My daughters 1st birthday was earlier this month and even though we couldn't have a party for her, I at least wanted to invite some neighbors over to have a few cupcakes in our driveway :-D I searched Yelp as always and found Sweet Tweets Bakeshop, which seemed to be super local to us. I'm not sure who exactly made my cake but as you can see in "what I got " I'm giving it one star because I could have a cake for display. Samantha was amazing in making our child's birthday cake! She had made a cake for a friend that involved a rainbow inside and a chocolate outside, and we wanted rainbow with lemon inside and strawberry outside. No problem! It came out looking perfect, tasted delicious, and everyone loved it (kids and adults!). The frosting wasn't overly sweet, and the cake balanced it nicely -- there are lots of layers in a rainbow cake and it wasn't overwhelming, which is hard to do. The cake had beautiful decorations on top of it as well, which we removed before cutting. I found Sweet Tweets through Yelp (thank you yelpers, once again, you come through!). I ordered a minion shaped cake and minion themed cupcakes. Besides the cake and cupcakes looking cool, and wonderfully fitting into our minion party, they were delicious. The ordering process is extremely easy, and is via email which I appreciate because I don't like in the bay area. The party was for young child, so there were tons of kids at the party; I felt very proud when I overheard kids said things like "wow, look at the cake". I've been working with Samantha for 20 days on an order for my son's 1st birthday party. The only thing left to finalize was the flavors of all the items. I wrote her back by email to confirm the flavors 5 days before the party and she wrote back and said that since my order was not 100% finalized, she took other orders and no longer can make the desserts for my party. I'm sorry, but the proper thing to do would have been to give me a heads up first and give me a chance to finalize the order since I had been working with her first. Zero heads up and now I'm screwed, left scrambling for the party. Everything is also incredibly expensive ($50 for a 4'' smash cake for a 1 yr) and there's no phone number to call so you have to do everything over email. I found Sweet Tweets through a recommendation I read on Facebook. When I emailed with Samantha (the owner), she was very responsive. I had a very specific idea in mind of what I wanted - a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" themed cake, cupcakes and mini cupcakes for my son's first birthday. I sent her some pictures of things I liked, and she said she could do it no problem. Compared to the other places I called, she was much better priced and could do more complex designs. I saw some of the work on her website and was sure it would work out. Plus, I could ask all the questions I wanted - she was very accessible through email, which works for me so I can email her from my desk at work :) My aunt picked up the cake and cupcakes on the day of the party and she RAVED about Samantha. I didn't get to meet her in person, but my aunt was absolutely thrilled by her - said she was great, everything was spotless, and of course, the cake and cupcakes were beautiful. My aunt said she was going to use Sweet Tweets in the future for sure. When I saw the cake and cupcakes I was SO HAPPY. They were just great - and the cupcake decorations were even better than I had imagined! She went above and beyond, making many different designs from the Hungry Caterpillar book.
