For whatever reason, they used a white crust (which tasted like chalk) instead of the chocolate crust, it didn't have the fudge striping on the crust, and the fudge striping on the top was incredibly thin. Pros: -The location is conveniently located around busy shopping plazas which is good. -I loved the large selection of flavors they had. Cons: -The employee didn't rinse out the scoops well enough from the previous customer so I had a large chunk of a fruit-flavored ice cream in my chocolatey double scoop. -My scoops were also super tiny - I think they might've used the kid sized scoops! -The employee wasn't wearing gloves at all and was going back and forth between scooping ice cream and using the cash register without washing his hands. -You could only get napkins from the front by asking the employee. Fortunately, they got my wife's Double Scoop order correct, but my 3 Scoop Sundae looked to have been made so half-a**! No whipped cream or a cherry on top of the sundae? There wasn't an option to have whipped cream added when I ordered on DoorDash, so I figured it would be included. That's usually automatic when it comes to sundaes. Really disappointed with this recent Baskin-Robbins visit. I ordered a two-scoop sundae, but what I got felt more like a sample. The scoops were tiny -- she scraped from the sides of the tub, so the ice cream was icy instead of smooth and creamy. The whipped cream? About the size of a Hershey's Kiss, sagging sadly to one side. I think that's poor business etiquette. I dealt with Groupon before and I had a contract. I honored the 50% . As a business owner it's good to hono the discount because it's good publicity. This location is my go to. It appears to be under new ownership since my last two visits and I am very happy with the change. The new owners seem to be more customer service attentive and definitely pass the vibe check. The new owners are super nice and have been working on site along with employees. The employees have all been very nice, friendly, attentive and helpful. Super bonus - on the second visit, I went for bday ice cream and had my bday balloons and flowers in hand (just received them in parking lot). They wished me happy birthday and I mentioned not getting my baskin robbins free bday scoop email that I normally get every year (I had the old emails) the new owners went ahead honored my bday with a free scoop anyway! Very appreciated! Very great experience. Clean and tidy store. Easily accessible with easy parking in the connected parking lot. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION - New MGMT IS CUTTING CORNERS & ALTERING the product. This is not the Baskin Robbins you grew up with as a kid. The products served is subpar compared to other Baskin Robbins locations. I ordered a 9" dome cake, which I have purchased 3x from this location. I texted photos and communicated 9". I paid online, no inch measurements were listed. I went to pick up the cake and 6" dome cake was supplied. I told staff it is the wrong cake I will place a new order for a 9" cake which costs more. They agreed they would refund this one as long as I am paying for the correct cake because they can sell the wrong cake. Next day, I text morning staff about the confusion. I confirm with them to refund the other order and I placed a new order the second correct cake. I go to pick up the order, the lady gave me the new cake 9 round as they don't know how to do a 9 inch dome. Then at the very end the lady tells me they cannot refund the 6 inch cake and if I wanted to take it. This lady staff member made MULTIPLE FALSE STATEMENTS to support why she cannot refund the cake. 1) Baskin Robbins has never made a 9 inch dome cake - which a basic internet search proves false. 2) She told me this location never made a 9 inch dome cake, even though I have email order receipts, text messages, and photos of ordering this (3) 9 inch dome cakes. 3) If I wanted a refund I was suppose to cancel before the 24 hours window ended -- The cake was ordered online and picked up in less than 7 hours, which her policy can't apply. It was almost as if she enjoyed this gaslighting (aka lying). THE CAKE is 30% SHORTER - the skimmed out on ice cream Then when I get home I see the cake is 60% shorter than what it should be. I cut it open and see they reduce the amount of ice cream. (See photos of their cake, in comparsion to other baskin robbin location cakes). I have ordered this cake for about 2 decades. The ice cream was just okay and the service was super slow! I like the selection of ice cream they have but I don't think the price justifies it. I got the kid's scoop and that's almost $4 or so. The staff is usually pretty courteous but they're really inefficient and slow. I waited thirty minutes to get the cappuccino blast even though I was the third person in line. In addition, the staff don't seem to know what their ongoing promotions are. I went to get a cappuccino blast because it was $2.99 that day but the staff charged me $6 or $7 for it. They did rectify their mistake but it surprised me that they didn't know they had that promotion at all. Unfortunately, there is not a spot for a zero star. B&R has for years been the "go to" spot for ice-cream and shakes. On our recent visit we stopped in to get my wife's favorite, mint chocolate chip. They had it in stock, and at a cheaper price than our local Lucky's. We opened the first quart when we got home and discovered it was freezer burned and had a strange taste. No problem, we can return it in a few days on our next trip to Emeryville. We were mistaken. We brought the 2 containers in for an exchange. We explained the situation and her immediate reply was "do you have a receipt?" And "these are expired." I do not regularly keep receipts for purchases such as this. All I was looking for was a replacement or exchange. When we asked for the manager, she stated that she is the owner. She would do nothing. She sold us out of date, freezer burned product and would not stand behind it. She could have had a better attitude dealing with the whole situation. I have been an owner of an independent retail store for over 40 years. I do not prescribe to the old adage that the customer is always right, but in this case, I was. For the small cost of replacement, she could have saved a long-time customer, and received a much better review. My advice is, if you find yourself having a Jones for ice-cream, skip the B&R on 40th st in Emeryville. Go just a little further to Fenton's on Piedmont avenue. Really friendly staff! I came cause I had the T-mobile deal but it wasn't working. The staff informed me that T-mobile sent out an email addressing it but I wasn't aware.
