We returned after a hiatus with a large group, which is usually a recipe for disaster. I was wrong. They have made the turn, and served an oversized crowd of disorganized people very well. Stopped this morning for breakfast because we've had a good experience here in the past. If you didn't know it, they have a very reasonably priced menu with just enough items and a good selection. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Plate and my wife ordered the Agio Grits Bowl. The Grits bowl was huge with a good portion of cheesy grits, bacon, tomatoes topped with eggs over easy and crispy potatoes. It came with a side of toast, but my wife got a biscuit. The smoked salmon plate came with pickled onions, capers and dill over a bed of smoked salmon with cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel. Again it was a very good portion of salmon and very tasty. We ordered coffee and a side of potatoes. Everything was great and plenty of food to leave extra for take home. I would definitely come here for breakfast as it is much better than many other ordinary breakfast joints in the area. Excellent experience. read more

This place was so good! We stayed at the hotel attached and went here for dinner. The food was fresh! I got the salmon and alfredo pasta and my husband got a steak and alfredo pasta. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. My husband wanted his steak cooked more and about 3 people helped us with no hesitation. Don't let this place being attached to a hotel scare you away. They have a very nice dinning area with a full bar. Plenty of seating options. And clean and crisp. The staff was very polite and quick. The food was solid and you get a fair amount for a helping. The lasagna was fabulous. The garlic bread was good and the braised pork was solid. If you're in the area this is a good Italian restaurant. Well worth our stop. read more

We waited for 5 minutes before the server asked for our drink order. We had a reservation and still waited to get coffee There were only two other tables of four people each. We go to Tramici a couple of times each moth and cannot help but compare the difference in service between Agio and Tramici where the staff make us feel welcome and appreciated. Agio servers are either not well trained or the fact that it's a hotel restaurant makes the service lackadaisical. The server did return to check on our meal. Three other members of staff made friendly comments. Worth another visit after the last few minutes. read more

So this used to be our layover spot when we traveled back and forth to NC but once the Millhouse left it went way down hill. Now they are Agio Italian and steak and the hotel is a Double Tree not a Holiday Inn anymore. Many changes! Walked right in and got a table. Refreshed atmosphere with more tables and no booths. Nice. Looking over the menu they have the Italian standard pastas and some nice steaks and chops. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. Sausage was delicious. Mushrooms a little mushy but really good with the marinara. We also got some bread. Ypu have to pay for it but it was garlic and came with more marinara. Nice and toasty. For my main I got the pesto pasta with blackened chicken. Very tasty! Chicken cooked nice but half of one of them had a little freezer burn texture. But overall very good. Deb got the piccata with chicken scaloppini. Very nice. Lots of chick in both dishes. Loved the capers and artichokes. Service was quick. Kate our server was so nice and friendly. Very efficient. We went for lunch and all three of us had pasta. I had the Fettachini Afredo with grilled chicken. My wife had Lemon Picatta, and our friend had Afredo with grilled shrimp. We all had Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious. Our waittress Stephanie was great. Our total check was right at $100. We found that pretty high for a restaurant that did not even serve any kind of bread with their meals. There was a full bar but nobody was there. read more

Having frequented the location long before it was Agio I was disappointed the last two visits. Being blamed for the mixed up tickets and never receiving our food and this time being blatantly ignored at the bar. Waiting for 20 minutes to get another drink is unacceptable. And then being cut off for asking for a manager and complaining about the poor service. I guess the bartender took Shannon's spot as the GM as he claimed he ran the place. In town visiting for the weekend and I wanted something other the usual seafood platters that we get when we come here...this place did not disappoint!!! We made reservations for six of us but had to call back twice to add more people and they were very accommodating. Ended up with a party of 8 on a Saturday night at 6 PM. We were sat right away when we arrived. Our server was Tony and he was great! We ordered the mussels as an appetizer- delish!!!! We ordered a xtra bread to sop up the juice! Our friends ordered the caprese and said it was very good as well. 5 of our group got the lasagna - huge portion and very good! One ordered the Agio Piccata with blackened shrimp - very good!! Staying at the Hilton Doubletree and Agio is in the building, very convenient! Sat at the bar and they had Wine Wednesday ($5 and 1/2 off appetizers at the bar only). Service was excellent. We decided to split their strip steak. It came with potatoes, string beans, onion strings and garlic butter. It was all delicious and perfectly cooked! Finished up with an after dinner drink. We have been stopping at Brunswick, when driving to and from Florida, for over 20 years ... and one of the major reasons were the really good restaurants that were in this location. Agio isn't one of them. Nice decor and friendly staff but way overpriced for classic Italian dishes that did not come close to living up to their description. Veal Marsala - tough and no flavor. Lasagna - way too spicy meat sauce crammed into a pasta shell - not layers of cheese & sauce & lasagna noodles the way it is supposed to be made. My fiancé and I had the opportunity to try Agio during their soft opening. It was overall a great experience! The waitstaff and owners were very nice and knowledgeable. The decor is not what you'd expect for an Italian restaurant, however, the theming does match that of the hotel it is connected to. It's very open and light. The food was fantastic. The sun-dried tomatoes that came with the antipasto plate were to die for! The steaks we had were cooked perfectly and super flavorful, and the desserts were both so unique and delicious! We will definitely be back soon and urge those who are curious to give it a try! Although the location and price point may not "match," to some, Brunswick deserves to have a nicer Italian restaurant and I hope Agio and its staff are here to stay! read more

