Thought it was a restaurant. Confusing at first but had to order at the front then take a seat. Ended up though a lot better. Food was absolutely fresh flavorful and good portions for the price. First time trying this place out. I was a little overwhelmed about walking in and having to order right at the counter. I saw that they had a printable menu so you could sit down and look, but I didn't see it until after I panic ordered! I settled for a combo, half salad and a half sandwich. I guess I didn't read the small print where you had to be selective about the salad, so I ended up getting a Caesar salad and then I tried the chipotle avocado chicken sandwich. I also got a side of potatoes which were crispy and very delicious. The side costs extra, which was as bummer cause some places give you a side for free. The sandwich was good and had a huge chunk of chicken on it. The salad was fresh and crispy. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night, but there was plenty of seating. I was recommended by coworkers to try it out. I have friends in town and we decided to try it out last night. Lots of items on the menu. We ended up with a calzone and the Greek pizza. I heard the calzone was delicious. Greek pizza was delicious. They have the pizza oven that goes in a circle. So that crust gets cooked good. The pizza was just like I had in Italy. Stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening. Ordered a Meatball sub with a side of Cole Slaw and a bottle of water. They give you a number to place on your table and I went and found a place to sit. Food was delivered to my table in about 10 minutes. Pretty solid Meatball sub. It was meaty, filling, and tasty. The Cole Slaw appears to be dressed with a vinegar-based dressing - it was somewhat underseasoned. It could've used some additional dressing as well. The menu has some interesting pizza combinations. My first time at this location in Stafford but I've been to the one in Fredericksburg. Location was clean and the environment was serviceable. We ordered a couple pizzas which were decent but I would say slightly overpriced. What was definitely overpriced was a can of ginger ale was $3. That's crazy! What was disappointing was the level of service. It is a walk-up and order place and the person taking the order just stands there looking at you. Not a smile or welcoming demeanor. I'm overall, not terrible just not a high level of customer appreciation to me. Just my opinion. I used to really like it here but I think it went downhill. I sent my soup and sandwich combo back the other day because the soup had been sitting in the window for so long it had suxh a skin/fil on the top! It was our first time visiting this place, me and the family decided to give it a try Saturday for lunch, and we were very glad we did. The employees were very nice and friendly and helpful we made the mistake of ordering from the take out kiosk and they let us know that we had ordered take out when I clarified that we wanted to eat in instead they were more than accommodating to our needs and quickly took care of our order. Food was very tasty and had a nice presentation as well, Italian food served quick. The place very clean and decor was so nice modern and well organized. The cashier was very friendly and made recommendations based on what I told her I could and couldn't have. I chose the 3 meatball appetizer. We were excited to try Basilico after moving to Stafford. I was skeptical of one of the reviews that claimed that Basilico's makes a great crust because we are very picky about pizza. First of all, it has to be wood fired and basically the best or we won't come back. Well, we were so amazed to find the best pizza outside of D.C. right here in Stafford! Not good pizza period. $15 for a 12-inch cheese pizza and $18+ for 1 or 2 topping pizza with meat sparingly put on is never great math for Courtney. Especially when it's essentially like Sam's "Buy one, get one free!!" Pizza down the street where you can get two for essentially the same price. The mozzarella on the pizza was all-too brief highlight, sauce was savory, crust nothing to write about at all. I was a little confused about the reviews because everyone seems to like it but to be completely honest the foods on the meh side nothing too special and it's also a little too expensive for what you get. Especially the pizza the pizza is really small for the price and again just meh. The desserts the first time I came were the best part but I went today which is a Friday and I got a mango cake which tasted heavy like cleaner or perfume and a tiramisu which wasnt sweet at all and the crème brûlée was the worst one it was like eating sweet scrambled eggs. I don't know if they have different people making everything but they got to sync up. Also they should bring down the price for what you get. read more

Antipasto salad was beautiful but still not overwhelmingly delicious. Meats were hard. I would try again, but maybe the Fredbrg location. Ambiance was just fine. If you appreciate and like good New York style Italian food... COME HERE! I used to go down to the Basilico in Fredericksburg and then I saw that they were opening this location... Well, I just happened to go on the day they opened and it was spot-on! The dessert cases were loaded with amazing sweets! The menu is huge, offering lot of healthy options, in addition to the tyical items, like pizzas, subs, sandwiches, and pasta entrées. Service was great! From the person who took my order to the rest of the folks I encountered. The place has a nice sized dining room, which I'm sure will be packed once the word gets out that they're open now! Disclaimer, I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in upstate NY with an Italian grandmother so I'm a little biased. That being said, I would say my meal was pretty much like something I would get in a cafeteria or a mall food court. I ordered a chicken Parm which in my mind is a standard and wished I hadn't. Dry and tough. Sauce was meh. I don't think I'll come again but the people next to me had pizza and it looked pretty good. Service was fine and polite. The place seems very clean but again has the ambience of a food court. This area isn't exactly known for good Italian, (pretty sure they spell it "Eye-talian") but I would choose something else. I gave it a three because of the service and cleanliness. If it was food alone it would be a two. P.S. I didn't try any of the desserts, cakes or cookies but they looked very good. read more

