Basil's is located in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Georgia. It's near lots of great shops within walking distance. Upon my arrival to the restaurant the hostess found my reservation I'd made through Open Table. She then offered me seating in their large outdoor patio dining area. They are offering only outdoor dining at this time. After being seated a server brought me courtesy flatbread, and it was topped with a mix of tomato, basil, mozzarella cheese, and tasted perhaps to have some garlic or onion seasoning. It was nice. As an appetizer I ordered their assorted empanadas, and they too were prepared nicely, but it wasn't an assortment. They only served two, and both were the same. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon with rosemary, potatoes purée, and basil-curry sauce. The filet mignon was the most tender, and most excellent I've ever had! This is a must order upon your visit to Basil's. The entire service staff was noted to be working together as a team, and was cleaning a lot during my entire visit. They all also wore face mask. I like the effort they put into maintaining the restaurant's cleanliness. You've now have one more dining option to consider the next time you're in the Atlanta area. It's Basil's. SERVICE: stellar. Meg was awesome, knowledgeable and very nice. FOOD: I had the shrimp. The man had the salmon. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food..very tasty. The shrimp was in a nice cream sauce. They serve bread which is nice....kinda like pizza a bit but very thin which is good. Calamari was very good! Sardines were a hit too and a different kinda appetizer. The wine was AHMAZINg! I love wine and the bartender explained the type because I had never heard of it. Pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed this experience. We love tapas and found this during our search. We didn't try any entrees because we got so many small plates. The lamb ribs were one of the best things I had all year. We also had the mezza dip trio, calamari, toasted ravioli and crabcake fritters. All were delicious but the ribs were still the standout. Mediocre food. Terrible service. I strongly suggest avoiding this place. We ordered the lamb and bone-in-ribeye. The lamb was over cooked and the ribeye was not recognizable as such. When we pointed out that bone-in ribeye didn't actually have a bone (pretty basic) or taste like a ribeye at all, the manager was incredibly rude. The restaurant even put a surcharge on the bill for using credit cards. Who does that? Between the poor service and tasteless food this was the worst dining experience I've had in Atlanta and one of the worst I've had in a decade. Don't go. Just stay away. read more

Met niece here for a rendezvous while on a bonus trip to Atlanta. Cute and welcoming. And they have a nice valet for customers which I thought was outstanding. Order lots of plates to share. We loved the toasted ravioli and mushroom flatbread. The Greek salad we shared. Generous portions -and probably would have tried a few more dishes if the ones we had weren't so filling. Would definitely come again. Only downside is that they had a large group of people mingling unmasked and they were getting really close to our table the more they drank. I went here for the first time on Sunday for my mom's birthday. They have a nice patio which we tried out but at 86 degrees it was too hot as the fans didn't point to every table. So, we ventured inside and they were very accommodating about this. They brought small bites of brownies and muffins instead of bread (dessert before dinner anyone?). We ordered calamari as the appetizer and I've had much better. They kind of tasted like onion rings probably due to how many onions they were dried with. Since it was Sunday they only had the brunch menu available but the lunch menu was in the back and we didn't realize so we all ordered from the lunch menu and the chef was able to accommodate us. My mom and sister had the trout prepared slightly different ways. And they liked but didn't love it. I had the chicken tagliatelle. It was much better upon reheating at home with a dash of Tabasco chipotle sauce lol. We told our waiters about 3 times before they got the hint that it was my mom's birthday at which point they brought a divine lemon cake. Best part of the meal. I wouldn't return but my mom has been 3 times and says dinner is better. My family member made reservations here for mother's day brunch/lunch thinking it was tapas style offering, only to find out that there was a set price per person, with buffet being the only option. That was an oversight on our part, not to call ahead to confirm the menu. I didn't mind waiting 15 to 20 minutes with a reservation, nor the $60.00 per person charge, as it was mother's day. Service: - No one greeted us when we arrived, or asked if we had a reservation. - After we were seated, no one came by to ask if we wanted any drinks, or water. Tired of waiting, we got up and proceeded to the buffet line. When we asked for water refills, the server only filled up 3 glasses and walked away in haste, leaving one empty glass. We had to ask for a second server to fill the other glass. Our table for four, in the dining room near the buffet line appeared to be approximately 12 inches away from the tables on either side, and a server took a few short cuts in between the tables instead of going around or behind us. - After finishing the meal, I had to go up to the bar to pay, my card sat there for a while, while the wait staff appeared be on their phones. I had to make a second trip to ask for my card. Cleanliness: There were a few dirty plates on the buffet line left by the customers and were not picked up by the staff. The wait staff didn't bother to clear the plates from our table either, so we had to leave them on the table next to us. A gentlemen who was on staff, perhaps the owner, was sampling food from the buffet line, with his bare hands, as he walked by. The men's room didn't have any soap. Not that the dispenser was out of liquid, there was no soap dispenser. Food. The buffet brunch/lunch fare was rather bland tasting, with only a few items that had mediterranean flavors. The rest of the buffet items were what one would find at an American restaurant. Also in the $60 per person charge, there were no juice/tea/coffee/iced tea options included for this brunch/lunch event. The best service I got, was from the valet guy, and I took care of him. Lovely afternoon for lunch on the patio. The did was fine. Our waitress did not wear a mask at all. I didn't want to upset or offend her before we received our food, so I asked her at the end of the meal if the regulations for servers to wear masks had been lifted. She responded that if I had asked her to wear her mask, she would have.... but that she works double shifts everyday and the mask