Second time at this restaurant. First time was for lunch with my wife. Had Sushi and really enjoyed it. Second dinner was date night dinner on a Friday night. Wife had the Duck Breast and I had the Sizziling Duck. We were both satisfied with our choices. Would definitely recommend each dish. Prices are reasonable and the service was good. We discovered Basil about a year ago, and dine there often. The friendly waiters, upscale decor and exquisite Thai cuisine have made us very loyal customers. Tom kha soup, nam sod and curry dishes are among the best Thai dishes we've had anywhere. A truly wonderful find in Historic Downtown Brunswick. Definitely worth driving off SSI for a change of pace and cuisine. read more

Best restaurant in Brunswick. To call this place "Thai" is selling it short because the steaks, lamb chops, and salmon are all incredible. The sushi is fantastic and large and actually cheaper than the local competitors. Lunch deals are unbelievable, most meals are under $10! read more

Tom Yum and spring rolls were fine however the pad thai is absolutely dreadful - beyond terrible. The sauce on it seems like it came out of a can. Service was pretty lacking too, waitress pretty much disappeared. We sat there with untouched meals for 15 mins before we asked another staff member to find our waitress. Phenomenal! The restaurant was eloquent with lovely decor! Our waiter was Travis and the service was absolutely exceptional! Travis was friendly, welcoming, and on top of his game. When our sushi was taking some extra time (though we placed a large order) both Travis and the head sushi chef visited our table to let us know about the extra wait. The sushi chef created a master piece and no exaggeration, the greatest sushi I've ever had in my life! The entire experience was wonderful and the food was absolutely delectable! Discovered this place through a friend who met the owner. Went there with an open mind and a stomach craving Thai. I ordered the Tom Kha soup and grilled salmon with green curry sauce. My food tasted good. I also ordered a bottle of wine. The wine list had a few highlights but lacked true depth. A lot of questions could be avoided if they added basic information to their wine list like vintage and vineyard. After a few questions I was able to pick a bottle that complimented the meal quite well. The waiter achieved the key aspects of displaying my desired bottle but misses a couple details. Overall he accomplished his mission. The staff proved to be very friendly and displayed the correct amount of customer service to make for an enjoyable evening. Overall, Basil's is a restaurant I recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a classy Thai cuisine with a significant other; however, the quality didn't meet the price I paid. read more

We were here Saturday for dinner. Two of us ordered one of their specials Stuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat. It was just ok and expensive for the portions. I would not order this again. Their were only four shrimp that were very overcooked. This dish was served with jasmine rice which did not go well with the flavors, it was more like sticky rice. This dish was $24.99 for four shrimp? Disappointed. read more

This restaurant is about the food. The owner cares, and it shows. Ingredients are of the highest quality and always fresh. We requested fresh oysters a few days in advance, and he called us the day of our reservation to confirm that he had indeed received the fresh oysters. Try our fresh oyster shooter experiment for a great culinary adventure. Add a fresh oyster into a shot glass along with your desired amount of wasabi-soy sauce mixture (Mix wasabi into a bit of soy sauce, once it is a smooth paste, stir in a bit more soy sauce). Then add a small shot of cold saki. If desired, add a fresh torn leaf of cilantro or basil. Enjoy! We also enjoyed the fresh made-to-order sushi and the Tom Kah soup. read more

How heart breaking! I went here for dinner with a friend last week. Wonderful service (bald gentleman), wonderful food (appetizers, sushi & curry), wonderful time! I went for my lunch this week, alone. I was quickly seated and immediately ordered from their lunch specials, the soft shelled crab. A waiter bumped into my table and knocked over my water. "There's no room in here," was the only response to this. He didn't try or offer to clean it and I didn't get so much as an extra napkin. About 25 minutes into my wait, my waitress started avoiding me, as all other patrons around me had received their orders. This avoidance continued until finally I asked a different waitress about my order. She brought it to me and told me that the crab takes a long time. Perhaps something that takes an hour to cook should be marked on the menu or not included as a LUNCH SPECIAL?!? Of course, I had to rush to eat my food, and when I had about 2 bites left, my original waitress asked me if I ever got the rice I was to get with this order. I told her no and that I was almost finished, so not to worry about it. I had to wait for my check, which I paid. The saddest part is that the food was delicious. I look forward to hearing that the management has rectified the situation with the cook time and definitely that they have trained their wait staff. read more

restaurant is appealing...food average...our particular server...great, this restaurant will not make it! women dressed unprofessionally and unappealing on street corner soliciting business by offering free shots. the employees seemed overwhelmed, with the exception of the woman who waited on us. the owner was visible and visited table, but rather than concern for our needs, he seeemed to be checking up on server. thjough we did not have an exceptional experience, we returned because of our server...omly to find out she was no longer there. we stayed..had a drink and left. good employees make a restaurant..and this one is ion trouble. if you want sushi or thai...go to ssi, ga. read more