I had heard mixed reviews so we tried it for ourselves. The food was amazing. I had the short rib and cheese ravilios and hubby had the pasta Bolognese. Both were excellent. Prices were a bit much for the portion size for the Brunswick area, and menu is small. I would skip the steak due to the price, everything is al carte. Atmosphere is nice but not exactly fine dining. Spoke with the manager(?) and they are hoping to expand the menu as staff become more comfortable and established Definitely will try again. And dessert was great. read more

And she let us know about half salads and we left with happy tummies. The stuffed mushrooms were super and the wedge salads with GORGONZOLA dressing was to die for. Extra dressing no problem but the chunks of Gorgonzola were so plentiful that I was in awe. The Salmon side with the salad was cooked exactly to order (medium rare). Valentines Day, traveling with no reservations. Customers with reservations waiting to be seated in a very busy restaurant. Hostess efficiently worked with staff and seated those with reservations who were in lobby. We told her we did not have a reservation and she said there were no tables available but a few seats at the bar and we were immediately seated. Service was very good, food awesome, prices reasonable. Best salmon in a very long time and a perfect cooked rib eye steak. Overall a memorable meal. Watching the staff work together to provide an enjoyable Valentine's Day dinner to all their patrons was great. The good: excellent Bolognese. The bad: overall grossly overpriced. Not so good: a la carte spaghetti and meatballs at $24 was just OK. Strangely, spaghetti was cut into 2 inch lengths. A la carte: Small loaf of garlic bread for $5 and then they charge $2 for dipping sauce - unconscionable. Questionable: upon entering restaurant the hostess asked for our email address. I replied, "We just want to eat dinner." Service: Adequate. Atmosphere: location changed from dark and dreary to bright and cheery, if somewhat austere. Brunswick is our stopover regularly from south Florida to NC mountains. Stay at dog friendly residence inn but this Italian restaurant just opened across the street at the Double Tree. Havent stayed at the hotel but just overnighted Memorial Day and got takeaway from Agio. Both choices (angehair pasta and ziti) with local shrimp were excellent. Weird that they don't take phone orders so online or stop by the service was prompt and entrees were excellent. Hostess could develop a personality but that has nothing to do with most important and positive parts of experience. Agio is a small and pleasant surprise in the Doubletree. We walked over from another hotel. We were wiped out after a long day on the road. The host seated us promptly in the bar area. I think our faces tipped him off that we wanted a table away from families in the main dining area. The bar was quiet, so we sat at a hightop. James took excellent care of us. The wine list is comprehensive without being overwhelming. We picked a Montepulciano red. James came back promptly, expertly opened the bottle, waited for my wife to taste, then poured. We both ordered pasta dishes. My Chicken Parmesan was tasty. The breading was crunchy, the sauce a little peppery with some sweetness from carmelizing in the oven. There was just the right amount of spaghetti. Enough for a hearty appetite, this slightly senior citizen could finish the pasta and bring home a cutlet. The wife's penne pesto was more than she could handle, so it will be a second meal when we get home. A warning to the lactose sensitive, the pesto has cream. A tribute to the chef, she is bringing it home to compare to her homemade pesto. Agio was a nice surprise right off the highway. 7 of us dined tonight, we thought we would give the new steakhouse a try. 3 people had Chicken Pham, 2 had spaghetti and meatballs, 1 had Pork chop and one had the spiced sausage and shrimp. The service was good, the atmosphere was nice but the food was average, nothing to recommend to anyone. The prices were a bit high for the average tasting food.