We have eaten at the one on Valor numerous times. We usually get the baked ziti pasta, pizzas and spaghetti carbonara. Some desserts from time to time. The staff is awesome. They do an excellent job being attentive and welcoming. The downfall, and it happened too many times now, whoever is making the pizzas, is not leaving them in the oven long enough. Far too many times the dough has been undercooked in the middle of the pizzas and it's such waste but the kids never want to say anything bc really it's just ruined and takes too long to get a new one. The location is always clean and always being cleaned. We will dine again and again, however I will be returning anything that is undercooked as it is too expensive not to be right. read more

We absolutely love Basilicos in Fredricksburg, so we were elated that they were coming to Stafford. We ordered a Greek pizza (sub artichoke for spicy meat) and a Bruschetta pizza. I ordered online, and was told 20 minutes. The confirmation email was time stamped 5:04, I received a text at 5:09 that my order was ready. Less than 10 min? How were they ready? My husband went to pick up. He is very good about checking my pizza to make sure it's correct. My Greek had meat on it, he showed the employee, and also the ticket that said artichokes- no meat. The employee said "did you check bc we have messed up before?" My husband replied "many places mess up, I just want to fix before I leave." Now, he gets the pizzas and comes home. He opens his, which looks like just a pile of chopped tomatoes with some parm sprinkl on bread. I said, where is the balsamic that it said is on? There was not any. Both pizzas were beyond bland. I have been dining at the Cowan location for years upon years and was so excited that north Stafford was getting a basilico! I've eaten there twice so far both times were to go. Everything was 100% correct in each of our orders, which is amazing since usually a condiment or napkins at the very least, are missing fromm most to go orders i place. This location is just as good as Fredericksburg and it was so clean! The inside looks a bit like a different vibe but as long as their Mac and cheese keeps hitting like it does, i couldn't care less about the interior, to be honest. I highly recommend the Fontina Apple panini i always get it without the arugula because i detest warm or cooked greens. The Mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever tasted... and I love trying different macs so I'm no novice when it comes to this side dish. Their pastry display is the best around-- in not sure if they make the desserts all in house or outsource them, but either way, you can't go wrong. We've been eating at Basilico at both their Fredericksburg and Stafford locations for years. Not wanting to make dinner at home this past Monday 7/28/25 we visited the Stafford Basilico for dinner. My wife ordered the chicken parmigiana and I ordered the Philly steak Stromboli. Our food arrived unusually fast, considering usually the Stromboli takes a while to prepare and bake. Then we discovered why so quickly. The chicken parmigiana looked like someone had sliced the chicken in thin slices, breaded them heavily, maybe ran over it with their car, before placing them in a pile in the refrigerator for a future order. Then the flat, over-breaded chicken slices were pulled out of the pile in the fridge, slapped them on a heavily oiled grill to warm, thrown into a bowl and slathered with cheese, red sauce and some spaghetti. My wife stared at the unappetizing mess and said "I'm not sure I can eat this!" I tried a piece of the chicken and I have to agree. Definitely not up to typical Basilico standards. And the reason I suspect my Stromboli arrived so quickly? I'll bet it wasn't made fresh, but frozen then baked, or maybe microwaved?? It sure didn't taste freshly made. The back of the Basilico uniform shirts say "Fresh" at the top. After our experience the other evening, I'd suspect that term shouldn't be used by them anymore. It's a shame. read more

This family has always loved the other two Basilico locations and when the Stafford location opened up we were excited because it's closer to home. However, tonight my daughters fettuccini Alfredo had practically no sauce on the noodles and my dish was supposed to have ricotta cheese and there was none. Additionally there was very little eggplant in my dish as well. I hope the managers see this and correct the these deficiencies because we would like to keep this as a take out option but will stop ordering here if there isn't improvement in the quality. read more

Was craving a really good Deli Ruben, the kind with lots of good meat. Was very disappointed there was plenty of meat just didn't taste very good. The meat was kind of rubbery and had very little flavor the sauerkraut had no flavor also. The whole thing was basically flavorless. Even though I have never been to that location, I have been to the one by Mary Washington. I feel like over the years the food taste has gone down. I also got the corned beef and cabbage soup and it also didn't have much flavor. Had to dd a bunch of salt and pepper to eat it. Price was way to much for the food I received.
