This Valentine's Day, I decided to try something different, and ordered a "Breakable Heart" from Itty Bitty Bakery. Little did I know that this treat wasn't just something pretty to show off to my partner, it was delicious and FUN, too! This review includes both my, and my partner's, thoughts on our experience eating (destroying?) this breakable, edible, sculpture. Taste - I obviously have to talk about this first. The breakable heart was made out of organic, fair trade chocolate and was delightful. Breaking it open revealed fun Valentine's-themed candies and a cookie envelope! Everything was delicious, and not too sweet. Presentation - This is where the fun comes in. As shown, the breakable heart came in a wooden box with the IB logo stamped on it. The box contained the heart, cherubs, and a mallet with a wax seal IB logo. Cracking open the heart with the mallet was the most fun I have had with food since dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets (yes, that much fun!). We were surprised to find the envelope inside, with meticulous detail drawn on, and our names handwritten on it. Chomping into the envelope, we found a beautiful handwritten note. Spoilers, I supplied IB with the text for the note when I ordered, but IB did a great job making it feel like it was written from the heart. Delivery - Like I mentioned, the wooden box was the perfect aesthetic touch, and probably protected my heart from breaking (unintentionally lol). The box came in a giant pink bag with tissue paper that made it feel like we were opening a thoughtfully wrapped present. Bottom line - This is a Valentine's treat that I will be talking about for years. It's weeks later and I still think about how much fun it was cracking open something so delicious! read more