is hot and doesn't prevent the spread.... Thank you Joseph! The owner, I went with a friend Holly. Joseph brought out Kibbeh which gave me memories of my child hood. My family is Part Lebanese & we make kibbeh at home. He brought out a plate of Mezze, babbaghanoush, hummus, and tabouleh. For dinner I ordered the sea bass, it was 10/10 delicious every bite. I paired it with a glass of viogner. My friend had some sort of pasta dish, she usuallygets that. I didn't try it. Other person with us ordered the special which was grouper fillet over potatoes & veggies. He said it was alright. I loved mine. For desert we did 2 limoncellos and 1 creme brûlée. I didn't like the brûlée , but the locale was the best limoncellos I've ever had in America. Overall will define back. I started my meal off with the fried calamari. It was served with pieces of fried onion as well- yum. While I savored that appetizer, I looked for an entree. There were about six items I really wanted to try which is uncommon for me. Usually I can easily narrow it down to an item or two but not here. I finally settled on the half rack of lamb which was served with potatoes and broccoli. It was cooked medium rare and had a wonderful flavor. Food here was fantastic. It was a light traffic night at the restaurant so we had good service at our table. Had a great experience and was surprised that it was not more crowded. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with friends and Basil's really came through for us so wanted to post a 5/5 review. A day before we were scrambling to find a dining venue since our plans changed due to the stormy weather to come. I was able to book spots for our group which showed great service from Basil and Opentable. We arrived for dinner and instantly fell in love with the space. The modern wall art, Mediterranean timber lofted ceilings, and the white linen tablecloths made the dining experience a balanced mix of formal yet festive. The service was top notch, with staff asking good questions about timing and dietary needs. We also asked the bartender for a creative mix of shots for the birthday celebration and she came through with lots of unique creations. Food presentation was aesthetic and scrumptious...my Georgia trout was excellent, it reminded me of lightly seasoned walleye filets from my great north country. My wife really enjoyed her mussels and sauce as well. So what a pleasant surprise to dine at Basil's. Most of our group had been to Anis across the street but never here. Cozy restaurant located in Buckhead. I visited for a girls brunch. The owner and his staff, especially Sam, treated us like queens. The restaurant is located in the midst of a Buckhead neighborhood. So The complimentary valet parking was appreciated & the valet staff was very nice. The decor reminds me of someone's quaint home. I got the traditional breakfast that included eggs, bacon, sausage, & panini bread. I would have preferred regular toast. I also got an order of the white cheese grits with jalapeno. They were good & not spicy at all. Upon ordering, I was asked if I wanted grits or potatoes so I thought they were included with the traditional breakfast, but they were billed as an added side. We go about once a month ... early chow. They have Pilsner Urquell on tap. Zoot alors. Last Wednesday (02/15/2023) their "Special" was Fettuccine Alfredo w/ shrimp and bacon. The sauce was really good , the vegetables were completely flavorless , but the sauce of the chicken covered it up, the Paella was weird! Basil's is a place I've wanted to try for years. I first saw it when my son was living nearby on Pharr while going to law school at Emory. Last night we did it...Christmas Eve at this chic little hideaway tucked down a quiet and well-treed side street in the heart of Buckhead. Walking up from the street, Basil's exterior was tastefully awash in white Christmas lights. Once inside, our family was impressed with the coziness, soft lighting and subtle music of this unique and welcoming venue. Basil's normal menu was replaced this evening with a spectacular 3-course Christmas Eve menu with 8 choices for appetizers, 8 different entrees and 5 desserts. My anticipation was building as we ordered a couple bottles of Moët and Chandon Sparkling Rose as we read through the offerings on the special menu with our courteous server offering local color on the various dishes. Our table ordered a nice selection of first courses including the Fried Calamari, Toasted Ravioli w/ a cumin tomato sauce, an order of Crab Fritters and Old Faithful...a Caesar Salad. We all raved about the flavors as we sucked in the ambience...and the wine. For our main courses, half our group of six including myself opted for the Grouper with skillet potatoes and grain dijon sauce. It was absolutely one of the most delicious fish offerings I'd ever had. On eBay, this entree would garner an A++++. LOL...well over the moon. Our daughter-in-law chose the Ahi Tuna pan seared and served with risotto and a fresh ginger soy sauce. I got to sample a bite and this seafood entree was also an outstanding catch. The final two at our table jumped for the Chicken Gremolata Stuffed w/ goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and lemon au jus. The stuffing really dressed up that chicken and turned it into a total winner. Tonight's third course finished with 5 delicious dessert offerings. Basil's far surpassed our expectations in every respect and provided the backdrop for a memorable Christmas Eve for our family. The spaces that are there are narrow and on a hilly slope. I was very concerned leaving my car there. - the entrees were simply not that good. The grits were worse than average, scallops were ok and hummus wasn't that great either. - the menu had a number of prices that were simply scratched out with a new price printed over. Dessert portions were small and from looking at other Yelp pics, looked less than half the size of what is typically served (because we were there on VDay and they had a "special" VDay menu. -Service: Vday so was busy and a tad in/out feel but efficient. -Ambience: Casual but still elegant. -Parking: Easy valet -Price and Value: Average -Overall Comments: Went on VDay. Had reservations but we still had to wait 30 minutes and they wanted to put up in the front section where it was sort of like a patio covered with plastic and heat lamps- not what we had in mind for a Vday dinner that we reserved weeks in advance. So, we opted to wait for a table in the main dining room. I would have appreciated having my reserved table ready. Food was good tasting. My 3-star rating isnt meant to be bad, but instead average. What could have been better is having our table ready, or at least not waiting 30 min in a crowded area where it was cold (in the patio area), and having more attentive service and not feeling rushed to turnover tables.
