. We called to ask for our money back and they said "We always get crazy people like you calling and wanting their money back". They would not give us the money back unless we came to them, which would be a waste, they would not refund our money otherwise. DO NOT order or eat from here, absolutely pathetic service and clearly do not know how to cook their food properly. read more

It's strip mall, take-out Chinese, so it's not gourmet, but it's consistently good for the price. You can order online for take-out through Yelp, and the food is ready by the time you get there. They're open every day and stay open late enough for a late dinner, and they don't close in the afternoon, like a lot of Asian restaurants do. read more

Pretty basic Chinese-American restaurant. My boyfriend and I placed a to-go order and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. It was hot and fresh, with lots of veggies, more than the standard 2 pieces of broccoli where we usually go. The flavor was good. My boyfriend orders extra-spicy, and they actually complied. My only complaint was the sauce was a little too gelatinous. After refrigerating my left overs, I was a little turned off by the "jiggle."
